My dog was diagnosed with IMHA in a ER and we were ask to take him to a regular vet for a bloodwork recheck. Reason why we visit A Pet's Choice Veterinary Care on 07/28/23. First visit was ok, doctor James McLean prescribed to keep with half prednisone 20 mg dose every 12 hours and also ordered for another test lab (bloodwork done a week before). We never were advise by dr. about side effects in prescription besides more appetite & thirst. Also Dr. said we would receive a call next day (if not next working day July 31th). I call back on august 1st, because nobody did it. The person at the phone told lab result were not ready and I would receive a call once they have them. A couple of minutes after I received a call letting me know that my next visit will be on august 7th. Today (august 3rd) we realized several hairless areas with irritated wounds in my dog’s back, reason why I took there around 13:30 - 14:00 hrs. There I explained what was happening with him to the person in front desk, all my concerns and obviously asking about test results, because I was waiting since 5 days ago. The lady at front desk listen to me and explained she would ask doctor and come back. She came back and explain everything I already knew, situation I explained to her and again I told my concerns and inconvenience for not having the results referring doctor’s word. Situation to which she turned rude asking me to comeback to my programed visit and not interrupt the treatment even though we notice the side effects. I explained her I was confused why Dr. told us one date for having the results to which se replied: “Dr. works on several clinics and doesn’t know our lab times”. She turned more rude and asked me if I needed a Spanish speaker, situation that I refused since I was plenty understanding everything, but she was not helping me by listening and trying to understand what I’m passing thru, she was just telling me information about the desease and the side effects, information that I agreed because I already was read about). After this I ask for my options and possibles scenarios to know till where it would be necessary to come back to the ER and why I was asked to go for a new visit if they didn’t have last lab results (I have visit another 2 places were they have lab test same day not only the ER). With the situation I realized nobody would help and I left the place with one of the worst vet experience I had and the same questions. Why they haven’t received the results yet? Why they ask me to come back in 4 days if they don’t have lab results yet? Why I paid $502.23 for nothing than a dose refill and a test that haven’t been received in seven days?
I took my dog who has, what Dr. Horton said, was an injury on her foot. We took her in for the the first visit and we were told it was probably just an injury and to give her antibiotics and anti pain medicine not to mention I spent 5 hours waiting to be helped. Her follow up visit was ten days later, with no improvement whatsoever we went in hoping for better news. As I came inside they received me for the appointment and asked me to wait. The veterinary technician came out, looked at me and asked if I spoke English. An odd question considering I’m blond with green eyes. The only indication that I may speak Spanish would be my last name, so the question of if I spoke English seemed odd. She proceeded to weigh my dog. We went into the room and the vet tech brought in the veterinarian Dr. Horton who asked if the wound had gotten any better, the answer to which was no. She checked my dogs ears and eyes and did not bother to check my dogs paw. Then I was told that they would take a heartworm test which she tested negative for. I was then told that my dog should be operated on, so they could open the wound and check for a foreign object. I did research on foreign objects and discovered that there was no reason to operate on my dog and that she should just X-ray instead of poking around in the wound. I informed them that I would be getting a second opinion. I paid and left for the second time feeling upset that I was charged 200 the first time for medication that did not improve my dog's condition, and was charged 90 the second time for the heart worm exam and observation of my dog, which is insane considering that the vet did not even look at my dogs paw. On top of that the operation just to see what was wrong with her paw would have been an extra 600 dollars. I would just like to say the vet seemed to be more focused on the money aspect than the wellness of my dog. I would not recommend going here. After being treated poorly and being asked what language I spoke in a rude tone of voice I feel they did a poor job. Not to mention they spoke to both me and my father as if we were uneducated and incapable of listening to instructions.
This place was the absolute best. My dog Tex ran into a branch and i had assumed it was an abrasion on his eye. Tex is my first dog. Like a new mom, I have no idea what I'm doing. I called in the morning and spoke with Marissa. She was so kind and provided an answer to every single question I had from times to go in to pricing. We planned that I'd go in as a walk in. She did give a heads up about wait time as a walk in, which I really appreciated. As we were getting ready to head over, Marissa called and let me know there was an opening because of a cancelation and it would help with not having to wait. I took it! We go in and wait in our car for order turn in like someone called to get some PMH. Iris comes out and gets us from the car. She walks us to our room and got more info as to what going on with Tex. She was very sweet and made me feel as if I wasn't the over dramatic first time pet owner.. although I felt like that. But she was patient and so friendly with Tex. The provider came in. I didn't catch her name but let me tell you. She was so sweet. She listened to my concerns, answered my questions, and gave me great recommendations. Even when I said something like he will be ok with this instead of that. She explained to me why her recommendations would be best without making me feel dumb. She provided me all the info to make me feel confident in not only taking Tex home but treating him too.. She too was just so friendly and kind to Tex. After all this I was so worried about the pricing. Although I was told one price for the initial visit I knew they would go up based off of treatment in clinic and med for home. Then comes check out.. the young woman was also kind and helpful.. I was given a price. I was just soooo impressed. I thought I was going to have to pay so much more. The prices are really affordable. Today I got a call back to see how he's doing. It made me so happy to know they care for my pet too! I would definitely recommend this clinic! From the very first call to a follow up call! Thanks yall!.. I will definitely be returning for all my pets health needs.
