Came here for lunch on a spa day at the resort and really liked the place. Nice aesthetic with the view of the golf course on the side. Loved how it was actually outdoors and like a veranda! Guava Mango Refresher was beautiful! Husband and I were both surprised. Guava and mango flavor both came through and in the perfect balance. Market Salad was really fresh! We asked for dressing on the side and grilled chicken instead of salmon. Everything went perfectly well together! Candied walnut, blue cheese, all the berries were so perfect together. Also really appreciate how they plated everything with the ingredients. All separated out. Made it very pretty. California Avocado Toast was also very fancy! It was guac instead of smashed avocado, a good amount of greens and tomatoes on there, which we definitely appreciated. Got a poached egg on the top. Skipped out that olive oil drizzle because we didn't want the extra fat but it was not needed at all. 10/10 Recommend having the sauce that it comes with. The guac flavor can be a little bit overpowering with just the bread and egg otherwise, but with the sauce.. It is a total game changer! Really loved this one. Short Rib Flatbread was a 3/10 Ingredients said shallot, mozzarella, roquefort dressing, habanero honey But they were so so much barbecue sauce! The short rib was cooked in barbecue sauce, but there was no mention of this at all. This tasted essentially like a barbecue short rib flatbread. I'm not a fan of that flavor so this was a little bit sad. Too sweet for me. I was hoping for the sweet and spicy vibe with the habanero honey but none of that came through. Had to ask for extra crush to reflex and also took off most of the barbecue sauce with my knife.
The place is just beautiful and sitting on the patio with live music is great; however, the patio service is sooo arrogant. I've had problems there in the past, but last Friday was the final straw. We showed up on a Friday afternoon, but the host said they were full (this is typical). There were 3 tables out of like 60 occupied. I pointed this out and they grudgingly agreed to seat us. But only at a high top - which was fine. We had drinks and a few appetizers. After an hour or so, the host came to talk to us and said that they had a reservation for that table and asked if we could move to the bar. Not a big deal. There were still probably 10 open tables, but no big deal. We moved. 45 minutes later, I went to the bathroom and noticed that our table was sitting there empty. I found the host and asked what the deal was. First he said that there was a reservation. I pointed out that the table was empty. Then he said that there was a 2 hour limit on tables. I pointed out that we were actively ordering and there were tables open. He had no answer and just kept saying that he was sorry we were unhappy. I recently hosted my daughter's wedding there, so we are certainly fans of the RB Inn and have spent A LOT of $ there, but wow... I have never been made to feel so cheap and unwanted as a customer as that day. This isn't the first time I've received the "we don't want you here" vibe on the patio, but it was certainly the worst. It's just so nice, that we've kept going back and taking it. I'm done, though. BTW - the hotel, event staff and fine dining are great. For some reason, the patio staff just seems to be very condescending.

Pleasantly surprised after reading some of the reviews. Most of the food we ordered was great. Definitely order the bread service. They make their sourdough loaf fresh and it’s served warm and toasty with some amazing spreads (the honey whipped butter was my favorite). No longer are the days where bread is complimentary, but it didn’t make me regret paying the $9. The Brussels sprouts were delicious and it’s served with a whipped goat cheese (ohh emm gee!!). My steak wedge salad was mediocre and not worth $30. However, the tiger prawns served over polenta with greens was pretty amazing. It comes together with a Calabrian pepper and sun-dried tomato sauce. The Paloma cocktail I ordered was terrible and I returned it to the bar after a couple of sips. I really loathe having to do that, but I also don’t want to pay $18 for a cocktail that was poorly made. I appreciate it being taken off my bill. Randy our server was very nice. The staff made sure we were comfortable with the heated lamps brought right to our table. It was a cold, chilly night but it’s definitely a lovely establishment to have dinner outside with the white lights and live music. We were also guests staying overnight for a “staycation” so we had a convenient walk back through the charming grounds to our suite. Even if you’re not guests staying at the RB Inn, I would highly recommend it to all San Diego locals. Expect to spend around $70 (+/-) per person including tax, service fee, and gratuity.

