"French onion soup was full of ranch croutons"
"This is a rare review for airport food"
I highly recommend this place if you want a nice meal that is not airport cheap food or fast food. First of all, I love this French chain with amazing gourmet food and have eaten at the Houston location many times. This is excellent cuisine, not food. You cannot reasonably complain about their prices if you want cheap food. This is not cheap food. If you want fast food pay for it by eating at the McDonalds next to La Madeleine, would be my recommendation, as this is French food and well worth the price. I had the smoked ham and swiss with garlic cream sauce sandwich (Croque Monsieur) to which I added blackberry jam to (making it similar to a Monte Crisco sandwhich) and enjoyed it immensely. The staff were quick and pleasant with my order and the food was delicious. I had their little Sacher Torte 3 layer cocolate cake, soaked in vanilla and with raspberry jam inside and topped with chocolate mousse and ganache and the famous candy emblem, which you can see in my photos and ooh la la! Look at my photo for the serious thickness and weight to that cake! Amazing! The old adage, you get what you pay for, rings true here. I chose to sit down and have a beautiful experience and not inhale a burger for a change. Yes, it's an airport restaurant, but not this food. I felt very happy to have indulged in French food before the final leg of my long, tedious, holiday journey and was glad to have a tummy full of yum when I boarded, so I didn't have to pay for a 15 dollar sandwhich and bag of chips on board. Indulge is the word for French cuisine. This was glorious.
They stay open till 10pm. When everything else closes at 8ish. Which is convenient it it is a long walk from d gates but it worth it when it the only thing open and serves coffee and hot sandwiches. This is the only place that gives you a bag of chips or fruit with your sandwiches. One of the mangers named Hal is extremely helpful I recommend this restaurant to a tons of southwest customers when every other restaurant is closing down and chasing customers away. This is the place to go. I work at Airport. I get upset when restaurant closed just due lack of employees. I always recommend this one it is a bit of a walk but once arrived it totally worth it. (I could get fired lol). I get the big thanks when they come back to the C or D gates to tell me thank. I am not trying to promote this restaurant and not turning no one away. I just wanted to say thank you for being open for families and travelers to get a last minute hot sandwich.

Charged for food, waited for it, they said they didn’t have the food and refused to fully refund. Gave a 15% tip too! Service was worthless Response to owner: Our ticket was #3408 and we ordered just before 7:00PM on 3/14/22. The cashier asked someone to come over who refunded our two pizza slices (they never had pizza to sell was the story) and took my receipt. If we hadn't overheard the kitchen telling this to the front of house, I'm sure we would have been waiting a lot longer for the food. This person, presumably a manager, then went back to serving sandwiches as the cashier paid me out $13 cash, which didn't include the tip. Why couldn't the CC transaction just be voided/refunded? That's how it works everywhere else. The cashier apologized and said he couldn't understand what was going on. I still don't understand why it was so hard, but I will always remember the horrible experience we had at your restaurant.
French onion soup was full of ranch croutons... not aka Madeline standard. Resulting in no actual soup. They use the same ranch croutons you get at a grocery store in their Cesar salad. Gave me a toasted chicken salad croissant which I thought was weird. I asked for a non toasted. It all made sense later - the croissants are stale because they are so old. The cookies were also crumbling because they are stale. The one star is for the iced tea- that was at least on par with La Madeline quality standard. In closing, don’t run to this location and barely make your flight in hopes to eat La Madeline. This place is so not the same standard, quality or even same ingredients. Not worth the 50% inflated airport costs or calories. Would be interested in seeing their rating- no way the old food passes quality to serve to customers.
This is a rare review for airport food. In fact, it was “good.” Nothing wrong, but it’s rather hard to mess up bacon and eggs. This review, instead, is about friendly service received from “Mark” at the counter. It’s 6am. He’s probably been here since 3am or so- but you’d never know it. Mark greeted everyone he saw with a “Good morning, sir!”’(or ma’am) and a smile. He asked me where I was going, how my day was, and if I was coming back to Phoenix. He actually took the extra moment to bring my food to me rather than set it on the counter and while doing so gave a couple of unruly kids a piece of candy to quiet them down. It is sad how rare service and an attitude like this are, but it was pleasant for this weekly traveler to see. Kudos, Mark. You’re a rare bird.
I went to la Madeleine near Gate B22 at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and bought one regular-sized bottle of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. There were no prices listed anywhere for the various beers. The nice server opened the beer for me and ONLY THEN TOLD ME that THE PRICE FOR ONE BOTTLE WAS $10.38! I refused to buy it and told him that the company could open three bottles, not sell them, and still make money. It's bad enough to think you can get away with charging that much, but then to have the gall not to list the price! I doubt that they will change. Perhaps other people will decide to have fun, order a beer and then refuse to be scalped until the company decides to be more honest and not try to rip off the customer by not listing the price.
The food is delicious, that's for certain. However the service line lacks efficiency. My meal was literally taken out of my hands & given to another patron, as they hadn't finished serving the lady in front of me before moving on. I didn't mind waiting for my food, but knew to stay at the counter. Because when the new batch came out, the cashiers were already trying to serve them to new customers prior to fulfilling those of who were waiting.

