I attended Above 8 in early May. To say that I was disappointed would be an understatement. The Venue itself is really beautiful however the staff were very inexperienced and that really impacted our night. The DJ on the night was rude and played mind numbing music and when asked to play other tunes simple didn't not respond. I was at a 50th gathering and we had the cake and sang Happy Birthday the Birthday girl tried to give a quick thankyou to her guests, I asked the DJ to just turn down the music just while she spoke but instead he turned it up! So rude. When I complained to the manager on the night she replied "This wasn't booked as a Private Function" However, our 35 or so women were the only ones in the venue spending money there was no one else anywhere near where we were gathered. The food and drinks were expensive and the food was really bad $26.00 for a cheese burger, literally a bun with a meat paddy and cheese. And it wasn't even a good tasting burger. My table had pizzas and they were really ordinary under cooked and soggy. The wine we chose our waitress couldn't find we waited 1/2 hour or so only to be asked to pick another bottle. At the end of the night we had to pay by table as the bar closed after two hours and went to table service. Everyone was so over the lack of service and rudeness of the DJ that we decided to go downstairs to the Club part of the venue. The security guard at the lifts refused to let us go down there implying that we were all over the limit (impossible as you couldn't get a drink). I told him that I had had 2 drinks since 5pm and it was now 9.45pm but he insisted I had red eyes and was told to leave. The final straw was that when we had all paid for our bills and had left the venue the Birthday girl was called by the bar staff and told that someone hadn't paid for their table and that she needed to come up and settle the $315.00 bill which she did. I sent an email the next day as all the guest had paid and had proof of the payments made all with Credit Cards. I asked for copies of all the table bills which they sent and in fact they had charged the wrong people for the wrong tables and had absolutely no idea who had ordered what. I contacted the manager by email about this and told her about the stuff up and the overall nightmare of a night we had there. No refund was given to the Birthday girl and no explanation in regard to the lack of service/rudeness by the DJ or the security guard on that night. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK THERE! and will NEVER recommend anyone to go.

Above 8 Rooftop Bar & Lounge mixes a chic indoor lounge with lots of natural light provides a bright and welcoming atmosphere. The open air terrace equipped with comfy sofas and fireplaces offers a fantastic setting to enjoy the view. I had a warm entree to start off the meal. It was a plate of pan fried scallops, tempura eggplants & crispy prosciutto on a bed of hand made noodles in XO sauce. The presentation was excellent, it was modern and refined. Loved the hand made noodles, they had a nice bouncy texture and the crispy prosciutto gave a nice textural contrast to the dish but I didn’t enjoy the dish as much as I should because it was very salty. The saltiness of the XO sauce and the prosciutto really dominated the whole dish. Moreover I didn’t like the greasiness of the tempura eggplants. Then I had Gamburi & Nduja Pizza. The dough was on the stiff hard side, not the chewy crust that I love but it had a great flavour. Again it was quite salty with the combination of nduja and brined whole black olives. I would love more prawns on it as some of the slices only got one prawn. Normally you get more prawns in other places. As for dessert, it saved the day. The light and crispy caramelised filo pastry flaked pleasantly with every bite, yuzu parfait was creamy and the matcha crème suisse was velvety soft. The whole dish was light and not overly sweet. Happy ending! I’ll return because of their desserts.

A slice of perfection! From the moment I walked in I was greeted by an aura of warmth & genuine hospitality. The staff at Above 8 were not only attentive, but they went above and beyond to ensure we had an experience which was nothing short of exceptional. The centerpiece of this culinary gem is their authentic pizza oven, which creates the most delectable and aromatic pizza I have ever tasted. Each pizza is expertly crafted with the freshest ingredients, culminating in an explosion of incredible flavours. I stood and curiously watched the chefs make the pizzas, it was very interesting to see the motion of their team working so in tune & precise, everyone was so attentive (including proper techniques for preparing the gluten free pizza for one of our friends). Above 8 is a shining beacon of Italian culinary excellence in Hurstville. I cannot recommend this place highly enough; amazing view, outstanding fresh food & exceptional service, it truly deserves every one of its five stars. A must try! Buon appetito! This is not just any bar and lounge, I am astounded a place of this calibre exists in the Hurstville locale. I came here for an after-works cocktail and instead have been gobsmacked by the quality of food, drink and service. I was not surprised therefore to learn that the head chef originates from the likes of "Bennelong" of the Opera House and has trained under Michelin star chefs. It was apparent from the start the waiters were knowledgeable, attentive and that their managers trained them well to be the best. Attention to detail, creativity and care - how I would summarise the incredible quality of "above 8". I had 5 starter sized dishes and 3 cocktails, every single one was so well balanced, the flavours so well thought out, and the INGREDIENTS! So well sourced and treated. They cure their own meats in house! I am going to be back again and again. I honestly hope you stay and thrive for a long time to come, and receive all the recognition and success you clearly deserve!

