January 2022: Wanted to add that I recently had (mend) overhaul my Pereira mixte, and not only did (mend) return that 12-year-old bike to like-new condition, their very observant and detail-oriented mechanics also found some barely noticeable cracks in the rim of the rear wheel that could have, eventually, left me seriously stranded. The new wheel is perfect, and their suggestion to replace my old BB-7s mechanical disc brakes with new Spykes (and compressionless cable housing) was brilliant--the braking is more responsive and powerful than before, silent, and smooth. Oh yes, and the new bright yellow Pro Compressionless housing looks boss on the bike. I'm really enjoying the ride--thank you! Spring 2021: Just brought my Co-Motion Americano in for a handlebar wrap and freewheel service. Gorgeous job on the wrap, and on the rear hub (this bike has a nonstandard Hugi hub, so the quality and professionalism of the freewheel service was particularly notable). (mend) did the job for a super fair price, and provided quick turnaround, so I have my beloved Americano back in time for some much anticipated day tours in the Methow next week. Thank you (mend), and (mend)'s fabulous mechanics. I am so grateful to have you as my local shop, and that you've got my back for what I can't do (or run out of time to do!) in my garage. Ellen

Horrible. Wife brought her bike in. Repair took two almost two weeks because they stated they "were busy." Phone calls went unanswered. Store hours in emails and on the door didn't match the hours they were open. Once my wife made contact with them to get her bike back the staff was rude, inconsiderate and condescending. In this time they should be thankful for being busy and having customers. This level of service assures me they will not get my business again. UPDATE: Not long after this review was posted my wife was contacted by the owner, James, and given a full refund and an apology. I give full credit when someone does that. I think you have to admire a small business owner doing what they feel they need to do to make things right. In this case that was done. I will take my bike in at some point and let them give it a tune up and further update this review when that happens. Until then I'll raise them to three stars and see how it plays out from there. Thank you, James and (mend).

My bike was vandalized at work by a(Secret Society of Bullies). I'm not a mechanic so I didn't know what was wrong only that my back tire had been flattened, nicks on the right handlebar (throttle it's electric), and my seat was attempted to be cut. Naturally, the police can't address this when there are no witnesses or cameras. The staff was extremely kind, and helpful at a time I really needed to experience kindness. They did an excellent job, and in less time than was promised. The price was less than expected, they adjusted the brakes because they were loose. The bike is 2 months old and I ride 6miles round-trip to work 5 days a week. It's not as fast as it use to be but I'm happy it's running so I can ride to work. Thanks Mend staff super nice and professional.

Update In the beginning, not sure when to pick up my desired bike because of different answers from different employees in this store. It a little disrupted my time because I have to take the bus there and ride it back. After clarifying the status, it's still an excellent store; however, I've found other choice so that I give up my original order. Good luck with business! CHEN Old comments below "Very bad service. I sent Email a couple of times, but I just feel they are not willing to sell bicycles and they usually ignore the emails. I called them twice, but get different answers. It seems like they don't sync costumer's info. Hopefully it only because of the hard time now by virus."

My bike buddy highly recommended this place. I usually go to a different bigger bike shop near my place but a stuff there actually didn't know about di2 comparability which is very odd for working bicycle industry. So...I decided going to Mend, my bike buddy's recommendation. The stuffs are friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered new bike part there. Unfortunately the supply chain issue, my package is delayed. I bought another same part from online with overnight shipping. Mend is very helpful for installing new part quick even if they did it for free because they felt bad about the supply chain issue which is not their fault. I appreciate their service and I definitely go back.

Alas, I moved out of the neighborhood shortly after (mend) opened. They are the local shop I always wanted: friendly, helpful and professional. Unlike some shops, the staff at (mend) won't make you feel stupid or less-than-cool for not knowing how to fix everything on your own bike. I only needed to go in a handful of times in the six months that I lived down the block, but every time I was impressed by their customer service. They always made time to answer questions even when they knew that it wouldn't result in a sale. Thanks for being awesome! I hope I will be able to pop in again someday soon.

