I am super sad to give a poor review to ABQ Petcare because they had been a trusted vet for a few years. However, the past two visits resulted in no diagnosis for my pet, not alternative steps, a botched discharge without instructions and no follow-up calls. I was sent home after failed attempts to get a urine test for my pet with the expectation that I was supposed to get it at home, but I was given no non-absorbent litter, no amount to catch, and no instructions. The techs and the vet both rushed through our appointments. Because we had to return a second time for the same problem within a week, I had to go through the process twice which resulted in the same process- they didn't get a sample, sent me home to try and catch it myself, and no next-steps or alternatives. Plus the vet spoke to me in the lobby, with everyone else there and all the animal noises, phone calls, etc. It was distracting and didn't feel like my pet was important. My pet did not get better with the medicine and no diagnosis was made. I ended up taking the pet to an emergency vet who was able to provide alterative care options, rehydrate the pet, and obtain a urine sample, and who ALSO told me the medicine ABQ Petcare prescribed for my pet was out of date and could potentially make the condition worse! I wasted $1000 at ABQ Petcare to only end up at an emergency vet. That is incredibly disappointing.

All of the vets here are great, especially Dr. Young. She’s helped us a great deal with our dog Shadow who had cancer. Unfortunately there seems to be a growing problem with miscommunication between admin staff and the techs/ vets. I was there with my cat for a nail appointment and recheck. The vet tech was very rude and told me they weren’t expecting to do his nails and they were too busy (Arkham is very timid and doesn’t put up a fight). I told her I had called and specifically asked for it. She said it wasn’t in the notes. I told her that was her problem with the person that took my call and I brought $27 because I had discussed prices at the same time. Additionally, I had to remind them about Shadow’s last exam date to get her Rx refilled every month. On Shadow’s last day, I had called to see if they could take her in as an emergency because she was losing lots of blood through diarrhea. I was told no, their appointments were full…. Which is insane because we’ve waited on our appointments before because an emergency case had taken priority. After taking her to Thrive the situation went further downhill. I called again to see if they could do her Euthanasia before they closed. Again I was told no. I love the doctors here but I can’t justify going here anymore. They’ve lost my trust.

Pre-pandemic, I had no complaints about this veterinary clinic. During the mandated shutdowns, one of our cats fell ill, and I truly believe they did their best for him despite only being able to serve us curbside. When we finally made the heartbreaking choice to put him down, they were very sweet and compassionate, even sending us a nice condolence card a few days later. Fast forward to today; we’ve been bringing in our other cat for heart health and dental issues. They are still asking you to remain in your vehicle while they retrieve your pet and take them inside for treatment. I understand it may be more comfortable for the technicians, but my cats are my family, and if there’s no legitimate reason why I can’t be there to hold their paw, then I’d prefer to do it. Aside from loosing some of her test results, and having to reschedule several times, my biggest issue comes from what occurred today after my cat’s appointment. After the routine checkup, they kept her inside for almost half an hour, literally holding her hostage over a $60 payment that for some reason wasn’t going through on their end. I really didn’t appreciate that. That’s not how it works. You’ll get your money from us. You always have. But I’m sorry to say this will probably be the last time we visit this office.

If you love your pets don't take them here!!!! It's a read but if you LOVE your pets PLEASE read, ABQ Pet Care only cares about over charging and harming your pets. I foolishly took two different pets here believing some people have bad days, well not here it's all bad days. My first pet they deformed his scale due to being to rough, my second pet is what really drew the line. I brought my rat in and the first thing they do is use full size thermometer on her she is 10 weeks old mind you, then the vet picks her up by the trail! To get her out of the cage causing her to scream and after 2 days still won't eat or drink after the visit with them and the trauma it caused, she was getting better until I brought her here. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T BRING YOUR PETS HERE!!! They don't care about your pets at all they are the worst, the candid response they will come back to if you take the time to read this and other negative post is the same. These people have been desensitized so only see your pets as $$$$$. If I could give 0 stars I would.

If you love your pet don’t even call, and if you already take your pet here, run. Our little kitten, Steph Purry’s tail got degloved, it is a nasty thing to happen and required amputation, but a quick google search shows that it is a simple procedure and will cost you an average of $600. We took him to the VCA because it was a Sunday and nobody was open and they overcharged us. We called around and ABQ Pet “Care” Hospital seemed like the best bet for him. They let us talk to the surgeons technician and get a quote before bringing him in for the consultation. They said they wouldn’t charge more than $775 for the amputation, anesthesia, everything. I took him in for what I was told was going to be a $65 plus tax consultation, they came back with a bill of $175 saying it was because they cleaned and changed his bandages. Okay whatever, that’s fine I don’t want an infection. They email me the amputation quote. I’m expecting what they said, $775. Nope. Multiply by 2, then add an extra $400. You can look at the quote and the email I sent after.

