I've never been the type to go online and write a bad review about a location. But I've been working for a corporate company and we strive to make our customers feel like part of our family. What's the need to mention corporate? Well just follow along you'll see what I mean. I just moved back from California a few months now and started shopping for a gym membership. This location is only 2 mins away from my house, naturally I drifted here first went online where a 7 day pass was announced. I want to see what gyms offer specially with this new "normal". I walk in this location with my guest pass, here the front desk directed me to a short guy who's name I won't mention .I don't want to throw him under the bus that bad. Anyway he asks for my I.D. I hand it over then he says he can't allow me to have a guest pass because records show I had a guest pass 10 years ago in 2011.....At this I simply kindly say ...."but 10 years ago".... He says ...."well that's corporate I can't do nothing about that". Without care he got up and left the desk, funny thing is he even gave me a mean mug lmao . I got up and walked out. Dear short guy, find a job you actually like if you can't greet people with a smile or find a way to get them to spend their money in your company. Dear corporate don't be silly and make the changes necessary not just the ones customers need to do (masks). So now I'm looking into other gyms farther from home but I will get to see what their experience is like before I get a membership. One last question corporate, do you really tie your employees hands to not be able to acommodate your possible customers? 04/16/21 They never even bothered to reach out for everyone's information.

Today, January 3,2022, I called this location to cancel my membership because of the mandatory vaccination requirement for entry. When I called I asked the woman for on the phone if they would be requiring proof of vaccination and she explained they would be. I then asked her if I can cancel my membership as I do not wish to get vaccinated at this time and she said “well then you can next time”… hmm, “I can next time what?!” She said, “you can get the vaccine.” Wth! Who are you “VERONICA at the front desk” to tell me I can not cancel my membership unless vaccinated to enter the building and do so!!! Completely unprofessional! Veronica then continued to explain that she was told to explain that to people inquiring about the vaccination verification! You have got to be kidding me XSPORT!!! You’re suggesting to people to get the vaccine or they can not cancel their membership!!! I will be contacting corporate as this is completely unacceptable. If you want the vaccine that is your right! But do not push it on those who aren’t ready or don’t feel the need to provide medical papers to irrelevant people! Side note: I have been going to this location for years! I live 35 minutes away and for a few reasons I kept going to the brickyard location. The main reason being that most people are there to workout and not mingle like other locations. UPDATE***: I never received any call it email back in regards to my concerns or canceling my membership. The following month I had gotten charged again. I had to fight the charges through my bank and cancel that way. Get it together Xsport!!

1. This location is 24/7. 2. Almost ALL of the smaller weights are gone. No 2.5's, 5's or 10lb plates. It seems the dumbbells have been replaced and now have security tags. There are no kettlebells. But, there is brand new cardio equipment. 3. Cleanliness is terrible. Guests do not re-rack their weights or clean machines after use. Locker room garbage cans are overflowing. Locker room cleanliness is not maintained or sanitized. 4. The $9.95 a month membership is riddled with hidden fees. I ended up paying $87 to join plus an additional $50 on my second month. I've been a member of Xsport for a few years, I cancelled my membership during the pandemic to join a smaller crossfit gym that took safety precautions more seriously. I re-joined this location a few months ago and realized that throughout the pandemic, members were stealing dumbbells and small weights. There are almost no 2.5's, 5's or 10lb plates. I dont know whats going on with this location because, other Xsport locations are much cleaner and well maintained. I emailed management about all the missing weights about a month ago. If I want to go up in weight on a lift I need to jump 10-25lbs.I don't want to cancel my membership here but, at this point it doesn't fit my needs. It's been a big waste of money so, I just wanted to warn other people who are interested in joining. There are many other options for gyms popping up in this area all for similar costs of $30-$50 a month without any hidden fees.

Where do i begin? Been a member for numerous years and i will be cancelling my membership very soon if things do not change. First of all, it is truly disrepectful to all the members of this gym when the staff does not keep up with the problems that arise. Till this day i do not know who is the manager of this gym. A manager should roam the gym and ask the members if anything needs to be addressed. Bathrooms are always filthy and rarely see staff cleaning it. Sauna and steam room constantly breaking (which i understand that can happen; however, it shouldnt take days to fix). The pool is always filthy. There should be weekly maintance on the pool. Machines broken for days. This is truly unacceptable. There used to be staff picking up and cleaning machines on the second floor; now it seems like you do not have personnel for said matter. There is many more problems that i have not listed. Members are getting sick of these constant problems. Fix your management. Members would gladly pay more as long as everything was running smoothly. If these problems do not get fix im leaving and never turning back. And please dont respond to this message with an automated message. Make it happen people are tired of all the nonsense.

