YOU SHOULD NEVER RENT CARS HERE (All Alamo stores in Amsterdam central), because I got too much rudeness & almost scammed. When I entered the shop there was a tall guy on the front desk, I told him the reservation number, gave him the passport, international driving license and the credit card. I booked "i20" of Hyundai, because it's good at fuel consumption. After that he said, "now we have only Fiat 500, but I think it's not enough for your travel (too small). So I can give you a special offer to upgrade to higher rank just 10 euro per day. Got it? Sign here." I knew Fiat 500 is really bad at fuel consumption and one of the cars I wanted to avoid renting, so I asked him if there's "i20" left behind or not. He told me "i20" wasn't there, only Fiat 500, he said very clearly "We're not ensured that you can get i20, do you know the word "or similiar"? Now we don't have i20, so rent Fiat 500 or upgrade!!! " I think, however I wasn't sure, they didn't mean to lend i20 from the first place, putting it just as the bait to get customers. After all, the guy offered the more special price to me (5 euro per day) about upgrading the car, so I accepted that. (Then he forced me to sign the receipt, but I refused.) He started recalculating the price, but there's another trap there, setting the date&time from 2pm(pick-up) to 3pm(return), it means I must pay one more day just for one hour. I noticed it and told him to reset the time 2pm to 2pm, he did it reluctantly. I checked the price and other options many times, then I signed it. The guy brought the upgraded car in front of the store(photo), and started explaining(checking) the scratches together with me,(right front bumper) he mentioned "2 points were already mended and that's all. Okay sign here, there are some guests waiting for me, sign up now." But there was one more colleague freely looking for something to do in the store, so I think he lied to me. At least the colleague could do anything instead of him. I started checking the other scratches so carefully, and found many fatal scratches.(other photos) While I was checking the scratches he was all the time complaining like "Hey come on, THE OTHER GUESTS ARE WAITING FOR ME, HURRY UP PLEASE. I DON'T WANT TO WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW." blablabla. I asked him "What if I sign here without mentioning the scratches and return?" he said, "We won't charge you anything with this fucking small ones, TRUST ME. So sign here." But I started checking the scratches inside of the car(interior), he almost shouted & was complaining a lot. In this time, I had already not wanted to rent the car in this store. After checking all scratches and having taken photos, I signed the document. Then he gave me the key and disappeared into the store seeming complaining with his colleague. I drove 200km away from the store, then I noticed there wasn't a official document of the car. What if I got an accident or any other things, I wouldn't have an official documents which could be given to police. It was horror, furthermore, I called the store so many times but nobody answered to me(I think he didn't want to talk to me anymore and ignored). I called another Alamo rental car shop locating at Amsterdam Schipol airport, the staff gave me another car (Nissan Qashqai) and said "We have plenty of cars, you can choose whatever you want in the same grade". I never recommend to rent cars at "Alamo Nassaukade", you lost money&time, will have a risk of scammed.

I have booked a car on a 3rd part broker website not direct from Alamo Amsterdam branch, however I had still to pick my car up from Alamo Amsterdam they were the official office of my rental term. Anyway it’s first day of the 2024, many rental companies were closed but Alamo Amsterdam was open. Bcs of that reason I had to rent from them. I had many question marks before it due to negative reviews on their page and had concern about IDP (international driving permit). On website it says IDP is mandatory which is I didn’t have. I called the office and asked, I was replied its not a must as long as I have English written driver’s license (I hold Canadian driver licence). Credit card, passport and driver’s licence is okay to rent a car. Went through the office and female agent were only person assisting customers. It caused a little long-wait period. But it was still okay for me, it’s first day of the year, understandable. About the car, my booking was for at 11:30 but I Arrived there at 3:30-4 something. I was told that the booking is already expired but she didn’t make it a problem, and did try to renew the booking. The car I chose was i-20 which was “not available” at that time, she upgraded my car to a Hyundai Kona Hybrid with free of charge which was better for me on less gas price you know . The only problem is 3rd party broker agency sold me a full coverage insurance however my actual booking is basic coverage, Alamo agent said their system says (she showed me the screen as well, she was right) its a basic coverage, it could be broker company sold ‘another coverage’ by on their behalf. I had to pay for extra fee to get another full coverage. I will email and check if I can get refund from broker agency. We will see, I’ll keep u guy’s upgraded. For now I paid more than I expected but so far Im happy with Alamo Amsterdam. As I said I paid more for my insurance coverage but I think it worths guys. I know everyone has a budget but don’t take that risk. Get covered and stay away from headaches. We all know me may loose our deposits or be charged extra and extra after returning the car bcs of tiny scratches on body or this or that. I’ll put another review after returning the car to see if I will have any problems. Happy new year to all of you guys.

