My father and I happened upon the WonTon House 3 years ago, however I still cannot forget the horrible experience we had here. The restaurant is owned by a couple and they were extremely unprofessional and appear to be very prejudiced against Mandarin speaking people. When we arrived at the restaurant, my father spoke to them in Mandarin because from our experience, Chinese restaurant staff can typically speak both Mandarin and Cantonese. The owners told us they didn’t speak Mandarin, so we conversed in English - ok no biggie and sorry for the assumption. However, their attitude towards us turned a complete 180. The lady owner glared at us then literally turned around and ignored us the rest of the time we were there. Every few minutes, she would proceeded to turn around and glare at my father and I while we sat in the dining room. My father asked the male owner for some recommendations, but the male owner responded with a snarky and impatient attitude, like he didn’t want us there. My father and I felt so unwelcomed and uncomfortable that we had no choice but to just leave. We felt so disrespected by the owners of the WonTon House, this kind of treatment was completely unjustified and inexcusable. The owners were so rude and unprofessional, I literally have not experienced such disgusting service anywhere else and for such a trivial reason. I can’t speak for the food there, but it looked like generic Americanized Chinese food anyways ... Two huge thumbs down for the WonTon House. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
All I can say is "Wow". I found this place by accident and it's my New favourite food place. Look...i've literally had won ton soup in at least 15+ restaurants in Ottawa and this place is the bomb. Its soooooo good. Egg rolls are fantastic along with everything else too that I had. This is a great place to pick up a quick take out snack, or to sit in, and seems to be a nice semi casual atmosphere. They offer regular seating of course, along with a couple private closed off rooms for a larger party of guests for supper which will sit up to a dozen with a big circular table and huge lazy Susan in the middle for easy food access...pretty friggin convenient, and cool. I definitely recommend.
Decided to get take-out from this restaurant since I was in the area and it had great Google reviews. NEVER AGAIN! Having been to many Chinese restaurants in the past, I always appreciate the quantity of food one can buy per dollar spent. For the $14 Vegetarian Delight, I expected to get enough food to last for two or more meals. What I got was a very small soup bowl half full of vegetables and half full of a tasteless watery sauce. No rice, and no fortune cookies, which are two things that are usually included with any great Chinese meal. Overall I'm quite disappointed with this restaurant and would not recommend it to anyone- especially anyone who is on a budget. :(
Came here for lunch and got the crispy beef lunch special, with fried noodles. The egg roll was pretty average, not bad, but nothing special. The noodles were likewise okay. The crispy beef had a good texture, but the flavour of the sauce was very bland. No sweetness, no aromatics, it just kind of tasted like soy sauce thickened with corn starch. A friend ordered their peanut butter dumplings, and it tasted like peanut butter and jam mixed together and drizzled over standard pork dumplings. It wasn't very good, and the server asked if it was too sweet, and then said "the kids like it this way more". Overall, fairly disappointing, definitely won't be back.
The food was good, but way too expensive. I had the large shanghai noodle, which is smaller then the regular full order at so good and other places, yet costs 40% more. The soo guy chicken was very good, but the regular portion is actually a half order, but again about 50% more expensive. My order was about $50 after tax, for about the same quantity of food I get at competing restaurants for about $25.

I have been a customer of Won Ton House for over 20 years. I always find the food there tasty, the price reasonable, and the service friendly. Sure one can go to a big, fancy Chinese restaurant downtown that offers hundreds of selections on the menu and copious amount of pre-prepared food. But there is something to be said about a family restaurant that knows what the customers want, cooks up good food, and is part of the Wellington West neighbourhood.
Fantastic! Service is always top notch, and I’ve enjoyed every single dish I’ve ever tried here. I’ve brought friends and family, had date nights, and ordered multiple take out meals. Everything was always accurate, timely, and tasted excellent. I especially appreciate the portion size selection on the menu, so if you’re only two people but want to try a few dishes, it’s great to have that smaller size option available. Great local business!
Good Canadianized Chinese food. Vicki was friendly and chatty while I waited for my takeout order.

This might not just be the best Chinese restaurant in Hintonburg, but it is one of the best in Ottawa! The fried pork has lots of meat, not just thick layer of batter. The scallops were HUGE! The fried noodle dish was very savoury, but could be a bit saucier. The waitress was very nice and friendly!

