Where to begin? The positives: The selection of sausages and beers is pretty good, some classics, some exotics, and the outdoor seating has that classic German look. That's about it I think. If this restaurant - as the name "Wurstküche" strongly implies - is trying to bring German cuisine to Los Angeles, it failed. I now understand why so many people are upset about places like Panda Express and so on. If this is somebody's first impression of German/Belgian food, they'll get the wrong picture. The sausage itself was decent. The bun however was completely wrong; wrong shape, dough, texture. The caramelized onions were more like slightly burned onions and the Sauerkraut was missing its signature tanginess. The Belgian Fries ... I feel so sorry for my neighbors. Belgian Fries are supposed to be light in colour and crispy. These were dark and soggy, but I guess the seasoning was alright. The Curry Ketchup that came with them wasn't horrible but also not ideal. Added to this, the prices are fairly steep in my opinion. A regular bottle of Club Mate for $6? Ouch. It would also be a good idea to let the staff know how to pronounce the name of the restaurant so they don't tell confidently customers who ask the wrong answer. I probably couldn't even pronounce it this badly if I tried. Not blaming the staff of course, they all seemed like friendly people. To me, this feels like the restaurant drew an alright triangle when the assignment was a square. All in all, I'm disappointed.

I just want to clarify that this place is not getting an "OK" rating because the food was not good, the atmosphere was boring, or because the service was bad. It gets three stars because, in my opinion, it's unique menu items lacked a unique taste and presentation. Let's begin with what makes this place awesome and definitely worth your time: Atmosphere - very lively, comfortable yet not so much that the conversations are low key. Expect an almost club-like atmosphere just before the music starts playing and people get up to dance. Service- Excellent! When I went there was a line, but I was met with a staff member who not only handed me a menu, so that I knew what to order as soon as I got to the counter, but also took my order drink which was amazing when I was parched from a day at the beach. Taste- Very good. Had no qualms about any of the flavors. What I found disappointing was that the rattlesnake and rabbit sausage did not have a taste to really distinguish it from other sausages. If the taste is going to be similar, I would have hoped that at least the presentation would make it stand out. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

Came to try out the sausages. Some very unique sausage options on the menu. Went with duck/bacon/jalapeno and rattlesnake/rabbit/jalapeno. I like to try new, different things. As a topping just ordered onions. There is a selection of toppings at the table. There is seating in the back on large bench style seats and some outside seating by the sidewalk. You order at counter after walking in and then given a number and food brought to you. $10-$12.50 per sausage. The buns that the sausage was served on was good, light and just right. The sausages were good, but the rattlesnake/rabbit didn't't taste any different than any other sausage. I really liked the duck/bacon sausage. Different flavor and spice than a regular bratwurst.

Enjoyed lunch here on a Sunday passing through Los Angeles. Service here was kind and attentive, the workers really seem to enjoy working here and serving their patrons. I ordered the Rattlesnake and Rabbit Sausage, just out of curiosity. It was very chewy and meaty, and though I was glad to have given it a chance, I would not have it again. The fries were also a bit salty and greasy... so wasn't too big of a fan of them. Would recommend splitting a small fry order among 2 people given the hefty portion they provide. Despite all this, this restaurant has a lot to offer in terms of variety. Though I did not much care for my selection this time around, I look forward to coming back again and trying something else when I am back in the area. Overall, I liked this place.

They have some really good sausages here. I tried 3 different hot dogs. I rate the top of their list the best (the bratwurst). The second on the list was not good (the bockwurst). Just didn’t taste right. The third I tried was the duck with bacon one (“succulent and packed with flavor” is what is described). That one is tasty and a very good choice. Their fries is decent. You will have the choice of two toppings with the hot dog. I found that the sauerkraut with sweet peppers was generally a great match. They have 6 or more different mustards to choose from but they are usually spreaded out throughout the tables. The food is generally good, very good considering it’s just a hot dog.. But sometimes the line here is insane. I wouldn’t wait more than ten minutes for this. I tried two draft beers from their selection: the Bitburger pilsener and the dark Erdinger. Both were good. Price wise, this place is a bit on the expensive side. Specially when you consider you have to wait in line, pay when you order, and then wait again by a table.