We found a puppy running around the parking lot on Raymond Medina downtown. She looked hungry and thirsty and had some sores on her that looked to need some care. We wanted to get her back to her owners or take her in if she didn't have any we could find. No chip with owner information so we have welcomed her into our family. I called several vets in the area by where I live out near Helotes/Northwest San Antonio, and this one was the most friendly and helpful on the phone. That same attention came when we walked through the door for our visit until we finished our appointment and with the aftercare attention the next day. They were thorough and gentle, taking into the fact that our puppy was very skittish and nervous to be there. They told us what they would recommend for her to be up to date on shots etc but didn't keep recommending more and more services just to pad their bill. I appreciate when a business I deal with is honest and up front and will tell you: this is a must, this is a wish list item, and this you don't particularly need. I felt like we got that type of care here. I loved the vet, she was very knowledgeable, kind and caring, and wasn't in too much of a hurry to get out of the room (didn't seem too busy for us) but I know she had others to see. I would highly recommend A Pet's Choice for all your veterinary needs. Even though it ended up being a bit of a drive for us, very well worth the extra few minutes to get there (about a 25 minute drive from my place).
I recently adopted two kittens with my roommate and chose this vet based on a “recommendation” from the adoption center. First of all, this place is NOT affordable. We have spent over $350 on care there for two common diagnoses in less than 30 days. The veterinarian diagnosed our kittens initially with ringworm and then with intestinal parasites. While she asked us if we had any questions at our visit, we also expected answers. She asked her vet tech to give us advice for one question and was talking through her respiratory and heart exams…we’re not paying over $100 for the advice of someone who did not go to veterinary school nor who isn’t performing auscultation appropriately. The front desk staff also gives you a RANGE of advice — from your pet’s diagnosis is super contagious and alarming to your cats are fine and harmless. While on the phone, for example, one lady was answering a question I had, stopped mid-sentence, and said, “Oh wait. She is shaking her head no. Let me put you on hold.” In addition, when asked about co-treating a diagnosis for one kitten because they share a litter box, we couldn’t get a straight answer from the vet. We had to ask the staff, who asked the vet, who then told my roommate and I a variety of responses. Altogether, the clinic seems money-oriented, disorganized, misinformed, and highly unprofessional.
We brought in a puppy we adopted after his mother rejected him and noticed he had a head tilt that we thought was due to an injury. I used to love this place and took all my old dogs here when I was younger, but it isn't the great veterinary clinic it used to be. Our vet was an elderly gentleman who barely touched and examined our pup. He also couldn't read a bottle to see if it was cleaner to help wipe up and accident our puppy had. After maybe five minutes of "examining" our puppy, he said it was neurological and we should put him down as he was in pain. Our pup is very playful, eat and drinks well and plays all day. He never showed signs of pain. We left and I immediately scheduled an appointment with Encino Park Veterinary Clinic where I take my 4 year old German Shepherd. The vet at Encino Park gave our puppy a thorough exam, asked how he eats, drinks, and if he plays. She noticed he would squirm when she examined his neck and performed bloodwork to see if it was neurologic or an injury. As it turns out, it was a neck injury that was healing well! No need to even think about putting our pup down like Affordable Pet Care said we needed to do. Maybe this place is good for some, but I will never take another animal there. This happened back in April and our boy is living strong and healthy. With a healed neck.
Previously, approximately 2 1/2 years ago I wrote an amazing review for this place. But after speaking with Amanda this morning I have to take everything I said about their customer service back. Amanda was very rude. She was condescending. And when I advised her that I was not happy with her customer service her response was, "would you like to cancel the appointment?" That question in itself says all that needs to be said about the customer service provided at affordable pet care. When I asked her if that was her solution to my dissatisfaction with her customer service, she responded with, "well you don't sound like you're happy." I have been going here since we first got our girls and I have never received the service that I received from Amanda this morning. Prayerfully when we go to our appointment, (that I did not cancel even though she recommended that I cancel it... ) Prayerfully Amanda will not be in the office that day providing horrible customer service. Very disappointed. Just received a voicemail from APC after hours advising me that my appointment was NOT made. So it appears AMANDA cancelled my appointment/never made it. Wow! So very disappointed. The call advised that they were closed but I could call them tomorrow...Saturday morning. I will definitely keep you posted as to what happens next.
