I rented a property with Traversgray for about 5 years. There were a few problems along the way. Firstly when it come to repairs or getting them to do anything to help out, that was pretty much non-existent. In some cases I had to do my own repairs or install things such as fly screens because they ignored my emails about fly screens and the stove kept cutting the electricity out so I could only use one plate at a time, in the end it took them 6 months to get a new stove for me. There was also the issue with the fan in the bathroom, the curtain rails and there was issues with mould and a host of other problems. For awhile there I had an issue with a worker there by the name of Simon who used to call me each week and harass me into paying the rent and each week I'd say "I get paid fortnightly Simon, that is why I am a week behind, we have been through this before". Then one day I came home and had a letter of termination slid under the door. There was also the time they increased the rent but I was never informed of an increase as I never received a letter, then 3 months later I was told I was behind in the rent by $300 and that I had been paying $300 not $335 and I needed to pay the rent outstanding immediately or be terminated. You'd think they would tell you the first week it happened right?. For awhile we told Traversgray if you want to do repairs or whatever else (Because it was a 40 year old apartment) we can move out while you fix it up a bit and we will move back in once completed and pay the rent increase you charge which they never responded to us about. The whole time I lived at the apartment I was only subjected to two inspections, I thought inspections were done every 6 months?. When I finally left, I was told I would be getting my full bond back which was a relief but then they told me that I had to pay $95 but they wouldn't say what is was for, then they said if I refused to pay they would take it out of my bond whether I said yes or no. Thankfully after all of it I did get the full bond back. After I left I heard from neighbours that nobody had moved in for awhile so I knew that they were doing up the apartment. When I saw the apartment after they did the renovations I was furious to say the least, they didn't just do it up, they made a masterpiece. One of the reasons I left is because they refused to do repairs or anything and soon as I leave they create this masterpiece. I would of stayed if they would of been more reasonable. At the end of the day I think Traversgray is just like any other real estate, if you pay the rent on time that's all they care about, money money money.
Unfortunately I have had a terrible time with this agency, and want anyone reading these reviews to be warned. We moved into a place in Newtown in December 2018. By February 2019, the hot water in the apartment only lasted 2 minutes. We called the office and Shanna sent out two different people after weeks of many non returned emails and phone calls. Neither of these plumbers could apparently fix it, even though they agreed that it didn’t work. She then ghosted us for 2 months until I told her we would go to the ombudsman and report them due to them not fixing an urgent repair, and she finally replied a very rude email saying I had no right. After this she sent one more guy, and then she emailed me and blatantly told us it simply can’t be fixed. No apology, no rental reduction for no hot water, nothing. So basically she expected us to live with no hot water and she would not take any responsibility. By this time the lease was almost over and we had gone 10 months with no hot water, so we just waited it out. We left on the 17th of December and Shanna said that our bond would be back by Christmas. No surprise, didn’t come through and she was uncontactable and away for 3 weeks. In the end after calling every single day, she sent it back 6 weeks after we moved out. The apartment is now listed on real estate.com without a notice on the ad saying there is no working hot water at the property. Have never been so disappointed with a company before (other than the receptionist who is lovely) and recommend nobody to use Shanna as an agent. (Or to check the hot water if you are looking to rent in Newtown!)
If I could, I would rate as negative to zero stars. The managing director Mr Andrew Gray is obnoxious at best and if he was selling my property, I would relist my property elsewhere. I am looking to purchase a property in the inner west and city fringe (which is an area of Sydney that I love). When I rang to inquire about a listed property this morning, there were mistakes on the website (picture of a car space on the floor plan) and this is what I rang to verify and no property listing viewing time. As a potential buyer I had a few questions, to which he retorted rather rudely "whether I was in real estate?" and intimated that I must not know very much about property (and subsequent pricing and demand) since I was not in the business of selling aforementioned property. I find this to be the opposite of what I would suggest good customer service would be for a real estate agent looking to maintain good client and buyer relationships. Understanding that the property I have inquired about may have had offers for purchase, is no reason to be condescending and I suggest that in future a simple " The property that you have asked about seems to be popular and we expect it to fetch the current listed price" would have sufficed.
I just wanted to share my sincere thank you to Andrew and the entire team at Travesgray Real Estate. I have to say I was very impressed with the support Andrew provided me with a few of our properties, he was always very proactive with everything we asked for. The entire team was obviously well led by Andrew and Naomi, as they all seem to follow the same integrity which is what I felt each time I dealt with them. One thing that stood out for me, was that Andrew had a lot of experience when it came to buying and selling, this was a blessing for me. Hence, why I've stuck with them for over 10 years. For me, he was honest and knew the market well, he had integrity with a high level of credibility. I also want to highlight the work Lillya did for me as she handled my rental properties over the years, she was always there for me when the tenant had concerns, she gave me options and photos, not to mention having quotes ready with the best prices. She never once pushed me with who to go with, we both worked together with the best and quickest way to look after the tenant, which is what I liked. Great job guys and look forward to dealing with you again. You ticked all the boxes. John S
Adam Jakovovic has assisted me with renting out three investment properties over the last four years, in the Inner West, Eastern Suburbs and North Shore. In all instances, he found great tenants at the first open-for-inspection at the price we were asking for, ensuring the places were vacant for a minimal period. I was impressed by the thoroughness of his vetting process. While any property manager can get evidence of an applicant's employment and financial position, Adam went beyond this - he found tenants who were the right 'fit' for our properties. The tenants all proved to be low-maintenance, house-proud, and exactly what we were looking for. Adam made the whole process run smoothly. He made good recommendations for touch-ups before renting, helping to coordinate tradesmen. He efficiently managed tenant requests, only involving me when necessary. He emailed a good summary of his property inspections, giving me peace of mind. And when tenants left, there were no surprises. I would highly recommend Adam to anyone looking to rent a property.
