"Sadly we had a bad experience in The Orpington"
I have been wanting to try The Orpington for some time now, as the reviews were very good and I have to say it did not disappoint. From the moment myself and my husband walked in, the welcoming and the service was impeccable. The staff were very polite and friendly. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, with great music. And we love that it's a record shop too. The food was amazing. You can tell that the ingredients are really fresh. It was well presented and just delicious. The coffee is lovely too. I would say for what you get, the prices are reasonable. I would happily pay those prices for good quality food and excellent service all day long and that's certainly what we got from The Orpington. We can't wait to go back and try something different on the menu. We would highly recommend. And please be polite to the staff, they are lovely. We noticed a few diners who forgot their manners.

I love Eggs Benedict and the Salt beef version here blew my socks off - It was the best brunch I've had in years and put a whacking great smile on my face ... The staff are incredibly attentive without a hint of overbear ( well trained I would surmise ) and the owner is lovely and deeply passionate about his new venture - he came and sat with me for a few minutes today but dashed up to open the door for prams and say goodbye leaving customers ... After overhearing a description of the banoffee pie I decided to push the boat out for brunch ( and release belt a notch ) ... Utterly butterly home made heaven ... You know it's not the michelin starred places that change food culture in a country , it's places ( run by people ) like this ... Beyond impressed ... Oh - did I mention it has a real vinyl record store inside !! !
I had such a wonderful time going to the Orpington! I feel lucky we are locals to a place like this. The menu is a sophisticated take on classics. Everything is homemade and fresh, with an attention to detail in each dish. Music was great. Beer menu, excellent. I had a salt beef sandwich and it was perfect. We both wanted to order the whole menu and are looking forward to coming back. Scott also seems to care about his team, and that matters. To anyone saying it's a bit pricey: You get what you pay for, and that's never been more true than here. High quality, locally sourced ingredients with well thought-out menus, and a warm and personable experience.

I absolutely love this place. Great food, great coffee, great prices, friendly and helpful staff, unique atmosphere for the area and it’s got a fun addition of a record shop down the back, I love having a look through them when I’m waiting for my food. I can’t fault The Orpington, it’s the best cafe for far and wide.

I came with my baby in a pram and the staff were very accommodating and helpful.
Sadly we had a bad experience in The Orpington. Having had a recommendation we were looking forward to a Sunday breakfast. We arrived at 10am and ordered our coffee and breakfast. At 10.30 we had an apology and the was advised that our coffee would be taken off the bill. We then watched as others obviously friends and regulars arrived and were served with food before us. This really upset us and we decided to leave we told the guy making the coffee who instead of apologising started arguing how long we had been waiting. The whole experience was very upsetting, it wasn’t the time it was serving all the other tables before us.
We had a fantastic late lunch @The Orpington. Such a great atmosphere with friendly, welcoming staff. My husband had the sweetcorn fritters and I had the salt beef sandwich. They were delicious, however the salt beef was well cooked, something different and still yummy! The desserts were amazing, Amaretto affogato and bread and butter pudding, made with chocolate croissants, very good. Everything was fresh and of great quality, we can’t wait to come back with friends! My only gripe was that it was a tad on the chilly side. Thank you for having us!

What can I say other than brilliant! I first tried The Orpington just after it opened and today was my second visit (there wil be more regular visits now). Nothing has changed at all, the food is so much better than anything locally, simply delicious and Scott and his team are just so attentive and on the ball. I highly recommend the falafel sandwich, just perfect. A perfect meal served by perfect staff. You should be so proud of yourself Scott and what you have achieved. Please keep it going!

Arguably the best service in Orpington, the staff here are amazing. So friendly, welcoming, helpful and attentive. Went here with my wife and 1 year old and had a super brunch. Pancakes for me and avacado on toast for the lady. Sublime. The premises is clean, tidy and can fit decent groups. At the back is a wicked record store with an outstanding selection of artists. I spent a good few minutes flipping through just the B section. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is thoroughly enjoyable. Big plus for having unisex bathrooms with baby changing, which as a dad, makes a big difference to an outing. Kudos.
Wonderful place, the staff are attentive, professional, courteous, and caring. You will not find better cafe service, and there is a happy, easy and relaxed atmosphere - even the staff give off the feeling that they are happy to be there. The music is varied and ambient enough to provide an unintrusive background. The cafe itself is stylish, clean, and sectioned carefully to cater to multiple types of customer at once without overlap. Food and drinks are of a high quality, it may be on the pricier side for some but is worth every penny.

