Situated about 1.5 miles away from the iconic CSMT Rly Stn, next to Churchgate Rly Stn and a few blocks away from the popular Marine Drive, Wankhede Stadium is (currently) the only int cricket stadium in Mumbai with capacity of c 33,000 spectators. There are several stands/pavilions (hereinafter used interchangeably in this review) named after various great state-born cricket players, and other personnel viz. Sachin Tendulkar (Third man/Long On), Dilip Vengsarkar (Fine Leg/Long Off) ( a review is separately available ), Sunil Gavaskar (Deep Square/Deep Point), Garware (same as DV), Vijay Merchant (same as SG), and Divecha (deep mid-wicket/between third-man and deep backward point) (a review is separately available) et al. Parenthesis mentioned in the prev statement are cricket field position names to which the particular stand offers the view of. Items like inflammable articles, coins, bottles, power banks, chargers, i.a. are not allowed in the premises (the list is not exhaustive and will be available on the ticket). Generally, there will be 1 or 2 shops at any entrance road (outside the stadium premises) where such items can be kept, but this shall attract high charges, and obviously so. The entry to the stadium will have two checks ideally. Needless to say, the earlier one comes the lesser the queue and wait time. Entry gates ideally open 2 hrs prior to the match's scheduled start. The road leading to Gate 3 is the one through which the team busses get in and out, so if you want to see your favourite players in the bus, and waive a hi to them, stand opposite the signal of that road. There are AC rooms in every stand having about 40 seats with a TV at the side showing the live coverage. For any given match, this box shall not cost anything below Rs 12,500. These charges will generally include free beers, packaged drinking water and separate lavatories. For first level stand&upwards, the end of the stand has a waist height ~0.75 meters, which means a person having an average height is susceptible to falling when passing from (in front of the) first row. The railings at other places like from top stair to bottom are either absent or incomplete. Such an inadequate presence of safety amenities (as described above) is nothing short of shame, given the popularity of the game, the audience it attracts round the year and prices being charged i.a. The best position to watch is ideally exactly the area behind yet above the sight screen (ss. the first floor), but it is unlikely for the general public to have access to such stands, and even if there is, given that it offers the best view, would cost ~Rs 10,000. So, for the vox populi the best place would be close to stands at either of the sight screens ( which in this case would be any of the ST, DV and GW pavilions ). The chairs are compact, and the legroom is quite less, say, the same as that of economy class flights. The lower the location of the stand, the higher the possibility to feature into the live telecast, and possibly be shown on the TV screens/other media. The two giant screens are located diagonally opposite the pitch. Merchandise shops are present in the premises depending on the pavilion. There are two first aid stalls available at the entrance of each stand, and this is something really worth appreciating. Free drinking water is available both at the entrance & at every floor. So are the washrooms. During my multiple visits, they were pretty clean initially, but by the half time, a stinking smell would come near it indicating that they weren't maintained thoroughly. The people responsible for the upkeep definitely do know that there would be high demand and people to cater to, and more so for Indian and IPL matches, and ergo should consider and should consider paying more attention to such aspects. Overall, the stadium, from the vox populi's perspective, isn't fully ready enough to host houseful matches, given the flaws highlighted above. N.B. Some contents of this review may also be applicable to the (separate) reviews of DV and Divecha pavilions.

Tips for anyone planning to visit the stadium for the ongoing Worldcup or otherwise. 1. I was seated in Dilip Vengsarkar Stand (formerly North Stand) at Level 1, 11th row from the boundary. We had unobstructed view of the entire playing field, and a good angle to both the bowling ends. AVOID first 7-8 rows from the boundary, as your view will be obstructed by grills, pipes, cameramen, etc. 2. Make sure you're reaching the stadium on time so that you can occupy your seats. The organisers showed complete ineptitude by having two sets of numbers on each seat, and nobody was clear which one to follow. 4 hrs into the match, people were still trying to locate own seats or to get rid of people occupying their seats, despite paying premium price. Plus the organisers somehow permitted more people in the stands than the total seats available. 3. There is continuous supply of food and beverages in the stands. Here are some rates for reference: Packet of 3 Samosas: Rs. 100 Ice Cream (cornetto types): Rs. 120 Mid size glass of cold drink: Rs. 100 Pizza (small size) or Frankie: Rs. 250 Water Bottle: Rs. 100 per litre without any lid. 4. BCCI promised Free Drinking Water for the whole tournament. As promised, there was free water available in first innings. But greedy organisers got rid of free water in second inning. You have to pay for water as well in second half. 5. This stand is under direct sunlight until 5pm or so. So make sure to stay hydrated and wear comfortable clothes fo avoid getting roasted. 6. Washrooms on Level 1 are dirty and unattended. Level 0 washrooms are bigger, less occupied and cleaner even at the end of the match.