If I could give this location negative stars, I would. This is location staff is extremely unprofessional. I wanted to cancel my personal training session which I never used, I only went to the free session I was given!! The training I was paired with had no real clue what he was doing, he had only been a personal trainer for 3 months. That’s fine but have a plan on how you are going to meet the goals I set for myself. He never set me up with the app for us to communicate through, nor did he give me the work out regiment I requested for the days I don’t see him soooooo many other red flags that I noticed after attending the gym. Then when I called to find out how to cancel, the gym Manager was EXTREMELY RUDE. She told me I had to write a letter to corporate to cancel the membership, which I was never informing during sign-up. To top things off after calling the corporate office the guideline to cancel a personal training membership is ridiculous! I was never given a copy of my contract via email or in person (which is illegal) so I will be following up with legal advice. Just all around horrible experience. I DO NOT RECOMMEND XSPORT TO ANYONE !

Its sad to read the the reviews and relate so much to it, one the main points pointed out by other members its the breaking of lockers. There are no outside people coming in, its all members, ones it’s reported to management the answer you get it happens all the time. Really??? Like thats what you really want to tell your members? After the fortune you pay in membership fees and maintenance fees every year? You have personal trainers just seating down playing on their phones maybe they should be doing some walking around the gym and picking stuff and maybe a little productive but then followers follow the leadership at this location, to who concerns cant be brought up to, because he has a very clear way of letting you know he does not CARE one BIT!!! Maybe if corporate will give some attention to the location and make some house cleaning things would maybe change but at the same time corporate customer services has the same poor customer services skills as those at gym, pretty faces are nice but it takes a little more than that to run a show. One bad experience makes it worth enough to not return to Xsport!

My first day at this Xsport location was a poor experience. I applied for the 7-day guest pass online and when I showed it to the front desk I was immediately passed off to the sales counselor. He was very pretentious and rude. I let him know I was settling back in Chicago from another state and he insinuated that I was a traveler exploiting the offer. He implied that I was frustrated because I tilted my head down to rub my eye. Additionally, per policy guests have to be a local and present a state ID to use the guest pass. In my case, this is unfortunate because I just returned home from active duty and do not have a state ID yet. I offered my military card and that was not enough. Instead, he kept pressuring me to sign up for a membership as if it were the only solution. How do we go from temporary guest pass to full blown membership on my first day? I genuinely and simply wanted to try out Xsport for a week to see if it’d be a good fit but their customer service was unpleasant. To add, the facility and equipment seemed very worn down. I shall continue to explore other gyms.

They need to hire a cleaning crew and stay consistent with it. The basketball court is filthy. The men's washroom is always out of paper towels and garbage cans running over. Extremely poor cleaning at this gym. This location has a wristband policy that they very casually enforce in order to utilize the basketball court. Yesterday, 11/7 was the first day I was required to get a wristband and this was because the regional manager or some higher up was at the location. Meanwhile the place lacks basic cleaning and the paper towels are not being filled. This wristband policy is also a liability. If someone or something becomes tangled in the band this can cause physical harm to someone. They do periodic checks on the court, stopping the flow of the game and or workout. Also, they way they come on the court like some kind of mob is not professional either. Brickyard needs to revisit this ridiculous policy.

I just moved to the area and transferred to this gym. I was trying to get my key card printed out and just walk on the treadmill a bit. Alexis , who was very polite, helped me get that done. But then Bryant came to put his input on strength training. We stood up to do some exercises but I wasn’t very comfortable working out with people directly looking at me, my self esteem is low, so I didn’t want to and let them know I wasn’t feeling comfortable. I don’t know if Bryant has an ego and got offended by that but he started talking with harsh attitude telling me that he wasn’t trying to discourage me but that cardio wasn’t going to help me achieve my goals. I don’t understand how me telling him I felt uncomfortable lead him to telling me I can’t achieve a goal. It’s about the way you say things and approach people.