Stopped in for a quick bite (croque monsieur and quiche) during a layover. Service was quick and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Our girls have nut allergies and they went out of their way to check packaging and confirm that the chocolate croissant was safe. Guy, in particular, was super helpful and friendly!

I had a delayed flight and went to scope for dinner food areas around my gate. I spotted La Madeleine and got their omelet. I ordered tomatoes, red bell peppers, grilled onions, and mushrooms in the omelet and -oh my goodness!!- it was the best omelet I’ve ever had!!! It came with a croissant as well. I loved the food and had excellent service. Our waitress even got our plastic ware that we could have easily walked a few feet to get; she didn’t have to do that for us. I added it as a favorite location in GoogleMaps. Definitely recommend and will continue going!
Near gate B22. The staff member originally ringing us up left the register and never came back. Another staff member ended up helping us, but was confused about what happened. The fourth member of our party had to wait an extra 20 minutes for the same thing another member of our party had to eat (breakfast sandwich without bacon). My breakfast sandwich had been sitting under the heating lamp so long it was hard and crusty on one side. Note that it was not particularly busy.

They just made me wait 40 minutes and almost missed my flight for some cookies that I like to take home to my wife and they finally realized after 40 minutes of them supposedly being in the oven that they're actually completely out of the cookies. I know good help is hard to find these days but come on you really couldn't find out if you were out of cookies in 40 minutes?? Plus they weren't that busy and had 6 people working I think that's what bothered me the most. I guess I'm going to have to check this place off of my list.
Pretty decent airport breakfast. The breakfast croissant was pretty good, and the latte was tasty. $12 for both wasn't too bad of a price either. The already prepared food didn't look as appetizing, one lady already bought a salad, then after she paid for it must have read the ingredients or something and didn't want it anymore. She offered it up to other customers and after no one wanted it she handed it to the manager and walked away. It didn't look that bad, but also didn't look very healthy.
Today I went to get a single latte and this man who name was Ryan he was taking for ever to make it so I ask the short lady with red hair if she could make it so i could make my flight so she went over there to make it. He looked like he swung at her for going over there to make. The short girl was doing as I asked than he told me he had it but it took him a while because I left after that. The only reason this is getting 2 stars is because that girl was so nice and tried to help when I asked
This cafe is one of the most underrated places in Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. There was a line outside of Starbucks for coffee, and this place was not as busy, yet their iced coffee was ten times better than Starbucks for a fraction of the price. Definitely recommend coming here for quality coffee before catching your flight!

I have been to an actual restaurant of La Madeleine. So it was great to find this in my layover from LA by Gate B20. I didn't come for the food. I bought my favorite thing....coconut cake, e slices to go at $8.40 each. Yes. Super pricy. So, you have to make some hard decisions which, I did. Worth it for me. It's some good cake. Definitely recommend.

For a whopping $27, we got a small simple sandwich, salad, a small soup, and a beer. Every item was wrong. The sandwich was on the wrong bread, the onion soup was missing cheese and croutons, the caesar salad had no bacon or cheese, and they almost forgot the beer. The staff were visibly disorganized. To top it all off, we were then treated to the staff loudly arguing in front of all the patrons. I've never experienced something quite like this....don't waste your money here.
You're not getting what's listed on the menu. You're just getting a pre-packaged sandwich with a couple of ingredients missing. I ordered the turkey and provolone, thinking I was getting a fresh sandwich, and instead, I got a pre-packaged sandwich without tomatoes and without the sun-dried tomato pesto mayo. Not worth the cost nor the tip!