I visited Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai recently to watch a Mumbai Indians match. It was an amazing experience to witness the game at one of the most iconic venues in the world. The stadium is located near the Marine Drive, overlooking the Arabian Sea, and has a beautiful view of the city skyline. The stadium was built in 1975 and has hosted many memorable matches, including the 2011 World Cup final, where India lifted the trophy on their home soil. The stadium has a capacity of 33,000 spectators and has a lively atmosphere with passionate fans cheering for their teams. The stadium is well-maintained and has modern facilities for the players and the spectators. The seats are comfortable and offer a good view of the pitch. The stadium also has a cricket museum, where you can see memorabilia from various cricket legends and events. The stadium is easily accessible by public transport and has ample parking space. There are also many restaurants and cafes nearby, where you can enjoy a variety of cuisines. Wankhede Stadium is a must-visit for any cricket lover who wants to experience the thrill of watching a match at a historic venue. It is a place where you can feel the passion and excitement of cricket in India.

It was my first time watching a live cricket match. I had been there to witness the clash between Mumbai and Bangalore. The nearest railway is Churchgate and it just takes 2 mins to reach the stadium. Food is expensive and there are a variety of options like momos, pizza, samosa,Vada pav and different soft drinks. Toilets are cleaned and well maintained. There is a huge security check at the gate entrance. Many things like backpacks, coins, water bottles etc are not allowed inside. Staff and security personnel inside the stadium are very helpful.Seats are quite compact and not that comfortable. The best view to see the match is either Sachin Tendulkar stand or Dilip Vengsarkar stand. Everyone from children to adults had come to watch the match and enjoyed it a lot. Also we received a free mumbai indians t-shirt after entering the stadium. Believe me the experience of watching a cricket match with so many crowds is really awesome. Also marine drive is near the stadium and one can enjoy a beautiful view there. Watching SKY playing those 360 shots erupted the whole crowd. Finally Mumbai Indians won the match and it was a full Paisa Vasool experience at the stadium.

I recently had the pleasure of attending a cricket match at Wankhede Stadium and I must say, it was an incredible experience! The stadium itself is absolutely stunning, with a modern design and top-notch facilities. Wankhede Stadium is an international cricket stadium in Mumbai, India. It is owned and operated by Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and is the home ground of the Mumbai Indians. It houses the headquarters of MCA, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and the Indian Premier League (IPL).The stadium is situated near Marine Drive in the Churchgate neighbourhood. Several old cricket clubs are near the stadium, including Hindu Gymkhana, Parsi Gymkhana and Cricket Club of India (CCI).The stadium has been host to numerous high-profile cricket matches in the past, most notably the 2011 Cricket World Cup Final, in which India defeated Sri Lanka and became the first country to win the Cricket World Cup on home soil. Experience was Surreal, Witness once of the Greatest Chase Ever in History of Cricket #AUSvsAFG CWC23. I was in Sachin Tendulkar Stand ,visibility was super . This is happening for the first time We were OFFERED FREE WATER. Only thing I want or disliked was the prices of Foods offered in Stadiums. I had 1 vada Pav for 80rs 50gms French Fries for 150 Burger for 350 These prices are overinflated prices. BCCI and MCA should look into this matter A ticket prices ranges from 800 to above 5000 We have already paid this much amount for tickets. So prices of Foods and Beverages should be kept Reasonable. Recommended Prices 1 vada pav for 40rs or 50rs ( you get a Happy Margin in this Price range ) Chicken Burger:- 150rs

Wankhede stadium ️ is huge and the seating capacity of people is something 3500 people. It was situated in CHURCHGATE STATION and one of the famous places in Mumbai that is marine drive the stadium is too near from the marine drive last to last 1 min you can reach the stadium. And one thing is the security is too Hard when you enter from the main gate some security officers are there to check the bags and person also when they clarify than you can go the stand and enjoy the match with your loved ones .

If you are a cricket fan you must visit a cricket stadium atleast once in your life and I got the apportunity to go to wankhede and fell the vibes.

