I will never stay at Aloft Tampa Downtown again. As soon as I arrived I was informed that my room was upgraded to a water view room (pic below), which was a nice upgrade. Once the elevator reached my floor (2nd floor), I noticed an overwhelming pungent smell of musty sweaty feet. So much so, that I was concerned that the smell would penetrate my clothes. After entering my room, the smell still persisted. I quickly went straight to checking my bed and the room for cleanliness, and I was greatly disappointed. My sheets were stained and their was an odd red stain on my comforter. I did not want to complain, so I went down and showed the person (manager) at the front desk the pictures of the stains and asked for new sheets so that I may change them. They apologized and gave me new sheets and pillow cases. When I returned to my room I started to replace the sheets and when I went to pick up the pillow to replace the case, a bedbug ran across it. I killed it instinctively and I quickly called the front desk and the response that I received was interesting. I was told that they were "not qualified to identify whether it was a bedbug or not." Personally, even if it were something else, seeing something run across your pillow is not okay by any standards. They offered me another room that was clean, so I moved to that room. But that room was dirtier than the one with the bedbug. The amount of dust under the bed was atrocious. I only stayed that night because the other hotels were booked due to the conference that I was attending. But thankfully, the Marriott Water Street hotel had something available. When I went back to Aloft to speak with the manager and let them know that I wanted to leave and that the Marriott needed my conference code to transfer my rate, they claimed that they were not able to do so. So the called another manager to confirm and that manager did not acknowledge the poor experience that I had in their hotel. The Marriott was more apologetic than Aloft was. My advice would be to stay at the Marriott Water Street Hotel. The were extremely accommodating and were willing to turn around my poor experience with Aloft. Aloft is one of those, "you get what you pay for" type of hotels. Save your money and stay at a clean establishment like the Marriott Waterstreet Hotel. Think of it this way, the money that you would save at Aloft would be spent getting your house exterminated for bedbugs later on. All in all, the only good thing that I would have to say is that the location of the hotel is nice, but the Marriott Waterstreet Hotel location is much better. But Aloft is located right near the riverwalk, just as the Marriott. Outside of the bedbug and dirty room issues, I wish that it was handled better on a customer service side of things. Since Aloft is a Marriott hotel, the district manager told me that I only had a certain amount of time to go to the Marriott Waterstreet Hotel to book my room or they would release it to someone else. I felt that was unnecessary when knowing my experience with them. I feel that some retraining may be necessary for their upper-level staff members.

Dust everywhere, the rooms have a disgusting smell that encroaches you once the elevator doors open, and there was a bedbug in my room.
Walkability
It is right near the riverwalk, but the Marriott Waterstreet is closer and has a much better view.
Food & drinks
The individual at the bar was wonderful! But the food wasn't that great. I asked for BBQ wings and the sauce taste nothing like BBQ. Plus the wings were slightly underdone for my liking.

Colorful and Convenient: Stay at Aloft Downtown Tampa! Recently, I had the opportunity to visit Aloft Downtown Tampa for a business trip, and I must say, it was an experience worth sharing. From the vibrant and spacious ambiance to the added convenience of valet parking, this hotel had its charms. Finding parking in downtown Tampa can be a challenge, so having valet service was definitely a plus. However, one minor downside was the inability to call from the room and request the car to be ready a few minutes prior to departure. Perhaps it was due to the hotel being busy during my stay, with a high demand for valet services and potentially fewer staff members available. Nonetheless, this was not a significant issue but something I would have appreciated. Upon arrival, I made my way to the modern industrial-style lobby bar, where the bartender skillfully crafted a Moscow mule for me. It was the perfect refreshment after a long journey. Although I didn't explore their food options, as I had plans to dine with friends in the Tampa area, I found the lobby bar to be a trendy spot. One aspect that stood out was the hotel's excellent location. It took me only four minutes by car to reach the venue for my meeting the following day. The convenience of being close to my destination was a definite advantage. As for the room, I opted for the top-floor suite with a balcony. The modern/industrial decor style, typical of Aloft hotels, was beautifully reflected in the room's design. The balcony provided a breathtaking view of Tampa's waterway, adding a touch of awe to my stay. However, it's worth mentioning that there were multiple "no smoking" signs on the balcony, which, as a cigar enthusiast, was a slight disappointment. Given the splendid view, it would have been enjoyable to indulge in a cigar while taking it all in. Regarding the cost, I found it slightly higher than expected for a three-star hotel. However, considering its prime location, it was understandable. While Aloft Downtown Tampa may not be my top choice in the Tampa area, I would have no reservations about staying there again if the opportunity arises. In conclusion, my visit to Aloft Downtown Tampa left a positive impression. Its vibrant atmosphere, convenient amenities like valet parking, and the stylish lobby bar made for a memorable experience. The stunning view from the balcony of the well-appointed suite added a touch of elegance. Although there were minor inconveniences, they did not overshadow the overall satisfaction of my stay. If you're looking for a colorful and conveniently located hotel in Tampa, Aloft Downtown is worth considering.