Horrible ventilation makes the facility extremely humid. Would recommend keeping all the doors, windows, and whatnot open 24/7. Crank up the blowers, buy some fans, anything? I can literally see steam while walking in. It almost makes me wonder whether OSHA would have something to say about this if they were given a heads up. Ridiculous numbers of people show up before/after usual work hours. If you work first shift, you may want to consider other gyms or working out at night for the most convenience Good variety and number equipment. Some of it, such as the inclined benches for abs, are very nearly broken. People have issues re-racking weights and lifting an inch away from the dumbbell racks. This seems to be getting better though. Besides that, people in the free weights area are all nice and well-mannered.

Pretty good gym. I've been coming for the past 5 years or so. Good and bad staff have come and gone, fairly clean place. Sometimes people will litter or leave their weights out of place and of course it's the staff's job to clean up but most of them do the best they can. I can't can't blame them for not being able to keep up during rush hour, plus they can't control the the type of person that comes in to that extent. Most staff is very nice. Most other people are too from the interactions I've had. I'll definitely keep coming back. Most of the bad staff has gone. You will never get rid of the older insecure men trying to start problems with you at any gym though. Again, not the locations fault. It's an issue with most commercial gyms

This brickyard location is terrible very unprofessional. Do not follow the rules I know they are based on chicago but every club should follow the same rules. I am a member that visits random locations did not appreciate being approach for not wearing a mask while working out alone. When the email I received states only when not working out, to wear a mask. The employee stayed that is because your in Norridge they have different rules. This should not matter where my main gym is . You are a business that are global you should follow everything the same. If you planning to visit this gym be warned they are not nice . Considering moving my two memberships elsewhere. Get it together ..

THIS PLACE HAS MICE. I recently went to this location since most locations in the city are still closed during covid. I was working out on the bike area when a mouse ran passed my feet to the supplement area and I immediately stood up. The front desk looked over and told them that I saw I mouse. They giggled and continued to check in guests and not walk over to see for themselves. Another member who saw the situation told me he saw a mouse last week too and by the looks of it they haven’t fixed the issue. Who do I have to call to express my concern because this location has been my favorite but I don’t feel comfortable working out with mice running around.

Arrived during busy hours as planned to avoid repetition from last time. So I took a risk leaving my belongings in a locker making it harder to be vandalized. While working out it was unbearable wondering if my belongings would still be there. In addition I felt that Xsport didn't showed me much support when I contacted them to figure out what could be done for me. Not sure if I want to continue with my subscription. First time back after months and my lock was cut off along with other multiple ones. They took my rent money, shades, watch and wireless headphones. I heard its been happening constantly and apparently nothing is being done to prevent it.

Free weights (dumbbells and plates) are still lacking. There were additional free weights added but still limited. This location is pretty busy most of the time so the more free weights needed for the demand. The steam room has not been working for a while and when it does very little steam comes out. A couple of shower stalls are out of order. Shower areas are not clean for the most part. My monthly bill increased without notifying me. I asked the employee but I did not get a clear answer. I really like this location but still needs a lot of improvement in every department. The patron culture here is good as everybody are well behaved.

I’ve been a member on and off here and there, I joined this gym for convenience. I remember coming here in 2004, and here we are in 2022…the equipment looks like it’s from 2004…can we have a little more pride for this business? you guys have been around for a while now and you’re not even taking good care of your own gym. I get it, some ppl come and mess it up, so let’s hold them accountable then? We gotta do better than this, and this goes for all the xsports in the entire city. Go ahead and respond with the copy and paste you’ve been giving everyone, and I did send an email to corporate, haven’t heard anything. oh well. whatever.

I wish I could give 0 stars. This gym used to be the best until COVID hit. Missing dumbells since June of 2020 and they haven’t replaced them. Adjustable benches are broken to where you can’t adjust some of them, there’s a lack of plates so it’s nearly impossible to find 10s and 25s, evening staff is always on their phone or in a group just talking, gossiping, or whatever they’re doing, nobody cleans, nobody puts weights back (that’s including gym members). It’s getting to the point where I’m just about to cancel my membership. Why am I or even others paying $10-40 a month and they can’t even get their act straight.

