I looked up Alvin’s online while seeking to repair the AC for my husband’s Nissan Versa. They charged the unit with dyed coolant. There were no leaks. (If there had been leaks, the dye would have supposedly allowed them to locate the areas that needed repair.). The coolant had dissipated over a long period of time. Meanwhile, I had them perform an overview of fluids, tires, etc. They showed me that the tires were low on tread and cracked and that a strut had some mis function. They assessed fluid levels and let me know what was urgent and what could wait for how long. (I told them to do all that was needed so that my husband could use the car for awhile w/o maintenance.). I did not shop around but the prices seemed reasonable compared to what I have paid for car repairs over about 35 years as a driver in California (mostly in the Bay Area). The staff is friendly and knowledgeable - and when someone on the phone did not have an answer for me, he investigated and got back to me. Note that there is a sister shop in Milpitas with same owners. They did not offer a loaner or to drive me home (I did not ask) but I was able to use Uber and Lyft and my bike. Located in Willow Glen, probably plenty to do if you wait for repair to take place. I had work done over two days and the car was ready to take home by 5:30 (close) each of the two days. No problems w car in the 3 days since the repair. I will return to Alvin’s, given this experience. I will try to send an update in a few months and for my next visit there. Waiting room is clean, air conditioned and comfortable. There was a water cooler. They kindly allowed me to bring in my (clean) bike while checking out. Note that you may have to get the attention of staff if no one is in the room. Nip around the side or tap on the window if you see someone outside. Might be handy for them to put in a bell or alert.

My car was miss firing and then check engine light went on. I needed to find where I can take my car in. I did a search on yelp and came across Alvin's auto care and it was just down the street from me too! I was very stressed out! So, I called and spoke to Anthony, he was very kind spoken, told him my concerns and I was able to take my car in that same day Monday January 3, 2022. He and his associates checked what was going on with my car the same day. I approved the necessary work to be done and they had my car done by Wednesday evening. It is hard to find auto shops that are honest, especially now a days and Alvin's auto care are those guys. They did a great job fixing my car. In addition I like how they diagnosed my car and sent the information either text or email along with pictures of the issues. It is the first time I've seen an auto shop that does that. It gave me confidence and a piece of mind that they are honest and really care about their customers. I will continue to go to them for my car needs and recommend Alvin's auto care.

I called Alvin's Auto Center when I saw the great Google reviews. Our 2012 Prius had its catalytic converter stolen back in January and we were on a waiting list at the dealership for a replacement. It was now 8 months later with no sign of getting it fixed. So when I called up Alvin's, I had low expectations that they'd be able to help. Right away, Tony let me know they actually had a catalytic converter that could quite possibly be the part I need. He called the dealership to verify before I scheduled the tow to the shop. Thankfully it was the right part. For parts and labor it was around $3700 (my insurance quoted me $2400). Tony worked with my insurance company, which turned out to be quite a headache, but in the end I only needed to pay my deductible and my insurance picked up the supplemental cost. Tony was beyond patient with the hundred questions I had and the Prius was back to working order in a matter of days. I highly recommend Alvin's Auto Center for your car repair needs.

I recently purchased a 2018 Lexus, and although low miles I wanted to have it serviced and not pay dealer price, so I went online. Alvin's had many good reviews, but closed on weekends, my days off from work. However, I was given veterans day off, so around noon I called Alvin's. I was told they are booked for the day and could i bring it in on Monday. I explained my situation and was told I'd get a call back in 15 if I can be squeezed in. I got a call from Anthony. Told me to be there by 3PM and he'll have a lift open to perform the service. Anthony was very proficient and efficient; AND, seeing I'm a veteran gave me a discount for veterans day. I highly recommend Alvin's on Lincoln in the Willow Glen district. Alvin's will be doing all my future needs on my Lexus.