My wife and daughter took or dog Charlie to affordable pet care first we to set up an appointment I explained more or less what was going on with or dog but before I can finish she says it will be 25 for the visit paid up front and if you miss the appointment you lose the 25 dollars I said fine so my wife and daughter show up and the assistant tells my wife that Charlie had kidney failure and his intestines were failing even like she only did a fecal test and she couldn’t do a blood exam because the results wouldn’t be ii until Friday and said to go to a hospital for pets but I was charged 55 dollars more They paid and left really a total of 80 dollars so we got together at and talked about putting Charlie down we didn’t know if he was in pain but then we said take him to texas vet clinic yes we paid a hefty price for him to be seen but it was worth every dime we spent to hear the doctor Charlie is going to be fine he has no kidney failure nothing that affordable pet said he had today is nov 26 2022 and Charlie is almost running up and down the stairs he is still weak but at least we made the right decision Charlie is almost 12 yrs old schitzu so long story don’t even go to affordable pet care they have no heart for pets money first and bad consultation
I called a lot of places looking for a walkin office and found this clinic. I was able to make an 11am appointment and got seen within 5 min. The staff was very friendly and kind. My 14 year old had two accidents which I really felt bad about and tried to clean it up. But the staff told me not to worry about it at all and that they would clean it up, they really didn't make me feel bad at all. I was able to see Dr. Ortiz today, who was very professional and very easy to speak to. I brought in my dog because he was bleeding from his front left elbow, because he is a long haired dog it was hard to see how it happened . Dr Ortiz was able to show me that it wasn't a cut but inflammation from an infection that he got .It got to the point where his skin started seeping the blood from being so inflamed. She sent us home with inflammatory medication and some pain relieving medicine. We weren't at all coerced into doing a bunch of test or made to feel bad about his gums and teeth he also has cataracts which I can't afford to fix but wasn't made to feel bad about. I had a good first experience and I will follow up if I need to go back.
Veterinary staff is friendly, services are standard and reasonably priced for the San Antonio area. They prescribe medication for my dog but never have it in stock and ask me to come back later. This time when they called, I couldn't get there until a week later, but I let them know that. I went. They didn't have it again and offered to give me a prescription to get it elsewhere. If I had time or interest in spending time shopping around for the medication, I'd already be doing that. It's poor customer service. They wouldn't even call to their sister location to see if they had it there so I could drive over and pick it up from them (obviously no offer to try to get it from them for me, which seems like a thing to do). Since I am not in love with the clinic, it's not anything special, I'll be taking my dog elsewhere when it's time to renew and refill his prescription. It's a shame, but I guess that's just poor business. They must have a ton of customers so they don't care.
Bad experience from the start. They failed to send me the email informing me that I wouldn't be staying with my dog during the interview process and then refused to let me tour the facility. I was told a handler would call to update me on my dog around 1p.m. and that my dog would be ready about 3-4 p.m. Never recieved an update call and I had to call at 4 asking if my dog was ready for pick up.. To which employee replied "Yes she's ready to pick up whenever." As I walk in I witnessed an employee almost give a client the wrong dog!!! I was there to pick up my dog during her interview!!!! Such a frightening first impression. When I mentioned the mistake I was told it was ok because the client thought it was funny! And when I asked why I never got an update call she coldly replied, "We get busy." Needless to say my dog will not be attending Camp Bow WoW. I will not risk them giving my furry child to the wrong owner. They lack professionalism and customer care is non existent.
I’ve been using APC Basse since I moved to San Antonio two years ago and have been very happy with the care I received. Something must’ve changed recently because I was very disappointed with my last visit. I took my dog in for extremely itchy skin and hair loss. The vet barely looked at my dog and said there was nothing they could do there then referred me to somewhere outside the city. Really? No tests or anything? I asked her if she had any idea of what it was that my dog had and she was just so rude in responding. One of the front desk staff was rude on the phone with me beforehand too. So I just paid 70 dollars for nothing! I took her to the St. Francis Veterinary Center and they actually did a thorough examination, performed tests on her and explained in depth that she had a bacterial infection and what the next steps would need to be. They were WAY more kind and welcoming as well! We will be going there from now on!
I came in here because my mom has been coming here for years. My first visit it was great. They helped me out as a new pet owner they adviced and gave me a prescription to help out my new puppy. Everyone was so loving. My puppy started to have soft stool and so I had to take him to a 24 hour vet because it was after hours. They told me almost completely different information than what affordable pet care had said. Even advised to stop giving my puppy the medication Affordable pet care had suggested. Of course I was very upset so I called them. The doctor was so nice called me and apologized. She explained everything and reassured me that she would never do harm. I ket taking him at this new vet and they were a little scary. So I will be staying at affordable pet care I went back and they were helpful and very reassuring that it will be okay.