Great view
The location was convenient to the places I needed to go during my stay. It's very nice in the lobby and main hotel areas. Address says Kennedy but it's actually facing Ashley, not Kennedy. GPS is going to turn you on to Kennedy and there is no way to get into the hotel. It takes you across the bridge over the river. You must pass Kennedy and turn immediately right. It is valet parking only and a very small area to pull into which was often crowded with multiple cars. They have some luggage carts but they are very small. The floors the rooms are on are kind of like mazes and a little confusing. The room itself was very clean and comfortable, however as soon as you open the door you are standing looking at the bathroom so if you happen to be brushing your teeth in front of the sink after getting out of the shower and someone opens the door to your room everyone in the hallway can see you. I did not care for that. It's a bowl sink that sits on top of a small counter so you do not have a lot of counter space. The room is set up kind of like a studio. There is no actual closet there is a headboard about 18 in thick that is the room divider/closet. You have about a 12-in bar to hang clothes on maximum. The bedroom itself has a king size bed with about 3 ft to walk on one side and 4 ft on the other. At the foot of the bed are two I guess you would call them desks and a footstool in between. No dresser or anywhere to store your luggage. We literally had our suitcases open on the footstool for 3 Days living out of them. It was not the most convenient situation. We were there for a wedding so we had lots of things like dresses and suits for different events throughout the weekend and there was just nowhere to put anything. Upon our exit the front desk could not find a luggage cart so we had to make multiple trips down only to find all the luggage carts lined up outside by the valets not being used. I found 37 a day to park very expensive considering there's no option available. Also the rooms were very expensive. We stayed two nights with two nights of valet parking and it was $757. The staff was friendly but no one goes out of their way to help you. In addition my son was supposed to stay in the room with us and there was supposed to be a blow up bed for him. Even though we asked for the first night it still never arrived the entire time we were there. We ended up having to make other arrangements for him to sleep.

My birthday was yesterday and granted the front desk admin was very nice, but he didn’t give us an access code for the wifi. We had issues with checking in, but he did accommodate with an upgrade for our room. The man at the front in the morning didn’t seem like he cared to answer questions, he was very short and was on his phone as well. Changing the review now, we talked to the manager and she made sure our experience was better. So thank you

The room was super cold and takes a while for the temperature to change, and there wasn’t enough towels in the room, only one of everything. Granted the view is breathtaking and it’s very modern, but we could hear what the people under us were doing.
Food & drinks
For breakfast, you have to order at the front desk, then come back and pick up the food at the hot food window. Which is cool, but when we tried to ask the lady who was cooking a question, she was on her phone. The food was not all that great to be honest, try scrambled eggs tasted microwaved and my berry waffle tasted like it was out of a package. Then it was put in plastic. Good thing we had a breakfast voucher, or it would have been a waste of $20.

Pictures on line show a much brighter, happier decor, when in actuality, it is so dark, and the whole place is like a college dorm! We had two king rooms and one room with a double 9/2/22-9/5/22. Rooms are small, claustrophobic, and two people cannot move around freely in the king rooms, nor the narrow sink/bathroom area. There was slightly more space in the double bed room, but again, better for one person. The room Decor is dark gray wallpaper, dark carpet, and there was one narrow window in each room with views of brick walls. I would never ever stay here again or recommend this place. It’s very loud with traffic noise and thin inner walls. The valet costs $30/day, but the staff was outstanding and pleasant, especially the two young men that worked the weekend we were there and they deserve raises. Housekeeping spent over 30 minutes personally chatting loudly outside our door, and also didn’t clean our room until I asked the front desk. The men working the front desk were not friendly. Accolades to the front desk gal when we checked in on 9-2-22 as she was very pleasant and helpful. With all that being said, If you have no choice other than to stay at the Aloft downtown, then make sure to book a Riverwalk room with a balcony!!!