Unprofessional and unethical. If you're a tenant don't go with these guys. All was well until we gave our notice to move out. The agency claimed our whole bond back with no notice and no reason for this whatsoever within the two week period with which they were required to provide us with invoices (we had organised end of tenancy cleaning). Shanna was unprofessional and unresponsive when asked to explain and was clearly hesitant to put things in writing via email as opposed attempting to speak over the phone. It was a $4,600 bond of which, more than two weeks after the claim, we received invoices for approximately $750. This included an $200 invoice for fixing a shower head that had literally rusted off and was clearly the landlord's responsibility. It took us submitting an NCAT application to get them to respond to anything and of the $4600 bond, we settled for less than one tenth of that purely to see the money back before the hearing which was more than two months down the track. Great way to treat people during a pandemic. Good riddance.
Lillya has recently taken over property management of my apartment by Traversgray. I have been a client for over 6 years. Her initial contact with me was to suggest an increase in rent for the existing tenant of 5%. Unfortunately, the tenant advised he was giving notice as he needed a bigger property! Lillya promptly advised me of this, informing me similar properties in the building were asking 15% more than I was getting from the current tenant. She prepared marketing and promotional material and worked with the existing tenant to obtain a ‘walkthrough’ video to promote the apartment. Lillya had secured a new tenant on a 2 year lease, within 3 days, increasing the rent from the previous tenant by 21%. The new tenant moved in seamlessly 1 week after the previous tenant vacated. Lillya handled all the paperwork for the new lease. I met Lillya at the apartment when she was inspecting it. I found her to be personable, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. I would happily recommend Lillya and Traversgray. Philip
I have used Traversgray for the management of 2 inner west properties for a number of years. When I bought in Lane Cove they were only too happy to manage this property also even thought it is some distance from Erskineville. The whole experience has been nothing less than excellent. Shane answers messages, reacts quickly and raises issues without delay. He also looks after my tenants which I appreciate as they are my customers too. Recently I sold one inner west unit. The price achieved was excellent in a tight market. Shane, in his own time, and at cost price, decorated the balcony with greenery and made the place look so much better. After the sale Shane sold the plants etc and refunded me the money! I have no hesitation in continuing to use Shane and Travergrey for all my property needs. They give Agents a good name - I wish they would open a car dealership!
Unfortunately Traversgray removed their old profile with poor reviews and numerous complaints which truly reflects their capacity and treatment of tenants. I would not recommend trusting their current reviews. We found the communication abysmal, with problems going unanswered for months on end despite over a dozen emails, a dozen phone calls and multiple visits to the Traversgray office. We had significant out of pocket expenses despite the managing agent Naomi Travers confirming the expenses would be covered. The other managing agent, Andrew Gray, was both invective and slanderous towards me regarding the property we were renting, which he had never personally inspected. Not behaviour we expected of a professional firm, but certainly in keeping with previous reviews we had read. On the other hand Shane Turner was truly helpful and pleasant to deal with.
Had the worst experience with Shanna dau ! Haven’t had hot water for a week( happened multiple times since we moved in) and got send over a plumber on the day we moved out ( they didn’t clean after them ) asked to be present for bond inspection four weeks in advance and Shanna couldn’t organise it and is being unresponsive or extremely slow with responses you basically need to call her every day to get things done . We moved overseas and waiting for our bond pay out . Shanna is charging now extra for cleaning . ($330) , a toilette seat and a vanity which are firstly broken since we moved in plus are in there since the unit is build and definitely landlord responsibility. It’s been a nightmare communicating with her from overseas . Comes up with new issues she wants to charge every week and basically got nothing processed since we moved out !
We rented a flat through Traversgray and couldn't be happier with the service they provided. They were always available when we called, gave us quick responses when we had a question and were eager to help with any issue we had. At one point in our tennancy we had a major flood caused by a blocked gutter in our building. Traversgray provided immediate assistance and ongoing support when we needed it. It was greatly appreciated. Lilya, our rental manager, was excellent to deal with, demonstrating professionalism, empathy and an enthusiasm to cater for the needs of the tennant and the landlord in equal measures. I highly recommend Traversgray real estate to prospective tennants and landlords alike. They are a hidden gem in the inner city real estate landscape that should not be over looked.
