I gave one star just because I can't see something less than that. Looking for a scooter... I thought the academy store will be the ideal place to find it. Wrong selection. All the associates was on some other places but not there... The host whi was at the door asked me what I was looking for.. I asked fir scooters.. He said aisle on the back bla bla bla... Then he keep talking with another associate and both of them ignored me. When finally I found the scooters.. No body was around there to help me. I started looking for help.. when I found a guy who was working on the back of the store seemed storage area... He seems like he was more worried about that door was opened, when I asked about the scooters the walk out of the storage, closed the doors behind him and said.. Whatever it's on the shelves it's the only scooters we have. He turned around and went back to the storage and bye. Confused and frustrated I walked to the exit.. And I saw the two guys still talking... They even said bye. Bad experience at the Academy store located on William cannon and South hi35 highway. Location: very convenient come in/out location. With plenty parking lot. no one of the associates was focusing on the costumers. I will never come back and I really don't recommend this store. I don't know about other Academy locations .. But this one has a big X.

I came in to purchase a Savage Long rifle. I entered the Shop at 9:20 and left at 11:20 to buy a freaking 22LR rifle for Teenagers! Just to be very clear, I came there to get the 129.99US$ price when my firearm traditional shop was offering for 136US$. In order to save 6US$, I lost 2 hours of my work = 120US$. This is the PRICE TO PAY, to SAVE 6US$! The first person ( Dave) was slow, unresponsive, not listening, seemed absolutely lost, non-communicative, keeping phone calls from other customers and holding my transaction until he could pass the phone to another person. This is not the first time this happens and Academy keeps failing at it, despite the empty promises. A Major thank you goes instead to the Firearm manager (Jake) who literally saved my day. Had it not been for him (who did just what my local firearm shops does day in and day out), I would still NOW be in that freaking useless Academy sport and its dumb firearm created rules (and ignorance thereof)

We were waiting in line to check out and that was fine until Jose (the store director) came over and told us to make two separate lines. What Jose failed to see was that the only two lanes open at the time were in front of one another and there was no space for another line. I also hadn't been waiting as long as the people in front of me and I didn't want to cut them. But Jose kept insisting that we make another line and told us "my boss doesn't like to see long lines". Then maybe he should open another lane? But don't take your frustrations out on us. His attitude made me very uncomfortable. Then he went and apologized to the people at the end of the line saying "sorry, these people just wanna make one big long line for y'all to wait it". That was kinda rude. Jose was just really rude and should probably take a break from this job if he can't handle appropriately talk to customers. (I don't even wanna know how he talks to employees).

so on may 16, 2022 around 12 noon, i tried to return a pair of van shoes because they were a bit too tight on my feet. i had just brought them the day before. the shoes were in brand new condition. this heavy set hispanic lady who was the manager of the store, said i couldn’t return them claiming they were worn out (how when i just brought them the day before and literally only wore them on the way back to academy to return them). she refused to let me exchange them so i had to drive to another academy (in sunset valley) and they let me exchange them right away because they saw the shoes were in perfect condition. horrible experience at this academy after previously shopping here and spending my hard earned money here. location: 801 e william cannon dr. that manager owes me an apology

Academy Sports + Outdoors is my go-to store for all my sporting goods needs. They have a huge selection of products, from hunting and fishing gear to camping and hiking supplies. I also love that they have a wide range of prices, so I can find what I'm looking for without breaking the bank. The staff at Academy Sports is always friendly and knowledgeable. They're always happy to help me find what I need and answer any questions I have. I also appreciate that they're not pushy and don't try to sell me things I don't need. Went in to return a pair of shorts I bought about a month ago but had never worn. When I went to wear them today I realized I had bought the wrong size and the receipt was long gone but at least the tags were still on them. Long story short the associates at Academy were more than helpful in helping me to try and locate the transaction using my credit card but was unsuccessful because I had lost the card I purchased them with. Even through all that I was able to switch the shorts out for the correct size and it was an even swap. I really appreciate that they still practice excellent customer service and I was able to get the right shorts even though the whole deal was my fault. Good job Academy William Cannon!! Keep up the good work!

Not good this time. Bought 4 pairs of baseball pants that clearly had the original sticker price from the manufacturer of $9.99. They were not on sale or anything, but the bar code kept ringing them up for $12.99. I could not get the cashier to understand there was a $3 difference per pair, there was a line behind me so I just paid the total of $12 more than I should have verses making other Customers wait by continuing to debate with the cashier. The cashier was polite, it wasn't her fault, not sure how she could've handled it better, but the system just wouldn't let her fix it. This won't deter me from going back, I love Academy, but $12 is $12, just a little irritating and $12 could mean more to someone else.

Excellent customer service from the 4 employees I interacted with. We purchased a 3n1 game table and after unpacking determined some pieces were missing. This was a Saturday and the game table manufacturer's customer service line was closed. The table is ~250lbs, so I didn't want to go through the process of returning the entire table. Although I purchased the game table at the Brodie location, they didn't have any more in stock. So I tried this William Cannon location. I spoke to the manager (Jose) and told him my situation. He offered to open up one and give me the missing part which enabled me to finish assembling the table. Thank you Jose for going above and beyond!