I only review when the service is either great or awful. Glad to say my experience at Mend Bicycles was great!! My bike is a bit complicated and can be cranky. A electric peddle assist kit on a modified Bike Friday. And it needed attention. Talked with James about my needs and concerns. Two days later it was ready. My first ride had me smiling. Not only was everything working but it looked so much better after all the winter crud had been removed. He also had a few good recommendations that I will be following up. Great service. Reasonable cost. I definitely wii be going back.

Kirk, at the Seattle Children's Mend location, discovered that the carbon fork on my old cyclocross bike was compromised. He took the initiative to investigate why my fork exhibited an 'unusual amount of lateral flex,' which ultimately led to this discovery. Attached is the photo he sent to me as evidence. Kirk's attention to detail may have prevented a very dangerous fork failure. I even previously took this bike to another bike shop and received a false green light. I'm truly grateful for Kirk's thoroughness and commitment to safety.

Incredibly friendly, deeply knowledgeable and fairly priced. Although you shouldn't expect them to be able to handle a request same day (they're busy during this worldwide run on bikes and pandemic supply chain disruption), they will if they can. I was the benefactor of such a quick turn around and it enabled a ride on my weekend getaway. Don't be fooled by the small(ish) shop - they do it all with the expertise and professionalism of any shop in town. I've found my new favorite LBS!

epic swag bike shop -- I've come in to get parts a few times and it has been a great experience every time. Today I came in to get my steerer tube cut and the lady at the front told me I should probably wait until I had my wheelset, etc. to get it cut and gave a lot of great advice. I appreciated that they gave me advice that would be better for my build in the long-term and didn't secure the service sale immediately. Definitely coming back :)

  • Luke Schaefer

These are some real dudes. An hour into a 70 mile bike ride, I popped a rear flat a half mile away from these guys. I called, confirmed they had road bike tubes, showed up, and they gave me a great deal on the tube and even threw in a couple honey stinger waffles or whatever they're called for my journey. CANNOT recommend outfits like this enough that take care of all comers so well.

Our family loves (mend)! We have bought multiple bikes and accessories here and used them for repairs many times. James, the owner, is awesome and really cares about his customers. We have had a good experience with everyone who works here - it feels like their suggestions are honest and I never feel up-sold. I also appreciate that they will take trade-ins and sell refurbished bikes.

I wanted to take my pedals apart myself but didn't have the right tool. I went in there and they explained the risks involved with DYI pedal service, and some safe practices, and then let me borrow their tool to work on it myself in the store! Super nice of them to let me do that! I have also had my bike serviced here in the past and their service has been superb!

  • Adam Knudson

My girlfriend and I went in to get a new tire for her bike, and left with so much more! They have an excellent selection considering the size of the shop. And the staff there are so helpful and don't make you feel stupid if you dont know everything about bikes (like some other places). Super convenient location and honestly surprising deals on bikes as well.

  • GJ Wendt5

These guys are absolutely amazing. I brought my bike in needing a tune-up among other things. They were able to fix my bike with a really quick turn around time (cost a bit extra, but it was totally worth it). They were informative, helpful, courteous. Had a good selection of biking jackets as well. This is my new go to store! Thanks!

  • seattlethistle

Given how busy bike shops are right now I had no right to ask if Mend could switch out my handlebar the same afternoon. No promises were made but the mechanic called me at 5:58pm to say it was done and she’d wait past 6pm closing to give me time to drive over. Brilliant customer service and my new bar perfectly wrapped too!

  • Andy Wildenberg

Had a really great first experience here. Shop had way more selection of product than I believe possible for its size, prices were very close to what I'd looked at online, and their installation was fast and very reasonably priced. Definitely will be my new go to place, and may wean me off of online bike part stores.

  • Carol Kessler

Mend Bicycles is one of a kind! Friendly, easy going, extremely skilled staff, open for walk in business and reasonably priced. They did a safety check for me on my brand new bike that had not bought from them, and treated me and my bike like I had bought it from them. What a pleasure to do business with!!

