We were with Yorkshire Vets some years ago and they were great. However, our recent experience just isn’t the same. I’m unsure if they’re now part of a larger group given all the sites available. But, the personal touch is none existent I’m afraid. You can never seem to book an appointment with my local branch (Morley) as they never seem to have any appointments available. I was informed by reception that this is due to having only one vet available. I travelled to Thornbury (not for the first time due to lack of appointment availability at Morley). I’m sorry to say the vet I saw was awful. He was so condescending indeed and had clearly failed to read the notes for my dogs ongoing issue since February. He kept suggesting things we’d already tried and paid for each time I might add. I’m my opinion he failed to examine my dog properly. Merely prescribed steroids yet again despite me showing him showing new symptoms. Sadly after circa 8 months, we’d spent a fortune, saw what felt a different vet upon every visit and simply weren’t getting anywhere after, so we moved vets.

THEIVES! Brought a grey kitten in on evening of 24.8.23 got transferred over to thornbury vets, was told I can collect the kitten on Friday 1.9.23 phoned yesterday was told they gave it to the RSPCA phoned RSPCA after 30 mins on phone to RSPCA was told they have not had ANY kitten from the BD3 branch. Phoned them back said they gave it to RSPCA asked for log number did not have one. Phoned again today was told they were unaware of what I was talking about, asked surely all calls are recorded a so called supervisor phoned me back to say the VET nurse has taken the kitten home and has decided SHE WANTS TO KEEP IT?!!! Then was told “it wasn’t your kitten anyway” and was told “we never said you can collect on Friday” also told today the cat is very very poorly but when I phoned on Saturday was told he’s doing well! I have all the phone call logs saved on my phone. These people are absolute LIARS! Disgusting service I have been in touch with a legal team and will be suing this vets and for anyone who thinks I have no credibility I am a registered nurse working for the NHS.

I found a bird in my back garden. It just stood there and didn't move. It let me stroke it. This wasn't right, it wasn't interested in the bread seeds or water i offered it. I called RSPCA and they suggested to call my local vet. Therefore i took the bird here. The staff here took the bird and got me to sign a form for wildlife welfare. I asked if i could call to see how the bird got on. I called shortly after to see how birdie was and the receptionist lady i spoke to wasn't very helpful and said call back after 8pm. I called back after 8 and a did speak to someone helpful, i think she was a Chinese lady. She explained the bird was a young bird and may have been nestling in the grass. It had been flapping its wings but mainly just stood there without movement. The were going to keep an eye on it and hopefully set it free if it made good progress. I suggested i put it back where i found it but never heard back. I'm sure the vets will have given great care and done the best for the bird.

I don't normally post reviews but my experience with my cat here was really bad. I ended up bringing her in 5 times in total, with each vet telling me something different.. One in particular was extremely rude and dismissive, saying there is nothing wrong with her, even though I was showing him videos of her gasping for air and retching. She had tests after me pushing and has a large and potentially cancerous mass at the back of her nose. Even the tests I am having to have re-done at a referrral clinic as they were not thorough enough, and I've already almost maxed out my insurance. Honestly a nightmare and really distressing experience for me and my cat, a lot of time was wasted with her becoming more and more ill.

We have used the Yorkshire vets a little closer to home when my dog was well or needed yearly check ups and they where always amazing. Recently my dog hasn't been well and the way everyone was, they were amazing. Compassionate and caring and they made sure my dog was OK. Just had to put my 13 Yr old dog to sleep recently, was such a traumatic experience for me personally, but from the vet to the nurse to the receptionists (a man and a woman) didn't get their names but everyone was amazing. I couldn't fault anything they did. They were totally understanding of the situation and this was one of the hardest things I've had to do.

