"So far all good, welcoming place, staff are kind and took their time to explain everything I needed to know and any query was attended professionally and kind"
"Lovely library, however it is full of students during term time"
I first visited the library yesterday and it was amazing! Chris and the other woman at the reception have been more than helpful. It was warm, really good internet connection and quiet. However, today Saturday I visited it again and it was so noisy from families with children literally screaming. I closed the door, which was fine. After 1 hour a member of the staff (a man) who wasn't here before opened it and when I said we would like it to be closed so that it can be quiet he just said no it's not a private space. That was very rude, and I am sure he was just bored to open the dour with his card. I think the library belongs to anyone but most of the people go there to study, work and need a quite place. I don't think closing a door harms anyone, especially when people talk loudly or children are screaming. Also, please when you visit wit your children respect the other people reading or studying. It's not a playground.
I love this library for a number of reasons - the staff they are always, always helpful and kind. There is usually parking nearby on the weekend and there is a calmness within the library Also - I always feel safe and a calmness when I enter this library - it brings me peace on a rainy, dark day and there no judgement. It is an inclusive space where people can quietly get on with reading, listening, browsing books, newspapers and magazines . A place where you can stop and just take some time out and be part of an unspoken supportive community. Many a days I have felt I have been carrying a cloud and when I enter the library it’s gone and I am in a place where we are all equal. It doesn’t matter what we are wearing, look like, it feels like an utopia where you can take a moment or two and just stop for a while.
Friendly staff but one of the noisiest libraries I have ever been to (if you're going to carry out loud building works, don't pick a busy time for it). Also, not enough study areas/desks; if you're working from a laptop, good luck securing one of the five or six round tables to work at. They have a larger quiet space but this can sometimes be booked out for hours at a time, which is ridiculous given the lack of other options. The adjacent room seems to be regularly given over to coffee functions or even party functions (which naturally means screaming children). And why is it not staffed for the whole day Thursday?
So far all good, welcoming place, staff are kind and took their time to explain everything I needed to know and any query was attended professionally and kind. There's a toilet inside and computers free to use. If you register with them you can use the library when there's no staff 8h till 20h, Friday till 17h, Sunday closed.
Lovely library, however it is full of students during term time. This is unfair & unacceptable as students have their own multi-million pound university campus facilities to use for study. Locals end up having to compromise on lack of space and facilities. The staff & council should address this.
I was just sat in here doing some uni work, when the lady working here explained to me that its coffee morning and brought me a free cup of tea, which i can confirm was banging and just what i needed. Great library great for the community :)
Cute library, im sure it offers a lot to the community, not ideal for intense studying though, weekends at least. A lot of people in and out, no isolation/quiet zone or noise monitoring. Toilet and coffee machine out of order when i visited
Very nice and helpful staff, but twice I went there to study, and visitors were eating curry, the smell was horrendous. The place needed a good clean far too noisy. Overall it's going downhill, and it's a shame.
I'm outside the library now and the Openplus machine says "The library is closed"!! Well done guys!! Thank you for the misleading info which made me get out of bed an hour earlier on my day off!!
I tried to make a library card here as I have lost mine. They said that I couldn't and that I needed an ID. Went to didsbury library and they let me make a card with no ID necessary
Small library, has internet access for free, tables and chairs with plug sockets and children's section. Have to ask for a key to use the toilets. Sometimes can be a little chilly.
Wonderful library and staffs, but I need to do a big shout-out to Sue and the Story telling for children's, she's very good and the children's love it so much!!!
No where online does it say you can only access this with a special pass. The opening hours are completely wrong. The council screw us over again.
Just had a make over. Quiet room area. Lots of pc 's. Members can access the library when it is not staffed using library card and pin number.
Very nice experience with our baby in their group in Wednesdays. Thanks very much to the lady, very dedicated and lovely. We will come back:)
Absaloutley awful library, full of kids screaming. Was hoping to finish my research assignment and take some time out to read a book.
Love our local library. So pleased We have this in Withington. Can't wait for it to re-open after the refurbishment in Summer 2018.
It’s usually too busy to sit and read because of students using it to study. Also there aren’t a very wide selection of books.
More than impressed, always a very good welcome from the librarians, now a well being hub once a month.
It's a good local alternative to the central Manchester library. You can print here
Looks great after the refurbishment. Comfy chairs, relaxed atmosphere. Nice place.