VETERAN FRIENDLY ACADEMY! THEY OFFER MILITARY DISCOUNTS! Arrived at gun counter only to be greeted with a genuine welcome by MICHAEL (US Navy). We exchanged greetings and recognized ea other as Patriots and proceeded to do business. Ms ASHLEE/US ARMY then chimed in to inform me of other models of merchandise I was shopping for and thus was very helpful in determining what I was looking for. This visit I was having was like Family.. needles to say I left there with purchasing more than I came in for after ASHLEE explained to me what better fitted my needs. Kudos to ACADEMY and their Veteran Staff whom know “customer service” after serving Our Country. Blessings!

They had a lady trying to herd people like cattle to the cash registers, in doing so people were walking up to cashiers with no customers and a line of people in the clothing section waiting to be checked out. Their were so many people walking up to cashiers with no customers she didn't have time to tell the ones in line where to go. The ones line were not social distancing. I just threw my stuff on a table and walked out. That was the most unorganized check I had ever seen...... 3 to 400 dollar sale lost to some unnecessary people herding. They did not have many customers at that time.

My experience buying sneakers was great and I found what I desired in a running sneak. My second visit wasn't what I'd call productive. In sporting goods depart., the employee behind the counter was more interested in drawing triangle shaped diagrams and filling those in with solid coloring. He was absolutely no help even when asked. Yes, questions were answered but was responding with a demeanor of that of a extremely bored person or one being on the slab in a morgue. To that employee, time is almost constant, and when the clock stops.. Have fun as much as possible, just suggesting

Good prices and selection of products. We were looking for baseball shoes and didn't know where to start. I stood near two employees engaged in a conversation about the display of certain items. They stopped their conversation, asked if I needed help and took me to where I needed to be. They then helped with sizing and found several items to choose from. They even found items on sale. They took a process that could have taken me 30 minutes or more and got me what I needed, at a good price, in five minutes. Thank you, sirs! Academy is also a great place for your BBQ needs.

Awful experience! I came in to get a veterans fishing license and showed them veteran status on my DL license. The supervisor says I need my disabled paperwork and I tell her as per DPS only disabled veterans can have this on their license. She challenges me and says “no, my dad has it and he’s not disabled” she’s a liar lol DPS will clearly show otherwise! She “speaks to manager” and they both agree I need a letter so I look it up and only then was I able to get the fishing license. I’ll be contacting corporate so these individuals can verify their policies!!!

I love the selection and prices Academy has to offer. I have been shopping there for my oldest grandson for the past 11 - 12 years, or so. I tried to place an on-line order for my 3 grandsons, who live between Austin & Bastrop, TX. The web site would not accept my $285 payment because they "were not accepting payments from California residents". WTH! We went to the store today for the boots my grandson absolutely wanted only. I chose to spend my CA money for the rest of the items at Cabela's and Walmart!!

My regular store cancelled my order bc they couldn't locate the shoe that the system says that they have in stock. So I called this store to make sure that they had the cleats in stock before I drive way across town. The employee that answered my call went far and beyond what is the new standard of lackluster customer service. He took his time to find the 3 sizes that I was looking for and checked in with me every few minutes to reassure me. His name is Grant. He deserves a raise.

My fiancé and I went in to browse their gun collection. We are taking our LTC course Tuesday and wanted to handle the piece we saw online before purchasing. However the male employee at the counter around 7:35PM was too busy taking to the female employee at the counter and taking time to show her guns without acknowledging us. 3 people walked away because they were not acknowledged and neither employees could be bothered. Customer Service is dying out.

I went in to buy weights. They had no carts. When I asked the lady at the front she just shrugged. I ended up asking another associate for help and they said they’d send someone over. They didn’t. After waiting for quite some time I carried everything myself which was quite a lot. On my way out I noticed the associate I asked for help just staring at me. This is a very trashy store with people who need to learn a bit about customer service.

There is this young man there name Landon and when I say he is amazing, he is that and more! Every time I come there he is helpful and goes out of his way to make my experience successful! I honest to God wish it was more people like him in this world! He should be a manager because he is definitely an awesome leader! My son is in sports and he make sure he encourages him every visit! We appreciate you Landon!!! Please never change!!

Great selections and good sales. Academy never disappoints when it come to sales and prices. I had to give 3 stars since they quit offering bags for the items you buy. When you spend money and buy multiple items, please put the stuff in a bag. I don't want to hear about saving the planet or any of the other garbage. Many items in the store are plastic and will end up in a landfill anyway. Don't use the plastic bag excuse.

Everyone in the store from managers to cashiers and greeters were extremely friendly and helpful. I have always enjoyed shopping in this store and try here before going anywhere else. The tennis shoes I bought are some of my fave and I get compliments all the time on them. I've bought children's and adults sports gifts as well as sports training equipment for me. Soo happy to have an Academy Sports to shop at!