I paid for a king bed with a view of the river. The photos on your website showed a huge bay window viewing the river. Unfortunately, the only view of the river my room had was a small window in the bathroom. Even that wasn't good. It mostly faced the bridge going over the river. And just one other small window facing a building. I called the front desk to see if they had a better room available, and they said they were "basically fully booked." It was not worth the $263 I paid for one night. It's just a false advertisement at this point. As we were checking out, I decided to take photos of the room so other people don't get scammed by this false advertisement. One good thing I did like about the room was the shower. The shower had some good water pressure. My wife liked the smell of the body wash they supplied in the shower. Expect an additional charge of $35 per night for valet, plus tax. Their valet drive was so tiny and unorganized. We were almost not able to pull in off the street, and there was only one other car in front of us. There's a few places to eat or drink within walking distance. However we ran into a few places being closed already at 8:00pm on a Saturday night.

Update: Brian called and resolved the issue and made up for it. It’s not that problems should never occurred, what matters is that they take ownership, solve and improve. Which is EXACTLY what Brian did! He totally deserves a raise for his excellent leadership skills and independent leadership styled management. Great job Aloft on hiring Brian for earning you this 5 star review. —————— bad customer service at front desk, girl was busy with another person, approached the guy was rude and not willing to help. I asked about parking and he said Valet only or no parking then he said he was actually doing something that was not able to help me, what’s more important to help a customer at front desk to check-in? kept on working on his computer, someone else approached and he started helping her, not sure if it was unwillingness to help or having a bad day, but horrible experience. Waited for a while and had to ask the girl to help me, got waited on there for a long time because I was not Florida resident even though I had entered my home address on the booking. The room is nice and clean fortunately and will update this review after we leave, still mad about how I was treated at the front desk, utter disrespect.
A friend and I stayed for two nights. The Location The best part of our stay was the location; the hotel is central to many fun activities and attractions in downtown Tampa. Food & Drink The food and drink options (it's a sorta self-serve snack bar) are very disappointing and overpriced. The hotel could benefit from vending machines but I figure this is about their profit and bottom line. The WXYZ bartender admitted he wasn't familiar with the drink menu, saying the hotel changed it on him, so our drinks were extremely subpar and were not made correctly. Rooms The rooms are simplistic and has everything you'd need or expect from a modern hotel room. However, the walls and hotel room door however are paper thin, so you hear everything happening in the halls outside of your room. We even heard the neighbor open his door across from ours and it sounded like they were entering our room; we had to get up and check. Overall, this stay was very average and I likely won't recommend. There's better hotels downtown with better value for the money.

Don’t recommend this place! Our visit to Tampa for the Beyoncé concert turned out to be quite disappointing. Despite booking a nice room a month in advance, our arrival at 4 pm was met with the disheartening news that there was no available room due to an AC problem. This unfortunate situation was made worse by the lack of prior notice. Management should of called and let us know earlier about their issue. They acted like nothing. The AC was ran out in morning so they could of call us earlier and we could find a new room… they did nothing! The front desk staff suggested we call the booking company to find an alternative place to stay just a few hours before the much-anticipated event. It wasn't the company's fault, and the hotel employees didn’t handled the situation at all! Regrettably, with all hotels fully booked that night, we had to embark on a two-hour drive to my family's house after the concert. This experience left us feeling quite disheartened, and I sincerely hope others don't have to go through the same ordeal.

Awful overall experience. Everything in my room was broken and the room itself was tiny, dark, and completely not what I expected when I booked. If they try to give you room 312- ask for a different room. I'm from NYC and the hotel room was smaller than most hotels here and equally expensive. The fridge was totally broken and smelled terrible. The smell permeated into the entire room. The blinds were completely broken and ripped in a way that appeared as if the hotel management might know about and were trying to hide. There were also stories of others I knew staying there having ant infestations. The people at the front desk were generally unhelpful and dismissive. Additionally, the phones didn't work in any of the rooms me/my friends were in and they somehow removed my stay from my Bonvoy account and did not give me points for staying there and paying over $400. Overall, my previous stay in the downtown Tampa Courtyard Marriott was MUCH better- both service and rooms.

