$80 charge for jumstarting a car! Communication & appointment: I understand, text messages can be overwhelming, particularly if they are coming from several different customers with different issues. I called your number and explained to you that my car would not start. You asked me to provide; made, model, year and any relevant info. I sent you the information in addition to taking a photo of the dashboard. You said you could look at it the next day (Saturday) at 3 pm. I t was raining on that day but you did not know if the car was in a garage or outside I asked you if you were coming. You instead said: “I don’t work in the rain”. However, courtesy would want you at least to send the customer a text stating the reason. Furthermore, you said you would be able to come the next day (Sunday) and I asked you what time and you did not tell me until I asked you again around 3 o’clock. You, then said you could come if I were available (I was not but I had to stop what I was doing) because I did not know when exactly you planned to come. In addition, you suggested that I get the car to any shop to have scanned and send you the code. That was the very reason I took the time to search for a mobile mechanic so as not to have to tow the car. Labor/ diagnosis: You told me you charge $85/h for labor and diagnosis for a minimum of 1 hour and I said that was fine. When you came, you diagnosed the car and found out the battery was the issue in less than 15 minutes. The solution was to replace the battery, which I agreed to. You made a phone call to ask if the shop has a battery, the answer was yes. You called back because you found out the battery was unique and they told you they did not have that type. Only then, did I realize that either you did not seem to be well versed about hybrids or you did not understand my concern from the onset? Because when you jump-started the car and the engine, stopped running you said the battery died again and I had to tell you it is a hybrid, and that the battery takes over when the car is not in motion. Charges: you charged me $80 dollar (because we did not have change for $85) just for jump-starting my car. I think that was not fair at all. Honesty would want that you acknowledge you did not fix the car. It is still where you found it. However, I appreciate that you came!

My wife and I have been here for 4.5 years now and it was time for us to look for a honest mechanic since I was not able to do the repair on our vehicle this time. So I had to looked up quite a few businesses to insure that I find someone/business who is not only honest, but dependable, know what he/she is doing, and do it correctly the first time. As l saw James had very good reviews and was very hopeful that they were real I felt good to give him a try. I have high expectations for these types of things. So when I met James he most definitely delivered. He came on time, professional, knowledgeable, checking every instead of throwing parts on and increasing the bill. He did the repair correctly. Also from taking a lot of stuff apart to do the job especially when some are cheap plastic parts he carefully did it. He maybe mobile but he has the tools that is needed for the repair(s) even being mobile. However, after he was done he didn’t break anything and you couldn’t tell that he did anything besides got my car is working to where it should be. He didn’t only respect my property for the car but the area he was working around cause as I had be in shops not everyone keeps their work are clean but he did. Sorry for the long review but I wanted others that are looking for someone to repair their vehicles I highly recommend him; I know who I will be calling on from now on. I know how nice it is to know someone is good and honest and he charges far less than going to a shop especially if you have a tow it in then they got you since your car is stuck there and if they over charge you they knowing that they you have to have it towed again after charging you a diagnostic charge as well. I’m sure you get my point. So a honest, professional, and fair person who come to you is just a no brainer.

Hired James for check engine light. He diagnosed and changed # 5 ignition coil and spark plug but said prior mechanic broke connector that holds the coil in place and he would have to take off several parts to fix it. After a little over an hour he was done I test drove and it was 20% better but still not fixed. Check engine light off. Paid him and later same day check engine light came back on. I hesitated to call him back because honestly I didn’t think he could fix the issue. But I texted him and told him still doing same thing he said he would comeback and check it but he never did. I took it into Napa for diagnostic/repair. Napa informed the one he changed which was different from all the rest was # 6 ignition coil and informed it was the Coil that was broken and after they replaced it and the spark plug and did not take off parts to get to it as James had informed…it’s running so smooth. Long story short he is good guy but he cost me $140 and was not able to fix the very thing he worked on and ultimately cost me another diagnostic, parts and Labor $297