This is a great Academy. There are always plenty of parking spaces. It is an easy store to navigate. The employees here are typically friendly and willing to try to be helpful. The store is easy to see from the road and easy to get out of the parking lot however the traffic to get in can be a hassle due to the current construction (Wm Cannon/I35). The right stuff the low/right price every day. Academy!

Have purchased many items from Academy and everytime I've been able to walk in the store pick up my items and out the door, very friendly Courteous and knowledgeable staff have made every transaction very easy and enjoyable, highly recommended the Academy store at IH35 and William Cannon for all your Sporting needs, if not in stock the super friendly staff will make sure you'll have your order ASAP!

If you are looking for something in particular for your outdoor activities this is the place to go! I found a beach umbrella at a very fair price! I bought also the mat for the sand. I wish I would have more space on my car to buy more stuff! The store is so well organized according to each sport and the people working there was so helpful! I really appreciate their support.

Honestly it looked as if they are understaffed. They obviously had a good day in Sales because there was a lot of trash on the floors in the Shoe Department, boxes , socks etc but after trying on about four pairs of Puma Steel Toed tennis shoes O found the right fit! ALL of the employees were friendly and helpful, I recommend this Academy Sports and Outdoors!

This Academy location is very large with a big selection of all your typical Academy Sports + Outdoor equipment. The staff has always been friendly and they are eager to help if needed. There is a lot of parking available in the front and the inside of the store is well maintained and clean. I will definitely be coming here many years to come.

Great customer svc from David @Wm Canon, Austin TX location. David went the extra mile... presented me w/every size 13 football cleats that Academy had in stock: 4 prs!! But my kid didn't like any of them, but Dad & I sure did! Well, Mr. David can expect a return visit bc my kid can forget the $300 cleats he's dreaming & begging for! SMH!

Went to Academy for black Friday and got a bunch of clothes. they had tons of clothes on sale and a large selection on clearance. I love there Adidas section, I wear Adidas all the time and academy always has a great selection of Adidas. They always have great deals in items and a huge inventory, I find myself going to Academy all the time

This academy is unorganized and poorly managed! The employees seem like they hate their jobs! I ask for help to get a box of shoes from the top shelf, and he told me he was busy right now! Always long lines at the check out! Dressing rooms are always dirty with clothes laying in the floor! The Academy in Sunset Valley is so much better!

I was able to buy pretty decent quality boots here at a good discount and the staff has really nice there I had one of these stuff employees get something from the top stock he actually took about 5 6 minutes getting the stuff to be able to get to it with the ladder and the people at the firearms, really nice

This is the only college where I think the service makes people feel warm! Although the procedures for purchasing guns in the college are strict and cumbersome, Michael, the salesman there, can know us patiently and give us a lot of help every time! ! I suggest you can ask Michael to buy gun products!

Academy...... academy.....great store. always find my missing boyfriend here. He can spend HOURS shopping here. God bless them for their patients when he has a return and busts out his wad of 10,0000 receipts from his pocket. He's a retired Marine, professional product sampler/shopper at this point.

Place is as disorganized as you can possibly be. Went in there twice and it was an adventure to match the display shoe with where the box was. Every isle has the same brands scattered all over it. My god it's a nightmare just to find anything. Good luck match prices with the shoes too.

Always the best prices! On another note, I've been there many times the employees need to ask customers if they need assistance or help finding items more often. I've been standing there trying to find my shoe size and they will walk right by me and won't even ask if I need help.

I purchased a box of 9mm on my way to the shooting range. When I opened the box, 13 bullets were missing. I am sure that someone stole the bullets and put the box back on the shelf. Be sure to check your ammo purchases at this store before leaving.

I've been shopping there since they opened. Store is filthy, floors, dressing rooms, everything. Some members didn't want to talk, much less help. Low quality clothes. All made in Bangladesh. Clothing shelves in total disarray. What Happened!

I went here with some co-workers while attending a conference in Austin and we went there, looking for children camo clothes and to look at guns. The gun guy behind was counter was very friendly and knowledgeable. It was fun talking to him.

Very bad experience with online orders, I ordered on the 31st and it said that it was ready for June 2. I arrived and they told me that this is wrong, that it is not ready, it has been more than a week and my order is still not ready

Had bought a mask and fin set for instore pickup it went off with out a hitch. The mask strap broke on me with in a week. Went back and they did a full exchange with out a problem. Staff was super friendly a f helpful.

Messiest Academy store I’ve ever been to, specially the shoes. There was open boxes and shoes just on the floor throughout the aisles and nothing was organized. Other than that, they have plenty of sports equipment.

I was looking for a non slip floor product for a ramp I built at a hospital. They had some thick pads that were a bit expensive and just 2 thick. The place is great, I just needed to go to home depot.

Love the selections of UT stuff (a little on the pricey side), but I was very disappointed that they don't offer military, veteran, or senior discounts. Probably won't go there again because of that.

Very low stock in store and lots of piled up boxes in some area of the store. First time I've visited and left with nothing. Really need to keep the store filled. No mace available when I visited.