I have been coming to APC for over a year for my senior dog. I had seen some negative reviews start to show up, but I had always had a good experience before. Today was different. I scheduled an appointment for 4:15 pm. I arrived early and my appointment time came and went. They finally called me to go to one of the exam rooms to wait some more for the doctor. I sat in the exam room for over 45 minutes and the doctor never came. Nor did anyone come in to say she was behind or was delayed with another animal. When it was after an hour after my scheduled appointment, I could hear the staff cleaning up to close the office. They close at 5:30! No one came in to say anything. I finally went to the front desk and asked for a copy of my dogs records. They didn't try to keep my business. Just confirmed my email. I'm looking for another vet.
My kitties were throwing up all week, and the staff here got them scheduled on the same day that I called! Everyone, from the front desk, to the vet techs, and Dr. Grilley were very friendly and helpful during the whole process. I didn't feel like I was being pushed to get any unnecessary services or over charged. Depending on your definition of affordable, it may or may not be. However, that's medical care for ya. I got a check-up, antibiotic, celenia shot, bland cat food, and probiotics for both cats, then a stool sample for one. The cost came out to a little over $400, but honestly it was worth it. My cats are feeling better, and they even called the next day to check on them! Overall, a satisfying experience. Thank you for taking such great care of my fur babies!! ❤
DR Smith is great! She loves animals and has a very Big heart. My dog had gotten attacked by My neighbors dog who came into My property without permission. He attacked My Chihuahua and it almost died from puncture wounds and lacerations. Dr Smith told us it didn't look good for my dog. That she would try to do everything in her hands possible to save him from dying. She did tests and gave him prescrption for pain and for infection. She had to do a laser surgery procedure. That same day going home we noticed he was doing much better. She even called us a few days later to check up on him to see how he was doing. She is a very caring person and I feel blessed For her taking care of My dogs recovery. He Made it! Thanks to Dr Smith. Dr Smith is an A+ in My book!
I understand that the appointments are so that the doctor and the patient do not waste time and are treated with respect. I have come for a couple of years. I arrived at 2:40 at my appointment at 2:45 pm ... after me, 3 patients arrived and they passed them to the rooms before my dog, why?.. I dont know. They passed me to room # 3 at 3:35, the doctor arrived at 4:00, the doctor took 7 minutes to see my dog... I no longer wanted to waste my time there, I left the room at 4:40 pm ... I'm going to look for a doctor who is respectful and with a better service... the service in this place is disgusting. I lost 2 hours, I do not recommend the treatment I received from anyone.
I would NEVER take another animal here. I took my 6 month old puppy that was sick. He tested positive for parvo, they told me he was sick and gave me the option to take him home and nurse him back to health. I agreed under one condition, I did not want to take him home, for my kids to watch him die. The Dr informed me that he was sick but she felt like he could beat this with some TLC and the meds I spent $600 on. I took him home at 5pm he died in my daughters arms the same day at 9pm. You can not tell me the Dr and techs did not know he was that sick! I am disgusted with the level of care my puppy did not recieve! All they wanted was that $600
So I already have bad history with vet clinics being unreliable and I'm steamed b/c that is exaclty what happened to me today. I scheduled my dogs for a specific service they offer and I made it very clear the day I scheduled what I needed and they were helpful and made an appointment. I show up to my appointment and no one is in house that does specificly what I asked for, what my appointment is booked for....how did this happen? They don't know. I work nights and to add to the pot my dog gets terrible car sickness. So bad for me and bad for her. I won't tell you not to go here, I'm sure they are good at what they do but they did not come thru for me today.
I'm kind of torn on this review. For the most part the service is good and the vets seem knowledgeable. But there is one lady at the front counter who always seems to be in a bad mood, never smiles, and can be very short. While waiting to see the vet, I told her I was going to take my dogs out front for a minute or two. I noticed they were antsy and needed to pee. She basically told me "well if you have to" or something snarky to that effect. Once I got in to see the vet the staff at that point is friendly and welcoming. The ill-tempered lady is probably good at her job, but perhaps isn't the right person for a customer service role.
Wow! The vets & staff are so friendly!! I was referred to this place and honestly, was a little scared to take my 14 year old female mini schnauzer here. I need a vet clinic who’s staff is going to care for her as a senior & they went above my expectations! They were clean, safe/caring with her & the prices were really good. They seemed just as happy as I was when her Senior exam resulted in her being in great health for her age. We will def. be back when vaccines come up again. I would suggest this clinic for ANY pet owner that doesn’t want to pay over the top & also wants to make sure their furry loved ones are handled with care.
Clean, Professional, Caring, Affordable. From my initial call, Susan was professional and Very Informative. Dr. Horton and the Vet Tech who processed us were , Kind, Gentle, and Professional. Dr. Horton conducted a throughout examination of my pet. She explained all treatment options, and the Vet Tech explained what the charges would be. She also conducted my pets first treatment, as a demonstration for me over the next ten days. The office is clean as well as the exam rooms. The office made a follow up call the next day on my pets condition and progress. I have no reservation in recommending this Veterinary Clinic and Dr. Horton.
