I booked an appointment with Yae 3 weeks ago ahead of my birthday on 9/8. The morning before, I’m preparing for my appointment and I notice that the location on my confirmation email is showing an entirely different state even though the stylist it says I booked with is “yae CHARLOTTE”. So I reach out first thing in the AM to confirm that my appointment was indeed in Charlotte. Yae texts back and says she *forgot* she had to stay home to wait for the mechanics to come fix her AC. Cool, I understand things happen. Not sure how you *forgot* to inform the people who booked with you that day, but I guess informing her clients wasn’t a priority for her. I’m sure that if I hadn’t reached out myself I would have shown up at the salon and been stood up. I tried to be flexible, let her know I could come later once the air was fixed but that my bday was the next day and my flight left the next morning at 9 AM. She told me to give her an hour to sort things out…4-5 hours pass and no update so I follow up. She’s like I don’t want you to feel like I’d ever do you no kinda way I didn’t expect this to happen. Still, I’m keeping it cool…still no resolution, still barely responding so she did INDEED do me that kinda way lol but still, I’m keeping it cool I message her again like I have full grounds to leave you yet another bad review but instead doing that and potentially hurting your business, I’m going to offer you grace. Never met this girl a day in my life, but business owner to business owner, I offered for she and I to sit down over lunch to talk through why clients are continually having such poor experiences with her and to share systems, softwares and strategies along with info I’ve learned through various coaching programs to help her get the business running smoothly and to repair her reputation. I let her know she’s way too talented to be out here moving like this. She ignored the message and offer completely. Lol but sadly enough, some people don’t want to/be do better, they wanna cap and flex on the gram She just responded saying she’s having a bad day and yadayadayada as if that’s an excuse for completely ruining someone else’s BIRTHday who choose you of all ppl to do business with. She offers to accommodate me some other time and I ask “are you offering some kind of incentive to rebook? Like a discounted service” (which, if she was a professional, is what she SHOULD be doing to anyone she inconveniences and leaves hanging) …no reply. This was 3 days ago and still no reply yet yesterday she’s on IG advertising that “walk ins are welcome” lol like girl what about the people you stood up?! Yeah you can offer to reschedule my appt but I couldn’t reschedule my birthday, sis. So what are YOU going to do to repair my trust in you and to incentivize me to give you another chance. Nothing. So here we are. Grace didn’t work, plus this is clearly a pattern for her so let me just tell it like it is and exactly as it was. 0/10. Do not recommend.

This was my first silk press at this salon in Charlotte. I haven’t had a press in about 3 years, I just get blow out to get my maintenance trims. I booked for a Friday afternoon. I enjoyed myself as it had the feel of an old school beauty salon (drinks, music, shop talk and food) I booked same day online and arrived for appointment. I was asked to sit and wait (20-30 minutes) not bad at all however once I was brought back to shampooing bowl I was ask to detangle my hair even more and it was already detangle. My stylist was the owner’s daughter. I personally prefer my hair wet to detangle. I asked for a steam treatment that was lack luster. Then it was time to prep for silk press. I remember asking and confirming that they used HEAT Protectant bc I didn’t want significant damage to my natural curly hair and was told it will be applied. This salon does not have clients facing the mirror to see what stylist is doing which is something I normally do not prefer for the safety of my hair. However I continued with the process of the press, I have tends to be finer when blown out or straightened so I advise not using a high heat as if you would with someone with thicker hair. My press lasted 2 days and barely made it to Sunday as it started to frizz. I used rollers to give it a little longevity. Last week I went to wash my hair and my natural hair is DESTROYED and I’m hurt bc I really enjoyed the salon experience. After double cleansing twice, 3 deep conditioning treatments and protein treatment my hair will not revert. My bangs are basically straight and my curls are nonexistent and are 3a/3b when my hair was 4a/4b. I will now have to cut my hair after doing all the years of work to get it healthy after going to Dominican salons my entire life. This is the only reason I could not give 5 stars. They offer other services that I may try in the future but I wouldn’t recommend their silk press service with true natural hair. If you are “heat trained” than I think you would be more use to the results.