I'm a fan! Stopped here a handful of times after rock climbing in the area. They have Beyond & Field Roast (I believe) sausages for vegan/vegetarian options. I always go for the Beyond, of course. Picking your own toppings for sausages is fun - would like to see more topping options in the future. They have the BEST fries - don't miss out! Great dipping sauce options and so many different mustard options! Amazing. Great beer selection as well, both draft and bottled, with the option to get your draft beer in a stein. I always feel like having a large soft pretzel here, would be a fun menu addition. Plenty of seating inside & out. The line outside usually isn't too bad and moves relatively quick - plus you can enjoy a beer while in line. Parking in the area can be a huge pain depending on time of day, like Saturday evening - there is a paid lot just down the street, bite the bullet instead of driving around trying to find street parking.

Probably my absolutely favorite sausage restaurant in Los Angeles. Food is always very tasty, they never go wrong serving sausages. The selection of sausages is big. Also they have a rich sauce selection. Unfortunately, toppings selections are poor. I wish they added a few more items like cut tomatoes and pickles. Coming back to the positives, they have a really nice soft drink selection. The sodas they sell are very tasty! The prices for food are reasonable, but the prices for sodas are overpriced. Entire restaurant staff is very professional and super friendly. Also I like the atmosphere of the place. A lot of fun people visit this restaurant, the crowd is mostly young. It is always very festive. I absolutely recommend this place for having food.

Nice place that's known for sausages and German beers. They do have mixed drinks available too. I usually go for the exotic sausages and they even have vegan options. Lots of sauces to choose from too. Assorted mustards and regular ketchup is on the table. I suggest their truffle fries as well. You can also get the sausages raw and take them home to cook on your own and its way cheaper (about half off) you do however get a choice of 2 toppings and of course you get to eat them with the drinks or sides served there too. This is a nice spot to see with so many options

Great food, they had vegetarian options which were delicious. We got one of each of their original vegetarian sausages (not the beyond) as well as fries with curry ketchup. There was a long line that went out of the building but the service was excellent. They sent out servers to take drink orders while we stood in line so we could at least drink while waiting, and they brought out free samples as well. It really helped pass the time much more quickly (though the line moved along pretty fast too). I also appreciate that they have a lot of non-alcoholic drink options like fun sodas and even a non-alcoholoc beer. Fun atmosphere as well, would highly recommend!

For super casual adventurous big-group dining, this is the place. The menu is simple: sausages, fries, and an impressive selection of draft and bottled beers. What makes it adventurous is the sausage selections. Choices include rattlesnake & rabbit, pheasant, buffalo, vegetarian, and classic sausages—all served on a bun with a choice of toppings. They have seating both inside and outside in front of the restaurant. Order in the front and take your number to your seat and wait to be served. I can always count on one of their classics with sweet peppers and caramelized onions to be delicious. Parking: Expect to pay for parking in a lot. Carpool if you can. It’s okay if you park a few blocks away. The walk around this neighborhood is fun and you’ll be sure to discover some fun gems.

Service is very odd. One of the guys that helped us order was really kind and helpful but when ordering at the cash register another employee was super cold and displayed her clear distaste with working there. She made us feel like we were bothering her. I remember this exchange from the last time I was in as well. Food is a bit pricey but pretty decent. Lots of beer options which is cool for a place in LA. It's a cool spot with the right idea but I don't know if it is a place I will want to go to again due to uncomfortable customer service experiences. A side note which may vary from customer to customer but my partner and I both feel gross and have stomach aches after eating there as well. Obviously this is case dependent and may just be a weird occurrence. Maybe others will have different experiences.

