Peaceful... History Alexandra Park is one of Manchester's earliest and most intact Victorian Parks. In 1995 the park was listed Grade 2 on the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens. The 60-acre site for the Park was bought by Manchester Corporation and laid out between 1868 and 1870. The design was the subject of an architectural competition which was won by Alexander Gordon Hennell of Chancery Lane, London. Hennell's winning design was ahead of its time, integrating the provision of traditional ornamental features and sporting facilities, something we take for granted in parks today. The design exploited the flat and featureless site by creating a series of broad sweeping and curved footpaths, perfect for the Victorian fashion of promenading, whilst defining the oval activity areas. In 2014 the park was sympathetically restored, reinstating and repairing original features and adapting facilities to meet the demands of a modern park.
Alexandra Park is the Emerald Jewel of Moss Side. This park has been part of my life since i was a child. I live near by and its an oasis of peace. Its great for walks and picnics. Has a cafe so you can have a coffee and something to eat. And a great pond where you can feed the ducks, coots and swans (Please remember not to give bread to the birds. Not good for them. they sell bird feed at the cafe.£1 a bag) And if your lucky on a warm sunny day you may see the community of wild Freshwater Turtles basking on a log in the pond.
Playground
There are 2 child play areas with slides, swings etc. Great fun for the kids

Beautiful place. Take a walk in this 62 acre park. Football grounds, badminton courts, kids play area, a little lake with lots of duck, swans. It’s not very crowd, you will be able to find a quite bench and listen to the birds chirping. Greenery everywhere, flowers everywhere. And also beautiful promenade with lots flowering plants. You can get little sunlight there. You can walk your dogs here. And it is open always.

Dog-friendliness
Very friendly dogs and they're all well trained and well loved dogs. In my 5 years of taking our dog there I've never had a problem with dogs.
Picnic area
Picnic areas are in places of interest such as next to the large pond with birds to watch.
Beautiful place in the heart of Manchester City, Mose side area, very clean and huge land for run , walk exercise, play ground for football cricket pitch, small tennis court, and a little concrete made table for table tennis too, a nice little lake and plenty of picnic spots, one request for especially to Our African community to look-after the place after they do a picnic and get together in this park, in the month of Aug2022 we volunteer to spend hours for cleaning as there were African festivities and local community were a lot seen doing Barbecue and leaving litter around it’s a fantastic community park and very important for our kids and families live around.
With work recently done on this gem of a park, I can't say enough good things about it. There is a lovely coffee place, a wonderful lake housing beautiful wildlife and signs which give all kinds of information about the wildflife (and also how best to look after them - which includes what you should and shouldn't feed them). There are even regular activities in the park. It's a joy to leave just a few minutes away. I hope there are more green spaces like this in urban areas, and well looked after like this in the future.
It is a very good and clean park. You can get over there to relax or to do different type if activities. I saw swings, a little place to exercise,a tennis field, lake with duck and we also seen turtles on the lake and many more. There is also a football field,a big one in fact, cross bar was down the ground but we did put it back in place and anyone who wish to play can go and play football. Up to me is a pleasant place to go on a beautiful day! I didn't had time to explore all of it because of it size.
Great cafe. Has a dog station for water and free treats inside the cafe. Nice walks around the duck pond. Plenty of open green space. Lovely old trees well kept grassland for outdoor activities
Dog-friendliness
Lots of fun with dogs. I saw lots of very responible dog owners. Picking up poo and keeping their dogs under control
Picnic area
Didnt see any picnic tables but lots of shady spots under trees if we get another hot summer
Nice place to have a relaxing walk, walk your dog, play with your children. This park is quite vast, a generous playground for children, lakes with gees and ducks (we are advised to feed the birds only with bird grains), beautiful an cosy caffetteria from where you can grab some refreshments, and a lot of specific elements and a few statues. Worth spending time every day there.
Lovely clean park not too crowded. A Great place to join the cycling club, run by volunteers many bikes to suit all ages and sizes. We went here to build our confidence riding the bikes around the park
Playground
Small but clean and tidy and most of all Safe
Dog-friendliness
Dog friendly area very nice
Picnic area
Lots of areas to pick from
Nice place to have good view in the fall. Very relaxing and great vibe. Lake side with ice-cream truck is a bonus. Google says it closes at 4.30 pm but I didn't find any such thing. We stayed up to 5.30pm. We parked our car in one of the lanes near to the park. Dog friendly with lot squirrels ️ around:) Kind regards ♈
This is a fabulous park with great opportunities for walking. The cafe in the centre is wonderful - great coffee and cakes. Lots of sport going on here, especially cricket. Loads of trees and birds, there's even a Lodge but I don't know when that's open
Picnic area
A few benches outside (not enough really)
Alexandra Park is wonderful green oasis on the south side of Manchester. It is a great place to walk and think. There are lots of mature trees to walk by and large open grass areas where you can relax. It's well served by public transport with numerous bus routes (85 & 101 as well as others) passing close by.
Gorgeous area, so bright and sunny. Loads of events on today but only went to hang with friends. Two ice-cream vans were there to deal with demand. The public toilets close at 4pm so my friend had to go to a nearby pub.
Restrooms
Restrooms were clean but the middle stall had no toilet paper.
Alexander Park is a lovely space to meet with friends or not to take a walk and spend time in the cage with a hot drink on a cold day. Lots of space for dogs to run, play sports, or take a picnic, there is a little play space for younger children and a duck pond
Lovely park, has a lake, children's play area and a good walk. Also features a good cafe that opens on to a cricket pitch. The last time I visited there was a car boot sale in the park and a cricket match going on. Very nice afternoon and very family friendly.
It's an amazing park to go either with family or friends. Ideal for walking your dog. When there is sunshine it's gorgeous! There is plenty of grass to play game or practice sports. There is also a bar in the middle of the park. There is a little lake as well.
Nice park. Easy path to walk around it. Has a small lagoon and playground area for children. I do not give 5 stars just for the fact that the toilet (which is inside a coffee shop) is not always available, it depends only of the shop's schedule.
Visited as part of a ParkRun on a Saturday. Had a little walk around and visited the cafe once I'd finished running which was pleasant enough, servingthe usual cafe related beverages & sandwiches. It's a relatively small park by comparison
A beautiful and wonderfully kept park where I've been hosting forest school sessions @rock_paper_write (look me up on Instagram). Would love to see some accessible, well built and well maintained toilets here. There's a lovely cafe here
Alexander Park in Manchester offers a serene escape with lush greenery, a picturesque lake, and versatile recreational options like sports facilities and a play area. A perfect blend of nature and activities for a delightful experience.
Beautiful park with an amazing history. Was told it used to be a violent place, lots of crime and over the course of time and action from the police, they turned it around and made it into the safe and beautiful park that it is today!
Only come when there's events on these days as don't live close anymore. The last event was the Caribbean carnival. I have been going to it since I was a kid. Always good music and lots of food choices and always catch the parade.
I dont go in the evenings but during the day it's a great park to walk, get some freshair, sunbathe, cycle, play footie, take a picnic or play with your dog. There is something for everyone at every age. There's the pavillion for
Really nice park, lots to do, includes table tennis table, tennis courts, bike hub, tea room etc. Has a nice pond and 2 play areas for children.
Playground
2 play grounds, 1 aimed at prenschoolers and the other for 6+
Lovely park, quite open in some areas rather than shaded by trees. Nice pond. It's not very big and can get quite crowded. There is a cafe (and I assume toilets) though I haven't tried it. Parking nearby is sufficient.
The park is very big and welcoming.. I specially liked the duck pond there but it could be more clean .. Enough playground and a good space for walk and jog . Wish to be there very soon with my date lol …
Fantastic huge park for families to enjoy. Large lake with ducks swans etc and little chicks to keep kids entertained. Many families out on their bikes together. Great space for dogs too. Would highly recommend
Very lovely well kept Park with a cafe On my visit their was a fair ground.
Restrooms
Well kept and clean
Picnic area