5$ for a swallow of apple juice? PB&J's almost 10$? Swapping dates on sandwiches and salads to fake its freshness...I have worked for these guys and they are not slick with what they are doing. Check your foods freshness ladies and gentlemen the boss man knows what he is doing and is guilty of running his business illegally. Jaimee Does handles her job properly and will help you out. Lisa and Liz Cook up a storm non-stop keep doing yall thang dizzle!
Trust me -- blow on past the McDonald's next door to this Cafe and pay a little extra for better food and friendlier staff. I ordered a breakfast croissant VERY early in the morning and was delighted with both the food and the server (Tyra). In fact the whole team at the airport La Madeleine worked their butts off (I watched them from my gate). Tyra deserves a raise!

Great coffee if you can get them to make it! I tried a peppermint mocha(so good!) when I flew into Phoenix. When I was waiting for my return flight home, I walked to a different gate just for this coffee, they opened at 6 so I waited a few mins. At 6:10 I walked up to register but the cook wasn’t paying attention and the other employee had made himself a coffee and was sitting out in the dining area ignoring me. Ended up just walking away.
Drawn in by the nice man offering free samples of the Croque sandwich. Comes with turkey or ham. Delicious!! Big portion for one person or easily shared by two. Take a stroll over to the B concourse in terminal 4. Then walk off the calories back to D. Worth the trip.

Multiple add on fees? I'm used to airport mark ups but this place is seriously nuts. Not one but two different added "convenience fees" for just a water and two croissants. Like other reviews have stated, crazy markups here. It didn't help that the croissants were burnt. Usually I love La Madeleine but will avoid this one when traveling through next time.

Quiche Lorraine - Probably the best thing I've ever eaten in an airport. The crust was buttery and flaky and the custardy part was fluffy. Yum! The employee who took our order was having a bad day but didn't take it out on us. I may or may not have gotten a free drink out of it. As I waited for our food, I noticed that several of the employees seemed to he having a bad day and there might be some tension amongst the crew... It happens.
What a pleasant surprise! Definitely not stereotypical dreary airport food. I had the french dip. For barely a little bit more money than the fast food outlets, I had a hot sandwich, with real slices of roast beef, grilled onions, a hint of horseradish, and good swiss cheese, all on a wonderful toasted ciabatta- type french roll, and hot au jus. Portion was very good. Very satisfying, but not too heavy. I very much appreciate this.
only place to grab a bite in terminal 4 PHX past 8pm on Sunday. I’m allergic to lactose and the only option was chips. One worker was incredibly kind, the rest yelled at him when he offered to remake a sandwich. I heard the same woman yelling at him again when another guest needed an accommodation. She said i TOLD YOU!!!! Not happening!! Terrible service except for this one guy. He was caring and embarrassed for their establishment
I can’t say enough about how wonderful Tyra the manager at this location is. She was so friendly and helpful. I had the best grilled cheese and tomato basil soup I’ve had in ages. After a day of travelling and not sure what I would find in terminal 4 I was delighted. Tyra is the reason why I will remember this place on my next trip and go back.

La Madeleine Cafe is my new favorite place to eat. I was there yesterday and had their salad sampler. The spinach bacon and strawberry salad is amazing. The best part is there bakery. I promise you will order more than one dessert. The service is a 10 plus and the restaurant is warm and inviting The next time im going im going to try their hot chocolate. Also download their app for great savings.
When traveling through Sky Harbor's International concourse Madeleine Country Cafe is a must try when you have a taste for pastries. They have one of the largest chocolate chip cookies I have seen packed with chocolate chips and a very good raspberry cream cheese croissant to name a few. I have had them late at night and I bet they are even better in the morning at the height of the travel rush.
Probably the worst breakfast you'll ever have. McDonald's is right next door and is a much better option. I tried out the "Country French Breakfast". Eggs are all "scrambled" which means from a carton. They come out in a giant tasteless blob, the croissant came out hard at rock at 8am, and the hash browns we burned on the outside and cold on the inside. Impressive on that last one actually.
The most disgusting omelette I have ever eaten... it was more scrambled egg made of not real eggs. The bacon was so over cooked that it was hard like wood. The bread was cold... and nobody seemed to care. Don't go to this place. The banner somewhere said Phoenix airport is the most delicious airport or something of that sort. Try this place and I'm sure you will reconsider. Horrible.
Mark was very polite and professional. I asked him a question. He went to the back and asked the cook my question. The cook started yelling at him for asking my valid question. Great job Mark for not stooping down to that level, that must of took a lot of patience. I took off one star becuase the other employee was raising her voice at Mark to point other customers could hear it.
different than most airport restaurants! the staff was amazing and very friendly. richard b was awesome. he recommended the meal i got which was the turkey croque monsieur with tomato basil soup and he wasn’t lying when he said it tasted like east coast pizza! come here if you are traveling:)

