My daughter is an 8th grader here. I sincerely appreciate the dedication and professionalism of the Principal Mrs. Sadler, the Vice-Principal Mrs. Clay and the Counselor Ms. Kordas. They are strong yet gentle-spirited women who work hard in the best interest of the children. Other CPS schools could use leaders like them. However, I only gave the school 3 stars because everything outside of the issues the principals or the counselor handle personally is extremely unorganized. I have called several times over the past month to get information on the details of the graduation activities and not once have I been given an answer for anything. Each time I call I speak to women who always seem to be angry or having a bad day. Today I called, the woman who answered would not provide her name and told me I need to wait until they figure it out. She said, and I quote "nothing is set in stone yet. When it is, they will send something home. You need to wait until they do." She was rude and dismissive and I did not appreciate it. I sincerely think the school could thrive with more professional support staff. As great as the Principals are, their staff is a reflection of them. The office staff could definitely use a refresher course in professionalism. This is especially true as every visitor and caller will speak to them before contact with anyone else in the school. The office staff is the face of the school and so far, this staff is not wearing a professional face. I'd like to prepare financially and for my time off to attend all of my daughter's events. Waiting until the last minute to provide parents with any information is simply not acceptable. I sincerely hope things are better organized by at least mid April... or my complaint will have to be made elsewhere.