I had an appointment on Saturday at 9:00am for a traditional sew in. The stylists began showing up at 9:15-9:30am. If this was a client, we would be charged or had our deposit taken AND appointments cancelled. Why shouldn’t we be offered the same respect? I thought it was a one off for the owner’s assistant to do EVERYTHING except sew the hair. Color, shampoo, blow dry and braided my hair for the install. I tipped her because she did most of the work. The owner sat on her phone the entire time. The sew in was tight and she did not use a net. I felt ever tug and pull. You also have to pay for her hair (never told me a price either) or she would ask you to use a different stylist. The hair is BAD! It was colored and washed TWICE and still smelled terrible. So 4 hours and $550 later for a one day STYLE, I will take this as a lesson learned. My husband helped me remove the hair on Sunday. Yes, I got it done on Saturday. Yes, I can do my own hair. Yes, I could afford it but I have NEVER in life paid that kind of money. Yes, I reached out to the owner multiple times. No, I will not dispute it because I believe in karma. My concerns were not important enough to her because her money means way more. You can’t go through life with that attitude because you will lose more than you took away. Hopefully, I will gain more than I lost. I will be going to a stylist on Saturday and I am hoping for a great experience! I can use my very high quality hair (mimics black hair- Knappy Hair Extensions) and I will not be spending that much money for an install. I wished her the best of luck with everything in the future but I would never recommend this salon. She seems to be a great person but $$$$$ has altered her view on customer service and doing what’s right. I really wanted to like her and finally find a “go-to” stylist but I just got…got.

I wished I would have done my homework!!! I found this salon on Instagram! The young lady who did my hair Tiquasha or Ty as they call her in the salon, is not an experienced hair stylist!!!! I was badly burned on my forehead and the color I ask for which she tried twice to do by adjusting it after washing it out, was not successful! It was way too light and I was told by the real professionals that it was also uneven and she didn't get all my strands of hair! I paid $180 to be a lab rat. The owner Yea did come over and ask what was wrong with it and I did tell her this was not the color in the picture that I gave for reference. She said to me that most people that are not used to getting their hair dyed become shocked by the color. For the record, I had my hair colored before, and they saw the old color on the end of my hair. I explain to her this is not what I had in mind and I referred back to the picture used to describe what color I wanted in the beginning. She did say to give them a chance to fix it. She did tell Tiquasha also known as Ty to use a Volume 4 ( color term) but I insisted on leaving because I was very upset with my time being wasted by someone who is not a professional color expert in the hair industry. With this place, if they mess up or you're unhappy with the work they rather waste more of your day and practice again on your hair than at least offer to discount the price. I feel this salon is just a bunch of women in their early 20s trying to figure out life and what path they want to take! I don't foresee this salon being around in a couple of years if changes are not made!

After moving to CLT 2 years ago, YaeHairCare was my saving grace for my hair. My biggest worry was the process of having to search through, filter and locate stylists in the area before landing on a good stylist or salon where customers are treated respectfully and the WORK matches the prices. I was fortunate enough to have found Yae early in that journey and I haven’t allowed any other salon to touch my hair ever since. Not only is she and the other stylists welcoming, friendly, professional, and supportive of my individual hair needs, they make the salon experience SO fun and laid back. No cattiness or weird vibes that some clients unfortunately are faced with as new faces at a salon. Yae has kept my hair healthy and helped me maintain everything from microlinks, to tape-ins, to my new fall color that I’m in LOVE with. In the nearly year and a ½ I’ve been there, I’ve seen how they show so much appreciation for their clients and care for ALL hair textures. The best part is that while Yae is the face of the salon and is obviously in high demand among her own clients, you can tell she carefully picks some the best in Charlotte to be part of the salon. So even if you don’t get in Yae’s chair the first time, her team is JUST as skilled. My personal favs are Bri J. (ESPECIALLY on curls), Tae, Niya, and Ty. There isn’t a single visit to Yae’s that I’ve regretted!

I absolutely love this salon! Everyone is so nice, so professional and so respectful. Even though, I'm older, the owner asked me if the type of music was offensive to me and offered to change the station. WHO DOES THAT? Also, the environment has so much young positive energy and is absolutely beautifully decorated. This young black queen is doing it!!!! Now, let get to my hair tho... All I can say is Charlotte finally has someone who knows how to do a silk press without frying your natural hair to death. I've had experiences here where my hair spelled like fried chicken for a week or two afterwards; but not this time AND the silk press lasted for 3 weeks. Of course I'm sure that will change during the summer months but I'll take it now. Yesterday I branched out and got micro-links installed and I'm so so pleased. Yae and her assistant Jessica colored the hair to match my natural hair color without me even asking. I had a Charlotte stylist to place a brown closure on my black hair even when I asked before hand about coloring the closure first; so imagine my how worried I was that it was going to happen again. I'm still wearing the micro links, so I'll give a followup review after a month or so. I'm so glad this place exist and I will be going back and referring new clients because I get compliments on my hair all the time both natural and extensions.