So… we had the opportunity to stay here, and were excited as we hadn’t stay at an A Loft before. Here was our experience: Cons: - Valet is the only option and costs $35 - We went to check in and one girl just looked at us while a gentleman was playing on his phone. Not much of a welcome - The room was the smallest we have ever stayed in - Coffee and tea items were not stocked at all upon entry to our room - Checked our vehicle from our phone and valet had left it UNLOCKED - The toilet didn’t flush in the morning. - For “breakfast” we asked what kind of bagel they had, and the person behind the counter who didn’t speak English well said, “The kind with a hole in it.”, who was also on his phone - Walls were thin. We heard the toilet next to our room gurgling for two hours, heard doors slamming, and heard conversation from a room nearby Pros: - Nice view of downtown Tampa - The shower was nice - Close to the arena

Aloft hotel is an excellent place to stay in Tampa, especially if you are traveling with your furry friends. The hotel staff is incredibly accommodating and welcoming, especially to those with pets. The fact that they exceeded my expectations in terms of hospitality by assisting my husband with romantic surprises and gestures is truly remarkable. The views of the river are also wonderful, and it was lovely to enjoy them during my stay. Spending time with loved ones while enjoying the hotel's amenities makes for a memorable experience. Overall, Aloft hotel in Downtown Tampa I highly recommended for couples traveling with pets who are looking for a romantic escape. The hotel staff is incredibly attentive and kind, and the views of the river are enjoyable.

The Aloft Tampa Downtown was a nice place to stay. The pool provided a great view of the river and sunset ambiance. The front -desk staff was professional and took the time to get to know me and follow up with me during my 2 night stay. Valet parking is $35/night! I did notice a parking garage close by with a lower daily/overnight rate of $19 or so when I was walking around my second evening checking out the downtown area.. It was a few blocks from the hotel, next time I stay here I'll probably walk the few extra blocks to save about $15 each night, after 2 stays $70 to have the hotel park the car was slightly annoying. Other than that, the staff was super friendly and I'll keep this location in mind for my next stay in Tampa! It's also a few blocks away from the free TECO Trolley which goes through downtown & into Ybor City

Rooms are nice and modern, very similar to the Moxy brand. Location is fantastic if you need downtown Tampa and it's a short ride to Ybor City. Check in and valet both efficient and friendly. I dinged the service though as the bar had nobody tending it which was sad on a nice afternoon... And breakfast had to be ordered from the check in desk which seems silly and we waited and abandoned getting food as there was only one employee handling about 5 folks... Seems like maybe a tablet wit a digital menu option... Or letting the kitchen staff take an order? In any case, great overall, just some nitpicky stuff in terms of the overall experience.

The room smelled like pee. The room was clearly a room where either a dog urinated or some people. The microwave did not work. We found that out after taking out some food that we were going to heat up and eat. The staff except for one young lady was very unprofessional. The remote in our room didn't work. The young lady at the front desk came to our room and actually replaced the remote. She said she would comp us for the inconvenience. I just want folks to know that this hotel is not clean, staff sucks (except for 1). Its in a great location, but they need to improve on customer service and the cleanliness of the rooms.

Rooms were nice, location is excellent. Service there is just horrible, some of the employees at the front desk seemed to not want to there and unmotivated. There was a misunderstanding about complementary food. I felt harassed by one of the managers there after being asked to purchase some of the food items that were set out. I sat them back down me assuming they were free and proceeded to go to my room. Then that same manager follows me to the elevator and asks me if I had a room as I’m some strangler wandering in. Completely unacceptable and kind of ruined my experience at Aloft.

Booked the hotel requested king suite with balcony come to check in everything went smooth until we get in the room. It was a standard king with city view. Called down to the front desk and she moved our room to 808. When we first walked in the room smelled like cheese immediate turn off. Then the layout of the room is HORRIBLE no windows just walls. It’s a bland basic set up. Then the concrete slab to get to the balcony looks crazy. You walk outside to a ok view very spacious though. Front desk receptionist and valley were kind and helpful other than that I was highly disappointed 2/10 do not recommend.

