I want to share our experience with Westshore Roofing, who helped replace our leaky old tile roof in our home, replacing with asphalt shingles, replaced gutters and downspouts, and installed gutter screens as well. We worked very closely with Terry Zheng, who we have worked with before, and is a trusted agent for us. Terry came out and inspected our roof and saw the extent of the repairs needed, and fairly quickly recommended a whole roof replacement, given the age of our home and roof, the conditions seen upon inspection, and the surrounding neighborhood homes. We got other bids and quotes of course, and others thought that some patchwork repairs would be good enough. Terry was very consistent in his recommendation, and said if it were his home, he would do the whole roof repair. After comparing quotes and discussing with our family, we decided to go with Westshore, thinking that a whole roof repair would uncover all issues, perhaps cost a bit more than patchwork repairs, but would give us the certainty that all parts of the roof would be looked at and repaired. In retrospect, that decision was the best decision we could've made. Terry gave us a quote for the roof repair, and gave a rough estimate of the wood needed, but said that they wouldn't know the extent of the wood repair until the existing roof was removed. And as it turned out, the extent of wood damage was significant, and ended up dramatically increasing the cost of the repair. But, as we calculated, the patchwork repairs would have also been very expensive and would take more time if we continued, and it would only partially address our issues. With the whole roof repair, we were more certain that all issues of the roof would be resolved. The overall experience, from demo to install to finish with their main crew of 4-5 workers was first rate. They were on-time, professional, cleaned up everything, and didn't ask for any money (save for the $1000 deposit) until all of the supplies were purchased and repairs started. Once the wood repairs were known, Terry gave us an "all-in, no-nonsense" quote, and they stuck to that. A separate gutter crew came in after the roof was complete to install new gutters, downspouts, and screens. And finally, a touch-up crew came up to clean up some things we mentioned, all with no additional cost. Initial and final inspections passed with no issue. We paid our final balance once everything was complete, and never got any hassle from the company. Communication with the front office (Rob) was smooth, all of our questions and requests were answered promptly, and the roof looks great. We are very happy with the final product and service and would absolutely recommend Westshore Roofing to anyone looking for roof repair or replacement. Before going with Westshore Roofing, I spent two or three weeks interviewing local roofers, it was a frustrating process because most of them seem to be lone rangers and the way they created a quote was so unprofessional and so informal, they first climbed up the roof with a tape measurement for 30 min or so, then started to write on a piece of scratch paper a list of tasks that would be performed for a re-roofing job, at the end, they put a high number but immediately worked down the number with discount like senior, AARP, credit union etc., which reminded me of the old day door to door vacuum cleaner salesman. When I finally reached out for Westshore, it's so refreshing, the rep Terry immediately responded to my phone call, came to my house on Sat morning, walked through the outside of the house, observed the structure, and checked from inside of the garage to see if there were plywood, etc. He didn't even have to climb up the roof to do a measurement, because with today's technology, the size of the roof can be easily and accurately measured and calculated through the satellite and the software, I immediately feel the professionalism, the team work, and the company behind it. This is exactly what I am looking for, I need a company, a corporate entity not an individual that can truly stand behind the job and the warranty, not to mention the well prepared computer generated quote with a clean and clear list of tasks and a very fair price. The whole re-roofing task went smoothly, it's so well managed, and well communicated, I was informed what to prepare and what to expect through email and phone call a few days before the re-roofing task. The whole project took about a week or so to complete. The whole team are polite, courteous, well behaved, and the workmanship are first class, I can wholeheartedly recommend them for any roof jobs. You cannot go wrong with Westshore roofing. period.

On February 19, I filed a lawsuit with their company. Because of my poor English proficiency and my inexperience in courts, the information I prepared was not sufficient, the court ruled my losing the case, but I refused to accept the judgment. It is also shown that they are often lawsuit experts. The more abominable thing is that they tampered with the original contract signed between our two parties when presenting it in the court and they added words to their favor. (If the merchant is not satisfied, the original evidence can be taken out. See if there are any changes), the other sales person even threatened me, saying that the warranty will mess me up in the future, this behavior is too bad, now they said to give me 400 dollars if I take this comment off. I rejected since I want more people know my experience, do not choose this bad business! First and most importantly, this company is very dishonest with much of cheating on charging fees. I recently had my roof work done by this company with a really frustrated and disappointed experience. During my roof replacement project, there are many hidden fees, inflated material costs, and extra unknown labor cost (some with profits as high as five times of normal or market rate). This contractor sets the price of each item without specifying the detailed exact description of each item in the list when presenting the contract to customer for signing, and even worse, the contractor adjusts the prices during the midway of the project and exaggerates multiple service items. And they don’t present evidence after the completion. Terry Zheng, the Chinese speaking manager, purposely setting up service/material cost related traps for someone like me who do not fully understand the US law and English. To my experience this is a shoddy company.