Tanning beds have been neglected so badly. There are bulbs out in every single bed including the stand up. They aren't even getting hot anymore. You can physically see how old the bulbs are and this is just ridiculous. The only thing xsport has on other gyms now is 24 hours. At least other gyms take care of their tanning equipment. CHANGE YOUR BULBS! New complaint! WHY IS THERE STILL NO AC!? I watched an elderly member almost passout today from the heat inside this.gym Absolutely unacceptable and disgusting. And this is the second year in a row! What the heck are we paying for!?

I came in today with hopes of starting a new gym routine. Instead I canceled my membership. After finally deciding to go back to the gym. I was sure disappointed. 4/5 hand sanitizers that I tried were empty. Hand towel dispensers empty. The “disinfectant” chemical they are using has a 10 minute kill time which means that you will have to wait 10 minutes after spraying in order to have your equipment disinfected. Even with a low capacity of members. You still can’t find available dumbbells. This gym is still terrible at maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Absolutely garbage. I wouldn’t bring my dog here. They charge the more than other Xsports and have nothing to show for. The ceilings are always leaking, they never clean the basketball court. They do their absolute best to nickel and dime you every chance they get. They don’t offer towels. I broke my foot here while working out, no one offered to help, and had no sympathy when I tried to postpone my membership fees since I was injured and wouldn’t utilize the facility. The list goes on, do yourself a favor and chose another gym. Garbage. Garbage garbage.

Glad to see that the gym finally has replaced all the busted lockers. I also see that they redid the the sauna in the Men's locker room too. Now let's see if they can maintain those 2 things which were just a F'n eyesore and stopped me from going there. Other than that, the gym is okay. Good setup with the free weights being upstairs and all other machines on 1st floor. They also don't give out sweat towels which I personally think needs to change. They get enough money from all the people signing up. The little things could go a long way.

Gym is super dirty, it seems like they never clean. Lockers smell horrible. Sauna is beat up and there's wood missing, you can see the insulation. I go regularly to Logan and that gym is paradise compared to this one. The wright's are always missing at the Brickyard, and it's pretty Damn ghetto, someone always has an attitude. No manners. But the staff isn't to blame for that. Nonetheless they need to step it up if they want to compete. It's convenient since I work close, but I honestly prefer making a longer trip to Logan as of now.

Each year this location gets worse and worse. Free weights are no where near to be found even on less traffic periods of the day ( I honestly think they get stolen bc you can’t find the lower weighted ones around). Some machines are not in working condition. Service is actually good ( the one positive characteristic of this location) but the availability of the weights is so frustrating for someone whose trying to squeeze a workout in. The basketball court hard wood has so many flat areas… definitely needs addressing.

I was looking for a gym to start my summer work out. The moment I get inside I wasn’t greeted & it’s Easter Sunday. I told them I’m looking to sign up. Long story short no employees never attended to help me. I don’t like the service they have & I will never ever attend to a gym like this. Remind u the staff was all white so I didn’t have a fighting chance being black. I rather take my membership to LA Fitness. 5 thumbs down. & I guarantee they won’t reply back that’s how screwed up this gym is.

The only thing I have to say about this place is the equipment is in decent condition. But that the only good point. . The locker room is dirty as hell with tissue all over the place. garbage overflowing . The treadmills and equipment don’t look like they been wiped down or cleaned . Most of the people in the building don’t have a mask on, you’ll think the pandemic was over with. What’s the purpose of having a sign that say mask are required if no one is wearing them. Might as well just take the signs down.

This gym is absolutely one of my favorite places in the whole world. The equipment is slowly but surely getting replaced/fixed. The walls have just been painted, and the ac problems have been addressed The front staff and sense of community at brickyard are unmatched! They know their regular customers by name and often stop to have personalized conversations with people. My trainer is extremely personable, helpful, and extremely kind. I wouldn’t ever let anyone else train me.

Not too crazy about this place. The workers are cocky and have bad attitudes. Not the mention, the place is dirty. They try to upsell to you and, I don't mind but c'mon, the machines are outdated and parts missing. Upstairs, people slam weights really hard that, I'm surprised the floor hasn't fallen. Too much going on and people just using up the machine and staying there taking time on their phones and hanging out. Just downright horrible environment.

