"I always go to the Phillips Hwy location, which is awesome, but I decided to try this location down on the riverwalk"
Convenient stop for food along the south bank riverwalk. Portions and quality are good, if a bit pricey for breakfast. You pay for the atmosphere and a few extras like home baked goods and craft fountain sodas. It was worth it to me as a treat while I was downtown for an appointment. It's order at the counter, choose your own table, they'll bring it to you. Repeat your order back to make sure all items are included, my drink was missed. No biggie, it gave me a chance to place a second order for a muffin I had debated on. Dining room is huge and some of the tables have a nice view of the river. Cozy after brunch nook with sofas and free newspapers to catch up on. Some nice photographic artwork of landmarks in the area. The riverwalk in this area contains a river taxi stop, the Lone Sailor statue and a view of the USS Orlek battleship that is docked across the river. Free street parking is possible across the street from River Place Tower, but a limited number of spaces. The paid lot is adjacent to the building if you don't want to walk. The cafe is located ground floor in the Ameris tower, with nice public restrooms across the hall. Entrances from the riverwalk or the office building lobby.

Village Bread Cafe, hands down is one of the best cafe's on the South Side of the River!! I eat here often and what I can say is they pride themselves on being consistent. The customer service is consistent. The portion sizes are consistent. The menu is consistently amazing and I've enjoyed picking different things on the menu to try. Can I just say consistently consistent??!!! If you are looking for an entire vibe with great food and beautiful views to dine, stop in and see the crew at Village Bread at 1301 Riverplace Blvd. Ask for the Jalepeno Crawfish soup-I promise you will not be disappointed. Delilah and her crew are hands down, one of the best crews in Jacksonville.

The place is nice & right on the Riverfront. The breakfast once we finally got it was delicious. We met friends there for breakfast. They arrived before we did & were enjoying their food. We placed our order at the counter, took our number sign & sat down with our friends. We continously asked when we would get our food & were told it would be out asap. About 45 minutes later still no food. We asked for a Manager because people who came in long after us had their food & some had eaten & left. We were told the Mgr. was late but would see us as soon as he arrived. We waited another 15+ minutes & no food. Finally the food arrived & as I said it was hot & good but we wanted the Mgr still. He finally came to our table to apologize & offer reasons (excuses) for poor service. We wanted a credit to our Credit Card & he agreed it would be fair. Hopefully they correct the problem asap because the food is on point & the location on the Riverfront is really nice. You might even see a school of Dolphins swimming pass. Selina D., Decatur, GA.

I have now been to the village bread cafe more than 5 times as it is so conveniently located on the Southbank Riverwalk where I go for my walks. The cafe's location and overall ambience of the place deserve 5 stars. It is well kept, clean, brightly lit and decorated with beautiful photographs of the riverwalk. The prices are reasonable and the portions are good. I have ordered an omelette 4 times along with a pancake or waffle which I share with my husband. The pancake is always consistent. Fluffy, large and served with lots of syrup and butter. Waffles are pretty good too. But the omelette differs every time. sometimes thick and soft; sometimes flat and rubbery! Apart from this, the food is good and wholesome. Everything is beautifully served on white plates, specially the fries in little containers. Their service is excellent every time. Smiling and courteous staff. A very pleasant breakfast or lunch place. The menu has a good selection of sandwiches and platters. They also have a coffee and smoothie bar. will keep visiting this on many more mornings!
I always go to the Phillips Hwy location, which is awesome, but I decided to try this location down on the riverwalk. Highly disappointed!!! :( My food came out undercooked. I showed it to a really nice dining room attendant and she took it back to get it fixed. My hashbrowns were so undercooked, they were cold and raw, turkey bacon was not cooked all of the way either. They asked the kitchen to cook the hashbrowns and bacon crispy. All I really wanted was for it to be cooked all of the way. I was told it would take 20 minutes to cook the hashbrowns crispy so I opted for something else. I did ask for the bacon to be cooked some more and as I was walking away a woman in the kitchen said “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” I ended up not even eating the bacon because I felt uncomfortable about how it could have been handled after that inappropriate comment. I saw several other tables send their food back too. Waste of money! Won’t be back!
Ordered a Ham and Cheese Omelet and received a Omelet full of Mushrooms. After taking the plate back waited another 10 minutes for another one. The guy brings my plate back this time with no Hashbrowns. He then says I am sorry forgot to tell you we ran out of potatoes I say to him you got to be kidding me he says hold one second he goes back to the kitchen and bring me the first plate i had with the Hashbrown on it. I looked at him like he was crazy. I told him i will not eat that first of all it was cold he says I put it in the microwave I dont eat microwave food at home and I'm certainly not eating that... after about 30 minutes Manager comes sit down with me and apologize. He gave me my money back. The second Omelet did taste good ... Bad first experience. Picture shown is the first plate I received and had to return