Limited menu, but very well done; after all the name should give you a clue. Extensive choice of sausages with several vegetarian options. The exotic options were intriguing, but rattlesnake is out of my taste adventure. I liked that you could see the selection in the meat case. I had the mango jalapeno (chicken and turkey) with sauerkraut and grilled onions. It was a bit sweeter than I prefer, but I topped it with the whole mustard which made it just right. The fries were very good. I usually don't dip my fries, but the sauces were just too tempting. A real treat was the selection of non-alcoholic drinks. If you are are looking for Pepsi, or conventional sodas you will be disappointed. My suggestions is expand your horizons and try any one of the selections offered. I live in the Central Valley so the 250 mile round trip only means I won't be there as often as I would like.

  • Jason “Blaster”

At it's core, Wurstküche is a sausage grill, but it's so much more than that. As a non-meat eater, I ordered the 'Vegetarian Mexican Chipotle' that featured chipotle, arbol, chiles, garlic & onion. I loved their innovative sausage combinations, with some of the best vegetarian sausages you'll find! They also had some of the best fries I've had in years, and definitely a must-add to any order. On top of that, they offer a bunch of unique and delicious dipping sauces that made the meal THAT much better. I came with a group of 5 friends and they had a plethora of well-lit outdoor tables that made for a super fun meal. If you're ever in the LA Arts District and craving a quick and fun bite, look no further than Wurstkuche!

4/21/22: Overhyped hot dogs... good to try once or twice but not worth it afterwards. Beers are very good here. Fries are beyond AMAZING. Edit: 6/18/22 I've had the hot dogs again because my friends love coming here for the drinks(German beers). The food was amazing, the gourmet sausages, fries, and all. They love their craft German beers here, they wonder how this place gets their hands on the beers. I have the craft soda from their wide selection. Service is really good. Food comes out relatively quick. Parking is a little hectic. Otherwise this place is awesome.

We found this spot on Google Maps for a dinner spot during our visit to LA. The photos looked delicious, and they were 100% accurate! It was easy to just walk up to the line, order, and sit down to wait. The patio was so cozy, casual, and welcoming. My cousin got the mango jalapeño wurst and fries with a sour. I got the chicken apple sausage, and it was fantastic! The service was quick. Everyone seemed to really love working there. We will definitely be back!

Must stop by and try these awesome hotdogs. It was a little gem in the heart of Art District between 3rd street and Alameda Blvd. in Little Tokyo. The place was very clean and open. You select and choose your favorite sausages and they will bring it out to you. There were long tables and small corners in/ outside the restaurant . It also was kool that you can draw or write your own messages on the table paper and take pictures with it. Workers here were so friendly and professional . We chose the Rattlesnake Rabbit, Hot Italian and duck sausages Hotdogs and fries for lunch. They were very crunchy and tasty delicious. Will be back for sure to try out their other hotdogs...

My girlfriend brought me to this restaurant and I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. + Service, quick and no problems. + Vast menu of both drinks (alcoholic & non alcoholic drinks) and plenty of tasty food options. + The place was lively and had a great atmosphere. + Clean restrooms + Fun place to hang out with friends or to go on a date to. - Parking on the street can be tough to find at times, but this restaurant has no control of that.

What a great place to experience a little bit of Germany. Good selection of German beer, along with tasty sausage hotdogs and even veggie dogs. We can't forget the amazing fries they serve as well. They give you a choice of sauces to go with your fries too. This place is a bit pricey, but we'll worth the wait and price. Staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. If you plan on visiting this place keep in mind the parking situation because it can be a bit difficult to find parking. Remember you can also pay for parking if you wish. Again, great place to visit and enjoy a German beer with a sausage dog.

Some of the best brats ever, and the bun is perfect too. Hot link was good too but I grew up on them so I’m way more picky when it comes to that. I ordered it for delivery and it came hot. They’re also thoughtful about how the food travels because all the condiments came on the side which made the food stay way more fresh. Fries are bomb too! Highly recommend if you’re in the LA area and want something special.

Wow, I had low expectations for this place, but it is legit! The fries are belgian double dipped so they are chunky, super crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside - phenomenal. When i alerted the kitchen that a friend had celiacs, they cooked our bratwursts in foil so that it didn't touch the grill on which buns are also toasted. Our bratwursts were served without the bun and with additional toppings to accommodate my gluten allergic friend. Top notch service and food!!