I rarely review restaurants or businesses in general, but I have chosen to post, hoping someone with the power to make a change will see my review. The RB Inn is a beautiful resort with fantastic views, impressive architecture, a great spa, and excellent golf. My family and I go there often and love taking friends and family to its facilities. That said, we had a very disappointing experience last night at the Veranda. It took quite some time to get drinks, a working heater, bread, and water. I opted for the swordfish sandwich, which had a razor thin piece of fish, stale bread, and fries (when a veggie substitution was requested). Our foursome spent $300 and I can safely say not a single person in our party left impressed with the food and/or service. The staff was super nice and we tipped well and were kind and understanding of our servers, but having spent 10 years in the restaurant business, I can confidently say that efficiency and attentiveness left much to be desired. They certainly worked hard and tried to accommodate our requests, but apparently the restaurant was understaffed. Finally, I'd like to address the pricing. We are happy to pay extra for fine dining and regularly frequent such restaurants throughout San Diego. In this experience, we did not get what we paid for. In addition, charging $65 for a $20 bottle of Justin Cabernet is an excessive upcharge. Hopefully, we can revisit in the future with different results.
0/5 food 4/5 service 3/5 atmosphere Perhaps one of the worst sensations a human being could experience, is paying a lot of money, and getting very little for it. The food came in pathetic portions, and was flavorless. I ordered the chicken sandwich with a buffalo romesco sauce. The chicken was as moist as a summer’s day in the Sahara. The buffalo “romesco” was completely devoid of any flavor. And to add insult to injury the sandwich set me back $21. By the looks of the menu, it seems like the restaurant once had a competent chef who made delicious food. But today it seems like that cannot be further from reality. I have never written a review for a restaurant, but the food was so expensive and so abysmal I felt the need and responsibility to warn the public of this scam of a restaurant. If you enjoy beautiful scenery and fantastic service. But hate food that tastes like anything; this is the restaurant for you!

Located at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, The Veranda Fireside Lounge and Restaurant is a great spot for an outdoor sunset dinner. Our server Vicky was knowledgeable, quick and provided great service. Food is fresh and seasonal. Ask for a table on the front wall and enjoy views overlooking the golf course and fountains. Be sure to come early or stay after in the outdoor lounge around one of the fire pits or fireplaces. Check the website to see if they have live music as the schedule varies The Veranda at the Rancho Bernardo Inn is a hidden gem in this town that many locals frequent . They offer an outdoor patio area with stunning views of the golf course and evening sunsets. Music is offered on the weekends, which is great to just hang out and have a glass of wine . I was here just last night with my best friend, and we had great service from our server Vicky. Great food , quiet atmosphere and amazing service .
Exceeded expectations in service and food. As the #2 place on site, it was surprising to see the Veranda as still at least $40 pp, but it delivered an experience worth it's cost. Top of the list, the service here is absolutely 5 stars. My server on day one was 6 stars; delivering attention, space, service, perfection. Day two in group dining we never had empty glasses, good attention, no issues to fix. Day three bar service was professional, quick, and adapted well to 20 ppl joining the scene at 10pm. Food quality is well executed. Interesting ingredients, delivered as requested. Pasta was a filling meal with good taste. Burger was elevated. The menu isn't excellent and could improve, but delivers on the staples and a few other options. I do not give out five stars often, but the Veranda staff earned it.

Came here on a Friday morning for brunch and they were a little understaffed so it took awhile to be seated and our food to come out. But the hostess and waitress were very nice and doing their best. Ordered the chilaquiles with the waitress' recommendation and it was delicious. The tortilla chips were big and crunchy. The salsa verde had a nice little kick to it. It was a large dish! My friend ordered and liked her Shaved ham and eggs Benedict dish too. We sat outside because it was a nice day and there is a nice view of the golf course. Lots of patio heaters to keep us warm too.

There's nothing like lunch at Veranda! One of my favorite things to do is to sit out on the patio overlooking the immaculate golf course and eat some amazing food!!!! Today, I had my favorite Market Salad with grilled salmon! My husband had the BLTA with sweet potato fries!! Perfect! Literally!!! One can never pass up the world famous bread pudding !!! It does not matter if you don't like bread pudding. You will love theirs!!! Last but not least is the service! Debbie was our server today, and I've had the pleasure of being served by her on a number of occasions, and she is the best!!! 5 stars for you, Debbie!!! In the midst of a terrible time in the world, today's lunch at Veranda reminded us to cherish one another and have great food together with those you love ❤️!