Working in the same building as this place, it’s the go to option when you don’t have time between meetings and you forgot your lunch. By the time you add things up, it can be a little pricey for a quick work cafeteria stop off, but the food is consistently good quality and tasty (I like the Village Clubhouse ). Their best asset is their people. If they don’t enjoy dealing with all the time, they should win an Oscar - because they are the friendliest folks ever. Is it my first choice for a leisurely weekend lunch? No. (It’s wheelhouse is made to order quick pickup and scamper back to your desk!) but, is it better than the reputation of “the only cafe in the building? Absolutely! PS: bonuses- they’ll cater continental breakfast for a work meetings, offer a variety of smoothies , bagels, eclairs, and more for breakfast goodies.

Wasn't expecting to get pancake with syrup inside my omlet... Ordered an omelet with cheddar, ham, Green pepper and tomatoes. Received that omelet with Yellow pepper instead, no big deal. Ate the omelet, it was ok... had a slight sweetness to it and I told myself it was probably a sweet ham, not what I would have chosen. At the end of the omelet I finally opened it up and there was the LAST piece of the, unmistakable, pancake piece with syrup. Bleh. Clean place, friendly staff. Service was slow but there was a table of complainers that may have held things up... maybe.. just maybe they were upset they didn't get their omelet with pancake in it? Who knows. All I can say is I am just looking forward to lunch in St. Petersburg.
I would give this place 20 stars if I could. The food was excellent and they gave you a lot. The staff went above and beyond to give us the best service we've ever had. Brenda was truly beyond amazing. I cannot begin to give enough compliments to her and all of the staff. We are so happy that we found this place because we were looking for something simple and we found this place kind of by accident. It was quiet and clean and just like eating at home. So comfortable and much appreciated considering it's so hard to find a restaurant like this anymore. Thanks to all that made our experience amazing on our vacation. We will be back when we pass through Jacksonville again.

This place has no service. First they messed up our order. When i came, we told them that we did not order 2 grilled cheese sandwiches. The waitress told us that in order to take out of the check we had to talk to the manager (what customer service). Second, they forgot to bring the sauce on the side. Third, we told them that the milk was missing, the waitress told us that she would be right back and never came back. After half an hour we had to go and bug that we have not gotten the milk. And I want to highlight that the occupancy was only 10%, the place wasn’t crowded. There was no excuse to deliver such bad service.
I have been a customer of Village Bread since moving to Jacksonville over 12 years ago. They were amazing on San Jose and they are even more amazing at Riverplace Tower. The view is stunning and the food is just as amazing as it ever was. Kelly and his staff know how to make you feel at home and welcomed! So whether you are going for breakfast or lunch you will not be disappointed. They are one of my favorite restaurants if you cannot already tell. Lastly did I mention the view! Check them out and I am sure you will love them as much as I have!
Everything on the menu is great, and affordable. They're also one of the few places in town you can easily dock a boat! Highly recommended!! Bring your boat too!! :)

The location on Riverplace Blvd. was absolutely amazing. My company hosted a conference at a nearby hotel, and we ordered lunch here for three days. Each day, the staff was super helpful and friendly. The store owner even met me personally to ensure that I was taken care of since we had such a large order. I could not recommend this place enough! Great food and great service.