Food is good, prices seemed a little high for the amount of food. Keep in mind that this is not a typical "Canadian Chinese food" place - meaning the food is not as greasy and 'processed' as some other places. I ordered the ginger beef expecting deep fried beef in a ginger sauce, and instead I got strips of beef in a Soy/Hoisin based sauce with pieces of candied ginger. Still good - just not what I was expecting.
Their fried rice is good but lately the serving sizes have been on the short side...with all of their dishes. The breaded shrimp @ $15+ was mostly breading and very tiny shrimp. Probably going to look for another place to order from as their customer service wasn't great when I called to report a missing dish. I expect a whole lot more when I pay $80. plus for a meal. Everyone was disappointed !
I stopped here by accident, I was looking for something else (thank the lord) and I saw Won Ton house and I absolutely LOVE won ton soup. I stopped in and bought a large Won Ton soup to go and I instantly fell in love. This place has to be the absolute VERY BEST place if you are a won ton soup lover. Ever since I found this place, I've been there at least twice a week. Strongly recommend
Appearance, freshness, aroma, and taste. One restaurant that is a fine dining experience. Tasteful decor but not over the top. Friendly service. Sadly, the washrooms are downstairs which is a problem for people with mobility issues. The Won Ton House does deliver to nearby homes and you may opt to take out.

Great service, very legitimate Asian food. Fair pricing. Had moo shoo pork, chicken liver and hot sour soup. This place tastes like one of the og Hong Kong diners. Server was really kind and went out of her way to make conversation. Just a great overall dining experience.

Owned by a couple that will serve you, this place is quite affordable and the real gems are hidden in the dinner menu, not the lunch menu. You can ask for the dinner menu at lunch. Food is generally spicier than most "American" Chinese restaurants. Big place, lots of seating and separated rooms keeps volume level lower than most
Won Ton House is very nice on every level. Food is very good and priced fairly. The dining room is nice and tidy, not noisy and crowded. Overall, it's a very good dining experience, and since they were so kind and accommodating to my little family, I'm happy to give them five stars. If you like Chinese food, give them a try.
My wife needed to use the restroom. She has a medical issue since childbirth. The place was open but empty. She pooped in and politely asked to use the restroom and the hostess’ response was “No, Sorry”. Very disappointing. Westboro is know to be more welcoming and friendly. This was on Sept 5, 2023

Great local place that offers up eat in or take out Chinese food of the usual variety plus a few unique menu choices that pop up. Can accommodate large parties for eat in and have fast take out service. As someone who has Celiac disease I have not had any issues with what I have ordered form here.
Unfortunately, after years of ordering from Wonton house we were very unimpressed with the food ordered last night. The Shanghai noodle had a very unpleasant, funky taste, not at all Smokey. The chicken with mixed veg in satay sauce had no peanut flavour what-so-ever.

It's okay. The prices were higher than I would get from somewhere in Chinatown, smaller portions and the food is not quite as good. The service was okay but a pretty long wait, and the chairs were uncomfortable. Definitely won't be going again, there are so many better options in Chinatown.
I was there with a group of friends in a private room. Everything was very good but not exceptional. However, I must admit, the food was much better than in small/takeout places in the city that I had experience with.

Surprised by the small portion size of the “large” Cantonese chow mein. Very under filled container. Way greasy noodles and not enough. Noodles are a nearly free ingredient. Why short change your client on noodles? Very disappointed and will not try other food from here.
The food was amazing and the service was just perfect ! They take there time to explain their menu ! I asked around 100 questions and she answered me with a nice smile! The only one thing I didn't like is the smell!!!! You really feel like you are cooking with them!
Delicious food, fresh ingredients, friendly service.

A lovely and quiet atmosphere as well as quick and friendly service are what make the Won Ton House an excellent place to eat, without even mentioning their delicious cuisine.

Had the beef in black bean sauce for lunch & it was excellent. Friends had the General Tau chicken & that got rave reviews too. Spring rolls may just be the best I have tasted. Service with a smile & well priced cocktails .. we will be back.
Lousy food, lousy environment, lousy employees. Have recently went there with the family for a birthday and someone whom works there was a rude chin* towards a family member. I would drop dead before recommending anyone to go and eat there.
This food puts slapdash Chinatown fare to shame! This is REAL and prepared with panache distinction and deep pleasures. The clientele is built-in and always pleased and excited with the food! Come see why this restaurant is superb!
I was with a group of about 25 and we were well looked after. They have a good lunch menu reasonably priced and a didn't hear any complaints. The washrooms are downstairs and if you are paying with a card you pay at the counter.
Love this little gem! The food is amazing, portions abundant and excellent service! My only complaint was that it was cold inside! No fault of the owners for the external weather, but a little heat would have been appreciated!
A favourite for a very long time - I ate in the original location before a fire destroyed it. They have the best Hot & Sour Soup I have ever tasted, so don't miss that when you go. But many very tasty items on the menu.
Their Singapore noodle and beef with black bean source are so delicious when ordered with steam rice. Better than any Chinese restaurant I have tried in different cities.