I’ve been taking all my pets to Yorkshire Vets for years. Always professional, friendly with ‘can’t do enough for you’ people - from the lovely receptionist ladies to all vets and nursing staff. There is sufficient parking, waiting area is split with quieter space for cats, consulting rooms are nice and clean. I had the privilege of seeing the back of the clinic - particularly where the cats are kept - and it truly is a lovely, warm, clean, quiet place - each cat enclosure is very large and made up lovely for each cat (bed, toys, etc etc). Cats looked very comfortable in there! 5 stars for sure and highly recommended

A service/relationship between a pet owner and the vet must be founded on the basis of mutual trust and confidence. It is very clear there is no such trust and confidence after the way how the Vet from Horsforth treated our pet and notably how the management at Thornbury hospital handeled the situation. The Vet I believe named James showed no empathy, not been treated with basic understanding and genuine caring. Staff member one in particular was extremely rude and dismissive. A massive decline in professionalism as many people say. Yorkshire vets are one of those that have let themselves down.

Really great atmosphere, reception staff are friendly and helpful, and the vets are knowledgeable, experienced and caring. I've been with them over 10 years with our tribe of rescue cats and they've helped me through some of the highs (Odin, who wasn't expected to survive 24 hours as a kitten with severe cat flu, is now 7 years old and flourishing) and lows (saying goodbye is never easy) with understanding, respect and compassion.

I was sent here out of hours as my beloved Diesel was ill. Unfortunately there was nothing they could do and he was pts. We were treated lovely by the staff, nothing was too much trouble. Diesel was made a fuss off before he passed, we were allowed to be with him to say our goodbyes. For the way we were looked after until we left the staff deserve 5 stars especially the pregnant vet who looked after Diesel and us.

Saw an ophthalmologist here for my Chihuahua, Titan, who had a very bad eye ulcer and needed surgery. The team were all fantastic, during what was a very stressful and upsetting time. They bent over backwards to accommodate some last minute appointments for us, after my usual vet was unable to do anymore for his eye. He made a full recovery and is doing fantastic.

Always greeted with a friendly welcome, there are probably cheaper vets around, but I’m always confident Buddy receives the best care possible. Unfortunately we have had a lot of visits over the past year, but I have always been reassured by the friendly staff and the quality of care they give. Not seen one vet who doesn’t approach my dog as if he was their own

I don't own a pet, nor do I particularly like animals. (I've been helping a relative to resolve some billing issues). The warmth and understanding shown by Yorkshire Vets staff at the Thornbury branch is quite outstanding. You can tell that providing peace of mind really matters to folks who work here. Lovely. Almost makes me want to have a sick pet of my own.

It was my neighbour who asked me if I could give her a lift to the vet but the ones jn Horsforth were booked up ,took her to Thornbury an appointment been arranged I did not go in though and out again less then half hour they did not have the medication need for her cat had to go to the vet at Horsforth, got me out of the house for a while pleased about that

First pet and appointment, service was brilliant I felt so reassured and happier that my cat will get better. All staff were so welcoming and understanding. I hope to be back soon for the vaccination. I recommended it to friends and family as they offer fantastic plans that work out cheaper in the long run.

Received excellent service and care from surgeon Jennifer Halas for our cat. Have seen vets before, however she was informative, succinct and gave us valued advice and options. We would definitely recommend her to our friends and family. Thank you Jennifer

Lovely staff. Caring and helpful. The door to the practice needs sorting out, it is really difficult to open, very heavy, not good if you are disabled. I also think they need to make it mandatory for non friendly dogs to wear a muzzle. Would recommend.

I have used the Yorkshire Vets for my pets for many years and have always been satisfied with them. I trust them which is a big thing to me now that I cannot get there myself anymore and I have recommended them to others over the years.

  • Shirley Linton

Have dealt with these Vets for many years with my 5 dogs and never ever found them other than excellent. Their veterinary care has been superb and all the vets, nurses and reception staff are helpful and friendly. Couldn't be better.

  • Salma Parveen

Our dog became quite poorly with an infection. She spent 2 nights in the hospital. The staff were fantastic, always keeping us updated. She made a full recovery and I am so grateful for the care she recieved.

Exceptional service from the veterinary nurse today at Meanwood. She listened carefully, gave clear advice and was kind in the way she looked after our cat Chess.