Shane Turner has been our property manager for years now and was also involved in the sale of one of our properties just recently. Our property was sold in under a week of being listed, and we believe that the success was largely due to Shane’s input into the staging of the apartment. He worked with the stylist to come up with a fresh look so our property stood out from all the beige on the market, in an area with an over-supply of apartments. He is the best of the best, and one of the rare agents to go above and beyond. His attention to detail and level of involvement are second to none, and his communication exemplary. Worst real-estate agent. There was a leakage of water from ceiling whenever it rains. When i ask the agent Jake to fix the issue, he told me to put towel and bucket. What a great solution given for the water leakage issue. These agent only treat you nice until you have not signed the contract. Once you sign the contract, they will put cotton in their ears and sleep. And if you are late to pay rent by a day, they gonna call you but when we call them to tell the issue in unit, they are not going to answer the call.Horrible experience with this real-estate. Not recommend at all.Stay away from this real estate, if you don't want trouble.
We were tenants of Travers Gray for nearly 4 years, and during that time they were great. Con Paradisis our property manager is a fantastic, professional agent and it was always a pleasure to communicate with him. He was always quick to response to any queries. In more than one occeasion he treated us with care and kindness. One example is doing the final inspection and releasing the bond one day after the end of lease date which is unhread of! They undrestand the pressure on tenants during the pandemic and do their best to ease the situtation. Keep up the good work guys!
We rented a house in Newtown using Travergray and the experience was one of the most positive I have had with a real estate agency. We dealt primarily with Kim and Cindy who were always, polite, helpful and prompt on responding to issues. We had a couple of problems (not todo with the property but mostly todo with old plumbing in the area) as well as requests like wall mounting a TV, pets, etc and Traversgray were always quick to respond with either an answer from the owners or tradesman. I would definitively recommend Traversgray and would happily use them again.
It saddens me to rate them so low as the last year has been a positive experience. However coming to the end of our tenancy, the lack of responses to emails (5 emails) and phone calls (3 calls) over the last 3 months has been shocking! I am still having to liaise directly with the Receptionist as the Director cannot be bothered in responding it emails and phone calls, even though she is our property manager! Get your act together as the real-estate market is very competitive and if you don't put your customers first, they will go elsewhere.
Many years ago I worked with Adam and he was always very professional and was on top of his game in managing properties. He always had a great rapport with owners and renters, he has been doing this for many years and has mastered his skill. That is why Adam now manages my property and I couldn't be happier. I don't have any headaches of dealing with all the hassles that comes with managing your own property. I get paid the same time every month, the bills get paid and I'm stress free knowing that he does everything by the book .
I couldn’t recommend our property manager Shanna Kelly more. She is personable, approachable and efficient – definitely someone you can trust. We rented an old house from Shanna so as you would expect various issues would arise – she always dealt with these issues in a timely way and kept regular communication till resolved. Also Cindy the receptionist is great, always assisting when Shanna may have been unavailable, like a tag team. She was friendly and I always felt confident that things would be followed up on. Andrew is professional and super helpful for my purchase of the property in 2017, to find the tenant within 1 week of my purchase and take good care of the tenants and property in the past 3 years. His team responds very quick, always get the tenants to pay rent on time and provide instant assistances when needed. There is another highlight which is the super cute postcard during Xmas from the team. I highly recommend traversgray and I’ll definitely be a great neighbor shortly!
I've had my property managed by Traversgray for over a decade now and I couldn't be happier. I'm always kept up-to-date with what's going with my property and with the rental market in general. Whenever there are any problems or something needs fixing, Con Paradisis, my agent, is super quick to get me quotes, the prices are always reasonable and everything is managed smoothly. I have had all sorts of experiences with property managers in the past... and from a tenant's perspective this has been the best by far! Our shower lost pressure, within 24 hrs the plumber had come and gone and replaced it. Our stove was old, within a week they had ordered and re-installed a new one. Nothing has been too much effort and the response times were always prompt. A fantastic experience all round!
Worst real state company ever! Had a bad experience from the beginning to the end. From giving us the wrong keys when we first got the property, to supporting the landlord trying to ripping us off by getting a big chunk off our bond when we left! (What he couldn’t do!! Had to go to NCAT hearing but everything was in our side ). Summarising, I would not recommend this company or it’s agents to any one!!

We have rented property from Traversgray real-estate. Shanna Kelly, our realtor,was good to work with when signing the lease and during the handover. During tenancy, at the very beginning, the issues were solved quickly however this has changed with the time (renting for 3 years now) and some of the issues have to be repeatedly reminded and it takes rather long fixing those.

Very poor management of the property we rent. Staff do not take responsibility for actions or ensure work is completed in a timely manor. Staff at Travers Gray seem to change often and either blame the owner or the maintenance staff or slow and poorly managed projects. I like the property however dealing with this Travers Gray team is a nightmare.
Shanna was a huge help when we had a bit of a hot water pipe exploding emergency at 8am on a Monday morning. She came over straight away, was on the phone to the plumber and electrician and was constantly in touch to make sure everything was fixed asap. We had everything sorted within a few hours. Used these guys for 4 years. Service was fine up until vacating. Shane Turner was punctual, friendly and reliable. Shanna has been unhelpful and unresponsive. Took 3 months to have advance rent and bond refunded. Only making an offical complaint to NSW fair trading seemed to spark them into action.