Really great place, been going here since I was a kid. Lots of variety and ive enjoyed almost everything ive tried over the last 15 years. Owners are also always in the store and provide great service.
Unfortunately small food protions. Ordered the dinner for 6 and a 4 other plates and we found ourselves having to take quite small portions to get enough for everyone. We were 6 and 2 small children.
Service was good. But the food was not exactly authentic. A lot of white folks in the restaurant which tells you who the food is more geared towards. Also a tad pricey. Overall it was just okay.
Wonderful service and great food! We love the kind staff. We have lots of favourites but you have to try the peanut butter dumplings!

We were in a rush to hit the sens' game and the staff were super accommodating. An especially great venue as a group if you share you plates. You'll enjoy the diversity!!
Best won ton soup in the City! Always good food, and great service from Vicki and Tom the owners. . Had the Fu King Fried Rice and Aromatic Calamari both were excellent!
We had a lovely dinner - the setting is very peaceful and cozy, and staff are sweet and welcoming. The portions are generous and fresh. We can’t wait to return.
Probably the best Chinese food I've had. The woman who served us, I think she might've been the owner, she was wonderful, and the service was exceptional.
Small portions for combination plates . Found the rice plain tasting . Egg rolls were good . Quick delivery and food was hot .

Had the aromatic spare ribs and really disliked it. My jaw was tired by the time I ate half the food and just didnt want to finish the food.
Always go for a combination plate with two egg rolls, haven't been disappointed yet! Very polite owners, have and will be returning again!
Really enjoyed a nice meal here. Food was fresh and staff was great. Will drop in here again in the future to try more of their menu.
With a delightful menu and very attentive service, the Won Ton consistently meets and often exceeds our high dining expectations.
Delicious hot and fresh! It's like coming to eat with family. Vivian always greets us by name. The hot & sour soup is the best.
Long-time family favourite in the Capital. Reliable, and friendly staff. Did I mention egg-rolls people travel miles for?
One of the best restaurants in ottawa. Fast takeout and delicious food. The lady owner is very nice and polite person.
Being going to the Wonton for over 25 years and never have been disappointed.Village style ginger beef is my favorite.
Sadly, the Won Ton House has permanently closed as of Dec 16.

I love Vicky and Tom - they cook great fresh food and provide quirky and personal service - Classic Chinese food!
Great food and service. We were a lunchtime group of 8 and there were no issues. Everyone of is was pleased.
Called three times from 6-6:30 on a Sunday night, nobody picked up. Voice message says open 4-11pm. Fail.
Was here for a large family event and the staff were very courteous and friendly, and the food was great!
Great place where everybody knows you name. This chef knows what he's doing. Best Chinese in Ottawa.
Excellent as usual. Wide variety of Asian cuisine. So much choice I tend to order to much... …
The best in Ottawa. I've been to many in Chinatown and around Ottawa but this was just fantastic.
Best service in the NCR and amazing food, too!

Best chicken fried rice I have ever had. I’d honestly walk miles through snow for that stuff
The spicy pork, vegetables in sate sauce, and fried rice were delicious. Service was awesome
Tasty Chinese food, staff is very friendly. I have only had take out and have no complaints
The Peking Duck is amazing, as is the service. Definitely worth the visit. We will go back.
Fantastic service, very accommodating to kids. Food was quick and exactly what we wanted.

Staff super friendly. Food EXCELLENT. The establishment is very well maintained.
Delicious food! The green tofu curry was outstanding as was the very spicy soup.
Outstanding food, upscale decor, Manhattan ambiance...we love you madly! …
Family has been going there 20 plus years. Treated like family. Food is great.
The place was empty so service was great, but the food and price were average
We enjoyed a wonderful meal and amazingly professional and friendly service.
Canadian Chinese food but quite tasty. Very nice separate room for big group
Still my favourite chinese restaurant (since 1975 in it's previous location)
Tastes awful... cant even make a proper beef noodle soup as a chinese place
One of my favourites. Warm atmosphere and consistently tummy pleasing food.
Very dirty kitchen area cook was seen smoking and spitting out back for..
Food was OK, nothing fantastic, cheaply made. Very cold in dining room.
Viki is the best! Thank you for a nice dinner! And your sense of humor!
Awful service, food tasted re heated, owner was extremely rude!!!
Top quality food - fine folks running it. A neighborhood gem
One of Ottawa's best restaurant! Great food and service.
50 minute wait for a combo plate? Thanks for nothing!!!
Always great food and lovely service!! Nice ambience!!
Great service! Always come here for new years eve :)
Amazing food and incredible staff, highly recommend
Disappointed... Small portion sizes for takeout.
Superb food! Decent portions and friendly staff
Meh... Generic Chinese food that was only OK.
My go to place for Chinese food! Love it!