I stayed at the hotel twice and dined here 4 times. The food over all is very good. The cinnamon roll is absolutely the best I have ever had. It comes a bit gooey in the middle. I personally like it a bit more crispy and when asked it came nice and well done which was just perfect. The waffles were great, Chilaquiles Verde was also very good. We only had breakfast here so I can't speak of their lunch and dinner. We did order room service which was from Veranda. The steak was okay , the hot dog was not good at all mu son didn't even touch it. The Caesar salad was good. The biggest issue I had was the 35 dollar room service fee plus a 5 dollar delivery fee, which I feel was just too much. The out door is great, indoor is okay. The service is great. So here is the verdict 4.5 for Service 4.5 for breakfast 3.5 Coffee 3 room service food
The view is beautiful sitting outside, being able to overlook the golf course. I felt as though I could sit there all day enjoying myself. The food unfortunately did not match the view and friendly customer service. I ordered an American breakfast and found that my eggs were over cooked (I ordered over medium, but eggs came out over hard). And I did not prefer the turkey bacon either. For the price and setting, I would have hoped for a better tasting breakfast. I would like to visit again and try another dish- if nothing else, but to enjoy the ambiance.

Was here recently for the 1st time and unfortunately wasn't impressed, but there were a number of positives that need to be said. The patio is very large and decored in the style of a spanish villa which made for a relaxing atmosphere. The views of the golf corse and surrounding area is nice. Servers were nice and pretty speedy. Menu choices were abundant, but very pricey. I settled on the shaved ham with eggs benedict and raspberry iced tea. Our party also ordered their cinnamon rolls (came with a sauce, some kind of melted cheese, and two strips of bacon), belgium waffles, and burgers. Unfortunately the food is the reason for the low stars. Honestly, it was not good! Even the drinks (tea, coffee...were disappointing).

With restrictions loosening up a bit we've been trying to find new outdoor local spots to hang out. We have been to Veranda in the past but not for a while. I remember their dinner was decent, was crowded so it was a different experience. We stopped by for lunch, still busy but we were seated right away. This was a first where we've been brought a bottle of water in lieu of glasses but it was quite nice. Staff was great from being seated to service. My husband got the Ahi Tuna sandwich and said it was delicious. I opted for the margarita flatbread which was tasty as well, like a woodfire pizza. Standard beer and vodka club soda to drink. Clean, friendly staff, fairly reasonably priced, an overall great place.

I would give the location 5 star because it was in a beautiful golf course. Service is just okay. We were celebrating a bday and placed that on our reservation, but nobody paid attention to it. We don't want any free stuff but somebody acknowledging it shows that you are paying attention to your customers. Food is not worth the expensive price and small amount. Husband order a steak salad and there are maybe 5 small strips of steak hidden under the salad. Lobster roll just okay. Presentation is not appetizing. Not impressed with the food choices on brunch menu.

The staff is absolutely amazing!! Great service the atmosphere is great, great views the fireplace going and music playing was perfect however the food was over done, meet was dry the potatoes the only good thing on my plate. Carrots were actually black abs not editable. When your paying this price for dinner you expect fairly close to perfect or atleast good. Was mother's day could have been due to volume. My husband and I are staying at the Rancho Bernardo Inn this week for our honeymoon and while the rest of the resort is absolutely breathtaking and the front desk staff is amazing, we were disappointed by the Veranda restaurant. Our server was cold and short with us, and even laughed at us when we ordered spiked lemonades. He also took down the umbrella over our table and almost hit me in the head but I ducked away just in time. The food was okay, but just okay. The portions were really small for what we paid. Honestly, we really wanted to like this place but we didn’t feel accommodated at all.
One of the best alfresco options in Rancho Bernardo area. The restaurant overlooks golf green and a fountain. The views are very relaxing and peaceful. They recently changed their menu and I must say they improved it tremendously. There are many gourmet delicious dishes from soups, to salads, to main entrees. Their cocktail menu is fun. You might want to try a few different cocktails. Service is decent.