I highly recommend ABQ Pet Care! My fur baby Patches is getting older and needed a check up and a dental cleaning. He’s a little chihuahua and has a big personality, during his checkup they addressed a problem with blood in his urine which ended up being a urinary tract infection and I’m so glad they were able to give him the antibiotics he needed. A few weeks later we took him for a dental cleaning and he had to have a few teeth pulled which I was very worried about being a possibility but they took such good care of him and helped him to feel better and keep his teeth healthy. I was beyond impressed with the care he received and trust that he is in very good hands with the staff. Our pets are our children and the staff take that very serious and I appreciate how much they care. Very reasonable prices as well!! I live in Santa Fe and unfortunately the vets here aren’t taking new clients and are very expensive. I am so blessed to have found ABQ Pet Care. They were able to get him in quickly and help him in every way needed!

They take your pet to the back without you. The vet then comes out to go over what he/she feels is the best treatment. Then someone comes out to give you price quotes and has you decided what you’re willing to let them do. It being a $900 or $700 or $226 in the amount of care your pet receives depends on your pocket book. Being a single mom not having the money to spare had to do the &226 with NO pain medication for my fur babie. When all was done I was handed a receipt no instructions or signs to look out for. Had to remind receptionist that I needed a follow up appointment that she was unaware of to even make the follow up appointment. The cost outrageous for the little concern of the well being of my animal let alone not allowing me to be by his side to see any care was given. They do have the means to treat your animal if you have the big bucks to pay.

Absolutely fantastic service! The staff was nice and helpful and you could tell from the moment they interacted with the animals that they love their jobs and truly care for the well-being of the animals. They were patient and willing to answer any questions and concerns that I had; furthermore, they provided me with excellent resources on how to further help my bearded dragon feel his best and continue to grow strong and stay healthy. I saw Dr. Key and she was amazing and extremely kind and helpful and also advised me to call whenever I had a question or was concerned about anything. I will definitely be returning to this location for check-ups or anything else!

Everyone in this office was very friendly, helpful, and efficient at giving my elderly cat the care he needed. They squeezed him in the next day after I called to schedule an appointment. I got good vibes as soon as I walked in and was warmly greeted by the woman at the front desk. The vet tech and vet were also really nice and I felt like they actually listened to my concerns about my cat who suffers from an unusual and challenging disorder, unlike some vets in the past. They handled him gently and quickly gave him the medication he needed. He is doing so much better since I brought him in!

When you have people that not only are passionate about what they do, but they are amazing caring people, it makes everything 1000x better. I take my two pups with Dr. Ortiz, and my mom takes her dog with Dr. Young. They both have been there for us when it gets hard. They have been AMAZING! They help you understand what is going on and help you make the best decision. Even on days where they don’t work, they will make sure that our pups are taken care of. Their staff is also AMAZING! I have been coming for about 3 years and each experience has been great!

I've been here twice for my leopard gecko, and both visits have been great experiences. Both times they've asked for a follow up appointment to make sure he's improved- didn't even charge me extra either. The first time there, I wasn't really aware of the cost about vet visits but they were super accommodating! The second time I came with a tighter budget that they were able to work with as well. It's tough to find an exotic vet too so I'm grateful I found this place and that they take such good care of my lil gecko!!!

I've known Dr. Ortiz for many years and was fortunate to have her available to take in my Basset Hound, Roosevelt. He had his teeth cleaned for the first time so there was a couple of extractions he needed. Happy there was no complications and he was well taken care of! Pricing is better compared to the other Vet I was established at first with my other basset hound (locked in a membership) but I would definitely recommend this place and Dr. Ortiz! Roosevelt now has pearly whites!

Dr Young and the staff here are amazing. My baby boy Aries was in bad shape and I was fearing the worst. Their amazing care and dedication to animals really made such a difference. I’ve never had a veterinary experience of this caliber. Everyone that I interacted with was exceptional. My boy is safely home and I’m sure is missing all the love from the sweet staff. Thank you so much for everything you do! This is the only veterinary office I will use from now on.

My 11mo pup was very sick and they took her in without an appointment. After finding out that she had parvo, everyone here did everything they could to help her AND me. They were kind, knowledgeable, and very comforting. I was able to take my baby home with since supplies for home care and she is feeling great! I thought we were going to lose her and ABQ petcare hospital brought this hyper little brat back. So very grateful for these amazing people.

My rabbit stopped eating and going to the bathroom which is incredibly dangerous for them. We called vets and emergency vets all over Santa Fe and Albuquerque and no one would take her. They agreed to take her even though they were busy. Dr. Young was amazing and didn’t run unnecessary tests since she was already on antibiotics. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will definitely drive the hour and a half for future check ups and dentals!