I got my 2018 Porsche Macan to Alvin's Auto Center for what I thought was a stolen catalytic converter issue. Anthony was our point of contact and he was such a pleasant person to work with. He immediately got the inspection going, sent us pictures & kept us posted on what needs to be done & how much it's gonna cost. Turns out the thieves stole the muffler section. Once I gave him my farmer's insurance claim number, he synced with insurance & got the amount approved. He placed order for the OEM part with the dealer and got it fixed immediately the day it got delivered. We had such a great & professional experience throughout with Anthony at Alvin's. So glad we found them. Will definitely stick to them for any of our future auto needs. Highly recommend them!

Couldn't have asked for more professional service !!! When I dropped off my vehicle, I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the shop and friendly service !!! Tony, Alvin's son was very kind and helpful he helped me get a rental car at a discounted rate and gave me a quote before they proceed with the work !!! This was my first visit to Alvin's, for my newly purchased 2009 Prius. I am very happy with the attentive and knowledgeable service Tony and Andy provided. They even spotted some items that the local Toyota dealership had gotten wrong in its pre-purchase inspection of the car. Overall the work performed at Alvin's was efficient and fairly priced, and they didn't try to push any maintenance or repair items that weren't necessary at this time. I appreciated that they texted me actual photos of each part of my car that had issues. I had an issue with my 2013 Honda Civic where all my lights turned on in the dashboard. Alvin’s auto center, did a full diagnostic, and figured out exactly what the problem was and sent over pictures and a full quote which was very reasonable. I especially loved how technology advanced they are where you can get all the diagnostic, pictures and quotes directly to your phone cue a text message. Anthony runs a clean, new shop but brings years of family tradition in expertise, great communication, and honesty. His shop has grown and they are always finding ways to improve. Less than a year after taking my classic car in for service, they have grown in service and clientele which is a telling sign. I had an excellent experience with Anthony and Alvin, when I went to get my car serviced. Both of them are very knowledgeable and trustworthy, and they were extremely diligent when it came to keeping track of what actually needed to be serviced. I was able to get it done within a few hours with no hassles at all. Another pro of dealing with Anthony and Alvin is that the costs are always stated upfront, before the work starts. They exemplify what it means to be "customer first". I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone.

I drive 1.5 hrs just so this shop can take care of my cars needs. Their customer service is excellent. Their prices are fair. I love the format they use so that clients can see what the mechanical issues are, pictures of the issues, and quote prices you can click on to approve or deny. The whole process is simplistic and fair. I don't feel like I'm being hussled when I go in and I'm treated with respect and courtesy. Alvins is great! Honest, open and skilled, they diagnosed my 09 Audi A4 quickly and accurately. Unfortunately after diagnosis, I am going to scrap the car, but they were quick to reach a conclusion I was almost already assured was inevitable. They didn't try to get me to unnecessarily spend money or lead my down the wrong path, which Ive heard is common with the type of failure my engine sustained. Will be taking my cars to Alvin's whenever the work or diagnosis is beyond my personal skill level. Thanks guys!

I have been a customer of Alvin's Auto for about 30 yrs. First in Milpitas and now at their Willow Glen location. What I love about Alvin's is that I don't have to fear being taken advantage of. They have always been honest, straight forward and fair in their pricing. Over these many years, they have serviced my Toyota, Acura (4 models), Lexus and Mercedes. The Toyota and 2 Acuras were driven to almost 300K miles each. Lexus is around 300K now. Alvin and Tony are outstanding humans as well. :)

I recently took my Honda Fit to the dealersjp where I purchased it for a regular service. They said there were several issues that needed attention including a lug nut that they couldn’t remove. I took the car to Alvin’s in Willow Glen where they replaced the lug nut and found nothing wrong with the other things. Alvin’s has done some significant work on my car at other times and have always done an excellent job at a reasonable price. I would in recommend them to anyone.

They have a friendly and efficient team. Tony was very helpful when I needed glass repair. He even offered to store my vehicle inside ahead of time because of the weather. They charged exactly what they quoted with no hidden taxes or fees. Their online estimate allowed me to select options for repair so that I didn’t have to spend additional time on the phone. Tony evaluated the roadworthiness of my car and provided honest feedback. I will definitely use this shop again.