The Aloft Tampa Downtown met expectations. I am normally very generous with my reviews and I am holding back due to a billing issue that was resolved after my stay with some E-mail correspondence and we were disturbed in the AM hours despite having a do-not-disturb sign on our guestroom door for our entire stay. Our stay was for a weekend visiting friends that lived locally and all our activities were casual in nature. One bright spot about the hotel was the silent disco that took over the lobby and pool on Saturday night. It was refreshing to see so many people having so much fun and props to the Aloft for providing the venue.

The worst hotel in Downtown Tampa. I checked in Friday night. There was hair in my bed in the sink and the shower. There was also mold in the shower. I packed back up and left friday night. The rate was 380 a night and this is what I walk into?!?! Still waiting on a manager to process my refund. Marriott properties has continued to disappoint and I will be sure to stay at a hilton property going foward. I feel bad for the staff becuase there is no direction or leadership from management. Check out the gross shower photos that make this place look like a motel 6. Actually Ive stated in nicer motels.

We checked in and the toilet wasn’t flushed in our room when we walked in. Told the manager immediately and all they offered was a $20 voucher at the bar. When we tried using it at the bar they said that bar was closed for tonight and tomorrow. The manager doesnt really care about giving good service. But the staff was nice. If you’re a neat freak. Do not stay here. I really don’t like giving negative feedback but I really feel like I have to :(

Oh I could go on and on about this hotel, but in short don't come here and expect great service. I've stayed in over 300 Marriott Properties all across the world and this is by far the worst. AC issues, Fridge wasn't working even after a replacement, broken bathroom doors, sanitary issues and incredibly bad customer service. The hotel is in the proccess of new ownership and doesn't want to issue any refunds either because it would look bad on them. Just avoid this place. Brian the front desk manager is extremely rude and doesn't know what he's doing. Vishati (?) can't even return a call.
I recently got news that this place is under new ownership. I look forward to the change to come. I recently tried to book the venue for an event and I was I was told by Chris that they don’t do Bussiness with people like me. I often stop by to have a drink at the bar (bartender 5* btw) and I attend the events that they have monthly. I’m Looking forward to more diversity and not just when the black dollar is being spent.

Great views. We had a corner spot with a balcony to see the river and the big windows to see downtown. The rainfall shower was relaxing and refreshing. The lounge was nice but I think food and a dance floor would’ve been a nice addition. Bartender made some great drinks. It being right there before you go up to your room was clutch. I didn’t like that there was no microwave in the room. There was so much space and the balcony was huge. Overall we had a great experience, it was in walking distance to a lot of places and their hospitality is on point.
Great location on the river walk. The rooms are nice and well appointed. It's clean and comfortable. Would be 5 stars but the doors are super loud when they close, so I was woken up by neighbors throughout the night. Also, my window shade fell off during my first night there, so sun came in and woke me up. I let the front desk know and they said someone would fix it, however no one did.

I definitely stayed in the same room as a previous reviewer, Heather. Chair is still stained BTW. Room smelled like pee, lobby has a funky smell too. Thermostat only goes to 67, but it's more like 74 in here. Had to get a box fan at midnight from the front desk just so I could sleep. I'll just stick to a holiday Inn Express next time. Edit: I got my room switched and the AC works and it doesn't smell like pee, so I'll change my review to 3 stars.

The front desk girl was incredibly rude. The room was nice enough. It had a gross smell to it the first two days of our five day stay. But the bed was super comfortable and the location was convenient for what we were in town for.

The hotel is located in a prime location of Tampa bay. It’s in the beautiful downtown district with places of interest close by. The establishment has a nice outdoor pool on the rooftop, decent size gym, pool table in the lobby and a nice bar (which was closed for some reason). The staff is pleasant and respectful too! Stepping up their housekeeping game a bit would put this review at 5 stars. Quite satisfied with my stay overall.
Clean room and friendly staff. Stayed here for a conference at the convention center (10min walk). Breakfast options are fairly limited. Not too much options nearby either. Ended up going to the Starbucks at the Hilton two blocks over. Rooms were well kept, though the pillows were very flat. I'd stay here again.