Staff were great with our 88lb pit bull! He had an issue with his eye so they were able to do a full optical exam to make sure it wasn't a scratch or ulcer. Thankfully(?) It was just conjunctivitis and we can treat it with cream and do a re-check in 10 days. They also offered some good supplemental services to do blood work, dental, etc which was great to just know whats going on with your pet if they haven't been seen in awhile.

They show concern and compassion each time my pup has had an emergency or seni-emergenxy injury. They have had fully scheduled days when they have worked her in. They are all good, caring people from the ones working the front desk to the techs to the vets. I'm so glad to have found them as that had not been my experience here in Albuquerque until then. Thank you ABQ Petcare for taking such good care of my fur baby.

Going to ABQ Petcare hospital is a wonderful experience. You cannot find a more caring practice, with doctors staff and technicians who receive every kind of pet, from birds and Guinea pigs to huge dogs. My cat who is quite elderly now has had very complicated surgeries and just normal care with deep care and experience. I would urge anyone with a pet to go there. They can do it all with superb customer service.

My dog and I traveled to ABQ to visit with my mom. My dog developed an eye issue and my hometown vet recommended that we see an ABQ vet. The staff were able to get us an appointment within 2 days. The staff were kind and empathic. I felt as if Dr Sun did a thorough exam & gave me clear instructions for home care. Hopefully, we won't have another issue, but if we did, we will definitely call AbQ Pet Care

I was referred by a friend to see Dr Young. She was very attentive and very informative on the next steps on getting my doberman healthy again. She was was up front with all the costs which was very nice and she really truly cares for your pets best interests. I would recommend Dr Young to all my friends and family. Super helpful staff even when my pup was a little nervous the very first visit. The second visit he was so excited to see the staff. They even called to checkup after his surgery. Very convenient location and they aren’t booked out for months like everywhere else. I would definitely trust them with your animal. Would and will be recommending.

I met with Dr. Bays, who was very nice and quite informative. She provided several options regarding the testing for my dog’s diabetes. When the Fructosamine test comes back she said will contact me regarding treatment. Everyone at ABQ Petcare Hospital is very helpful and courteous and showed a lot of empathy towards my little buddy.

I brought my cat Jelly Bean because he has blood in his stool. This veterinarian clinic is fair and does not try to charge you for procedures your pet might not need. Instead, they do deductive triaging in steps that make sense and provide a future action plan and possible treatment expense sheet. They are also nice staff/people.

Dr. Ortiz and her associates provided a great experience for both my dog, Rosco, and I. It’s never easy discovering new health issues with a senior dog but it’s clear that Dr. Ortiz, Sydney the vet tech, and everyone at ABQ Pet Care truly do care about their patients and offer the best path forward for our furry friends!

This is one of the best Vet hospitals I've ever been to. My kitties are always very well taken care of, costs are explained in detail so you always know exactly how much it's going to be before visits and procedures, so there's never any surprise costs. And I can't rave enough about Dr Ortiz. She's simply the best!

The exotic veterinarian was so knowledgeable and very thorough with her exam on my guinea pig. They called the day after his appointment to make sure he was okay and that I had no questions.If you have a small exotic animal I recommend you bring them here they will be well taken care of in my experience!

The staff is compassionate, patient and understanding. Prices are actually affordable and they offer a variety of options other than JUST spend 3500 dollars or put your pet down. They loved my pet as much as I do and there’s an amazing comfort in knowing they truly care and aren’t just a payment.

I brought in my 16 year old tortie, and she is not a nice cat at vet appointments. I was really nervous but it was nice that we get to stay in the car until they are ready for her. When she came back she didn't seem distressed at all. She purred when I petted her and was still eating treats.

We have been so impressed with Dr. Young and all the amazing staff at ABQ Petcare! Dr. Young is SO knowledgeable and helpful - and our pup never even knows when he gets his shots she’s so quick! The rest of the staff is calm and welcoming and our pup just adores them. Highly recommend!

I took my new puppy in for his shots and overall check-up. Dr. Young is wonderful. She answered all my questions since I hadn’t raised a puppy in many years. She and the staff were also good to my schnauzer when he got sick. Unfortunately the cancer wasn’t curable. Great place!

I had to make an emergency stop while on a road trip. Every interaction I had from the first phone call to the check out was warm, kind and accommodating. I am so grateful to have found this place and cannot recommend it enough to anyone that needs care for their furry friends.

Been taking my cat to ABQ Pet Care Hospital since I adopted her earlier this year. They successfully treated her for a dental issue, a mild infection, and a minor paw problem. Also found it easier to make appointments here than at other vets in town. Very satisfied!

My blue ended uo getting parvo andhas beem there two days so far but have gotten pleasant updates and everyone has been super sweet and have made me feel comfortable about the situation and their care.