This is our absolute favorite Happy Hour (HH) place to go to. They have HH everyday and there's something for everyone. The Veranda has gorgeous views along with fireplaces and heaters for chillier days. Highly recommend the brussels sprouts, they are to die for! We honestly just get one of everything on the HH small plates menu because at $5/plate, why not? And we've enjoyed every dish. I always go for a glass of house sparkling but they have a few beers on draft for HH as well. Stay past HH for live music after every day. Make a reservation on the weekends as they do fill up.
Beautiful atmosphere for a morning breakfast. There were a few hiccups in service. They used green goddess salad dressing instead of salsa verde in my Chilaquiles by accident (which was corrected after Sara checked back in after a few bites). I wasn’t provided new silverware when my back up dish came so I had to swoop a set off the table next to me. The salt shaker was empty so I grabbed off the same neighboring table. Basic mistake, the dinner crew just need to make sure they do side their work post shift. I will be back for sure, the rest of the menu looked great.
The Rancho Bernardo Veranda Fireside Lounge Restaurant is the perfect location to meet up with Clients & Friends. Rancho Bernardo Inn is a destination resort known for its exquisite golf, spa facilities. The Veranda Fireside lounge with seating outside has amazing views. We decided to start with their Brussel Sprouts appetizer with a tangy goat cheese and balsamic reduction was really good. We both had dinner salads and after trying them both we agreed the Caesar Salad with the BBQ charred shrimp was the best. You cant go wrong here and the service was 5 stars too!
Mashed potatoes accompanying short ribs were not salted. Apple cobbler was not baked/browned. Cocktails, octopus appetizer, margarita flat bread, roasted carrots, and ice cream we're all good. Outside dining is pleasant, and the service is commensurate with the price point. However, missing food basics at this price point makes it difficult to recommend.

A great place for a great breakfast. Very comfortable and ideal for long conversations. The service is right on time (as opposed to those waiters that circulate on plutos orbit and you never see, here they are on yours). Outside seating is very comfortable even in December. Service was very good for a very busy evening. The goat cheese starter was very good. My partner's scallops were delicious. My halibut was not as good. Mushrooms were dried up and fish was under seasoned but still a very piece of fish. Parking at the Rancho Bernardo Inn was crowded but still able to find a spot not too far away.

I am reviewing this place after I came to eat here three times. Dinner was less impressive than brunch. The price is high and the service I got that night wasn't very knowledgeable. Delicious, delicious food. The table ordered a round of starters; baked goat cheese, brussel sprouts, and hummus and tapenade. Each was good, but the baked goat cheese definitely stood out. I had the scallops which were very flavorful, but the dish itself is small. If you're really hungry, you might want to go with something else. Then we shared desserts, the lemoncello cheesecake was the tables favorite, with bread pudding coming in close second, and the creme brulee coming in last.
My date took me here for Valentines Day and this was one of the best meals I've had in years. First off, the atmosphere was perfect, servers were always nearby to help us and absolutely friendly, and the food was amazing. It may be pricy (16 to 30 per meal), but if you're coming for an event or holiday, then it's absolutely worth it. I had never been here before, but I will gladly come again!

The atmosphere was great, the food was okay yet nothing special or that you wouldn't receive at your table at a local chain restaurant. At least for lunch, perhaps dinner is better? I went here for a work function and had a awesome experience. It was about 12 of us and they were easily able to handle our group. There was live music that was a perfect match to the tranquil and serene ambiance. The table had flatbread, Brussels sprouts and wings as apps. All were delicious and flavorful. For the main course I had rigatoni and for dessert I had peach cobbler. Both were great!

Came here to have lunch to celebrate my birthday. Everything was way overpriced. Do not ask for the skirt steak. For $40, you get a small steak and fries, no sides, no nothing. And at the end, there was a $10 surcharge due to inflation. And then the flies kept on attacking our plates; we couldn't even relax to enjoy the view. Not coming back.