Once you finally find parking, Wurstküche is a great place to stop for a quick bite and a beer. The beer selection can be intimidating due to the amount of foreign beers, but the bartenders can give you samples of whatever you'd like to try. Great place to eat German hot dogs and drink German or Belgian beer! I ordered the typical bratwurst and shared fries. They were delicious! Especially the fries, they were really thick and fresh. Definitely try the curry ketchup. I hadn’t seen that since I went to Berlin. The atmosphere is also cool, there’s a lot of indoor and outdoor space to sit. And they have a very wide variety of beer. So I would definitely come back!

Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggity dog! Decent priced hot dogs, with loads of flavor! We purchased the lamb, beef, and vegan dogs, with some fries, and dipping sauces of choice (honey mustard, ranch, ketchup). Although the location is prime in the Arts District, you will have some hassle finding parking nearby. If you do park a little further away, your walk after these yummy hot dogs will be much needed! Great gourmet hot dogs. Their menu has limited (hot dog) selection ranges from commonly classic style all to exotic meat like rattle snake rabbit meat. They also have a decent list of drift beers. Once you finished placing your order at the cashier, server will bring you the food. Inside, you will find DJ playing music and outdoor with a street view over looking the downtown. Parking is in the street and it can be hard to come by. Walking distance from the downtown Little Tokyo.

This is a great spot to get some delicious bratwursts and beers. They have a large variety of options and they are all really tasty! We also got the French fries with curry ketchup, really like the variety of dips you can choose from for that too. You order at the counter and find a seat on the back. We were here on a Sunday night and there was a live DJ there playing great music. Overall the vibe is great to get good food and drinks with friends!

It’s almost only one place you can eat and sit in a good price around Art district LA. It’s always busy and takes a while to get a food. Potato fries and sauces are really good. It’s overhyped in my opinion; some of the waitstaff seemed a bit impatient and the food was not great. The food was nothing special and tasted overly burnt for both the sausages and the bread. It’s also not cheap but the area is pricey in general. The bread was twice the length of the sausage and the sausages were quite small. You’ll order at one side and they have both indoor and outdoor seating which is nice. The fries were the best part.

  • JG Schwartz

Awards all around. Great sausages with lots of veggie options, super nice staff, decent bar, crayons and mustard in the table. What else could you ask for? Also best fries in town hands down. If you've ever had Pomme Frites in NYC it's just as good with dope sauces to boot.

Don’t leave your table with your food half eaten, or the servers clean your entire food plate and don’t refund you anything. I went up to get a beer and had a half eaten sausage and fries left and the server cleaned up my entire table and threw out my entire meal. Seriously? The food is good so the cooks are clearly doing a good job. But the servers and the cleaners ARE NOT.

Open with outside seating available. Fantastic sausage and beer options. Very friendly staff that provides excellent service. Street parking can be a little tight but if you keep your eyes open there's always people leaving in the area. There's an inside dining area that's closed during pandemic. Be adventurous and try something new. Even the rattlesnake sausage was good. Oh yeah, and Pie Hole is across the street for dessert.

Loved this place so much! I got the mango jalapeño bratwurst with caramelized onions and everything down to the bread was super tasty. The fries were great and I loved them with the chipotle aioli sauce and the bleu cheese sauce. I liked the dark aesthetic inside and the seating was fun. They had more private seating along the walls and then larger group seating in the center similar to a traditional German beer hall.

  • Steve Ozelton

They have a nice selection of both sausages and beer. I tried the bacon and duck paired with the Bernardus beer. They sausage was very tasty, moist and well seasoned. The line was fairly long but it’s possible to order a beer while waiting in line which was helpful. My only regret was that I didn’t order an Apple pie ice cream sandwich and I should have ordered two sausages instead of 1.

Great spot for hotdogs, be it regular or exotic. My go-to is the snake/rabbit hot dog. But this time I got the buffalo/cherry/mint. It was good, but would probably choose another meat like the lamb. The Fries are cut thick, & the beers are cold. Love this spot!

