A real hidden gem in the San Fernando Valley. Right at the edge of the taxiway, the Observation area has informative kiosks with the history of the airport, a speaker that broadcasts a feed from the Control Tower, a shaded picnic area, and playground for the kids. Usually open from dawn to dusk, it's a great place to bring the little ones or just if you need to get away for a moment. Entrance is gained along the alley just to the south of the fire station. ️

As I'm getting my PPL from LA flight academy at Van nuys, I heard about this place. It is really good for plane spotting. You can also go there with friends and family to have fun time. PLANE SPOTTING IS VERY NICE!! ITS FREE!!

Took my seven-year-old grandson, they have a mock-up runway painted on the ground, you can hear the tower talking, took his scooter he had a great time, we've even had lunch there at the tables, channel 7 News copter landed there while we were eating they were quite friendly with the kids

Very disappointed, website said it was open and when we arrived the gate was locked. This was on July 1, 2021. Seven of us; four grandsons (2 - 2 1/2), parents and grandparents. This is a two instead of a one because we could watch planes take of and land from the outer parking lot.

Fun experience to watch planes takeoff and land. Bring binoculars if you have them. Try going to the adsb exchange website - you can see real time plane locations to see what planes are on their way in and where they’re coming from/headed to.

One of The Valley hidden gems. Great place to bring lunch, the kids, and your sense of adventure. Kiosks tell the history of the airfield from it's dusty beginnings to it's place as one of the busiest general aviation airports in the country.

Very good place to take pictures or just enjoy the planes taking off and landing at KVNY. It’s easily accessible and has an area to drop off kids during your time there! Would highly recommend to Avgeeks or just normal people.

My son loves to see airplane so we take him there. But sometimes there are a lot of people. You have to be careful because the children runs around and the car comes and goes so just to be sure keep an eye on your children.

Secret spot to watch the planes take off and land. Great for children. Off Woodley Ave, turn onto small road next to the fire dept, and take to the very end. Pack a picnic. No bathrooms

Always love watching airplanes. My kids love watching airplanes and helicopters. Good place to just relax and watch. Just wish there was a restroom and it would be perfect.

The other half of the lot was closed due to covid. Wasn't really able to see the planes take off nor land but was still enjoyable to somewhat see them land and take off.

Great place to bring your kids, this may involve your children into dreaming about being a pilot. They will be able to see helicopters taking off and landing.

Went on a Friday afternoon, only quarter of the parking lot is open, since it is not a busy day, we were able to park nice and easy. My toddler had a blast.