Beautiful views, great service. I've been coming here for many years and I have always had a pleasant time. Sitting outside overlooking the golf course with a cool breeze blowing, what's not to like. I have been somewhat disappointed lately with the quality of the food, it hasn't been up to their normally high standards. That is the reason for the 4 star rating.
We have been going to the Veranda for years but last night I paid $42 for a small overcooked tasteless piece of halibut with a few little pieces of pickled cauliflower on the side. Very disappointing! Not the value it used to be.

Review is for dessert only. We stayed at the inn so we grabbed late night dessert. Both desserts were average. It didn’t taste fresh and it was overpriced for what it was. Nothing unique about them. No service because it was their closing time so I had to go to the bar to order which was crowded, sticky and loud. Cute outdoor area next to the fireplace.

I could sit on the patio at Veranda for hours with a cup of coffee and my girlfriends, and that is exactly what we did! Great brunch spot, wonderful service & attention to detail. The Chilaquiles Verdes were fabulous, still crispy as we made our way through the huge serving (we easily split among the 3 of us). Highly recommend!
Delicious. Although service could’ve been a little better depending on what time of the day you go. The warmth of the food was warm, could’ve been the amount of orders we had or party. Which this case they should’ve better manage or streamlined the food. I’ve got to say the half chicken and chicken sandwich are my favorite.
Lunch was so underwhelming. The BLTA, dry. Muffellta was all bread and very little meat, dry. Cobb salad ok. Food uninspiring. Disappointed as they have a good reputation. Unfortunately will not return, as the setting is lovely. Food sub par.

Outside seemed nice. Made mistake of eating inside where service was slow and smelled a bit of a locker room. Cool tables with 4” slab table tops, but sticky with bar residue. More menu selection than classier upstairs venue but prices not proportionately adjusted. Portabella burger was worthy.
We had an amazing experience for my sister’s birthday tonight. Our server Emily and the two helping, Adrian and Isaiah were really attentive and gave us great service. I’d definitely return again and recommend it for a special occasion. The drinks are on point and the food is delicious.
We’ve been coming here for a few years for the view and outdoor space. The food was always just ok. We recently went and we’re pleasantly surprised they have a new menu! Not sure if it’s a new manager or new chef but we love the changes! Now we will be coming back for the food ☺️
Attended a very lovely bridal shower in the outdoor seating under the umbrellas. The food was delicious. I ordered the lobster roll and tomato soup. The tomato soup was excellent. The bread on the lobster roll was toasted to perfection and the lobster filling was very delicious.

Very nice experience. The waiters were very busy . The meals were very good. The sweet potato fries are my hubby's favorite.

Good ambiance, lovely sitting but totally overpriced. The seabass was rather dry, no bread offered. For the price range I would expect way better food

We came here to see the sunset, and was surprised that they have good happy hour small plate and drinks. A good place to spend a leisure day.

Great take on an Indian name, albeit with equally good views of fountains and a golf course in panorama view. A Bourbon drink and an appetizer for accoutrements and there is nothing in the world you’ll ever want.
Great food, beautiful views, fantastic service. I have zero complaints about this spot. Enjoy a nice shaded meal on the patio and watch some golfers tee off. You can’t go wrong with anything you choose here More
Each week that we visit Rancho Bernardo, we have at least once lunch here.

The atmosphere is worth the price of the bad food. That’s all I can say. I ordered a burger MEd rare. It came well done and I couldn’t eat 1/2 of it.

Great ambience! The bread offering and flatbread were good but avoid the bolognese rigatoni. Absolutely no seasoning!

Food was great the atmosphere is beautiful and the waitress was amazing. I don't think my drink every went un filled and she was very well versed in what to recommend from drinks to the food. More
Beautiful outdoor setting with great service and very enjoyable food. We ordered the eggs benedict, good morning burger, lunch burger, and lobster roll+tomato bisque and no one was disappointed.
Food tased I liked the chicken wings, price is good, $5 only at happy hour, 2 - 5 pm. The outside sitting is nice, can see the golf yard & feel the warm sun & breeze. Very enjoyable. …
Lovely setting outside with heat lamps and a fire if needed. Acoustic musicians allows for great ambiance on the weekends. A nice walk through the gardens before or after a meal is beautiful.
Excellent! Perfect! Beautiful place, location and service. Food was very elaborate and tasty. 10 for everything.