Had a problem with my heater on a 2013 Lexus 460. Took it to the Lexus dealer and they gave me an estimate to repair that was over $2500. I went to Alvin’s repair who did a complete diagnostic. Turns out the radiator needed flushing for less than a third of the cost to repair. Hard to find a honest repair shop. I highly recommend this place. Anthony and Lou do a great job in resolving my issues and could not be more satisfied by their professionalism and integrity

Needed a steering wheel with airbags installed to replace aftermarket steering wheel, I provided the parts ( take off from vehicle) They scheduled me in, in the afternoon, even though I took couple of hours to decide what I wanted y to do. They got it into the shop, did a safety inspection and had it done in less than 3 hours . They were courteous and responsive. I had never used them before and had never even talked to them yet they provided outstanding service.

A perfect local spot right on the outskirts of Willow Glen (and right in my backyard)! Alvin's online appointment scheduling system was very easy and they confirmed my appointment within a few hours and I was able to get an oil change in a timely fashion (didn't have to schedule weeks out), which was a bit overdue. From drop off to pick up the customer service was top notch and it only took a couple hours to do. Thanks for the speedy and great service! :)

Tony was very helpful, polite, well educated, and patient with helping me diagnose and replace my catalytic converter. He gave me a detailed diagnosis and was open to helpful conversation about avoiding unnecessary costs. The work was quick (2 days) and only one day delay because of the part. The office is nice and clean, but the parking lot can be pretty narrow for some cars. I highly recommend this location and will comeback for future repairs.

This was was my first time using Alvin's Auto Center for auto maintenance. I found the experience completely positive. My appointment was for an 8AM oil change and I was serviced immediately. Anthony was friendly and professional . What stood out was his customer service, knowledge, and how he engaged with each customer individually. I will have no hesitation in bringing my Porsche Cayenne for service again! 5 star service!

I took my daughter's car here for an overdue oil change and to replace an engine shield. I had no problems getting an appointment, and the work was done within a day and at a good price. They also did a general inspection which was good as we hadn't had her car serviced in some time. They suggested some additional repairs. I did one of them and took care of the other myself. I think I now have a good mechanic I can trust.

I had a great experience bringing my car here. Louis did a detailed inspection of my car. They sent me a report, complete with pictures, showing everything they found. We then discussed the issues they found, the costs to address them, and the tradeoffs of fixing each versus letting it wait. In the end, I drove away with a car I felt confident about and a better sense of what's happening with it. I'll definitely be back!

The team at Alvin’s were great. They offer a free towing option if your within 3-miles which was wonderful. My ride needed a lot of work and they were relatively quick and communicated very well. Prices seemed very fair. I do think they should waive the $155 inspection fee if the customer agrees to perform the work recommended. Outside of that, I had a wonderful experience and will be returning when needed.

First and foremost…Excellent customer service! They are very thorough in communicating their diagnosis and findings. i only had an oil change done however they did list to me other concerns which needs attention. My only disappointment was the price i was quoted on a brake job. i’m the type that calls around for comparison and unfortunately their quote came in $300 more than two other shops i inquired with.

Tony was awesome to work with. He was quick to respond and communicated what he believed the problem to be and the steps he will take to try and resolve it. We let him know the steering wheel would shake when braking on the freeway. And when we got it back, problem was fixed! He did only what was needed to fix the problem. Will be taking our cars here for future issues and routine services.

Alvin’s Inspection of the car recommended $2,000 of repair. I took the car to my regular mechanic and he said all the parts were functional and have 20k to 30k of life left on them. The issues were cosmetic in nature. It seems like they are trying to “up sell” to make money at customers expense. Better clarity and definition of the findings would have helped.

I had researched best shops to take my Hyundai to in SJ and came across Alvins. They took care of all my issues and were fairly priced. The communication was definitely there, and I never felt like they were trying to get me to pay for extra services that weren't necessary. Overall really nice people. Would definitely return for my next repair.

I went there to replace the central differential in my 2011 Subaru Impreza. The car had the problem for more than two years and no mechanic was able to diagnose, including the dealer. The service was quick, at very good price, with excellent communication. I would go back for other recommended services.