This is my first time writing a review ever... But it's definitely worth it.My husband and I were in desperate need to get our radiator replaced on our truck. Every name brand mechanic shop was trying to charge us close to 1k to complete the job. We simply did not have the money at the time to get it fixed.. I began searching for other options. At first I was skeptical about reaching out to White Raven Mobile mechanic due to bad experiences with other mechanics in the past.. I'm happy I reached out to this company! I found this mechanic through Google as I am sure we all did. I went through his reviews and I was impressed at what I read. I was needing someone desperately to repair my car. When I called him, he sounded very uninterested in me explaining my problem but he continued the conversation. He told me to text him my name, address, model and make of my car, and brief description of the problem (which I did as soon as we got off the phone). He set an appointment for me between 10 am - 11 am the following morning. Perfect. I woke up early to make sure I wouldn't miss his call in case he changed the time or something. I texted him promptly at 9:30 am. I waited for a reply. Texted again. Again no reply. As it was getting later in the morning I had to make a decision to go with someone else and I was able to get my car repaired within the hour. I was highly disappointed in this mechanic. He never offered up an apology or an explanation. That's not how you get and keep business.

Just called. There was no reason to be that rude to me over the phone. I was completely professional and nice even when people especially owners of business, which is crazy, talk to me in an unkind manner. Learn better customer service skills and how to talk to people. I told him there was something wrong with my license plate and he responded after the rude hey, how may I help you,? with “you need me to come down there just to put a license plate on?” It’s about the tone in your voice and how you say things. Makes people not want to even ask you questions, before hearing my problem with the car and license plate. After explaining my problem, he went on to say I typically don’t come out there for license plate problems because I charge an hour. I told him if it’s a problem, I can call someone else. Guess it was a problem because, “it was an okay and hung up the phone.” Some other company will want my money because I was willing to pay whatever.

I live in VA and my daughter relocated to NC, so needless to say she does not know of any mechanics in NC. Her car broke down yesterday and I was going to get it towed to a shop, but I decided to Google mechanics in Charlotte and there is where I found White Raven. Read the reviews and decided to give him a call. I text him and he responded within 15 minutes, told me he would be able to get to the car within a few hours and told me about the $85/hr fee. He text me back in a few hours and arrived when he said he would. Although it was something minor that was wrong, he saved the day and LOTS of unnecessary money! My daughter was pleased and so was I. I would definitely recommend using him if you are in the Charlotte area! I have saved his information because we will definitely use him for any future car repair needs.

Great mechanic, he really knows his stuff. My car is older (2004) but its driving better than ever before. My CEL has been off since I left his spot and hasnt shown any signs of returning at all. Not only did he fix my car to run better and more powerful than it did before but he taught me a lot about my car that I hadn't previously know (maintenance wise). Other mechanics gave me the run around but James was ready at a convenient time and was by far the most knowledgeable about the issues I was having. James is an absolute life saver! We were super lucky to find him online when we broke down in Charlotte on our way to Ohio with a van full of animals in the summer heat. James was there in 20 minutes, immediately identified the issue, assisted us in retrieving the right parts locally, and fixed our ‘94 Safari with precision skill. James was truly AMAZING!! I had someone else scheduled to this repair but at the last minute they backed out on me. My car has been sitting for a couple days and I needed it running ASAP! I had done some work on my car and decided to do the CV axles on my own thinking the YT videos looked easy enough it can't be that hard, boy was I wrong lol. James came and saved the dang day. He even noticed a transmission fluid leak outta nowhere cause turns out the CV axle I thought I had successfully installed was missing a critical clamp and so I had to return the part but he hadn't caught that I would've been screwed. I’ve been in the market for a new car recently, and I have called many mechanics that are rude and not willing to answer my question just because I’m not paying them anything. I called white raven today and asked him about the car I was looking at, and we talked for 57 minutes and he answered all of my questions. He was very nice and gave me honest advice on what to do and what he has seen in his experience. Not many mechanics are as honest and caring as him. He didn’t care that I wasn’t going to pay him, he just helped me out.

James was incredible. Not only did he save me a small fortune, he did incredible work and worked within my schedule. He was kind, polite and honest. He gave me tips and expertise for free while not performing unnecessary services. He let me buy the parts from a store and did not upcharge on that and when some work wasn't needed, he simply cut the cost off the original quote. We talked to the mechanic (James) on Saturday, arranged a time and date for a repair for a 2001 Chevy Suburban that needed a transfer case. He was here on Monday, did the required work and after completion and test driving suspected more problems with the vehicle. He tested everything possible and he could not find anything else wrong with the vehicle. He went beyond what we paid for and we very much appreciated it. Great experience having James get my 1974 MG to start again. The car had sat for awhile and needed a new battery a simple fix but took a lot of energy to remove wedged in sub-woofers.