The Croque Monsieur ham and cheese and was tender, moist and delicious. What really impressed us about the restaurant was the manager name Tyra. She was attentive to our needs, and went out of her way to make sure she was serving us the very best! She really cares about her customers and the quality of the food that is served here. So glad we came to eat here today.
Fantastic food and such amazing customer service. It is so refreshing to find such helpful and friendly employees that seemed to enjoy their jobs. Tyra went out of her way to talk with us and was just a pleasure to meet. The food was just wonderful as well. I really don’t understand the bad reviews, our experience was above and beyond, especially for an airport.

The food here is DELICIOUS.. but the customer service here SUCKS!!! This is the 3rd experience I've had with curt and snappy workers at this location. The point of the issue today is: IF I am paying for my food I have the right to want it the way I want it. Who serves bacon uncooked? It looks.like.it just came out of the wrapper
Stopped by for coffee and breakfast around 5:25 am July 3, and Juan was killing it. He was the only one working the counter and did an excellent job keeping the line moving and making sure everyone got their order. He was very polite and efficient—especially for the early hour—and we were extremely happy with our service.
Line seemed like it was moving despite being busy so I decided to try it. Somehow my order got lost and multiple folks in line behind me got food before they figured out what happened to my order. So while I had plenty of time when I stopped, it was a little more rushed than I would liked when I finally got out of there.
This turned out to be a great choice. The turkey bistro was very tasty and so was the turkey croque monsieur. The service was very friendly and helpful. I would've given it 5 stars but it was really expensive. Though, for airport food it was about average priced.

I am stranded at tbis airport due to weather. Walking the floors because it’s impossible to sleep. I see people eating and making purchases here and when I walk up to make a purchase the woman turns me away. Just tops off my flight experience. Nice customer service. the Pasta Salad from their menu was awesome, their pre made sandwiches are really good compared to other places in the airport and the prices were reasonable for an airport place and the staff were really kind and patient.
We really enjoyed our breakfast here - the food was very fresh, and the desserts were wonderful. Most of all we enjoyed the service and humor of Robert, one of the waiters behind the counter. He had us at "bonjour"! …

The final product looks barely anything like the pictures they have on the menu. You can also expect a long wait time if they don't already have your order pre-made. All in all, there are better options available.
The Sandwiches are disgusting don’t eat here Response to owner. I got the hot turkey sandwich however the meat was cold , the cheese was hard and the meat tasted really salty. I felt really nauseous afterwards.
Stopped by at 4am, as it is one of the few 24 hour places in the airport, however no employees were to be found. Waited for about 10 minutes and then left as no one came to the front...and they were open.
Food was fine. Service was a mess. Disorganized and really slow, they were drowning. Fussing amongst the employees, people’s orders wrong, lots of issues. They were kinda rude when I asked about my order.
I travel enough to be considered a 'road warrior', and I have to say that la Madeleine is one of the best places I've encountered at any airport. Excellent food, and incredibly friendly and fast service.

The sandwich was good and the soup was good. I wouldn't say it would be worth a trip to the airport just for this restaurant, but for an airport food option, it was surprisingly good!

Food was delicious and reasonably priced for an airport restaurant. They have a very clear allergy guide online which makes eating there safe and enjoyable for all.
My husband and I shared the Croque Monsieur. It was FABULOUS! I couldn't believe it was made at and served in an airport. I was blown away at how delicious it was.

Turkey Bacon Pesto hot Excellent with not too much bread high in flavor ! Good fast service
Got a stomach ache right after eating their soup. Also taste 4/10.
