I personally want Imre S to be recognized for his patience, great service, compassion and understanding. He went above and beyond to ensure I felt heard and comfortable with everything we discussed. Not once did I feel rushed, pushed and like he was trying to "make a sale". We were preplanning and I had attempted with a couple of others but never took the plunge. The others felt like "a sale" nothing personal, no compassion, rushed, almost forced. Imre service was excellent! It wasn't a one day affair, as I came back a few times to look at examples he provided, went through my concerns, just made sure that I was completely comfortable with the whole process. Amazing young gentleman, professional but with a heart and soul. This is the kind of individual you want to have in these tough times and situations. It's already uncomfortable to make the decision to preplan and even harder for those who are grieving a loss. These are the kind of people that should be employed within an organization as such and highly recognized for the outstanding services. The Mount Pleasant Group is lucky to have such an individual working for them. Highly recommend this gentleman! If you want someone that is caring, compassionate, a professional with a heart and soul and who will ensure that he answers all of your questions, ask for Imre.
A huge and heartfelt “Thank-You” to the staff at York Cemetery and Funeral Home; especially to Imre Szabo (Funeral Director) who went above and beyond in his duties and took such good care of our family during a difficult time. Imre was professional, knowledgeable, patient, kind and fun. Our family had planned a joyful, contemporary, and God-centred celebration for our mother starting with the morning burial, the afternoon service, and ending with a relaxed and casual reception. Imre and the additional staff involved in assisting us, went out of their way to meet all our requests. Again, “Thank- You”. The building on the grounds where we held our mother’s service and reception was bright, classy, and cheerful; one of the nicest I have personally been in. The property is well kept and park-like. The location is easy to find and there is plenty of parking
York Cemetery is a cemetery located in the city of York, England. Founded in 1837, it now encompasses 24 acres (97,000 m2) and is owned and administered by The York Cemetery Trust with support of the Friends of York Cemetery. It is situated on Cemetery Road in the Fishergate area of York. It has approximately 28,000 graves and over 17,000 monuments, six of which are Grade II-listed. The chapel is a Grade II* listed building, while the gatehouse, gate and railings are Grade II. The architect of these buildings and the grounds was James Pigott Pritchett.
We laid my mother to rest this year. The section her and my father are buried has to be the most peaceful, tranquil places. I love how you have made a cemetery be a place that is welcoming. The water features, the beautiful old trees are perfect! As a child we used to always venture into the cemetery to investigate the war tanks and of course visit the green house. Beautiful grounds and the staff were so helpful. We wanted a quiet time to intern Mum and we got just that. Thank you to everyone involved for making the day flawless!!
My mom is buried here in 2017. They maintain very well but the only thing is that We put flowers and is missing. Last year I bought flowers for my mom's anniversary and a week after one of the plant was disappeared. for her birthday I got beautiful flower someone stole it. this is very sad to see someone steal from the grave. I don't think whoever took it they can call themselves human .I complained to the office and they told me sadly they know but they cannot do anything.
York Cemetery is a truly magnificent ,tranquil place with stunning landscaping and devoted and caring staff. My special thanks to Mr.Peter Summers for expeditiously resolving a problem with compassion, care, and far beyond our expectations . We are very grateful and thank him from the bottom of our hearts. The Cemetery should be proud to have this very special men on their team. I would like to thank Mrs.Elizabeth Cunningham as well for her warmth and understanding.
a very lovely place. probably the best (and most peaceful) time to visit is in the late afternoon/evening and weekends, as during business hours lots of work it can be a bit noisy (grass cutting, and some construction). As an Eastern European I was very moved to discover many graves of people from that part of the world (Ukraine, Latvia, etc). I only wish there were more benches (especially in shaded spots). I very nice place to go for a walk and/or explore.
After consulting with Peter Summers of ground maintenance and explaining our concerns to the grounds, he was very empathetic and understanding. He immediately spent the time with me going through each issue and I left satisfied knowing we were in good hands. I appreciate the very different nuances that go with this role and he understood ours. I want to thank Peter for his understanding and his actions to rectify the situation. Thank you Peter.!!
Great location but constant delays and broken promises when it comes to delivering services such as inscription which is paid up front and it takes about 4 months during the summer to get their supplier to come out to put a date on an existing grave marker. Ask yourself why a cemetery would continue to use only one supplier when that supplier takes months longer than others, doesn't delivery per agreed upon deadlines and charges more!
York cemetery is a very peaceful and beautiful place. We had my father's funeral on Sep 9, 2023, all organized by Dan, and Jennifer in less than 24 hours. Everything went very smoothly without a single mistake from making the casket and preparing my father, to ordering food and flowers, coordination with officiant (Terri) and pallbearers, moving the flowers from the room to the grave, etc. Well done! God bless them all!