  • Ravi Kumar Gupta

One of the best Cricket stadiums in the country. The stands are vertical so you get a closer view even from the top floor. The Crowd is always fantastic. Capacity is around 30,000. Its located at Marine drive so don’t miss out chilling by the sea after the match. If the sea breeze is cool then its one of the best experiences. Do go for a IPL match here to see the entire stadium painted in Mumbai Indians color unless its a match against CSK. I watched MI vs CSK season opener of 2018.

  • Omkar

Wankhede Stadium is an iconic cricket ground located in the heart of Mumbai. The stadium is well-maintained and offers a great viewing experience for cricket fans. The facilities are top-notch and the atmosphere during matches is electric. The seating is comfortable and provides a good view of the action on the field. The staff is friendly and helpful, making the overall experience enjoyable. I would highly recommend visiting Wankhede Stadium for any cricket enthusiast.

  • Satya Prakash

Electrifying crowd, good infrastructure, perfect view. They could do better in sitting area management as people sit randomly despite being allocated particular seats. Indian matches are heavily crowded and hence it’s advisable to reach at 1.5 hrs in advance. Parking is not available and you need to park your car at least 2 km away from the venue and take a kaali-peeli taxi to reach the venue. Except mobile and purse, nothing is allowed inside.

  • Nikhil Govale

The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and rich cricketing history. Known for hosting iconic matches, including the 2011 Cricket World Cup final, it offers a fantastic viewing experience with comfortable seating and excellent sightlines. The passionate crowd adds to the electric atmosphere, making it a must-visit for cricket enthusiasts.

  • Devendra Ghogale (Dev)

The amazing wankhade experience was surreal.. Crowd arrangements were fantastic and food available in respective stands. Proper water management and police were on their job perfectly. Aus vs Afganistan match turned out to be big show event for Maxwell scoring 201*. Nearby station are Churchgate for western and cst for central. Buses are available for commutation.

  • Tech Kamal

stadium was superb and to be honest, this was my first experience of seeing some international match with my own eyes. And this also became my first memory ""Se you wankhede we'll back soon with some new extra energy"" and all you guys who are planning to watch match from stadium please don't bring any type of accessories only Mobile's phone are allowed.

  • Saurabh Kane

If you want to experience electrifying atmosphere, head towards Wankhede Stadium Mumbai. If you want to see what cricket fan madness is, head towards wankhede stadium. If you want to see what do you mean by crowd as 13th player in cricket, Wankhede stadium is the place. I have deducted 2 stars in ratings because the seats are too small and conjusted.

  • Pradeep Mauryavanshii

Awesome experience of ICC world cup tournament between India and Sri Lanka. Crowd control was great, markings seating arrangements were wonderful. Long long security control for your own safety. No loose things like coins, sunscreen are allowed. Not even bags so while planning to see matches leave all things behind.

Stadium very good lots of ventalition clean but the vendor's selling bisleri at 100 rs an two samosas for 70 rs of third grade should not be allowed on sitting areas where all the viewers have to go for lots of security check but this people selling infiror quality eatables pls take some action

  • dhairya doshi

One of the best stadiums with great history. Please avoid Sunil Gavaskar stands for One day and Test Matches as the sunlight it's unforgiving till 5 PM. Do not carry coins, bags, food or bottles. Basically nothing extra is allowed. Travel by train is recommended due to the lack of parking

  • mamta thakur

The stadium is in a very lovely location near Marine drive. The seats are not comfortable. Outside food is not allowed. The snacks available inside the stadium are too costly (2 samosa are 70 rs, Small juice glass is 100rs etc). Otherwise it was a nice experience to watch a live match ☺️.

  • Debaprasad Barad

The best International cricket stadium situated beside the Merine drive of Mumbai City. An amazing experience to watch day and night match. The place awesome. A very big stadium, you can enjoy the match with very wide view. A great pitch view from close.... Awesome experience

  • Rahul Agrawal

Iconic stadium of India, was able to attend the IPL matches here. The structure and seating is old and gets suffocating when stadium is full. The eating vs price is pathetic inside as outside food is not allowed. There is a long walk from parking as security is very tight.

  • Dr Geetendra Singh

Very poorly managed by the MCA. The box seating is so bad and the quality of food is below average. Overall the cricket pitch is good but the stadium facilities are in very bad shape. It’s a money minting machine for bcci. But I doubt anyone care for public

  • Emma Takerei

CWC23 - hands down one of the most exciting and wonderful crowds I have ever been a part of. No alcohol and yet so much excitement and joy. No fights or rudeness, just a love of good cricket. Thanks so much for a wonderful, once in a lifetime experience!
