I used to eat food from Win's all the time as a kid. With so much fond memories of this place, I had to come eat here again. The roast duck from here was just ok. The skin was cooked well and had that distinctive light crisp to it. The meat could've been seasoned a bit better, but it still had a decent flavor. There's a sweetness to it that kind of distracts the typical five spice flavor. It's good enough for Outer Sunset locals, but I think Cheung Hing and Ming Kee are still the reigning champs when it comes to roast duck. I did enjoy the noodle soups here. By Hong Kong standards, this place wouldn't be anything special, but it stands out among other Cantonese noodle soup places in the Bay Area. One of the biggest fumbles of wonton noodle soup around here is that the broth is pretty much just watery chicken broth. The broth at Win's wasn't as pungent or aromatic as I'd like it to be, but it did have hints of the dried seafood flavor that added an umami character. The noodles had a good bite to them, and the wontons were seasoned well. They had a good ratio of shrimp, and the seasoning and spices imparted a slight warm fuzzy feeling on my tongue. That's a good sign. I've definitely had better wonton noodle soup, but with its cheap price and decent flavor here, I can see myself coming back for a quick fix. It's better and closer than any place in Chinatown. Next time, I have to order the Ngau Jaap (Honeycomb Tripe Stew). This place made me fall in love with tripe as a toddler, and I'd really like to see if they can make it just as good as I remember.

Win's Restaurant is one of my top finds since I've really started exploring food in SF. It's got the mom and pop shop vibe and serves simple yet delicious tasting dishes for amazingly affordable prices. Whenever I come with my friends the big seller is always a nice warm bowl of wonton noodle soup- for less than $4!! Great broth, nice portion of noodles, and freshly made wontons; what a great buy! But wait, you can turn it up a notch- get the wonton noodle soup with a roasted duck combination (get the duck on the side) and it brings the total up to ~$6.80. After a work out or a run around lake merced, this dish is a well earned choice. I've been to Win's about 6 times in the past 6 months and have had excellent service with the staff. They mainly speak in cantonese, but coming from someone who doesn't (me), I can vouch that ordering and speaking to them in english doesn't hinder the experience or meal. Must try dishes that really hit the spot: -Wonton noodle soup with Big Dumplings or roasted duck (both are my faves) -BBQ pork braised noodles -Pork spareribs over rice And with Fall and Winter coming, I will be back very soon for a delicious and well portioned bowl of noodles, wontons and duck!

No frills San Francisco Sunset classic. Has been in the neighborhood for decades, my uncle would come here after middle school in the 70s and has gone ever since. Due to Covid, indoor seating is closed and everything is take out. My go to is the 2-3 item rice plate combo with roast pork (pork with the crispy skin), cha siu, and roast duck. comes with rice and some steam cabbage. Comes out to around $10-$15 depending how many items you want. The beach is a few blocks away so after you get your to go plate… walk over to the beach and eat. Nostalgic and delicious. There are many other spots in the sunset that have better cha siu though.

This was the skimpiest combination fried rice we have ever purchased. The rice barely had any pork or shrimp protein, with hardly any green onion as well. The flavor wss decent, but some of our rice felt undercooked and very firm. We ordered inside for takeout, and it was dead silent inside with a few other patrons. It also took 3 people to take our order, and at first they attempted to give us the someone else’s order. In the front, there is a chef who is handling and preparing food, but it did not seem to sanitary with them picking a pen, writing some notes, then touching food without washing their hands. Will not return.

Taste was REALLY good! If it was closer to my home, I would go there a few times a week! (So maybe that's a good thing, it's not so close). Not expensive but not cheap either. No long waiting times, friendly lady. For sure go there again! Little bit weird she had no chicken meals because she ran out of chicken (??). Very tasty BBQ pork and BBQ duck.

Recommend you avoid these two disappointing dishes I had today. The tomato beef chow mein was in a light tomato juice (not a sauce) with as much onions as beef. I few tomato pieces. It lacked savoriness and flavor. The black bean sauce chow fun (wet) had barely any sauce. The fun was broken up and clumped/stuck together from being overcooked (if not old). Their bbq stuff is very good. We also had the pan fried chicken bok choy chow mein. That was okay.