Beautiful place to walk. Today i noticed bright Green Paraquites in the Park... The walks are stunning at all times of the year, as the seasons change the plants and trees seem more beautiful …
Great day out for the Caribbean carnival on Sunday. Lots of food stalls, some fair ground rides for kids, lots of stages dotted round with singers / dancers on. Lovely few hours out with the kids.
Nice addition of park in the town. Beautifully arranged and managed by council. Several walking, jogging tracks. Beautiful lake surrounded by unique trees. Pavilion restaurant. And cricket ground.
Lovely Park in the midst of the hustle and bustle. If only the dogs, untrained ones, could be handled in a safe way, it will be child friendly too... Frequently used by professional dog walkers.
I've been going to this beautiful park for years. It has a pond, play areas, tennis courts, playing fields for various sports. There are rest rooms and picnic areas. This is a dog friendly park.
It's a blessing to have such space as around us here. Adventures with the toddler through the wooded areas, feeding the swans and delightful coffees. We while away many hours here each week.
Great Park with Sports facilities available and a beautiful green field. Car Parking at the entrance available. Enjoyed Salsa & Bachata dancing on the weekend there Highly Recommended …
Well maintained park with a small swing park and enclosed sports pitch. Plenty of space for picnics. The only thing I can complain about is the fact that the toilets close at 4pm!
This is my local park great if you just want to go and clear your head and get away from everything for a little while. Plenty of wildlife take a camera to get some amazing shots

What a beautiful park, we went to a carboot on saturday 26th August & found it easy to park. The sun was out and the park full of people. We got a few great bargains.
Went for the kids park run. Very nice park with wonderful arrangements for park run. Very friendly people and really nice and clean park. Good cafe at the pavilion.

Absolutely beautiful place, fantastic for everyone of all ages . Lots of families having picnics and playing sports. We were cycling around with the dog.
This park holds so many memories for me: I used to play here when I was a boy in fact my mother would take me there in my pram, I am now 63 years old.
Great place to relax and exercise and is a host to a good range of sports. Great place to do a few laps on the bike and also great for picnics etc.
Nice big park, has big grass areas, decent woods, lake, two or more play areas. Great for dogs. Lots of people jog there. Some grey squirrels.
Local park with birds and squirrels. Nice place for jogging or walking. Strange person in the park around the stella looks like dealers.
This park has a great atmosphere and you can do many things from sports, walking and just enjoying the view. Would extremely recommend.
Beautiful Park near Chorlton. Excellent Cafe with large selection of snacks and hot meals. Friendly staff. Good Covid protocols.
Massive park! Beautiful views, animals a little lake and plenty of space for any leisure activities. Perfect lockdown spot.
Beautiful, spacious, well paved, indoor and outdoor seating, The Pavilion serves food and drink, also has clean restrooms.
Nice park, fresh air, perfect for a run or a picnic, needs toilets and a restaurant or a coffee place in the middle.
Decent tennis courts. Well lit with flood lights. Nets in good condition. Brilliant that it's free even at night!
Nice park, good size too, with a lake in the middle. Not my favourite park in South Manchester, but good enough.
Massive park alot if activities such as tennis there a lake inside beautiful place to go with friends and family
Lucky to have this near my place of work. Beautiful park.

Beautiful, well-maintained park with plenty of on-street parking and great facilities (play areas, gardens).
Good big park, toilet facilities. I would strongly avoid the boathouse cafe as they will rip you off royal

Amazing park, great place to go walk your dog, to exercise or just sit and enjoy the view