Before COVID this place was a great spot for a few beers and some sausage. Now it's still great but I can only get it delivery, and I'm so happy I can. They have a ton of wonderful sausages, but they also have some real exotic meats as well. Besides normal beef and pork, there's duck, buffalo, and even sausage with rattlesnake in it. Their fries are some of the best. Enjoy.

Standing in line, the workers there take your beer order so you have at least a drink in your hand while waiting to put in your order. I also enjoyed the opportunity to draw on the tables. They forgot our ranch, but when we told them about it - they gave us 2 immediately after. Which was nice.

Rattlesnake and rabbit is the best sausage An awesome place to enjoy a delicious and fancy hotdog, plenty of flavor and juicy. Try all the sausage variety to see which one is your favorite. Don't forget to add fries and the salsas. Try the difference mustard option (my favorite the hole grain) Drink a beer with friends and enjoy this fabulous place.

First time here: food was good, staff was nice/helpful, and i felt comfortable with the ourdoor seating. Would have just liked to have a little more, amount wise, with the toppings. I love sauerkraut &had to ask for extra because there was was very little on the hotdog. Beer was also very good! Overall, i would come back &try more flavors (beer &food) :)

Great sausages and AMAZING fries. I got the duck and bacon sausage with an order of large fries. The sausage was flavorful, and the fries were incredibly crispy while still being fluffy on the inside. I chose the pesto mayo and curry ketchup, and while both were good, my favorite was the curry ketchup by far

The bartender at Eighty Two recommended this place and I'm glad he did. The sausages were flavorful, they had a fantastic selection of beer on tap and a full bar. The white truffle oil fries stole the show though. A large was enough to share between 4 of us but we could've polished off another order.

The spacious location and decor is beautiful, especially outside seating. There communal tables make the joint unique. The sausages are ok but their sauces make up for it. Great selection of drinks, beer, cocktails etc

Love this place! Great tasting exotic sandwiches and normal ones for those not so daring. They have the best fries with the best dipping sauces the blue cheese with bacon is my favorite. They also have a great beer selection to choose from the bartender was very knowledgeable and patient making sure to pair the right beer with the meal.

Amazingly well prepared sausages. Very rich flavour and nice, firm texture. The bun was also very good! Good selection of different mustard at the table. They have good beers as well. The interior is very cosy, it has a good atmosphere. This is an entirely new definition of hot dogs. The price was reasonable for this good quality.

Was looking for good casual places to take my parents to eat when they came to visit me and this place was perfect! They have a fun variety of sausages to choose from with a decent selection of toppings and sauces to put on your brat! The fries are also really good and plenty of dipping sauces to choose from.

Just okay vegetarian sausages. Rather dry sausage and dry bread. Great concept, just not great execution. Lovely Belgian beer selection.

I was amazed by this place. Seemed small but there is a back space where you can sit and they have a bar as well. Loved it!! The atmosphere. Definitely going back. Hot dogs were good. About $8 each. Good different choices. I had the Duck and also the Rattlesnake under Exotics. Fries were really good too!

Love this place! Great beer and hot dogs with a lot of sausage varieties. Got the lamb and that was heavenly. My girlfriend Ling and I are trying to be vegans and it's so great they even have veggie options. Line could get long but we were lucky when we got there and had no wait. More

Always the best fries and great selection of hotdogs and beers. They open till late, and it is a perfect spot to eat after a night out in the art district. Outdoor seating is awesome too with heaters, although they close early (before midnight). …

  • Brent Meeder

Great spot in the art district, parking is quite a challenge but the food is good. Hot Italian is a solid choice and the fries are double deep fried and thick. Crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Been coming here a few times now when in LA.

Good food. No wait staff. Good Beer menu but not easy to decipher especially with volumes in ml. Homeless people have stopped to pander to customers on two different visits of mine this year.

Great place to stop!! Awesome hotdogs!! We have sensitive stomachs so guessed we’d get some pain after this hotdog as well. HOWEVER, it did not happen!!! Loved the quality food here. Will go back with family!!!
