Yep, this place right here. Seems we always find these smooth little joints that have been here in Kansas City but we've yet to encounter them. Such is Anchor Island Coffee. If you blink your eye you may pass by without seeing it as you cruise down Troost. It's on the East side of Troost at the exact corner of 41st Street. Now let's get into it. He gets drip and dashes. I get tea and a tamale and stay. The shop is quaint in size and accommodates about 16 folks comfortably. Love that coziness. The music is a beautiful array of Latin artists that invite you to dance, shimmy or something. The Christmas music is fabulous!!! The pork tamale I had was insanely great as evidenced by the bite taken before the picture. Oops. It was so tender and seasoned perfectly. The masa was exquisite, fluffy and the filling had a good ratio, flavorful and cooked to perfection. I hate that I didn't have more than 1. I wonder if they offer special pricing for a half dozen or so to go? Thank you to the Kitchen for a beautiful tamale that I really loved. Chicken next time. We enjoyed the Barista who is so very kind and accommodating! The way he took charge to suggest the proper Black tea for me was what I needed. We shall return especially on a weekday. They actually rotate coffee roasters from around our city so you can come here and experience the absolute BEST of Kansas City roasters!!!!!!! Are you kidding me?! That's a bonus that will make us return over and over and over.... Thanks for a great day!

Someone told my better half about this place, so we went to check it out. I was really pleased with everything!! I asked for suggestions on a coffee, and the barista suggested something. I told her that would be fine. Then I picked the Verde Chicken off the menu. The coffee was amazing! I wish I could remember the name of it. I will attach a picture, because it was really pretty. I even got a second one to go! The Verde chicken was really good! It was not very spicy, and had great flavor! The mango chutney made it hit different areas of the palate and was very enjoyable! When I went to order my second coffee to go, I stood at the counter and visited with the barista for a minute and learned a little about the place. Then the owner delivered my coffee and told us thank you for coming in. We will 100% be going back. Also, they have a little sliding window, and give a pup cup to people with their dogs! We saw a dog get one, and he was dancing as they handed it out the window! So cute!

I'M SO GLAD ANCHOR ISLAND EXISTS!!! ( An actual quote that came out of my mouth after finishing my Chori Papa burrito. And then drinking the green sauce. ) The blueberry caffe is my go to drink. It can brighten the worst of days. And the food? Also amazing. If anyone is looking for a new spot with great service, great coffee, and great food... This is the place. I usually door dash, but every time I've gone in everyone has been exceptionally friendly. I had a favorite coffee shop in Phoenix and it was hard to find one out here until I was introduced to Anchor Island. (Y'all are the reason I haven't moved home. )

Impressive local coffee and food shop on Troost! My daughter heard about it on Instagram through #coffeekansascity. We drove from Lees Summit just to try it. Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect but it was fantastic! Local coffee--I had Messenger black coffee and got the beans for home, too. They have different local beans for home brewing. Daughter had their blueberry latte with oat milk, which she loved. We split a delicious freshly-made egg breakfast burrito sans chorizo, and a yummy almond danish. There is a selection of fresh fruits and veggies, along with alt milks to take home. Employees were helpful and the owner was friendly and present. The whole shop was clean and adorable. We recommend this place and we'll definitely be back!
I am begging...BEGGING you to please have a counter person who's expediting takeout during peak hours. Every time I order breakfast there on the way to work I am stuck standing in line behind people casually looking at the menu and chatting with their friends about what they're going to get. I understand that we're not all moving at the same speed at 8:45 a.m., but after I've just circled the block three times to find parking, I'm not in the mood for somebody else's book club meeting. PLEASE. Begging! I love your egg breakfast. The horchata latte is everything. Everyone is always so nice. I just can't anymore with the slow counter service.

I love them all. The baristas are next level. I appreciate their love of community and the commitment to making us the best coffee and food available using fresh ingredients and made with loving care. This is none of the coffee houses that will give a cup of coffee to an unhoused person. They will embrace all community members no matter their perceived status. There are few places that cater to customers and ensure the best customer care experience. Ancho Island Coffee is all that and more! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, God bless you to the ends of the Earth

1st time customer! Love Love Loved it! Great atmosphere and asthetics. It has a real homey vibe. The owners Mike and Armando are Amazing! Were very nice and well kept place. They will welcome you with open arms. There is also a Kanbe's Market cooler at this location. So while you're getting your coffee or made to order food, stop by and pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables as well. I will be returning!

Nice local coffee space that’s actually on a little strip of come cool stores. They are not shy with flavors and you shouldn’t be shy with trying them! So good! The barista was so kind and held great conversation! The store itself was clean and smelled fresh— which makes it a more comfortable dining experience.

The perfect space to work out of the house. Delicious food, AMAZING coffee and wi-fi. The upstairs space is a cute little space with bright natural light, plants and ample places to plug in if needed. Also comfy booths but also the option of a chair if that is your jam. I had the Vegan Rice Bowl and Horchata Iced Coffee, if they didn't close at 4, I'd probably stay until bedtime Will definitely be back!

This was my second time visiting anchor island coffee. I got the breakfast burrito and a danish. The breakfast burrito was outstanding with great flavor and a tasty salsa on the side. My iced chai tea latte was also very good. Definitely worth stopping in as they have a fun menu and drink options.

The atmosphere is cozy. I love to tuck myself upstairs for work and meetings. The owners are some of the kindest people. They have bounced back from several incidents (a truck plowing through their building for example) with grace and a love for their community.