A beautiful cemetery & well taken care of plus nicely landscaped. NOW would be a GREAT idea to put out at least TWO Portable Toilets to allow anyone, but esp. older people visiting their loved ones to be able to use them as the washrooms in the office are STILL closed off. I am disappointed that this had NOT been done yet!!! I'm sure the organization can afford to do this!! JUST DO IT!!!
I buried my late mother’s ashes in a memorial bench at York. York did not seal the tomb wall properly. There is a large hole, where bugs and debris have been entering. It’s been two months.. and I have not heard back with a resolution after raising a request to seal the wall. Disgraceful to see this level of maintenance and care for a place that is my late mother’s resting place.
A perfect place to blend in with the nature. You can take a walk, jog, cycle, sit or do light exercise here. This place gives such spiritual vibes I am in awe of it. I try to visit here as many times as possible. Although I don't know anyone who rest in peace at this cemetery but to walk through their grave make me silently pray for them and their family.
We recently bought a plot at the cemetery. Mary Wong at the cemetery helped us to complete the deal. Thorough the process she have worked tirelessly and professionally. It is not surprising that she is a platinum member of the president's club. She deserves it. Thank you Mary. We will seek your help again when we are ready to do our pre-planning .
I started going inside the cemetery about 3 weeks ago and kept visiting ever since. Visiting the various memorials, admiring the atmosphere and having a sort of calm and peaceful feeling whenever I visit.. It really is beautiful and I really wish I visited this place earlier for how long I have been living around the neighborhood.
Arrangements can be overwhelming and a lot to consider — for us we had an incredible experience with Noddy who we can’t recommend enough. Very knowledgeable about the space and thoughtful in the way she presents different options to you. Most importantly she is not at all pushy unlike some other reps can be. Thanks so much Noddy!
York Cemetery which opened in 1948 and is full of colourful flower arrangements, unique architecture/sculptures and offers a beautiful walking path. Something about this place is super peaceful and at the same time quite a popular walkway in the neighbourhood. A great place to walk and I love how expansive it is!
A sincere thank you to Imre Szabo, who organised my father's funeral last week. He was professional, attentive to detail, answered emails quickly including during his time off, and made significant accommodation requests. The whole process was as stressless as possible, and the room was lovely.
Beautiful place. I enjoyed almost daily walks in this peaceful “garden”. Once I was caught up in rain and the grounds keepers spotted me and offered the ride to the main building. Thank you so much. It speaks highly of the professionalism one can expect here, either in this life or the next.
Thank you for keeping my dads grave neat and tidy! You have some amazing staff members who take care of there clients and ensure that everything is done right the first time. My dad was buried in 2000 and we have no complaints what so ever Peace and love be with your staff members
My sincere thanks to Ali for the amazing job she did during all the three days I had the pleasure to interact with her. Her professionalism, punctuality, work ethics, respect and compassion was beyond my expectations. People like her this world needs more.
Thank you to Emmeline and Vivian and the team at the York Funeral home. Very caring team with immaculate attention to detail and timely followups. Took care of us when we needed it the most. Your professional and empathetic support was greatly appreciated.
Rest, reflect and walk the grounds. Spend some time with loved ones and fallen brothers in arms. A memorial for Canadian troops with World War 2 era equipment present as well. 15 minutes from North York TTC Station and parking options available.
Credit should be given where credit is due. The utmost professional and dignified place and service. Thank you so much for honouring my Mom in this manner. She would have loved it. Now I know why she chose this as her final resting place.
Our family is just dying to come here and finally had a chance today. We buried my father this morning and it was so peaceful. Thanks to Wendy S. for the arrangement and to Daisy who supervised the service.
The staff at York Cemetery were exceptionally kind and helpful. (Daniel and Jennifer) They made the experience as pleasant as it possibly could have been and we are most appreciative.
My mom is buried there since 2009 and it's very well kept, clean and peaceful. I'm positive my dear mom is resting in peace there with our other family members.
The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. From a 'non-customer' who enjoys riding through the cemetery, there are many interesting locations within.
Beautiful, well maintained garden. Can’t believe a peaceful place like this exist so close to busy Yonge street with all the activities and traffic
Great place for a stress relieving morning or evening walk. Very well maintained with beautiful plants and trees as well as water bodies.
York cemetery provides a detailed and caring service. I dealt with Wendy, Vivian, and Jennifer and they were all exceptional.
a very lovely place. probably the best (and most peaceful) time to visit is in the late afternoon/evening and weekends,