Today I took my cat to get spayed. I was given an estimate, and when I picked up my cat it was 89.00 more. When I brought this up to the want to be Tech. at the counter, she gave me attitude. She should not be working with customers. She needs to be working in a prison as a guard. I live on Social secuity so any dollar amount that is over what I was quoted is important. Why would a company hire such a toxic person to work with customer? On a positive side, the Dr. Was very compassionate, and detailed in explaining what was done and the after care after the cats surgery. Hope you don’t get this blond rude girl To help you out.
I recently switched to A Pet’s Choice and couldn’t be happier. With two older pets I needed a vet who was more thorough and caring. These guys are first rate From the ease of check-in, online scheduling and the care for a stress free experience for both pet & owner. Dan the Vet Tech takes ample time to explain what they will be doing. And Dr. Brilley was meticulous when examining my fur baby. They are prompt at keeping appointment times and do their best to control the waiting experience. It’s clear that the pet’s experience is a pleasant one. I’m thrilled to have found them and highly recommend.
I have taken my pets here for 25 years. They have always been fairly priced and extremely friendly until this past year. I have been extremely disappointed with them. They misquote me prices on the phone and they are constantly trying to get me to do tests and procedures I don’t want. This last time was the final straw. It was the third time in a row I had gone on and they had charged me twice what they quoted. I also feel that the vet herself does not listen to me when I talk to her. Never thought I’d have to switch and extremely sad that I do but they seem to be all about money now.
After my dog's longtime vet clinic shut down, we were in vet clinic limbo. Our temporary vet was booked up when my senior dog recently experienced a UTI, so they recommended us to A Pet's Choice Vet Care and WE ARE SO HAPPY THEY DID!!! They we're able to see us very quickly, they were so friendly with my senior dog (one of their team members, Amanda, went the extra mile by helping to carry my senior dog from the car to the exam room, bc my old pup has trouble walking). I have since been 3 times, and each time they are welcoming and hospitable. We now have our new vet clinic <3
Wonderful clinic whom has been awesome with our Trixie. Thank you for taking good care of her. The ONLY issue we have is your 78209 pricing for a 6-month old canine spay cost. $700.00 is a little over 3x's the cost of the exact same surgery. When I called this morning, you provided a list of "why's" to justify the cost. e.g. EKG, Doctor checks on patient every 5 minutes, before and after surgery med's, anesthesia, etc. The list you provided is EXACTLY what any reputable vet offers. Again - thank you for taking good care of our pup. But no thanks on the $700.00 spay cost.
I've been taking my pets here for years and have always received the best care for my pets. My daughter recently got a cat (Bubba) who we took in for an exam and vaccines. Amanda the vet tech was great! She went above and beyond for us. We asked her so many questions during the exam and she was very helpful from the time we stepped foot in the exam room till the time we left. I feel at ease bringing my pets here knowing people like Amanda work here. A pet's choice will always be my go to I wouldn't trust my fur babies with just anybody. Here I know they're in good hands.
Everything has been great, start to finish. They answer their phone every time I call. They check you in, so all you have to do is sit down and focus on your fur baby. The nurse gave me all the information on a pre-made receipt and went through what it all meant, so I can make the best decision. And the doctor was just as sweet. The membership was a great deal for a new puppy who was in great health and needs a ton of vaccines in his/her first few months. And the follow up with you to ensure your fur baby feels fine after a vaccine appointment. Thank you ladies!!
Words cannot express how I feel about this veterinary office and the amazing people who work here. From the day I brought in my beloved chihuahua Rocco, they have shown compassion and dedication to his wellbeing. Sadly my Rocco had a cancerous tumor, Dr. Grilley gave us all our options and was supportive of the path we chose for him. I feel like they truly cared about him. When we had to say goodbye, They were truly amazing helping us through the difficult process. This will be the only place I take my pets going forward knowing they will be well taken care of.
This clinic is great! We took in our 6 wk old puppies for their shots and I was very impressed with their service. They were all very kind and polite. The clinic was very clean and very nice. And I must add, very affordable. The tech that took care of us was very informative. She explained everything she was doing in detail. She gave us information about further exams that would be needed. And she gave us time to ask any questions that we might have and was very well with answering them. I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone.
I love this vet clinic. My family and I have been bringing my animals here since I was about 10. The staff is always so sweet and friendly and never makes you feel judge. As soon as you walk in you’re greeted with friendly faces. I’ve never had a bad experience at this clinic. Dr. Grilled was very professional and empathetic. The assistants jada and mads are some of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. They made me feel safe enough to open up about this rough year I’ve had. Definitely will be recommending to all my friends and family!