Recientemente, alquilé un automóvil con la empresa Álamo en Amsterdam para un viaje corto. La atención que recibí fue rápida y eficiente, y me asignaron un automóvil de gama un poco superior al que había reservado, lo cual fue una agradable sorpresa. Sin embargo, hubo un pequeño inconveniente que no me gustó: la empresa solo acepta tarjetas de crédito como forma de pago, y no aceptan tarjetas de débito. Esto fue un contratiempo ya que yo prefería utilizar mi tarjeta de débito. Además, al momento de recoger el automóvil, se me solicitó abonar un saldo de garantía de 244€ por un día de alquiler con el tanque lleno. Lamentablemente, al devolver el automóvil, tenía menos combustible del acordado, lo cual resultó en un cargo de 2.75€ por litro según lo estipulado en el contrato. A pesar de estos inconvenientes, debo destacar que la devolución de mi dinero fue procesada de manera rápida y eficiente. En general, mi experiencia con Álamo fue satisfactoria. Sin embargo, es importante tener en cuenta que la empresa únicamente acepta tarjetas de crédito, lo cual puede ser un factor a considerar al planificar un alquiler con ellos. Recomiendo a la empresa que amplíe sus opciones de pago para brindar mayor comodidad a sus clientes."

I booked a car to go to Germany initially. In the terms and conditions of the reservation it was clearly stated that it's allowed to go to Belgium, Germany and some other countries. However upon receipt of the car, the reception guy said to me that the car is not equpped with winter tyres, but winter tyres are mandatory in Germany. So, the car provided did not correspond the reservation. I was really disappointed, but decided to keep the car and travel across the Netherlands a little bit. And unfortunately, The car was broken in on the first day of my rental. The car rented was Opel Astra. Someone broke the window and has stolen my bag with a laptop inside from the trunk. The small triangle-shaped window located in the rear side of the rear passenger door. I reported the theft to police and provided the police report to Alamo/Enterprise. So, I lost my bag and an expensive laptop. And unfortunately, Alamo/Enterprise has taken my entire deposit of 400 EUR for that small triangle window, and this seems to me as inadequate price. Will never rent from them again. Stay away from them! Choose a more adequate rental company!

IDP alone is a valid govn't official permit to drive in foreign countries including Netherland and it can not be the same number as home driver license in the first place. The male staff working on 26th Dec 2023 must be either untrained or unprofessional to understand it. Perhaps it was just personal discrimination against us. Our entire trip is ruined. Car rental fee, the entire vacation rental fee, and last minute hotel booking fee. Emotional distress and wasted time to find other rental cars last minute during holiday made it worse. We could not make it and the trip has been cancelled. This is a clear DISCRIMINATION and chaos caused by uneducated staff. I made a report to Alamo regional head office and I will take this case to the end. Let's see how Alamo deal with irrational decision and discrimination. I am planning to do everything in my power to get this straight.

Мы забронировали машину он лайн. Когда пришли её получать, нам отказали в представление машины того класса , который мы заказали и предложили совершенно другого низкого класса. Сославшись , что видите ли им нужно показать куда через 12 дней мы летим из Амстердама или едем на поезде. А мы не летим и не едим на поезде , мы дальше планируем путешествовать. Правил таких нет , это личная неприязнь менеджера , когда он увидел у нас русский паспорт. Я никому не рекомендую обращаться в это отделение по аренде авто.

Comme toutes les autres personnes qui sont passées par rentalcars et ont laissé un avis ici, Alamo a refusé notre reservation sous pretexte que ma carte de credit etait valable pendant seulement un peu plus d'un mois. Ils requierent plus de 3 mois de validité. Après avoir rebouclé avec rentalcars, il s'avère que la carte de credit doit même être valide pendant plus d'1 an pour le depot de garantie. Rentalcars me rembourse après 4h pour résoudre le problème.

I will never come to this car rental company to rent a car again. I booked a car rental online for 1 day and arrived at the company 50 minutes early to go through the formalities. The staff made my car rental time earlier and the contract become a car rental for 2 days. I asked that the rent was too expensive. He deceived me that the deposit of 200 eur would be refunded. The conclusion is that I rent Compact Car for 1 day for 392 euros.

My recent experience with ALAMO Amsterdam City Center was disappointing. Employee "Paul" displayed unprofessionalism by refusing to use an alternate card for payment, despite my explicit requests. He charged my credit card without consent and refused to provide his last name. When questioned, he suggested filing a complaint and claimed there was nothing else he could do. Overall, a frustrating and unprofessional encounter.

Nefarious customer service. The manager did not want to talk to the colleague who attended us the day before, who did not mark a damage that the car had. Finally after waiting 20 minutes to leave it. The manager acknowledged that it was her mistake and in a very rude way ended the service. Totally dissatisfied with the treatment of this employee.

AVOID THIS BRANCH AT ALL COST! Extremely rude employees that do not speak Dutch and limited english. They do not accept international (charge) creditcards like Revolut. They would not let me pay for the security deposit with a valid creditcard. They did not want to return the money i already prepaid when booking.

It took only a few minutes to pick up the car, the staff was very nice and the car was prepared in advance of my arrival (even though I would have preferred they gave me a choice) and was in a good condition, nice and clean. The return was similarly smooth. Great price, would come again.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE. Wouldnt let the car be picked up even if its all paid for just because we dont have a credit card, people were ready to lend their credit card details but a lot of bullsht coming from their customer service. Very rude people! Avoid!