We had an unexpected layover in Sydney while awaiting to fly home and were accommodated in travel Lodge by Qantas. This restaurant is in the same building as the travel lodge so we went for a quick dinner here. The service was fantastic and everyone was really friendly and attentive. The food was amazing, I had the ravioli and at first it looks like a small portion but it was just what I needed. Best ravioli I've ever had and I'm vegetarian for 20 years so have tried lots! My husband had the burger which he said was great and the chips were yummy too. This place has a great vibe and although we were under dressed we didn't feel odd or unwelcome. There is a beautiful view but as it was just a flying visit we didn't get to see much. You could see other people getting quirky cocktails which looked yummy. The pizza looks amazing! Prices are reasonable for the view and ambience. Would definitely go back if we were in Sydney again.

The first time was decent, standard service, chill atmosphere. But, the second time, it was horrible. Although, the set up was of a fine dine, the service was bitter than a servo. It was as if I was stealing the food and not paying for it. Basically, you’ll be told to order from the bar and pay upfront (which was not the case the first time), if you need anything you’ll have to walk up and wait for them while the other tables get spoon fed. It was so so soooo daunting, the passive aggressive service, the obvious behind the bar sarcasm. I went up to get my phone back from the bar after charging and the server rolled their eyes as if I did something wrong. I’ve had my bad days working in hospitality and customer service but, never made a customer feel so out of place and humiliated. Maybe the expectations were too high. Don’t recommend.

As a hotel guest, we would like to check out the roof top bar before heading back to room, the moment the lift door open, the security guy was a bit rude to us. Keep asking what are you guys up here for, we explain we are hotel guest and just want to check this place out. He then say so you want drinks or dinner, do you have booking? I repeat I am a hotel guest and just want to check this place out before deciding to have drinks here or not, the security guy is very unwelcoming. He is sort of blocking the lift and don’t allow us to even step out. This place does not looks like a bar, it is more like a restaurant. And as a hotel guest, he made me feels guilty for pressing level 9. Anyway, Mr. Security, I will make sure I won’t press level 9 for the rest of my stay in Travelodge Hurstville.

Amazing experience. Beautiful ambience and great service. We decided to sit outside on cold winter night, craving for some cool air instead the warm recycled air inside. They were so caring and kind to bring us some blankets to keep us warm and their whole hospitality made us feel so cared. I love the whole experience of being there. Food and drinkwise, everything was splendid. As a cocktail lover, I am always up for trying weird concoction and I loved the couple of drinks I had there. All the staff members were very gentle and attentive. My brother who is very hard to please was actually very amazed by the service provided. Thank you very much for making my Friday night amazing and comfortable.

Have to say that the staff were wonderful. The food was very tasty but the menu was quite limited if you did not want pizza. I can imagine that in certain circumstances this would be a fun place to be, but it is quite noisy if there are large parties. One thing to note is that there is NO air-conditioning. We went on a very hot day (of course you don't know that when you book!) The kitchen is open so the pizza ovens and other stoves just added to the heat, as did the doors that were open to the outside. We had to leave before we ordered dessert as we were melting. I felt so sorry for the chefs and the staff.

Second time here and i have to say food is well presented and everything taste good. Bit of a hidden place up the 9th floor of building. Service it's smooth and staff it's friendly. Cocktails are well balanced and definitely worth a try. Pizza by Erasmo it's consistent and flavoursome. As many reviews says it might be pricey for Hurstville standards but you pay for the service and the quality of the food so in the end it's worth spending a little extra for it. Only suggestion i would make is to add few more items on the menu or at least changing them a bit to give customers that return something else to try on. Other than that keep up the good work guy✌️

Celebrated our Valentine’s Day here - had an amazing experience to share. Welcoming service and good food. The scallop XO noodle dish with crispy eggplant tempura is unique and quite good although I would’ve called it hand-cut thick noodle not udon noodle. Ribeye is quite good though a little under-seasoning. The carrot puree is not a good pair, please skip it. Pizza is also alright, wood fired and smoky. Nothing to complained about. The oyster is great. Love love the lime granita - very well paired with fresh oyster. Drinks are cute and fruity. Bottled water comes with a bucket of ice - 1 plus point. The night was fun with live music by Oscar Kami.