As someone who recently had a new roof installed by Westshore Roofing and is now facing major issues, here are some words of advice before getting a new roof from any installer. 1. Ask the roofers if your house is in condition to undergo the installation. We were never told that installing a new roof might cause damage to our home. I am not talking about items falling out of cabinets, but damages to rafters and trusses which are serious. The roofer inspected our roof prior and never told us that our home wouldn't withstand the process. The contract you sign will protect them from any responsibility. 2. If your home is found unfit to handle a new roof, ask if they can make the appropriate repairs or point you to a company that can. After we discovered the issues to our home, we asked Westshore if we could hire them or someone they knew to make the repairs. They answered no to both. Now we are scrambling to find a company that can. 3. Ask for the worst case scenario when replacing your roof deck. We were told that it might cost a few hundred dollars, but we ended up paying over $1500. We now know deck repair alone can cost several thousand dollars. Some of you are probably shaking your head, thinking we should have done more research and you are right. That is why we are making this post to keep others from experiencing what we are going through. Positives: the contractors who did the work were really friendly and seemed like good people.

Hell ya! Highly recommend this company. Anytime one has to make a decision about such a large investment, there is a lot to stress about regarding money, materials, the process, logistics etc. Not with Westshore. They are not only very knowledgeable, but the level of professionalism and pride is something that you will not get with all companies. And they make the process very easy by taking the time to show options and walking you through the steps. I actually felt way more at ease, and learned quite a bit by working with Daniel and talking with the installers. No high pressure sales people pitches either. Their reputation is all they need. They were on time and very prompt, arriving by 7am... from the first consultation until the very last day. Honestly, they made the process super easy. The roof looks better than I could have imagined. They were also very competitive when it came to pricing, but the biggest thing of all is that they do not cut corners. The workmanship is incredible. I appreciate that they use high quality materials and have lots of samples to choose from. Without a doubt I would recommend them. They also took care around the property, cleaning up after each day. They even blew the dust out my garage! The roofers were solid guys who took care of my house when I was at work. If ya need a good roof and want something that will look good and last many, many years, go with Westshore!

By far the best experience with my entire home remodel. During a whole house remodel, we came across an issue with the existing roof over the garage. The roof was not properly supported when the house was built in 1957 and was sagging and causing the kitchen wall to be pulled out of alignment. Before the remodel could continue the old roof had to be pulled off to illuminate the extra weight in order for the garage roof to be jacked up and put back into place. Because of the time constraints of the job, this needed to be done in a very timely manner as it was in the middle of winter. I reached out to Westshore roofing and they were so responsive, they came out the next day and gave me a bid. The following day ripped off all of the old roofing, so that the repairs could be done to the joists. Once the repairs were done they were very flexible with our schedule at coming back to finish putting on the new roof, they finished literally one day before a huge storm. They were extremely professional and honest with the work that needed to be done. Great people, great service at a great price. I would (and have) highly recommend Westshore Roofing for all roofing needs. P.S. they even came back to add a new gutter to the new addition, well after they had completed the roof.

Update 6/17/2021): It's now 3 months later and this week is really hot. My Tilcor steel roof (without heatshield foil) is much cooler that the concrete tiles. My house is 4-5 degrees cooler than previous hot days like this (3:00pm and 97 Milpitas (104 on back patio) and it's 78 downstairs. Temperature downstairs is usually 82 at least by this time of day. (No AC used yet). More than 5 stars now! Westshore just completed installation of a new roof (Tilcor / Antica / Steel) on my house, and also added a gutter/downspout. Everyone that I talked with were very professional and helpful. I am really satisfied with this work. Pricing was great and a nice savings over one other quote. Ben communicated quickly and was very knowledgeable about the details on this product install. The install team led by Mario were great workers, and this seemed like a complicated install, so extra kudos to the team! The city inspection was no problem. Thanks Paul for creating a good quality company; I will definitely recommend Westshore to anyone in need of roofing or new gutters.