  • Will Black

Great local shop (with Parking!). The staff are super friendly and helpful. I love stopping by to shoot the breeze or ask some technical questions. I try to do most of my own bike maintenance, and I’ve always been given tips and tricks by everyone in the store. Glad they’re in the neighborhood.

  • Ryan Minton

The staff and mechanics at this shop are solid, very helpful and engaging. James (the owner) was very accommodating and generous in clearing up a miscommunication resulting in extra charges incurred on the labor needed to fix my bike, which I think speaks most about the character of this shop.

  • Yasmeen Hussain

(1) The staff in the shop were impatient and pretty rude when we were trying to figure out what we needed. (2) A replacement tube costs $8 here, double most other stores in the area. I wanted to try this place out because it's so close to my house, but they've lost my business for good.

  • Keenan Collins

Got quoted 50$ for simple bike repair and was charged 100$ and told that there where other problems that sounded very simple for them to have just fixed aswell if they where already working on bike. Somewhat rude staff, first woman I talk to was nice! Would have liked to have liked!!

  • Jen St Cyr

This is one of my favorite bike shops in all of Seattle. Small and mighty, skilled yet approachable and generous with knowledge, some cool used builds and very affordable new bikes. I live in Rainier Beach but often come here for repairs. Don't sleep on this gem of a shop!

  • Ben Broussard

The only place I will bring my electric scooter! They have gone above and beyond with their customer service! Anytime I’ve had an issue they listen to me with open ears and compassion. I will continue to recommend anyone who need bike/scooter repair into their direction !

  • Jeff Musser

James runs a fantastic shop. The shop is small but don't be misled by the size. He knows the product well, has access to what you will want if it is not in the store, and service is fantastic. Give them an opportunity at your business and you won't be disappointed.

  • Hannah Richardson

Tiny place tucked in an unlikely location, this place is great. The owner is knowledgeable, friendly and willing to do just about anything to get you kitted out properly for the road. He really helped a newby find the right parts for my bike to get down the road.

  • Cliff Naylor

I bought a bike from craigslist despite not living in the area, and (mend) agreed to take receipt of the bike, pack, and ship it for me. The bike was very well packed and in a timely fashion, and the whole process couldn't have been easier. Highly recommend.

  • Ryan Wietholter

Rude counter boy needs a hug and Happy Meal. If you don’t like your job do something else. But before you find a better job please update your store’s website so people don’t drive all the way over there to pick up things you do not have in stock.

  • Brandy M

Loved this shop. Very knowledgeable and you’re able to walk in without it feeling like you’ve inconvenienced them. We purchased used and new bikes and logged 26 miles on them same day! Definitely feel like we got a good deal and will be back!

  • Stenton Toledo

I bring everything I can't dangerously try and fix myself to (mend). Great service, great staff, fairly priced, and fit that role of the friendly neighborhood bike shop. Highly recommend you bring your bike here for any type of service.

  • Kevin Witt

What a neighborhood gem! (mend) is everything you could want in a neighborhood bike shop: Honest, friendly, great service and excellent prices. They care for every bike in our family - I feel grateful to live near such a great place!

  • Roger Sapp

Love this shop! I wrench on my own bikes and stop in for a part from time to time. I *usually* know what I'm talking about, but they really know what's up and are friendly and helpful when I'm fuzzy on details/out of my depth.

  • Ido O.

Great team, good selection of purchasable items. Bike fitting. Always very welcoming and will look at your bike almost immediately to see what's going on with it. Business hours very convenient, everyday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

  • Terrell Harrington

Over $100 to replace an e-bike chain. The actual issue that brought the bike in still persists, but hey, at least I have a new chain. Make sure you know what they're going to charge you for before committing here.

  • Jonah

Great local bike store! I’ve brought my bike there many times for tune ups and to have flats fixed, and they’re always very quick and efficient. They’ve also got some great bike accessories like mud flaps.