0/10. Bad service, you can book with one person but a different person will do your hair. I went to the salon on two occasions, the first encounter was decent because Ms. Kim (usually at Pennsylvania location) did my hair and she’s a sweetheart. Second encounter a young lady did my hair.. I waited at least 2 hours to get serviced (if not more and I made an appointment online). The young lady stated she wasn’t familiar doing natural hair but was asked by her colleagues could she do my hair, so she did. When I left the salon I was in disbelief because I solely wanted to support my fellow black people but the unprofessionalism is ridiculous. To top it off, my friend recently went there despite me telling her about my experiences and was also disappointed. She made an appointment online, waited for 5 hours to get serviced and ended up leaving unhappy. In conclusion, the salon has potential but employees aren’t doing their due diligence. Will leave the salon unsatisfied, burnt scalp, and looking like your hair wasn’t even done. Some pointers will be properly scheduling but most importantly time management.

I believe Yae is passionate about what she does but she tries to schedule everybody but doesn’t have enough staff to do all these people. Yes I have gotten my hair done here before & I like the results. I called Yae Hair care 1/12 to make an appointment for silk press. I asked what she had available 1/14 she says just text me your name & time you want to come I’ll put you on the books. She also says we’re not that busy this weekend we can get you done. I get off the phone & text her immediately 5 seconds later my name & preferred time. She never responded. Reg flag. #1 now it’s 1/14 I show up at my “scheduled” time & she looks all confused asking do I have an appointment. I say well I texted you as instructed. Then she says can you come back tomorrow we’re done for the day. Hours says you close at six.. anyways I just left. It’s my bday tomorrow wanted to get my hair done but w/e

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! My friend had a horrible experience here. First off her micro links cost $550 (which was 10 inches) when the site stated $450. Second, they started slipping within 3 days and to have them tighten was another $350. All this money was spent within a month time frame. These two appointments were done by Yae the shop owner. When she booked to have them taken out with Ty (Tiquasha) she waited for 3 hours. Unfortunately Ty claimed she was on the way and stopped all communication while she was still waiting in the parking. Yae ended up taking them out for her and still charged her $25. As the shop owner she should have handled her worker and at least not charged her after waiting 3 hours. In conclusion not only is the place unprofessional but they are also over charging. I say change the name to NAYHAIRCARE.

I started with Yae in the Winter of 2021. I was on the hunt for a natural stylist with talented hands in Charlotte. I watched her on Instagram for a few months before consulting her. I finally gave her a chance. On my initial consultation, I told her my goals, which were no perms and I want to see growing healthy natural long hair with life, body, and thickness. I had hair damage from previous hairstylists due to weave styles, using wrong hair products for my hair, and silk presses done wrong, all done without proper preparation of the hair). The take away is that I understand MY hair more and what it takes to grow healthier hair thanks to Yae. I receive soooooo many compliments from everyone, even the guys at work. I cant say enough. Thank you for listening and creating the natural hair life I so desired for years.

Appointment was at 9:30. Didn’t get my hair washed until 10:50. Had to wait again, got hair blow dried around 12, had to wait again. got hair straightened around 1. Mind you everything done so far is not done by the person I booked with. Around 1:30 was finally in the chair of the person I booked with, she didn’t greet me & was on her phone and had me sitting waiting for a minimum of 10 minutes. Didn’t ask what I wanted, I had to tell her & she didn’t say anything else. She did a “trim” curled my hair & put me under the dryer. I did not leave the salon until after 2pm. She was sure to seem nicer when it came time to pay. My roots were back to their natural state the next day. Definitely not worth the price or almost 5 hours for a simple silk press that did not last.

Do NOT I repeat Do NOT ever go to Yae .This stylist has the worst customer service I waited for hours with and appointment and still pawn me off to someone else to do my hair even though I had a scheduled appointment with her . My niece came to get her hair done drove over a hour for her services for her to say that she couldn’t do her hair because it had oil in it . Meanwhile her mother call and asked how to prep her hair it was detangle with conditioner as she was told . She also attempted to charge this 9 year old little girl with above shoulder length hair $150 for a blow out when the price is $75 . She is a complete scam and everyone should report her to the better business bureau and cosmetology board because I sure am !

DO NOT BOOK HERE! Very unprofessional. They will have you sit here a full day even with an appt. This shop is run very poorly and it’s so unorganized. I sat around all day just to get my hair done. Tried the tape ins and after sitting around all day, my install was rushed. Paid a lot of money for the tape in to not even be good and they only lasted a week before sliding out. Some were buckled at the roots and all. I came back a second time for a different service and experienced the same thing. Long waits for a morning appt and not being styled until later in the afternoon. So glad I found another salon for my hair care needs because I will never step foot in Yae’s shop again.

Yae has always done right by me and I value her expertise in hair! I’ve had great experience with her microbraids in the past, absolutely loved them! She has been the only person I have found that can get my hair the color red that I like and couldn’t recommend her more! We all run late from time to time, but I have always been taken care of well and will always go to Yae for all my hair care wants and needs! She truly listens to what you want, and sometimes it takes a process to get the desired results as with any stylist! But she goes above and beyond and makes sure you’re in professional hands and she knows what she’s doing and then some!