Came here for my Daughter’s Birthday yesterday and was so happy with the whole experience, as was my Daughter and our family. The service by Scott was amazing and we all said it was refreshing to be served by someone who had an passion for the food/drink he was recommending and advising us on. They went above and beyond for us while we were there, and made my Daughter’s Birthday memorable. I had never been there before today but would definitely go back another time! Food was delicious, especially the eggs royal thank you The Orpington!

A lovely family run restaurant and record store. Went here for breakfast. Had butternut squash on toast which comes with butterbean hummus, spinach, a roasted tomato and mushroom, then sprinkled with flaked almonds (£10.80). I added an extra side of smashed avocado as a treat (£3.70) and breakfast cocktail of espresso martini (£9.20). The hosts make you feel so welcome. Its my second time visiting and it was just as wonderful as the first. I do recommend getting their app there are great rewards available.

Our first visit to The Orpington, a delightful restaurant with a lovely vibe. As a musician I really love the idea of combining it with a record store, and the music being played was great too. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, efficient and attentive, ensuring that even during these strange times we felt completely relaxed. The food was well presented and perfectly cooked, however the choices for the evening menu were quite limited, as true pescatorians it would be great to see some fish on the menu and would certainly ensure we return.
Reserved a table and needed to. Wednesday lunchtime was busy. People wanting great tasting food, friendly servers, good jokes and explaining everything e.g. where to buy the handwash from, this is your place! We felt so welcome and ordered well. Mackerel to die for with fresh produce couldn't have asked for more. Decided on a dessert ended up eating my other halfs as well as mine! So fresh and not sickly sweet. So good 5/5! Family run, positive vibes. Will defo go back!

My partner & I came in on Saturday 1st April. I ordered Eggs royale, my partner full English. We had to wait almost 40 mins for this. When the food arrived mine looked very unappetising, hardly any hollandaise sauce & not a lot of smoked salmon. My partners wasn’t much to write home about either. The bacon was hard, he couldn’t eat it. It was not worth the money. The only reason I ate mine was the fact I was starving having waited so long.

I stumbled across this cafe/record shop while having a wander down Orpington high street. I had dropped my car off at a local garage for its MOT and took a stroll through the high street. Being a vinyl fan I couldn’t help but investigate. I wasn’t disappointed. Also, being one of those annoying people who doesn’t eat animal products I asked for something to eat to fit my diet and they were very accommodating. All in all a great experience. I shall definitely be returning when I get the opportunity.
Love being At the O First port of call as soon as I could get there from Costa Rica. I really feel this place is special. Calm peaceful even when busy, professionalisim with a personal touch. Everything is so flawless and yet you know the hard work that comes with serving people. Love you guys Thank you so much. Appreciate all that you are and all that you do.

Love this place. Great vinyl records for sale collectors editions etc. Bought one for £40! Fantastic food and Rob the Waitor ( Business Owner ? ) can't do enough for you. Highly recommended. Great ice cream and home made stuff galore. Great menus and super wines lists. Won a prize for BEST new business recently in Orpington too. Great for children and all the family. Tons of space. About 30 tables. Day menu till 5pm and evening Dinner Menu after that till closing time.Try it and see...
Always a pleasure to eat at the Orpington. Took the whole family for breakfast this week and as usual the staff go above and beyond, even going out to get extra soya milk for my wife who is lactose intolerant. And my teenage boys thoroughly enjoyed thumbing through the vinyls.

Really great addition to Orpington. Lovely place with even better food. Nice to finally have somewhere that gives you really tasty, decent value healthy (and naughty unhealthy!)non fussy food. Was so impressed. They do salads that are so good, they’re not really like salads.., such good veggie options that I went for one and I’m not veggie. Sweetcorn fritters are fab. Staff were lovely and the records are a bonus. Will be back!
Took my son for a birthday lunch with some of his toddler friends and their parents. Not the easiest crowd with toddlers on board but Scott and his team were absolutely lovely and efficient in catering for our big group. Food was delicious and atmosphere great. Took less than 15 mins to heat up starter and by the time we’d finished the main was ready. All so so tasty! Was great to have a restaurant quality meal at home and fab value as well. Well done Ash, Scott and team. We'll be ordering again very soon x