I had a wonderful experience using Westshore Roofing, Inc. for a complete roof and gutter installation project for my home. This was my first time taking on a re-roofing project and the entire team from Westshore made the process enjoyable and easy. Steve Pustelnik was very knowledgeable, professional, hands on, and most importantly honest. He took the time to explain all aspects of the reroofing process to me in detail and answered all my questions, which I truly appreciated. Steve made sure to check in with me throughout the project and kept me informed of where we were and how things were proceeding. Re-roofing your home is a major project with a large price tag, so you want to be confident the people you’ve chosen to do the job are professional, dependable, and competent. We chose Westshore Roofing as our contractor, and we were not disappointed. They offered a range of solutions and explained the pros and cons of each option. They provided a reasonable estimate and stuck to it. Their workers were prompt, careful, and cleaned up the work site every day before leaving. The final result is a beautiful roof that increases the curb appeal of our home significantly. Westshore was always responsive to our questions during the project. Our sole complaint is extremely minor – it would have been preferable for Westshore to be more proactive in informing us of what to expect during the schedule; they were always responsive when we called them, but it would have been better if they contacted us instead of the other way around. Overall, I recommend Westshore Roofing highly.

We are thrilled with our roof that the professionals at Westshore just installed on our pavilion. They gave us exactly the products we wanted and didn't try to talk us into whatever they wanted to sell. We have Boral Steel Shakes that match our existing house roof. They even fixed the trim damage done by another contractor without any problem. Amazingly, they were done in three days when we figured the entire week would be needed. Our site has challenging access issues and the crew managed to work around all the obstacles without complaint or issue. Thanks to the very professional crew that Mario and Angel worked with they worked the safely , on time, cleaned up every day and were friendly and courteous to work with. Ben gave us excellent service from the original quote months ago (delayed by endless Covid shutdown)including the changes we requested right through to close out and warranty. We highly recommend Westshore.

I engaged with Westshore roofing to install a metal roof to a newly added room in my home and also connect with the existing metal roof. From the point they provided the quote, and gave an estimated time, they were very professional in scheduling the different aspects of the job and executing those jobs. They were very responsive through the process, as i called them up with queries and asked for updates whether it was material arrival or clean up following the completion of the job. Only one hiccup was the fact that the amount of roofing material initially ordered by them was slightly short, but they quickly took action to order and make up for the shortfall with expedited processing. They completed the job on time with no surprises. The job was also done with high quality and professionalism, as the new roof melded nicely with the existing 20+ year old metal roof.

Initially I was very pleased with how my new roof turned out. It looked nice with high quality material and was completed in a timely manner (August 2019). HOWEVER, when it came to the final inspection, the first time it failed (9/10/19), I chalked it up to a picky inspector. The second time it failed (12/23/19), I hoped it was due to poor communication or understanding what the inspector wanted. Now that the final inspection has failed for the third time (2/7/20) and the inspector wrote in part "...as noted on inspection notices dated 9/10/19 and 12/23/19..." , (NOTE: this has been three different inspectors) I am now thinking that the roofer is not paying attention to the inspectors request or simply not understanding the cities requirements. I now wonder what other inadequacies the roofer may have that I am not aware of

I have other two quotes with lower estimates but I finally chose Westshore Roofing since Ben came to us with very professional inspection,best presentation with catalog of beautiful shingles and gutters. He explained very technically detailed in every choice I pick with pros and cons. Unlike other offers with only a couple pages without knowing detailed techical, costs for comparisons. I am glad to pick Westshore Roofing. Our new roof looks great with Chateau Green Shingles and beautiful marine green gutter. It all started with a visible rot wood. Terry helped us to inspect the whole house and found more places with rot woods, leaking gutter and broken side roof. We have zero experience on roofing, Terry explained every detail about what we can do and what are all the options we have with their associated price. The work was done within a week with pretty smooth process. They also helped us to fix few places which was not able to be seen before the old roof was taken out. It was a pleasant experience and felt like a very solid outcome (The actual verdict should come out in 30 years). Up to this point, we are very satisfy with their work and how thing was handled.

Had all my gutters and downspouts replaced for my 2-Story house. Sven, Edgar and Carlos were very knowledgeable and professional. Not only take advantage of the tax credit. But with zero down and low monthly payment. It can save money right away. I can walk on the roof without worrying about damaging the timberline solar roof. This last summer I had a new roof put on my house by Westshore Roofing. As a former building contractor and a building inspector for over 30 years, I know a thing or two about roofs and I can tell you that Westshore does an excellent job. Their crew was very knowledgeable, fast, efficient, hard working and courteous. Any concerns I had were promptly addressed. I was very happy with their work and glad I choose them.

I put two stars because the project started out good. Due to failed inspection and how long it took to finish, garage roof shingles not matching my house roof shingles and how many times they came back to do two drains on my flat roof I would definitely not recommend them. Project took too long and was never completed. I ended up paying in full and will paint the roof caps myself.