My daughter was the one that came to you today. There was NOTHING wrong with her hair and for you try and make a child feel bad about her hair is Disgusting! You claim you specialize in all textures (per your website) but you couldn’t do a 9 year old girl hair that was clearly detangled (NOT matted per your previous response). You just didn’t feel like doing it and the price went from 75 to 150 so I would leave, which is exactly what I did. My daughter was disappointed but I let her know there are professional stylists out there that respect ALL their customers and will do what they advertise.

I normally do not write reviews but today I walked into a wonderful salon atmosphere and greeted by wonderful and amazing Stylist and owner Yae and her staff are truly a blessing. They are kind hearted and care about their clients and the hair care they provide .I was planning a trip and it was last minute and out off the kindness of her heart Yae fit me into her busy schedule and made me look more beautiful than I could ever imagine. Thank you so much Yae . I just found my new stylist. If you are looking for an amazing atmosphere and an amazing look please make this salon your first stop.

She does good work but no respect for her clients. I had an appointment at 9 o’clock. She shows up at 9:30. Came another time she rescheduled me two times for hair color that I showed her a pic of what I wanted before even coming in and she kept sayin she didn’t have time to do it. I ended up just having my hair removed and found a new stylist. Then against my better judgement I ordered hair from her online. Haven’t heard anything for two weeks now I’ve emailed three times and still haven’t heard anything. I want my money back !

What can I say, Yae made me feel good about myself today, my hair is falling out, it’s been thinning for years, I stopped wearing weave for 4 yrs but my hair continues to thin, So I went to Yae to ask her to do a sew- in, she looked at my hair and stated I needed to have mirco links, she did a fantastic job, it looks just like my hair, what I like most is that she didn’t make it overly thick since my hair is very fine. I absolutely love this salon. I went this past Sunday, Feb 5, and it was such a warm atmosphere. Yae is the absolutely sweetest and she KNOWS HAIR!! Every stylist in there is well trained. Yae is the TRUTH! She does her thing everytime I come to her. Yesterday, I was a squeeze in and I have a lot of 4c hair that needed some TLC, she stayed in the salon taking care of all her customers AND me! She did not leave until 12am. She is a hardworking and dedicated hair stylist. I appreciate all she does for her clients and my hair. If you want someone who genuinely cares, knows how to do and grow hair, and creates an experience while you get your new do, Yae is your person!

I came in thinking my hair was damaged beyond repair, but once I received my wash, treatment, and silk press I left feeling like Beyoncé. You know when her hair be blowing on stage. Yeah that’s me. Lol. But Yae, is amazing. She’s very professional and talented. I appreciate a stylist who pays attention to your hair needs. I’ve finally found my one healthy hair stylist in Charlotte. I came to YaeHairCare after combing out my locs. My first visit Yae ended up having an emergency and had to suddenly leave but her staff took care of me. Bri was very sweet and handled the situation very professionally and I loved my hair. I went back for a second visit and actually was able to have my appointment with Yae. My experience was great and my hair is AMAZING!!! She truly is very talented and I look forward to my future appointments.

The service was Great!! She came in early at 7:30am. I appreciate that. The atmosphere is so comfortable and pretty. She shampooed my hair so good, it felt amazing. Trimmed ends n silk pressed. She gave good advice on how to take care of my daughter hair. I will be making this salon my new GO TO!! It has been hard since im new to town. I drove 1hr just be be sitting and waiting around for the owner to my hair. I waited 30 minutes today text and she never even responded to me. It took an employee to call her and even then she had the employee tell me she will be their in 20 minutes. Lack communication, unprofessional and no sense of time management. I've had nothing but bad luck with these new age Instagram stylist. Don't waste your time going here.

I love yae. The energy in her salon and all her stylist is amazing. Reminds me of my childhood salon. I can walk-in anyday and come out with a fresh style I always walk in for blow drys and trims and even as a walk in with full house they get me in and out and take care of my hair and her extensions are bomb. Best I’ll service salon in Charlotte with good prices and efficiency.

I visited the salon to get my first Sew-In and let me tell you, I am obsessed with my hair! It turned out exactly how I hoped it would. The hair is great quality and the highlights exceeded my expectations. The owner made me feel very comfortable and I had a great experience. I will definitely be back!

I booked a same day walk in appt the day after having another hairstylist at another salon cancel on me before a grad shoot. They were very accommodating dyed my hair in the exact way i wanted without bleach and gave me one of the flattest traditional sew ins I’ve had in a while. Yae and Bri are great

Easy to make a hair appointment via the website and I was thankful to get a same day appointment. They do offer walk-ins but be mindful someone might be in the chair . Only negative is no heat protectant was applied to the hair when blow drying and straightening. Happy with my hair otherwise