Really liked this place on the Orpington High Street. Very friendly service, great breakfast and a buzzing interior. We walked in (no booking) and even though it was busy, we were guided to a table within a few minutes. The people on the next table had ordered pancakes that looked delicious, so another visit is definitely required. Our own plates of the classic breakfast were yummy and filling.
Our first visit for breakfast here at 8am. Booking was required, very friendly welcome and sat outside on the boulevard that is Orpington High Street. Warmed us up with a hot water bottle, blanket and hot coffee. Tried the full breakfast and my wife had scrambled eggs on toast. Both delicious. Couldn't have been nicer and we will be back. Thanks for a good start to the day. Kevin and Janet
Only went in to browse at their vinyl selection. Some great LP's in there,(new and used, all for sale at competitive prices) brought back so many memories. I'll definitely go back again when I have more time for something to eat and drink as I've heard it's very nice. (open in the evenings too I'm told) All the social distance measures are in place, and the staff were very welcoming.
Wonderful food, host (Scott is a dear!), wine and tunes! We went there for brunch and had a great time. My 20 months little one loved the meatballs and pasta. We loved the The breakfast menu. Then I came back two weeks later for a date with hubby and had the an amazing meal and the best banoffee pie OF MY LIFE! Totally recommend this place. A treasure in Orpington.
We visited the Orpington for lunch after driving past quite a few times. The staff were very friendly and the food was great. A great addition to Orpington , our new regular! The record section is a great touch and we are excited to try the rest of menu!

After my breakfast visit today I come out smiling ear to ear! Not always is it about the food we eat but just the hospitality! Yes I enjoyed my breakfast but to able to sit, smile and relax in here it’s just worth 5 stars and more. Thank you for making me feel safe and comfortable because at the moment that is so important. Thank you again xx
Really nice place to eat. Food is great (I left an empty plate) and well presented. The place is spotless, and the staff excellent and friendly. The added bonus are the records. Having a vinyl addiction, one can spend ages looking through the albums. If you're in Orpington, check out the Orpington, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Good coffee. We had sausage and a bacon sandwich. Bread was good bread but very thick. Struggled. The bacon was streaky and a bit too crisp. We sat next to coffee-making and the constant banging of the milk pot on the counter is really annoying and distracting. Staff lovely though.

Went here for a team breakfast and thought this place was fantastic. Really nice atmosphere and nice décor. The service was great, our order was taken quickly and the food came out quickly. I had the Mackerel which was really nice and I'd have this again. Great little café and would visit again if out and about in Orpington.
There is a great team at The Orpington. Wonderful food, atmosphere and service. Fantastic at catering to dietary restrictions and host very fun unique events. We enjoyed their Halloween themed evenings this week, really fun, well balanced meal and cocktail options. So happy to recommend Scott and the team at The Orpington.
Very nice place, good set up, great coffee and small bites. I would not take my family to feed them here though. Nice, but small portions, that aren't cheap. Friendly staff and quick service. We had to book a table before turning up. Overall, would recommend for meeting for a hot drinks, wouldn't go there if I'm starving.

Really welcoming cafe, the breakfast was great and really tasty and the staff were really nice. My first time here and I will certainly go back however the reason for the 4 stars and not 5 stars was just because I thought it was just a tad expensive. PS - loved the music, they got the vibe just right!
Friendly and very welcoming staff. Excellent Soya Latté. Food looked lovely, sadly we had already eaten elsewhere. Every member of staff we met were very friendly and made us feel as though we were the only ones there. Visit this cafe, it is a local business that absolutely deserves to be supported.
Very lovely decor and wonderfully considerate and welcoming staff. Atmosphere was lovely with adjustments from daytime to evening. Also the noise level was pleasant and allowed us to have our conversation at a normal level and still be able to hear each other - this was on a Friday evening.
I took my wife and our children here to kick off my wife's birthday. The breakfast was devine and the service was brilliant. We'd definitely return and also would recommend the breakfast to family and friends.

Our first time going to The Orpington for dinner. We took our daughter who has worked in a number of restaurants and she loved it. Food delicious as always with excellent service. Save room for the bread and butter pudding and amaretto affogato!
Amazing food and service - the Vietnamese spring rolls were incredible. It’s great to see some really interesting vegan and veggie options in Orpington. Look forward to returning soon, and hope to see these make a come back on the specials menu!

Great menu with a range of brunch & lunch options. Limited but well selected & reasonably priced wine list. Excellent service. One very minor gripe would be no GF puddings other than ice cream. Will def return in future.
Relaxing and nice decor and atmosphere. The fact it is also a record store adds a quirky element to it. Staff are super friendly. Food and drink are top quality, albeit priced higher than some other places in Orpington
Hi went The Orpington last Sunday for my mums 90th. had a small private room a witch was perfect for our group. The food was superb and the service was very attentive. Would strongly recommend. Will be going back again
Nice place, well laid out, friendly staff. The coffee is excellent (Peruvian apparently). Tables in front, sofas out back for a longer stay. Food looked good, going to make time for a longer visit to sample it.
