I like this place and have camped there.numerous times. Also this place was not that busy over a long weekend but the parks vic website said it was booked out, which was a great sign as it indicates that parks don't overlook the place. BUT even with the low numbers, the men's toilets had issues and by the 3rd day, there was only 1 (yes 1) functional toilet. The men's toilet block has 1 urinal and 3 toilets, the women's has 7 toilets and they all remained functional over the long weekend except for 1. Also be aware that there is no showers or potable water on-site.
Restrooms
3 men's toilets and 7 women's.
Dog-friendliness
Great place for your dog.

It was a nice experience. The camping site are unmarked. They allow 40 permits everyday and each permit can include upto 6 people. As the sites are unmarked you have to reach early to get a good shady spot. There where quite a lot of flies in morning and everything, so it would be good to take netted gazebo. There is a beautiful creek near by. Toilets are clean and they refill the toilet papers every day. There are taps for washing dishes and one drinking water tap as well. It is spacious compared to other marked sites, we could play cricket and frisbee with the kids. Firewood can be collected there.

Lovely large open campground with new toilets, tennis/basketball court and kids playground. Great for a weekend getaway. Fabulous for dogs. Heaps of room and lots of shade. Easy access to the river and can walk to the Upper Yarra Reservoir from camp. Book through Parks Vic which you can do onsite as internet access available. Rangers did the rounds to confirm people had booked. ✅ flushing toilets ✅ ‍ dogs allowed ✅ fires allowed ✅ picnic tables ✅ 2WD accessible ✅ internet access ❌ showers or hot water BYO drinking water.

The campsite area is very nice and very spacious. The Parks Victoria amenities (toilets, wet weather hall, and camp kitchen) are looking very tired, i.e. long overdue a major refurbishment. Sign posting could be better. Showers diasabled early 2017 because septic treatment system does not comply with approved EPA standards. Instead, you can bath in the chilly stream underneath the bridge at the start of the short Fern Gully Track. Flies can be an issue here, some come prepared with lots of tolerance, fly repellent, head nets, etc.

Very good campground. Plenty of room and some nice shady spots. Perfect for families with flushing toilets that are nice and clean. The river is amazing with plenty of quiet spots to hide from the heat. Be aware of the March flies that are here in huge numbers. Luckily there is also a large number of other wildlife to keep you entertained. Also doggo friendly :) LTDR: great spot, doggo friendly, flushing toilets, river, March flies will eat you.

Massive, beautiful camp ground. A large shed at the top of the hill has electric barbeques, hot and cold running water in sinks, many powerpoints, and 3kg bags of crushed ice for sale for $3. It has the upper most publicly accessible section of the Yarra River flowing along the bottom of the campground, and would be a great place for a splash or float down the river on a hot day.

One of the best camp sites I’ve been to! Really clean and tidy, not too far from Melbourne, easy drive. Lovely scenery and areas to explore. Clean and tidy toilets with toilet paper! No set sites so you can set up camp wherever is free. Fire pits and picknic tables in a lot of sites too. Don’t need a 4WD to access. Would 100 % come back!

Great campsite for weekends if you don’t want to go far from Melbourne. Grassy ground with tree shade. Toilet is clean and well maintained. A river is around for swimming and some short tracks too. Need to book but you have to choose a site when you get there. So come early to pick a good spot.

Very big camp ground Fire wood is available for 15$ a bag Its not very busy so its quite and the big distance between tents will give you privacy to enjoy your camping with a piss of mind. Also the restrooms are clean. We enjoyed our capming Thank you guys

  • Gena

Beautiful campgrounds with new toilet facilities, pity no showers even if they were coin operated. Great for big groups and dog friendly too which is always a plus. Thanks Parks Vic we will be back for sure.

Beautiful camp ground , good facilities and the 4 foot who was very timid was spectacular. Watching the birds, fish and grays in the river from the bridge makes you remember what’s important …

Due to Dam wall maintenance works, the park is closed to the public till mid 2021. Contact parks.vic.gov.au for more details.

It's pretty nice but the main hall has been let go completely and the roads are horrific. If you own a low vehicle be careful

  • Matt Linton

The showers aren't in working order but if you can get by without it's a huge place and worthwhile for a visit

  • Ma Du

Mostly good. Showers not working but they will be fixed during a shutdown of the park in 2019/2020 apparently