The absolute worst! Old, dated, dusty and most of the decor is torn, ripped and faded. We were scammed by the photos online verses the reality of the current conditions. They offered no food in the bar or the little eating area!!! No food! The pool table was old and broke and most importantly the manager was rude and totally unprofessional! I will never stay here nor recommend this place to my worst enemy!
Perhaps the worst value and second worst hotel experience ever( no rats ran over me so not worst). 2 nights featured AC breaking in 2 different rooms. No coffee service after the first day and of course no room cleaning either. Worn and dirty. Loud. Front desk exceeding nice, but not able to help at all - their managers fault, not theirs. I will not come to Tampa again if it is my only option.
This is a great hotel in the middle of everything in Tampa. The Riverwalk is just out back, we had a river view room. You can walk to Sparkman Wharf, Armature Works and more for a great weekend away. We enjoyed the view and stay.

The shower did leak onto the floor and the shower tiles themselves are VERY slippery- I almost fell and automatically thought of my Grandma trying this and breaking her hip.
I love Aloft hotels! Very clean, consistent experience every time. Tampa has an amazing pool and the bartender Ron is a treasure! He’s personable and just good at his job. Highly recommend!

Luxury, Great view
Great location, very nice valet but the noise in your room makes you unable to sleep. From the windows being thin to the walls basically being a sheet of paper it is not great unless you are here to party or don’t mind hearing ambulances all night.

Great hotel and staff was excellent. Bartenders Ron and Emily are by far the most enjoyable bartenders I’ve experienced with Marriott.

Upon check-in the safe was broken in my room. I called the front desk and asked for it to be fixed or to switch rooms, since I needed to use the safe. I informed the desk that I had a dinner appointment and needed to start getting ready. I … Read more on Aloft Tampa Downtown
Everyone was really nice. The valet drivers were all super helpful. The room was nice . Great location to do the riverwalk. And lot's of good restaurants nearby. The art was really awesome as well. Dog friendly.

Impressively bad customer service. When the people were actually at the front desk (and not hiding in the back) their noses were deep in their phones, wouldn’t even look up to greet customers. Ok rooms, nice with a pool table. And conference room was ok.
Check-in went smoothly, nothing else did. I arrived in my room, standard Aloft room with a nice view but I noticed that the entire control panel for the safe was hanging by a thread, dangling. I needed to lock up a valuable, get ready for a
Great location on riverwalk. The hotel was pretty clean and modern. Friendly, accommodating staff. Did notice though that our pillows were on the flat side and the bedsheets were quite pilled. Our window shade in our room was not installed
My husband and I just celebrated our wedding weekend, and we chose to do a room block at the Aloft for our family and friends. I'm so glad I chose this hotel! First of all, the location was perfect. Close to the riverwalk, restaurants, and
Booked for a wedding for three nights. Extremely disappointed in the cleanliness of the room. Reported that there was no soap for shower and was given shampoo to bath with. Requested that trash be emptied, it never was. Requested that wet
Do not recommend!! We walked into the room and were slapped in the face an awful smell of urine mixed with a sweaty gym. Immediately upon laying in the hotel bed, both my boyfriend and I started to feel extremely congested and stuffy. We
I came to this hotel on a work trip this week and unfortunately I was very disappointed. It's almost like a dorm that got turned into a hotel. There is no customer parking at this location, it is valet only and to park throughout the day
We stayed here for one night while in Tampa and had a nice experience. The staff was very helpful and nice. The room was clean and simple with plenty of room for the three of us that stayed there. We also had a nice partial view of the
Very good location for my business trip and I could easily see this as a great spot for a leisure trip. Right off the riverwalk provides nice options for walking to a number of bars and restaurants. Easy ride to/from the airport too.
I expected more from a Marriott hotel... I have never paid over $200 for a night in a hotel room and not had a microwave in it. The fact that I have to go to another floor and use a microwave from the 1980's is astinine and a major
I like the location but there was a wet spot on the floor of my room and it never dried for 2”48 hours. Room was not the cleanest but people were nice. Location was good.

Aloft brand is very consistent. So, if you’re going to a city you don’t know and want to stay in a modern hotel with a central location in TPA. This is a good hotel.

Good hotel in the heart of downtown. Restaurants are pricey in the area. Everything as expected. Valet parking is 35 a day and they've got a nice little pool area.