I highly recommend Affordable Pet Care! Dr. Horton is amazing! The staff is awesome! I wouldn't trust anyone else with my pets health except Affordable Pet Care. I know when I bring my pets in their in good hands. I have senior pets so when I first bought my oldest dog brownie. Doctor Horton was there every step of the way. She informed me on his condition and treatment. I'm truly greatful that I have more time with my little guy.Thank you Doctor Horton and staff we appreciate everything you do. Brownie and Junior thank you too
I want to personally thank you for the care and concern My Dog Chance received. My puppy was very ill, and we had taken him to another facility where the doctor walked in and said" oh he's still alive," My heart was so crushed at this comment. However, the Doctor and staff at your facility were very welcoming and kind, and extremely empathetic. The Nurse thoroughly explained each step, and even addressed my concerns over the phone. My Chance made a full recovery, and is the absolute joy of our family!!! Thanks again, Free Family
This is a hard one to write. My cat was seen here since day 1 then his Dr. passed away and we decided on a vet closer to us. Well the day came where it looked like we had to put my cat down. His "regular" vet didn't have availability so we took him back here. The staff were so great as I was breaking down. My baby is no longer in pain and it is thanks to this practice (I knew them as Affordable Pets) then I was sent a card in the mail with a paw print from my cat (the day he passed) signed by all of the staff. It ment Alot.
Affordable Pet Care is not a good long term vet for your pets. They will not build a relationship with you and they are very focused on rules, policies and fees. Every call requires a new "exam" if another vet did the exam, they will not accept it. if you are a day late on a refill they will require another exam. Most people that work with animals seem to really care about animals but Affordable Pet Care does not give off this vibe. The original vet retired a few years ago and the quality has gone down since that time.
Hi, I had a 22 year old Female Chihuahua that had met her own life expectancy, as they usually life 14, to 16 years. I had to take her to be properly, and compassionatly euthanized. It is Very hard to let go of a part of my family for 22 years. Iaisa was born on my B Day along with her lettermate Coco. Affordable Pet has been my Vet for the entire lifespan of my fur babies. They were very Helpful, Compassionate and made this process much easier to navigate gor me. I Highy recommend them. Thank you, Affordable Pet Care.
They nickel and dime you. They refuse to give your dog medication or care without a checkup on every single visit. A month behind on your heartworm or flea medicine and want to get a refill online? Not so fast! Come in and pay us for an examination before we okay a basic prescription from an online provider. I've been told my dog has Lyme's disease and impacted tooth which needed immediate care, when in fact this wasn't the case. Friendly people. Quick service. But man, it really is all about the money for these guys.
Clean office, spacious, polite employees. It's great that they tell you prices up front, but this is hardly "affordable". I spent nearly $400 on diagnostics for my German Shepherd and the vet tried to talk me into a $180 immunotherapy injection for his allergies. When results came back clear for a UTI, they tried to get me to purchase $85 worth of meds for bladder irritation instead. I did not like Dr. Graham's bedside manner. Also, I prefer to know the names of the meds you're trying to sell me, not just the prices.
I've been taking my pets to Affordable for 20+ years. Unfortunately, they are no longer affordable. They are now charging for approving an RX that is not from their preferred pharmacy, ie they don't get a kick back from. Additionally, they refused to give me a prescription for my dogs for anxiety for the 4th of July unless I took them in and paid $20 each, even though the dogs had just been seen the previous month. Nickle and diming long term customers is not acceptable. Looking for a new vet for my three dogs.
On the surface, I was initially very pleased with the customer service and the willingness to work with our budget. After they charged us the agreed amount they came out with a quote for 5 times the amount. Yes, I said 5x's. Needless to say, I haven't gotten over the sticker shock. That does not mean that is where we ended, just that is where we are now. I still really appreciate the wonderful staff. After all was said and done, we were extremely pleased with the results.
People are awesome here! I took my cat because she had an emergency and they were good with her. She had to be put down because of kidney disease and they were really good about explaining the process and giving us the time to say our goodbyes. After a couple of weeks we receive a card telling us how sorry they were for our loss and it was sing by everyone in this office! We appreciate everything and I hope this review help people find a caring veterinarian!
After a year and a half of grief therapy, medication, and therapy for the loss of my dog.....I decided to change my negative review. Veterinarians go through so many emotions that their suicide rate us up there with police. I never knew this. So...I was mad at the rude front office staff...and yes..they were curt. But the doctor and staff helped me during the hardest thing I've EVER had to do in my life.. putting down my boy after 15 wonderful years.
Been coming here for years since my dog was a puppy but not after today. Supposedly I never showed up for 2 appointments(which is not true). So now they charge me a $50 deposit to make a appointment every time. I had a appointment today and my car wouldn’t start. Called and they said I would not be getting the $50 back. I can’t help my car not starting. this place just showed me all they care about is the money. I’ll be looking for a new vet now
It was good for the price. It was a pretty basic in and out appointment. We got her shots updated and were sent on our way. This was a new clinic choice, referred to me by a hairstylist, and our first visit. Immediate appointment availability, no long wait, clean, no bad pet smell, and fast and friendly service. I will definitely take my pet back for future services. Thank you for the quick, prompt and attentive services. See you soon.
