"The bamboo forest is beautiful and worth seeing, but as many people recommend, it's best to go as early as possible (or before sunset)"
Beautiful but not a must see in my opinion. It is packed and the bamboo forest was not as magical as others claim or maybe they never been around bamboo. A lot of tourists and expensive shops. If you go, you will see beautiful temples and nature. We were able to visit the area using a stroller.
A must visit for tourists. But it’s indeed very MYSTICAL! it feels like we entered into another dimension, just appreciating the scenery. Lots of beautiful photo spots. crowded for sure, depending on what time you visit the forest. Free, no admission fee! …
I came here early, shortly after sunrise. Too many photographers were taking photos. The light was not enough. Tripod required. It is better not to go too early, but earlier enough before the crowd come in, but after photographers have done their tasks.
You can forget about taking a nice peaceful stroll through the bamboo forest as it is extremely crowded with hordes of tourists from all over the world. I am not sure why this place is so popular. The nearby Monkey Park is more fun and less crowded.
The bamboo forest is beautiful and worth seeing, but as many people recommend, it's best to go as early as possible (or before sunset). I arrived at 7:40am and there were already a fair few people there, mostly focused on taking photos. The …
Don't trust the pictures showing nobody in the area as those are usually taken during the wee hours of the morning like 5-7am. It will get very busy and packed. Probably good to visit during meal times to get fewer people in your picture. …
The bamboo forest is nice. However, it has been grossly sensationalised by social media. The walk through takes five minutes, and if you arrive too late, will be overflowing with tourists. Thankfully, we went early, and were able to take …
Very nice bamboo forest. You can take a direct bus that is just outside kyoto train station. (See Google maps). There are many shops outside this bamboo forest. These shops and the bus loads of tourist make this a very vibrant area. Also …
Amazing place. I would highly recommend coming earlier in the morning before the tour groups get here as it can get quite claustrophobic in the late morning to early afternoon. If you get there before 10, you shouldn’t have any issues …
Embraced the early hours at Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, taking advantage of our early riser status to wander through nature's beauty before sunrise, capturing moments of tranquility. The short walk from beginning to end revealed majestic …
Iconic tourist location in Kyoto! Most who visit Arashiyama will have a walk around the Bamboo Forest. I was definitely expecting crowds as it was difficult for us to arrive by 7am with two kids in tow since we were coming from Osaka. …
It just started snowing and the breeze had picked up but we were protected on the paths. The rustling on the leaves way above were soothing and very reminiscent of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. …
On my second visit, the gentle rustle of bamboo leaves in the wind enveloped the surroundings with a calming aura, making it an ideal place for a leisurely walk, especially with loved ones. …
I had the pleasure of being able to visit this gorgeous place with my wife in November 2023. It was just the beginning of fall season and the weather was starting to cool down. …