Maintenance and some staff have dramatically made this Xsport one of the worst. No paper towels in the towel dispenser, the bathrooms are filthy and dirty. There are no Porters working whatsoever besides at night and what seems weekends. Weights are all over the place, people go in the jacuzzi and pool in their dirty underwear, sweaty waist trimmer and some staff have their friends eat wings by the jacuzzi. Where is management here nowhere to be found.

Typical of other locations it has plenty of machines/treadmills/bikes as well as a large free weight area. My only issues are that this location does not supply towels and it seems to be fairly dirty from other patrons leaving empty disposable drinks bottles and wadded paper towels everywhere. And I’ve never seen anyone who might be considered janitorial in anyway. Otherwise a good place to work out, just bring your own towel and expect a mess.

I went to this location for years. I used to workout with a personal trainer named Eli who was great. He motivated me to really push myself when I wanted to quit. I love how big this location is and how much equipment they have as far as amount and variety. Some of the equipment is getting old but there are also a lot of newer machines. Parking can be an issue if you plan on going after 4pm. One thing I WISH this location had is yoga classes.

This is the first gym I ever went to and I wanted say that X Sport gyms feel way too intimidating. I don’t feel welcomed at all particularly at this gym. The employees behind the desk don’t greet you half of the time and they have some sort of attitude when you speak to them. So I switched to Planet Fitness and it’s way better. Sure it might not be the best gym, but I felt welcomed and the whole vibe was so much more friendly to newcomers.

They only turn the air on when they feel like it and last summer it was broken completely. They have all the weights upstairs, and introductory science classes taught us that heat rises. They won’t be satisfied until someone passes out from heat stroke. Also…… the bathroom stalls are disgusting. Please remind me what I am paying for if a girl can’t even get toilet tissue, a bathroom stall door that actually locks, and air conditioning

Staff is nice and helpful. But the bench issues by the free weights is just unacceptable. Only 2 of them are even functional and not even fully. The benches have been broken for over 2 months now. This is the third time I've tried to talk to management about the company doing something about this and I know it is out of their hands. Corporate needs to start paying attention to these reviews and do something about this equipment asap!

Update: I reached out to them per the comment below. And they worked with me to make up for what happened. The gym is huge and has a lot of great equipment but doing free weights is mayhem during the evening rush. Be extremely cautious with your belongings in the locker room. On the very first day after signing up went back to my locker to find that all my belongings had been stolen. Filed a report in the gym and called to no avail.

I usually go here at evening to late nights anywhere from 8PM-4AM, So based off my experiences by going at those times, it ranges from full (mostly treadmills and walk machines being used) to empty and get to use everything. Not bad at all, been to other gyms, they did offer better services as having towels, cleaner locker rooms, but still a solid place to work out, they do have what you want if you want a good work out.

This is the closest xsport to my home and I’ll drive an extra 2-3 miles to avoid it.. Went back after a year expecting some changes, but to my surprise there is no a/c and they try to compensate with 3-4 portable units that are way to small for this place. It’s hard to find smaller 5/10lbs weights so imagine benching and having to increase weight by 25lbs at a time. Please do something if you care about your brand!

El olor a hierva es insoportable deberían de prohibir fumar hierva aquí de mal gusto update 3/10/23 ❌ There's a group of rats going around breaking locks and stealing peoples belongings. Why Pay for a membership at a place where you Can't even work out in peace. Even with a lock you risk your belongings being stolen. The gym needs to find a Solution for this as they are aware and nothing is being done.

I love xsport especially this location my only issue is lack of weights. I can never find 2.5 lbs plates anywhere in this gym and the lack of 10 lb plates is also absurd. This location also lacks low weight dumbbells , I have been training at xsport gyms for almost 10 years now and almost every location outside of the ones downtown or near Logan Square seems to be lacking weights. This never happened in the past.

The staff is not helpful at all, I went to cancel my membership because I moved and the GM was no where to be found. The girl that was 'helping' me kept turning around and looking everywhere except me. When you speak to someone at least be courteous and attentive to them. I've been trying to cancel my membership for the past couple of months but they make it hard on you. I do not recommend this location at all.

