In 1916, the GPO Building was at the centre of the Easter Uprising. The GPO building has of course been restored from the result of the battle. The striking building is a fine example of Georgian architecture. The neo-classical front of the building has six beautiful Ionic columns, topped with a pediment where stands statues of Mercury, Fidelity on the right, and Hibernia in the centre, resting on her spear and holding a harp. The impressive exterior is matched by a restored interior with plenty of brass and wood details. The GPO building also houses an exhibition of the Easter Uprising. There's a lot of information about the event and I thought very impressive in the depth of the information provided. The highlight of the exhibition is probably the film re-enacting GPO's use as the command centre of the uprising, and the video interviews with various historians analysing the result of the uprising. Good to see an exhibition that doesn't try to dumb down the information in the interest of accessibility. Well worth a visit if in Dublin.

Very famous GPO (General Post Office) in Dublin with rich history behind. This building played an important role in the 1916 rise and you still can see the bullet holes in the columns outside. As well the outside as the inside of this building show beautiful architecture. I also did particularly like the wooden table, furniture and big post box in the main hall. Besides the classical post office activities you will find adjacent to the main building parcel services on the left and a museum and a shop on the right side . Surely worth while visiting. Most of the tourist tours stop there.

My parcel was stolen since July and I made the complaint but they never replied. I have to say it is the first time I send a parcel to Italy (with the letters no problem, all the time they have arrived), so I think there has to be a way to track correctly our parcels as it is very frustrating to waste our items and the money payed and they seem to do not mind at all. What an awful experience! Be careful sending parcels abroad!, local service in Ireland may be different, I hope.

So Anpost offers this service called address pal for which they charge €6.50 per item and then they add another €3.5 admin fee for any item you have to pay VAT/duty on top, which they know will happen most of the time. That’s an absolute rip off but sadly an post is a government monopoly. Worst post service in the world (also takes 11 days to deliver a letter) They make other parcel delivery service efficient and that’s a hard call

One of the prime attraction in the heart of Dublin City. This place has lot of history and inside as well it is a piece of history. A must see place in Dublin. It's a building built in 18th century with lot of historical happenings held at this place. Try out the AnPost souvenir from the stores which is worth for sure.

The legendary General post office aka GPO, a place of cultural and historic significance and yet available for daily use. Quite large for postings, speed postal services, purchase of cards and small phones, currency exchange, also has a museum. The staff here are great. Got a free card when I visited.

Quick and Wonderful Staff, from International Post to Local. A bit pricey for the international packages, so get your own boxes somewhere else. They got DHL as well and that's Handy. I love there Displays during the holidays inside and out and the Museum inside is worth a look. Loads of History here.

Originally built as the main post office (GPO), in early 19th Cent., in Georgian architecture style. During the Easter Rising of 1916, the GPO served as the headquarters of the uprising's leaders. Today, the beautiful building still serves as a post office and it holds an interesting small museum .

One of the most important building in early 20th century's Irish revolution history, the army used it as its HQ fight against English troops during Easter Rising, 1916. Now it's an ordinary postal service building...and don't forget to pay extra attention to it while sending postcards.

Went to get my package and a lady working there at counter 17 was extremely rude for no apparent reason. I didn’t have physical ID on me and she began yelling at me, while my friend was with me JUST BECAUSE we got sent there by another man on counter 1. :/ so scared to go back bro

Had a lovely experience with two staff on two different days. Pleasant, smiling, helpful. A real pleasure doing business here, and 4 cashiers open, unlike my branch of AIB, with interminable waiting time because there is only ever one cashier working. Well done staff at the GPO!

It has been highly referenced as GPO (General Post Office) in Dublin Ireland. Which is very rich in its history. It played a leading role in the 1916 uprising. It’s a living monument of how the Irish fought for their independence. How the

An iconic historical site not to be missed. This place is loaded with all the memories of the heroic struggles of its people. One simply stands in awe among the relics and artifices. May those who have fallen rest in power.

Great to see that this historic building which saw fierce fighting in the 1916 Easter uprising has been looked after so well. Very clean and amazing to see the building open on a Sunday.

  • Mof Gimmers

Great exhibitions and installations for anyone with an interest in history (specifically Irish history, obviously). Immersive, well laid out, and very interesting. Highly recommended.

Architecturally beautiful post office that also serves as a landmark. Inside you’ll find all your post office service needs alongside great service. The interior is fittingly large.

An amazing amount of history to learn about! I did not know the amount of struggle that Ireland has made it through. I spent about 3 hours here, and could've easily spent 3 more.

  • Teresa Moore

I enjoyed the museum I really liked the headphones and being able to paces around and look at different things while listing. I loved how interactive it all was.

  • Rhys Flinter

Third world tier customer service and accountability. Items go missing and get stolen in their supply chain and despite being registered there's no compensation.

The GPO is lovely at Christmas with decorations. It is busy this time of year, but the staff get through the queues quickly.