This is a decent place to get greasy BBQ pork and roast duck and pork. Other items are hit or miss. Their friend rice is pretty bland and their chow mein noodles are dry. If you stick with BBQ items you'll be safe. This place use to be a lot better but the change of ownership years ago changed the kitchen in the back big time. Years ago this place would make 4-5 stars based on the food alone and not the service. This place used to be packed with a line going out the door.

This was a 'hole in the wall' sort of restaurant with complementary low (affordable for SF) prices. I understand that the restaurant has been sold now. No joking. Their old simple menu has been replaced with a glossy blue one. Not only that has changed but the prices have increased substantially. I get that establishments are trying to get by in SF these days, but jacking up prices per item by $4-$5 is just greedy.

I've eaten here once, service is standard for a Chinese restaurant. I got the Peeking Duck, which was really just roast duck with steamed buns. It's misses the fact that Peeking Duck has a crispy skin. I get the roast duck once every few months to go. There's a minimum for credit card purchases. So a roast duck costs $18 and they require that to be paid by cash or I'm told to add another item.

Beware the restaurant, very dishonest owner and cheated the customers. I ordered 1 whole roast duck ( chopped) and 2 lbs Roast Pork to go, Total of $70. When I get home opened the box. Half of the roast duck chest are missing. He replaced with extract duck neck underneath. He charged me 2 1/2 lbs for the roast pork. It is way less than 2 1/2 lbs. Very dishonest people.

I ordered the Wins Special Chow Mein and the Kung Pao chicken. Both dishes cost $10.95 and both hardly had any meat to them. The Kung Pao was a sloppy mess of overcooked vegetables and small little pieces of chicken with some nuts thrown on top. The Chow Mein was all noodle with one medium sized piece of chicken and one prawn. What a waste of $24! Was expecting a little more from this place.

I ordered a roasted goose , a tea chicken and ducks for my boy’s gathering - have to say the chicken is one of the best free ranch chicken. The goose is on the pricey side but you have to appreciate the quality of the fresh goose cs. Frozen goose.

Solid Chinese restaurant. The General's chicken was quite good, the Chow Fun with beef was good as well. The BBQ pork and tofu was mixed - we enjoyed the tofu, but the flavor of the pork was a bit off. Nice service. Dining room is plain, but has a fish tank, and a TV that they turned on towards the end of our meal. Health score 88.

Local chinese restaurant, low on decor and ambience, but tries to make up for that in pricing and food. A place for duck.

I don’t normally do yelp reviews....this might even be my first one. They advertise one price, but when I tried to order they gave me a price that was DOUBLE what was advertised. The lady I spoke with, said they haven’t updated the menu in 10 YEARS. How? Just that’s all I’m going to say.

This is my new local go to as they are close. The staff barely speaks English so make your order clear to them. Overall they have good portions for a fair price considering today's resturants. Take out only for now.

Par. Didn't have the BBQ items, only stir fry. Greasy, lacked flavor and 'wok-breath'. Would only go back to try BBQ which looked decent but reviews suggest they aren't any better. Staff was friendly and courteous.

Big Dumplings and Noodle Soup was very good and had a lot of flavor. Deep fried Tofu was also delicious, one of my favorite dishes! Glad to see business was quite busy during the lunchtime rush!

Super hole in the wall, tucked away, little known gem in the city for Chinese BBQ (duck, chashu, roast pork). I did to-go but would be so game to sit down and eat next time.

The best Won Ton soup in town for years. Their Char Siu and Soya Chicken are excellent as well. It's OK to double park in front; everybody else does.

Good tasting and fresh! The string bean chicken tasted like Turkey meat though. It was good! Veggies were fresh and crunchy just like I like :-)

$13 is a bit steep for an order of chow mein, but there was a lot and it was tasty. I think I'm just too used to the prices from my childhood.

The best place to get duck, imo. Little fat and very delicious. The food also has very good flavor. Very reasonable prices and portions.

They only give you one roast duck drumstick with meat. The other roast duck pieces have no meat at all. Complete Jipped.

My family has been going here for 3 generations. Wonton soup is a great on those cold SF days, it's a tummy warmer.

Pork belly clay pot with fermented vegetables was amazing. The glazed meat in the window looks delicious.

Ordered the wonton and duck noodles soup. Noodles were tough, wonton tasted unfresh and duck was so-so.

Great tasty wonton soup. If you like duck, try it here. You'll love it. Unassuming and inexpensive.