This place is the most toxic, unprofessional environment to be in. I went in the other day to work out and overheard a fitness instructor tell another male employee how he was banging one of his clients. This place is ridiculous! Those fitness instructors are always flirting and making women feel uncomfortable. Even my friend stopped coming here due to that. Managers turn a blind eye to bs around them.

I recently misplaced my car/house keys in the men's locker room after my work out. The staff was truly helpful in helping me locate them. The front desk staff and the locker-room attendant found them for me....turns out I just spaced-out while getting dressed and put the keys in an empty locker as I was getting dressed. Honest, friendly and supportive staff. I am very grateful for their help.

I cant stand how out dated this gym is. The staff working there are more focused on who they're messing with rather than the dirty bathrooms. I've only come here because its convenient, but if i could i would go somewhere else. Even the scale is the old one. IDk I just wished it was better, espescially for the area it is in, its considered one of the better gyms.

I love the Brickyard Xsport I've been coming here for years. But I have gone to the other locations and they are a lot nicer. I wish they would refresh the look of this location. Also it would be nice if they would give you towels for the pool area and not just the Spa area Needs some remodeling!! Though still loyal to this location.

You can definitely tell that XSport does not care about certain locations. They put more care and make sure it’s neat in locations closer to downtown. This location has messed up machines and the weights are literally all over the floor. Not safe and very frustrating trying to use the dumbbells because they are never in the rack.

At first, the gym was in mild shape. But over the time, the gym started to get worse. There are multiple machines that are broken or have broken parts. In fact, there is a machine that has been broken for over a year now and it still hasn’t been fixed. That just shows the lack of care and maintenance of this establishment.

I am new to this gym since may. The morning crowd is pretty good mask on and kick workouts. After and night are horrible people are with mask off and supervision is horrible even with staff only staying at the front desk. People on the phones a lot so its hard to get a good workout. Recommend going in the morning.

I just returned since the pandemic and I love to exercise at the xsport establishments....only thing gets me is this........if I'm paying as much as one pays there at least include the child care area like d** 10 per child per month when I just dropped 500 for the year is very UNFORUNATE UMMMM FIX IT NOW XSPORT

I have tried to cancel my membership 4 times and they just hit my account for $80. This gym is probably one of the worst gyms in the country. Most of the machines and treadmills need to be replaces they're all broken and do not work correctly if at all. Some of trainers are fat and out of shape. The members are pretty ghetto and obnoxious, some look sketchy like gang members. I d stay away.

The employees do not try to help when someone has their account frozen. I tried to extend my freeze and the male employee stated to me non verbatim that “I don’t have to worry about calling again. You will get charged when you scan in the gym.” Definitely not the case because I was very much charged 40 bucks.

Any other gym I go to, I always end up leaving and coming back to brickyard. It is the best gym I've ever been to so far. It's two levels and there are much more cables than any other location. The core area is spasious and perfect. It gets really busy in the afternoon so I try to go early or later at night.

I have been a xsport member since I got out the military in 2016 I have never had issues until recent as of November 2022. Most of the machines are broken or aren’t in service an incident happened at the Brickyard location. My car was broken into nobody bothered to care or help from the management aspect.

Please make sure all gym goers are wearing their masks properly and not wearing it under their noses or under their chins not covering their mouths or nose. It defeats the purpose of wearing a mask. Also I have seen many people not wiping down equipment at all after they use it. Please fix this.

This gym is a joke. I was charged more than the monthly fee. I called corp on hold for 2.5 hours I called a regular branch and their best response was “I don’t know I just clocked in” what kind of clowns they have working there. One way or another I will cancel their scam/service!

Not a bad place to workout but during peak hours that place can be messy, weights and benches all over the place. The front desk in my opinion needs some training in how to be courteous and polite to gym goers. Some just have attitudes and don't greet you at all. Very rude.

Nothing is ever working in this gym. The steam and sauna are always out of order. The bathrooms, pool, and jacuzzi are dirty. It’s very moist and I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s mold in there. The lockers are always used because people leave their lock over night.

Great atmosphere. Plenty of emmeneties. Friendly staff. Best time to go is early morning or early afternoon. After 5pm a lot of members attend but there is plenty of equipment so everyone can get a good workout in. Plenty of parking. Erea feels safe.