The technicians were very polite. Especially the youg lady came to get my Phobe out of the car since I'm disabled. I had to help my 18yr old dog cross the rainbowbridge that day. She was gentle in my situation and gave me the patience indeed at that moment. The vet was also sympathetic with me and my baby....I wasn't ready to her go but I knew Phobe was in alot of pain...everyone was so good with me...I plan to go back again...
Words can not express the gratitude our family has for the doctors and everyone we encountered today. We had to have our extremely sick doggy put to sleep. The vet and the techs were extremely gentle and loving. They were able to give us an appointment at the last minute. They gave us as much time as we needed to say goodbye to Chloe, not rushing us at all. As sad a day as it was, they made it a little less painful.
This place was amazing and moderately priced for people who do not qualify for free or discounted spay/neuter services. My cat is healing up very nicely from her spay with embedded stiches. The staff was attentive and very friendly. I would go back here again for regular services if it wasn't farther than my usual vet's office. Overall, a good place for little furry family members and their families.
They are very patient with my pets. My boy has pretty bad anxiety, and they did very well with him. I really appreciate how they inform you on what they recommend and cost, and let you decide what you can afford. I went to one other vet office, and they just did everything to my girl and gave me a $500 vet bill. So glad i switched to this one.
The staff were sooo patient and loving towards my big baby of a Husky. I know he's adorable but they were going out of their way to make him comfortable. The only complaint i think I have would be a more approachable check in and check out staff. They looked annoyed. It was almost five so i get it. Other than that I highly recommend this place.
I took my Bella in because she had an infection in her uterus. I explained the situation to the staff and gave them the details from the ER and they were able to fit me in quickly. Those that know this infection could have killed my pup. Although the cost was high I was thankful for the care she received and the education given by the doctor.
NOT AFFORDABLE This place has pretty alright (mediocre) customer service, but like other reviews, it really is all about the money for them. Charged me 180 for a urinalysis, but I got curious and called another reputable place that would do it for 130. Always try to up-sell on procedures and medications that are completely unnecessary.
Prices are very reasonable. The name literally holds true to the price of service. I have a small Chihuahua puppy so that maybe the reason for my bill to be a little low but they take walk ins and can work you in pretty fast. The vet is very knowledgeable and nice. She also rewards your fur baby with a treat after they're treatments.
The vet here is excellent. She always calls to follow up on our dog’s well being after a visit. The staff are professional and friendly. We got our puppy all of her basic vaccinations here, and we would continue going here if we didn’t recently move to Dallas. This place is great, especially if you don’t have pet insurance.
I had to say goodbye to my Duke today after 9 of the greatest years I could have had with a fur kid. The staff helped make it as comfortable for the both of us as possible. I really appreciate that. I know he passed on to the forever fields peacefully and that is the only thing that made this bearable. Thank y'all so much.
We have been going to this clinic for over five years. At first we were seeing Dr. Blevins who is a wonderful vet. However, now we are seeing someone else who has been wonderful as well. The staff is friendly and welcoming when you arrive. Also the wait to be seen has never been longer than 20 minutes.
Had emergency with my cat Diva. They Took excellent care of her and kept in touch via telephone about their findings and how I want to proceed. Very professional and gave me peace of mind knowing I went to the right place. Diva is home and feeling herself again. I'd give them 10 stars if I could …
After taking my pets to this place for more than 10 years,I have to look for another Vet,one of the front desk ladies was very rude I don’t know what happened but everything change at this place the front desk ladies forgot that thanks to all the people that take their pets there they have a job.
They took our down payment and we unfortunately got stuck in traffic, if your even a few minutes late the doctor will refuse to see you. We tried calling ahead and they were just all "cold business tone" no compassion for a poor pup. There's other vets that care about pets first then money.
2021: New Patient. The staff explained everything! . They took great care of Ellie Mae. Nurses & Dr (surgeon actually) kept in contact with me throughout her appointment. And brought her back to me, when she was finished. I feel like I paid a fair price, for services. I am super happy.
This place used to be all about the service/care for our pets/family. Now they nickel and dime you every chance they get. Miscommunication TWICE by staff... I have been going to this place for years... now with all the changes.. it's time to find a new veterinary .... one that cares.
Such a wonderful and friendly staff. At Affordable Pet Care they are very informative and give you tips on the best route of care for your fur baby. The staff is very professional and proficient. I absolutely love it here and am so glad I found this place for my little pups.
For cytopoint they charge me 77$ for the veterinarian to say yeah he needs it...then you are now allowed to pay the 90$ for the allergy shot...this goes on twice a year...on the otherside of the coin they do overtreat along with the overcharging...we do love our dogs...