I arrived early for a meeting in the building and remembered there was a cafe. I was blown away by the size and view! My first thought was that you could have a massive party here. I got a coffee and burrito with hash and I added peppers. It was perfect. These guys are open early every morning but Sunday. There were boat folks who pulled up at the dock. We need more of this. Highly recommend.

Easier to find from the Riverwalk than the street! It's located inside Riverplace Tower. We ordered at a counter and they brought our food to the table. My wife and I agree that the food was on par with a great diner. My wife had her Soon-To-Be-Famous Breakfast Of Sides (hashbrowns, bacon and wheat toast), and I had the usual eggs, sausage patties, hashbrowns, etc. A great choice for breakfast if you're staying in a hotel in the area.
Staying across the river at the Hyatt and the 20 minute walk across the bridge is 100% worth it. Best breakfast I’ve had in a long time with really good pricing. Get a lot of great food! I accidentally ordered too much but it was worth every bite.

FOOD AND SERVICE IS GREAT!!! I GAVE THIS PLACE 3 STARS BECAUSE THE LADY ON THE REGISTER ALSO TOUCHES THE FOOD THAT COMES OUT WITH NO GLOVES. I SAW HER BASICALLY YAWN IN HER HAND, PULL HER PANTS UP SEVERAL TIMES AND WIPE HER HANDS ON HER CLOTHES. SANITATION IS A SERIOUS SUBJECT THESE DAYS AND THAT IS JUST UNACCEPTABLE.. IF YOU TOUCH A CUSTOMERS FOOD WITH YOUR HANDS YOU SHOULD BE WEARING GLOVES!!!
Great place for lunch, every time I patron the business it is very clean, bright, friendly staff, great view, and great food for a reasonable price.

The ladies working were nice and attentive, no complaints. The place was clean and airy, nice atmosphere. The coffee was awful. $4 for drip coffee and it was so bad. The latte was a milky mush. Food was tasty and not badly overpriced (unlike the coffee).

Dry grits. Runny eggs. Soggy French toast. Muffins taste like pure sugar. First Watch, Another Broken Egg, Waffle House, any other brunch place in the city is a better choice. This is Denny’s and IHOP type of food.

I work at the daycare in the building and I come here a few times each month for lunch and breakfast. The food is always top notch quality. The service is always great even if they are busy. The prices are worth the portion you get with anything you order. This is a great establishment.
I stopped by this place after my walk and ordered a Mango bliss smoothie and it was extremely satisfying. The owner greeted us as soon as we entered and explained the different ingredients in his smoothies, which was so helpful. He was kind and because of that, I will forever go back.
Stopped in for a coffee, the view is amazing. The coffee was good, the cookie even better. But the music in this cafe is the best. I have been in here for the past 20 minutes and heard two Lynyrd Skynyrd songs after all we are in Jacksonville.)) the pics are of the view. …
Got the chicken and waffles and felt like the chicken could be seasoned more. You get a decent amount. Everything I've had has been good. Good breakfast spot and willing to try out more.

I absolutely adore this restaurant and the new Riverplace Tower location couldn't be more perfect. The view is outstanding, not to mention the amazing staff! The only thing better than their food is the exceptional service Kelly & his staff delivers!

This breakfast was phenomenal!! I cannot say I have had a better breakfast. We were in town for a small getaway and are very satisfied with the jewel we found here at Village Bread Cafe.
Amazing food and great service! Owner personally came to our table and greeted us. Will definitely be back here again! Their cold brew is strong and delicious!
We had a wedding reception here and it was great. The atmosphere is very nice with beautiful views of the river. Food was very good and staff was friendly.
Friendly Staff, quick service, and the view is fantastic for lunch. I had breakfast there the other day and really enjoyed it. Great way to start the day.
We ordered breakfast on DoorDash. The food was lukewarm. The grits were bland . The toast was butter free and their wasn’t any seasoning salt pepper.
Amazing fresh food!! Love all of their healthy nutritious food options and the view of the St.Johns River is great. Would definitely go back again
Very nice. Fresh food made to order, cafe style. Beautiful downtown view & have a walking path with benches outside. Will be back.
Great food and service. Wonderful view of the downtown and river. Highly recommended!!!
Great spot to drop in for a hot, fresh, and made to order breakfast.