I took my partner here for his birthday while we were in town, we both loved the experience! The staff were super friendly and helpful on arrival, we had reserved a balcony table but the weather outside wasn't great and when I expressed concerns that it would be too cold and windy to eat out there, we were offered blankets and the option to move to a table inside whenever we were ready. We ended up having many cocktails on the balcony, moved inside to eat, and then back out to the balcony for more drinks. The food and drinks were delicious and the staff were amazing, highly recommend visiting this place!

Above 8 was amazing! We were in Hurstville for basketball and by the time the game ended and we made our way to our hotel, it was very late and not a lot was open for the team to have dinner. Above 8 was on top of our hotel so was recommended by hotel staff. We walked in at 9:50pm when they stop serving food at 10pm and without hesitation they let around 14 of us in and cooked us the most delicious pizzas! Christopher in particular was phenomenal and so accommodating. Cocktails were amazing and as was the view! Will for sure be back.

One of our favourite places. We are always made to feel so welcome by security and staff: VIP treatment every time :) The food is good and the cocktails delicious. The view is pretty clean too, especially at sunset It was such a good find, there was nothing like it in the hurstville area. Now every time we manage to get a date away from the kids, my wife and I go: “Above eight? Done!” Such a shame we will move in a month or two and this wonMt be our local anymore But we will come back Meanwhile I recommend the place to everybody who likes a good cocktail :)

We came in as a group of 4 on a Saturday night and had a fabulous time! Unfortunately due to the weather, the outside section was closed off, but the view of city lights was still lovely through the window. The staff was very friendly and accommodating with superb service. Food tasted amazing, even though I wasn’t too sold on presentation. Drinks were fast flowing and the staff was happy to customise some of the cocktails for us. The decor was pleasant and there was a nice vibe to the place. Overall, an awesome place for dinner and a few drinks.

Loved the venue and the outside was awesome with the crew and ambiance. Our issue was the pizzas had no seasoning nor the chips so alot needed to be added. I thought for 29 dollars for a soggy pizza was over the top. It tasted ok but lacked any flavour to be honest. Staff were fabulous as were cocktails but I'm not sure I'd go back or would without eating. I have no problem paying top dollar when food is tasty but the food aspect needs to be worked on in my humble opinion. I'm sure we will go back with work so hopefully update my reciew!!!

Visited the restaurant tonight with family and the minute we entered we were greeted by a screeching, unmusical voice by the live singer with an electric piano.Sound after two minutes was unbearable and we requested the manager to tell the singer to reduce her volume or stop singing.Our request was ignored. Other guests shared the same discomfort. Cannot understand the ignorance of the management to not take guest requests seriously as it would no doubt create bad feedback and affect restaurant attendance.

A decent lounge with a feel-good ambience. The food is simple yet flavoursome. The dehydrated chicharron is interesting and its salsa is fresh and well seasoned. They have a good variety of drinks, they even have limoncello. The service is good, professional server and the Manager himself goes around connecting with customers. We went at night so did not get to see the view. If theres something I can suggest for improvement itd be to have more food variety, maybe offer a couple of dishes for the month.

A lovely rooftop bar in the heart of Hurstville, and undoubtedly a hidden gem south of Sydney! The staff were attentive and friendly from the moment we arrived. We enjoyed a few cocktails (Mango Colada and Pink Lavender) and nibbles (spiced nuts and cheese) outside on the lounges, and it was such a lovely space to spend an hour or two mid-week. We’ll be back again soon for dinner!

Outstanding service!! The food and cocktails (pandan mojito/espresso martini - alcoholic and new romance - non-alcoholic were really delicious). We tried many dishes. Make sure you try the pumpkin ravioli and passionfruit cheesecake. The pizzas are also really flavoursome with a really nice Italian base. We were too full to try the steaks but will have to go to try them next time. There's also free parking just across the road at the Westfield after 6pm.