I really don’t think they did anything at all but charged me over $300. The animal was supposedly given 2 shots but I doubt it. If you don’t want to pay over $500/visit they’ll gladly charge you $300 to kill your animal but they won’t help it. Not affordable whatsoever
Took my cat to get neutered and the service was excellent. They did a pick up at my car on their parking lot because of Covid and workers wore their masks while interacting. Prices are competitive and I was able to find an appointment available within the same week.
Took Tiger to be seen, they gave me an appointment the same day. The moment I walked in I was acknowledge, very welcoming environment! The staff was very nice and explained everything to me about Tiger's paw infection, and what they recommended …
We’ve been bringing our pets to APC for 30+ years. There were a few bumps along the way with Covid accommodations and ownership transitions, but nothing that wasn’t quickly solved. APC staff have always been patient, attentive, honest, and compassionate.
Spoke to Catalina today as I had concerns regarding appointments, medication and pet medical history and she was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Made the whole process easy! A great representation of the staff! Definitely deserves a raise!
I took my friends dog there a few weeks ago and I wanted to give them a great review because they eased my friends worry and were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Shout out to Dr. Grilley and Mads. Great office with great customer service.
Dr Haynes and Sam the technician did excellent work had a few questions about dog food and she answered everything I I asked and then Sam gave me some paperwork on different kind of dog food what's best what to look for I appreciate everything
Kept my appointment time. No waiting (with appointment). The price was reasonable. Lab results came back quickly. They didn't try to upsell me on unnecessary services. Managed my expectations well. Friendly and professional
So so nice!! Everything went quick and the employees were so nice. Loved our vet. She explained everything we needed to get a pup certified to fly in cargo. Was surprised by such a nice setup in the waiting room as well.
Took my kitty to get fixed and he apparently acted like a brat, but the ladies were awesome with him. By the time he left, of course he had their hearts. Thank you Affordable Pet Care for taking care of my little man.
7 years ago they got 5 stars from me, and they get another 5 stars today. That's 10 stars. I drove for 45 minutes, past dozens of vet offices. They treat you like family, genuine care for their clients. I trust them.
Not affordable!!! I called for a dental estimate on my pet and the rates were much higher than other places I requested an estimate for...? They might be great, but I didn't book because the rates seemed excessive.
Kind and knowledgeable staff. Very patient in explaining all details of a visit. Sent great appointment reminders, and even a welcome card in the mail! This will be my primary vet for my kittens Sherbert & Sheba!
Vets and vet tech are very nice , office is clean, office staff is prompt. As far as pricing pretty affordable. There waiting area is awesome I like that they have a cat waiting area and a dog waiting area.
Everyone here was super nice and friendly! They were straight forward with the information concerning my dog and even saved me aone money. I will recommend them to anyone that needs veterinary services!
I took my cat Punkin here he got his rabies shots. They were very friendly and answered all questions that I inquired about. I recommend this clinic it’s affordable, and on the workers are very nice.
I got a new puppy, Pepper is her name. I was looking for a Veterinarian and they were recommended. So we took the leap. They are pricey. Everyone here is awesome and treated us both with kindness.
The location is a bit yuk. Otherwise, the place is GREAT! The staff is amazing, w/ people & animals! They work with you on saving $$. The health of your pet is their top priority!! …
The staff here are really nice. They will welcome you with a smile and treat you and your pet like family. Pricing is decent for the services. Clean and professional.
The staff are very polite. Especially MADS she is very professional and explained everything that I needed to know about Buddy! Dr.McLean is awesome very nice!
This is my second time taking my dog Hank here. The staff are all real friendly and knowledgeable and the prices are indeed affordable. Will be back again.
I love this place! I drive an hour every month to pick up my dogs prescription, and it so worth it because the staff are amazing and they make it so easy!
My family and I have been going to this vet for 20 plus years. The whole staff is friendly and always helpful. I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else
Did a great job helping my kitty with an ear infection. Even called the next day to see how he was. Prices are a bit steep, but what ya gonna do...
I have been going to this veterinary clinic for over 20 years and they are the very Best. Everyone is very professional, kind and compassionate.
Have been taking my pets for years, and they've always taken really good care of us. Plus the prices are affordable like their title suggests
Glen Ashley was super nonchalant didn’t care about seeing my pup, old location was way better service wise this place is unprofessional
They were super caring with my dog, gave me tips for better food etc. my experience has been great especially with Mads & Dr. Hanes
The staff as friendly and professional. They were good with my dog and there was very little wait time before we were seen.
Very helpful and affordable vet. We’ve been taking our pets here for years and they love everyone that works here.
This place rocks. Sweet, attentive, and all-together wonderful people that me and my dog are happy to see again.
Everyone was so nive and friendly. Really made me and my fur baby feel at ease with trusting them with his care
They went from affordable pet care (a p c) to a pets choice (a p c) Not too sure if they're still affordable.
How do you call yourself AFFORDABLE PET when you charge $660 dollars to neuter a 35 pound dog???
Vet took care to understand my dog. Reasonable prices for good service.
My little kitty was not doing well. He's a+ now!
