"I went shopping at around 4pm today, the lady at the checkout from the shopping centre side was very rude"
Horrible experience. I am sorry to say it is all because of my ethnic background, this is in 2023. I am as Waitrose member for almost 10 years . Today I went shopping and at the checkout I paid and left . After 20 minutes I came back as a travel card fell from my pocket when I paid . I came straight to the lady and asked her if she found a blue card , she started asking questions. As I cannot hear well usually I raised my voice to hear me nothing over she told me not to raise your voice and then the security man who happened to be near interfere and started interrogating me in the most abusive manner and took the card to the front desk refusing to give it back . I want to leave and leave it when I met the manager who was understanding and respectable. I told him about what happened and immediately went to the desk and gave me the card. The worst sort of racism and I have told the security man if I am white he will never treat me with such abuse telling me to shut up and close my mouth. I am 69 years old and getting such hatred, this is sickening.
Very bad experience in Waitrose Wandsworth. I am single mum, I wanted to do quick food shopping with my 2 children, when my 3 years old son started to have tantrums in the shop when we entered the shop, straight away very young manager came to me saying in front of other customers, that I will have to leave if my son won’t be quiet. As it is very stressful, difficult and embarrassing situation anyway with my son’s tantrums he made me feel even worst and very upset, so I left shop immediately without food for my boys. I know how it is annoying for others when my son starts tantrums, but I need to buy food somehow. I have never been treated like that in other shops. Thankfully there are other shops like Sainsbury’s near by where I could do shopping and been treated with understanding and respect. I will never shop in your Waitrose again.
Horrible experience. I have been shopping here for 3 years now and was never IDed buying beer or drinks (as I'm almost 30 and does not look remotely 25 or younger). Every time I was purchasing beer with my male partner who is the same age, we were not asked for IDs. The one time I was getting beer and wine, the lady at the check out asked for ID. Should I have been a white male like my partner or not POC, I doubt the staff would have asked for it. It is ridiculous that staff lack understanding of different appearances of people especially other races. The way that the staff communicated was really disappointing, she could have at least asked it for at the beginning straight away but she scanned the all the products and then kept me waiting then decided to ask for ID.
If only I could give 0 stars!! I don’t normally write reviews unless the service is exceptional or dreadful, in this case it’s the latter. Don’t bother with your time or money if your from an ethnic background. Went in today as I forgot to pick something up whist I was shopping in Sainsbury’s. The tall white young guy that usually man’s the self checkout by the main entrance gave me a stare.I was literally 2 seconds and he was gone!! No doubt to check the cctv because we people of colour all thief right? This is the second time I’ve experienced this, the first time I was literally followed and had to raise it with head office. I think I’ll stick to Sainsbury’s, better all round and I can shop in peace knowing I’m not under big brothers watchful eye.
I went shopping at around 4pm today, the lady at the checkout from the shopping centre side was very rude. I asked about who can I help with the App issue, because I cannot scan by my phone, she keep telling me that I can only the voucher twice a week for at least 5 times and ignoring what I am asking about, just because I used voucher today. I never asked about voucher. She never listened to me properly, just kept telling me the exact same sentence repeatedly, acting like I could not understand her English.
I’ve never had to search for items up and down the whole store before like I have done here. Everything’s spread all over the place and the layout doesn’t make any sense at all. Luckily, the staff were friendly and able to tell me where to go but I’ll never be coming back - I’ll go across the street to Sainburys where they have logic to their systems Also - the self scan machines they have are a waste of time & cause huge lines because none of them work correctly. Frustrating everyone in the store
I came here today because the shower gels, hand soaps and eggs were sold out elsewhere. Lol. Yet this store is the place for good fresh cakes, chocolates and fruits. The cafe is nice except you can't take purchases from the shop part to eat there. You have to order from the menu. Now that the 1-free tea is available to shoppers with a Waitrose card and your own cup, I don't pass by a Waitrose just to get the free hot beverage. Always nice to pass by though.
Extremely poor service, the lady at the till was literally laughing and telling everything about her plans to the guy next to her, making jokes and saying how tired she was, and the gentleman at the entrance of the supermarket who I assume is there to welcome the client was too busy checking his phone as to even say good bye when I said it to him. Honestly, one would expect a bit more from Waitrose.
At the self check as that's how all these shops wants us to pay now. No one there. Had to ask someone in aisles to come over. Barely said a word, walked off. Needed another issues sorted no one around. Another member of staff arrived and again no customer service, barely a word spoken. Waitrose Wandsworth poor.
This is by far the worst Waitrose you will shop at. Customer service is practically nonexistent here and nowhere near the usual John Lewis standard. I don’t know who is managing this store but they need to select their partners much more carefully and train them properly
Shopping in Waitrose is a relaxing experience. I shop here frequently. It's a clean we'll keep store, staff are very helpful. I was served by a very lovely lady on the checkout (Paulette). A credit to Waitrose. Good staff are very hard to find.
Big, spacious, well organised store. Huge selection of different products. This store represent quality and reliability. Also, the staff was really kind and helpful at the checkout, assisted & advised. Popped in during the week around noon
This particular Waitrose is extremely stressful thanks to the customer service staff and their manager. They are stroppy, angry and they interrogate people whether or not they have actually paid for the plastic bags you purchase. There is
Excellent service. It seems they have invested into a lot of young, energetic members of staff willing to go the extra mile. Very clean store with great customer service and a variety of products. I get to have a free hot drink with my
Staff was rude in two occasions. I work in retail and I know how stressful the job can be...but if a customer approaches you with best manners you don't answer like "you should know..."
I bought milk from there not knowing is expiring the next day I went back to exchange it for a longer date with 8mins of living the store they refused to take it back
Good sized Waitrose in Southside shopping centre, decent selection of food but seems to shut quite early and there are very few self-service checkouts.
Some entitled, miserable and lazy staffs. Some very nice. Used to have good quality product and produces but not any more :(
Have we fallen so far as a nation that even Waitrose has gone to the dogs?
*Notice* The staff here are extremely rude.
