This is a really incredible venue, hosting some of my favourite nights with events like No Alternative and Tyranny. Although it appears small at first, the bar can pack a load of people, providing a really awesome dancefloor with great people all around you. The nights I went were music nights and the music was bloody awesome! The staff here are really great, typically blending in with the crowd and coming up for a dance whenever they can. The service here is fantastic, they are really friendly folk. If you want somewhere with a bit of community and music and events you wouldn't usually be exposed to in the rest of Bristol, you've come to the right place.

This is a hidden gem in the heart of Bristol. Home to a selection of great alternative clubs, Tyranny,No Alternative and Electric Barbarella. Friendly crowd at all clubs. Always get served quickly at the bar and the prices are great. Small but always clean loos, and the little touches are great. Friendly staff and also outside is great for taking photos on the old steep steps. And they sell crisps if you get peckish. Closes at 2am and the clubs tend to sell out.

Wheelchair accessibility
We do have a few people with Mobility issues and there is always help to get them over the small step. But do take it easy on the outside pavement. Taxis can drop off outside the venue.

Went for a free comedy show on a Tuesday evening, had a genuinely great time. I'm assuming it's nice on other nights as well! You never know what to expect on a free comedy show, but all the acts were really good, and the crowd seemed to be a good bunch. Everyone came to have a good time, not to heckle. Beers are good, there's a good variety on tap and in their fridges, and prices were quite reasonable considering its the centre of Bristol. Staff were really friendly! It's not a large venue by any means, but it's well worth checking out. There was a fair bit of seating inside, and I think air-conditioning of some kind? Also, toilets were surprisingly good for a little underground venue of that size.

We had my husband’s 50th birthday party at Zed Alley last night and it was the best venue we could have chosen. The location is amazing, the size was perfect - intimate but still spacious enough for groups to sit and chat, stand and chat or dance. The bar staff were amazing - lovely and very helpful. A good choice of drinks that were reasonably priced. It was extremely clean and fresh smelling (toilets too) and communication with Gemma was excellent. She was quick to respond to all of our questions. The overall hire price was reasonable too. We will definitely be back if we have another big party! Thanks all.

Love this venue. I'd been to several live music and cabaret events at Zed Alley and it's a very cool but intimate and inclusive venue with lovely staff. So I decided to hire it for a Significant Birthday party: a huge success! Brian and Gemma were so helpful and even provided some of the decorations so it looked really festive. Brian helped me and my dj set up the sound and lights. The bar was well stocked and all the facilities spotless. Although the capacity is about 140, it doesn't feel empty even with half that number of guests. Perfect night! Thank you!

I came to Zed for the first time to see a battle of the bands, supporting the band Blue Crow who I've seen before at the fleece, one of the main Bristol venues. Despite this place being really new and a fair bit smaller, I'd honestly say the sound was mixed way more professionally, volume levels were way better and it made listening to Blue Crow even more enjoyable! Acoustics were great and there's already a great alt scene present, the selection of bands were awesome and the staff were lovely! Tidy little venue!

Great venue and amazing music, unfortunately I couldn't justify the way in which their doorman spoke to the other customers. I found his manner that of someone who is on a power trip and aggressive. As a paying customer I found his attitude uncomfortable and left shortly after watching this multiple times. I don't believe swearing and getting in people's faces is appropriate.

Very central location pub. Good for rock live bands. Eventually some reggae music however, it is not good for dancing styles because the floor is angled and to be fair, a bit dangerous. Drinks are fine, prices are fair. To any end, recommend it. A hidden spot among the great Bristol.

I enjoyed the event at Zed alley, Thank you Chris to organize all, really very managed, from the beginning to the end, welcoming and interacting with everyone. You did awesome! Thanks Sergio *No pictures because I was there for the first time and felt like at home, picture next time

Decent live venue . Good sound and friendly bar staff. Definitely recommend it . The only drawback is if you're a smoker. 2 flights of stairs , navigate through a packed dancefloor and bar , just to get outside for a ciggie. Still a really good venue though .

Went for Electric Barbarella -Great club night. Free to get in. Drinks reasonable. Staff all friendly. Toilets clean. It's not too loud so you can talk if you want to but loud enough for dancing. Had a great evening dancing. Look forward to the next one.

  • Cole Wilson

Staff really helpful and approachable, venue itself is kept really clean and good bathrooms. For a club night the music isn't going to give you tinnitus in the morning but still loud enough for a good atmosphere :)

Great venue (underneath the Sportsman pub) with friendly staff and reasonable alcohol prices. Would recommend the Electric Barbarella night if you're into alternative 80s. Oh, and it's free!!!

  • Jaga Wilk

I'm there on almost every Tyranny party. Small place, but nice and friendly with really nice bartenders. Even when they busy - waiting for drink tooks just few minutes! And prices are good.

It was my first night at Zed Alley tonight and what an awesome place, seeing my friends play their songs with passion. You can't beat. What are you waiting for, get down there!!

  • Tim Curtis

Rather trendy underground club/bar. Have to go through the Sportsman to get in which is a bit of a contrast but once in there it's a great space with reasonably priced beer.