We just had dinner at Above 8, while ambience and location is wonderful, the menu selection is very minimal. Especially for the Main. 5 choices for the main and one include too expensive meat dish to afford. Would love to see more selection in the menu, please, as their service is very good, staff is very friendly, nice selection of wine and cocktails!

Brilliant!!! I found this gem in Hurstville!!! this is cute little place opposite to Westfield mall and on the 9th floor. They have amazing view and hospitality is top notch. I loved the cocktails there. I felt food options were bit limited though but the cocktails and the view compensated that. I would recommend for romantic date nights or just catchup with buddies!!!

Who would have thought such a nice place existed in Hurstville. Great views of Botany Bay and surrounds. When night falls, Hurstville lights up and it's just lovely. The seating varies from lounges to bar style seating along with some tables. Very comfortable and spacious. The menu is a little limited. The pizzas were delicious as was the octopus. Overall it was a nice local evening out and we will return.

Had dinner and drinks here last night, what a spot! Service was awesome, all the staff knew what meals my partner could and couldn’t have with allergy requirements. Outdoor seating was perfect with the fire pits nicely place allowing us to relax and enjoy dining and cocktails on a chilly march. Definitely would suggest the venison tataki to anyone wanting to try something different! Thankyou guys!

Above 8 has the best cocktails and the friendliest staff around. I took my husband here for our anniversary, after coming here with my colleagues last year, and we had the best time. All of the staff were so kind and accommodating! My husband ordered a steak and said it’s the best steak he has ever eaten out at a restaurant! We will definitely be back! Customer service is 10/10 :)

WOW! What a meal!! It was boarder-line fine dinning! The presentation and the flavour of the dishes were far beyond expectations in Hurstvile, it takes you away to a far away land with comfy blankets to keep warm, to outstanding views of the land beyond, to the friendly staff welcoming your entrance, this is a MUST EAT VENUE! 10/10

What a view, delivered with excellent service wine food and beer. My second time staying at the Travelodge 1 floor below. Menu a bit narrow when travelling for work for days on end. But the team make up for it. If it was in my suburb in BNE it could easily become my Friday Saturday night go too

This is one of the best restaurant experiences i have ever had . Not cheap by any means but the quality of service, food, ambiance justifies it. A special thanks to Waitstaff Christopher and Lara who were so professional and down to earth, and to the amazing chefs that just blew us away with such tasty food. Absolutely 10/10.

Highly recommend! Have been twice now and was really impressed with the friendly staff, great cocktails and beautiful views. The outdoor area is surprisingly warm in winter and the blankets are a nice touch. Compliments to your chef too, the pizzas are authentic and delicious. Very nice bar.. n very friendly staff.. food is nice too.. they have a proper pizza oven and really nice.. It's half restaurant and half bar style, which I didn't expect.. also a bit loud inside the restaurant, but the outside rooftop has heater w blankets and wines were really good combinations.. 100% recommends

Wow! We couldn't have asked for a better experience at Above 8. Food was exceptional, cocktails top notch, and service wonderful. We do expect, however, they are likely short-staffed at the moment, but the team were great at keeping service consistent where possible. Will definitely return.

Great service. Food was delicious However they advertise that their menu is made for sharing but the servings are not very generous for example scallops come out in three. The salmon with the crisps was delicious and for main had the ravioli which left me wanting for more.

A great place for group function. We had a beautiful experience on our Saturday lunch. Love the outdoor seatings with fire pits particular in the cold weather. Service was great and staff were so attentive. We will definitely go back often for after work drink!

I booked a table for 5 for work drinks. The staff was super friendly and they were happy to accommodate to a vegan diet. We had a great time. The pizzas are amazing and the cocktails are delicious. The customer service is 11/10. Cant wait to come back

Visited on Saturday night and had a lovely time. The staff were friendly and helpful, our waitress was extremely knowledgeable of both the wine and food menu. The cocktails were lovely and beautifully presented, will definitely be back.

The food here is outstanding . Ordered the barramundi dish which was sensational . Steak was melting in your mouth and the drinks were delicious . Pizza 10/10 . Our server Clair was a pleasure . I will be back for a delicious meal

Really delicious drinks and food. View is really nice with outdoor couches available. Highly Recommended if you're in the area. Bit tricky to find, go through the entrance for the Travelodge and take the elevators to level 9.

I was pleasantly surprised by this bar. The atmosphere was classy and relaxing. Loved the steak it was done to perfection. Their remake of the martini is definitely one to remember! See the video for the dramatic reveal!
