It’s alright not the best or not the worst. Teachers & coordinators: Overall the teachers are fine. Yes you do get those one to three teachers that swears and calls students idiots. Or don’t actually put effort into making students successful in their class. When it comes to physical health they show the importance a little too much. I think they could put more effort into students mental health than physical health. The coordinators are good at catching the people that skip classes and I’m never had a problem with the coordinators, they are good at their job. The teachers don’t pressure a lot with makeup since you always see students with heavy eyeliner and thick lashes. The coordinators do tell them to wipe it off but I feel like that is something the teachers could work on and tell those students off. Students: The students are okay. Bullying is usually around every school so there is not much you can do about it, except the main important thing is how the school handles it? I think wavell it fine at handling bullying. Wavell is better than most schools that handles bullying terribly. I have been bullied by 3 people for years at wavell. Really affected my mental health. Education: Pretty good except for the the teachers that don’t teach and just sit down on their chair and let to whole class be confused. Another thing I wanted to mention too is I feel like the class WDP form class should talk more about after school jobs and how important it is to put effort into school. Since most students don’t put effort, they only care about their looks, and the social life at school. Another thing I REALLY want to talk about it is They should ABSOLUTELY put more substitutes in Mathematics core!!!!! Definitely nothing changing my mind from that! it’s ridiculous how there’s no substitutes in core maths. I remember a rare moment where a substitute came into my core class and even more hands went up in the class to ask a question. I feel like just because those people are in core doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get substitutes in, because they put more effort than foundation. Plus I came from foundation and moved up to core like a year ago and there being no substitutes in the class really affected my math grades. The main good point is the diversity and cultures that is being exposed to the students. But I feel like they shouldn’t have the they/them and etc badges. It’s really not necessary. It’s meant to be a place for a school education, not an education of pronouns. I would say those paragraphs above are the main points that came into my mind! Yes there are many good points about wavell, that I didn’t completely mention. But those negative points that I feel like could be worked on, should definitely be. - From someone that is currently in grade 9
This school is terrible. To everybody wanting to send their children here, please consider CAREFULLY. I have never been more stressed out in my life trying to find schools that are suitable for my own children due to the bullying and harassment they experience not only from students, but staff too. It’s evident that Wavell only cares about their public image more than the mental health and needs of their students. Before the new principal (Liz Foster) was put into role, absolutely everything was well. Mr Major was an amazing person who helped my children achieve many goals, and succeed in their former education, however, this new principal has changed the school system for the worst. My daughter is currently battling depression and anxiety, she wanted to consult the school guidance officer and shortly after, did. Yet, even the guidance officer was absolutely terrible to her too. We were instructed to take some time away from school for ‘mental health breaks’, however, it was obvious that they didn’t want us to file a complaint or report against the guidance officer and the faculty members. This school has made.a devastating impact on myself and children. Please seek a different school.
Doesn't matter where you go, teachers will always be deverse in teaching methods as in any field of education. This is a historic review as l departed in 1978 and visiting the images on this site l realised little has changed. Whilst there I excelled in manual arts, the facility at the time had precision equipment to learn on with the very skilled trade teachers in the field. The education l received at Wavell has flowed through my entire working life and although it was a tough school in it's time where the girls could be as violent as the boys with bloody outcomes it seemed the norm at this time, but we were resilent and learnt many life lessions as well. I travelled mostly in north Qld working in construction, also 5 local governments to finally find my way back home to the south east. Now a Civil Construction Coordinator for the Lockyer Regional Council l acknowledge the teaching and life education l received whilst l was at Wavell as freash as if it was yesterday, it's travelled with me now for 43 years and remember Wavell as a fantastic school.
Love it. A great school which offers many oportunities...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
My experience with this school was mixed. The teaching could range anywhere between astoundingly good to horrifically poor. Maths, science, and language teachers were generally better while teachers in other subjects could go either way. The facilities in the school were okay. As time passed there were some improvements but the toilets and changing rooms were always gross and unsanitary. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon for many of the students to have poor behaviour and this has impacted both myself (back when I attended this school) and my siblings who are currently attending the school.
Bad school. My sister used to go there and had a terrible experience, most teachers were so bad they made students cry, the bullying is horrendous, students here are just straight up rude, from my own experience in meeting some. And some used to go to my primary school so I feel i’d know a lot about that. The rest of us 3 kids went to a different highschool and even moved houses, our grades are exemplar compared to my sister’s in wavell as the teachers there are unhelpful and rude. 100% don't recommend (work on firing some of those teachers, huh wavell)

A top notch state school that offers something for everybody. Really dedicated teaching staff and a strong admin team make this school a real alternative to the private schools in the same area. Our daughter moved here from a 'Christian' school and has never looked back. She's excelled academically, socially, and culturally since moving to Wavell, when she was really only doing so-so previously. Put your assumptions about public schooling aside and take a close look at Wavell. You won't regret it.
A good thing is we had 1 hour break and basketball was fun, that's about it. Majority of teachers are dogs, some racist, some sexist, some homophobic and some just pro power trippers. There were some really good teachers though. Esse Quam Videri. Our motto says to be rather than seem? although this school is a wannabe private school. A lot of things here just don't make sense and it would be a long book if I were to get into detail. If you want a depressed child, send them to Wavell.
I went to this school from year 7 to 8 and had to move for year 9 due to moving houses, and I was so upset about moving as I made great friends and some of the best memories while attending here. The school is nice, as it is a mix of diverse cultures and multicultural day was always the best. Had many inter and outer school activities to participate in. Overall, a pretty good school.
when i went here i didnt feel very welcomed i mean sure, students were nice, but the staff did the bare minimum to help me get started. overall, it just wasn't for me, partly because i found it hard to adapt since i prefer private schools, and also because i didn't really vibe with anyone. i did make some nice friends though
Amazing school with plenty of facilities to suit anyone. The teachers are fantastic and the classrooms and grounds are always kept in good shape. Great school to send your children for their secondary schooling.
school cares more about public image than the actual students in it. would rather bring random junior school students to graduation then the grade 12’s own families.
Used to play soggy biscuit with the boys back in the day here, good times. I used to always finish first because I never lose.
The best public school on the north side of Brisbane with a magnificent Industrial Technology & Design Department. 10/10
Worst school for ethnic Australian kids and i graduated over 20 years ago.. looks like it hasn't changed much
This school has great opportunities for all grades, toilets could do better but overall, good school
Love this school, went there 57 years ago! Made great friends that never let me down:)
Certainly a lot different under the leadership and tutleage of the new Principal.
