Looks great. A little bit of a maze to get to from the parking lot but it's free parking downtown so no real complaints there. My biggest issue is that the employees denied me membership, for reasons unknown to me. I am part of the Active&Fit program through my insurance. This location appeared on the active&fit website and I added it because it is the closest gym to my home. When I went in person to talk to an employee to finalize my membership(as I have done in the past for Chuze, LA Fitness, Crunch, Planet Fitness without ever having any issues. All part of the active&fit procedure) I was told directly that I would not be getting a membership because they do not accept Active&Fit. I told them there must be a mistake because the website clearly list them as a gym that does and they were not listed before. Also every Anytime Fitness in the surrounding area is also on this list. She said that they do not accept it at this location, and would not budge but could not tell me a real reason why other Anytime Fitness accept active&fit but they don't. I left obviously annoyed and thinking maybe since they are new they are still working out some of the kinks?
The restrooms are always dirty. I've been in the mornings and three times the toilets were disgusting. I've always went multiple times in the afternoon. Toilet paper and trash just scattered in the restrooms. Still dirty when I see the staff touring people. I also feel like the ladies who are employed don't do much but sit in the office. They're always sitting via my entire workout. Especially when they can be doing bathroom checks or ensuring the cleaning wipes are stocked. I've been to multiple locations where I see staff working or engaging with the members. The amount of squat racks is nice but not enough barbell clips. Very limited in amount of plates, I always see people having to grab it from other machines and not re-racking weights. They do have all the machines you need. Two full sets of cables which are nice.
This gym has made me feel motivated to exercise again. I have many reasons why I want to begin describing how I feel about this gym. To begin, the gym, is located in a beautiful building. It has a white marble lobby that gives a unique elegance to the place. When you enter the gym, it smells delicious, everything is clean, and the people who attend are respectful and very friendly. The machines and the equipment are TOP everything is new, I love that. Trainers are always with the best attitude to guide me during my workout. The best part I love is the restrooms. I can have my private bathroom to shower before work is so clean and big that I can get ready without feeling outside my home. I can't wait to come back again tomorrow! I'll be reaching my fitness goals faster than I thought here.
The gym was good and was a fair price for San Diego! Really loved that it is accessible 24 hours and the staff was always very friendly and helpful... including the security! It did start to get very crowded though (great for business but not for my workouts) although I do realize that I worked out during popular times in the evenings (from 5-11pm). The showers/bathrooms were not cleaned enough for me to feel comfortable using them. I love how they had free parking but 2 hours wasn't enough time and I wish they would allow for 3-4 hours of free parking! A gym that I would consider using again because they have many locations nationally and I enjoyed being able to use the gym when I traveled or went to visit my parents.
Joined about a year ago and can’t wait until my contract is up. The gym itself is serviceable, although tiny. However, the bathrooms are almost always in a state of disaster. Toilet paper everywhere, shower heads missing, clogged toilets, no running water, dirty floors, BUGS. They’re cleaned once a day I, but it’s not enough. The staff must have their own bathrooms to use or they simply don’t care. Switching gyms soon because I prefer to shower and go straight to work. For the price I’m paying I expected a far better experience. The photos below were taken on the same day. Nearly every bathroom had something awful going on. The one currently infested with bugs was being used
After a long wait, today finally was opening day for Anytime Fitness Downtown. Definitely worth the wait. The gym is straight to the point and has everything you need. Free weights, squat rack, deadlift platform, cardio machines, and stretch/flexibility center. Anytime Fitness is formulated not to get crowded. Therefore it's like having your own gym. It's located in the center of downtown. Free two-hour parking on site included. Riding on the MTS you'll find a bus stop in front of the main entrance or a trolley stop behind the parking garage. 24/7 security desk in the lobby. Anytime Fitness has everything needed to stay strong and fit.
Very disappointed. My key fob hasn’t worked for the tanning bed or the sauna since I signed up. What am I paying the extra for? I rarely have time to go in during the staffed hours to fix it so now I’m just paying for nothing basically. Now I hear you can only scan once per day? So I can only use the sauna OR tanning bed and only once a day…seems like a waste. Plus the Wi-Fi went down for like a week so “anytime” became just during staffed hours. The security person wasn’t there at 5AM either so that didn’t help. Definitely better options out there, this club started out good but management is slowly driving down the ratings.
Pros: -Great selection of equipment -Free parking -Mostly clean facility compared to some of the others in SD Cons -It took me 10-15 minutes to park and find the place because parking is in a high rise and they make you park way up top -there are not enough cleaning stations for the size of the gym and so folks do not wipe down their equipment after using it Overall, it’s fine but I stopped going to this gym because although the parking is free it’s too inconvenient and I don’t like the time limit. I also think a gym this size should be encouraging patrons to wipe down equipment more by having more cleaning stations.
Sabrina and her staff were so kind and wonderful. I was in town for work for a week, the first day I walked in I was greeted with a welcoming smile and got all the information/registered for the week in a timely fashion. The gym is a little smaller in size, however not so small that you feel like you’re on top of anyone else. It’s very clean and also has everything you need. I was doing my own work outs, but the trainers there were also very busy with their clients. If I lived in San Diego, I would definitely choose to work out at this gym and I would absolutely work with those trainers! Thanks for a great stay!
Save your money. I sent my son to try the gym with a free trial. They would not let him try it out without committing to a membership. They tried to charge him $80 and when he called me they lowered the price but tried to get him to do it for $31 but did not say it would be charged bi-weekly. I guess because he is a college student they did not take him seriously and also tried to rip him off. I sent him to EOS and 2 other gyms who let him try the gyms without hassling him about a membership and the price is much more reasonable. Please don't waste your time going here unless you just like to spend money.
Scare tactics... This anytime fitness will lie to you and tell you that you cannot obtain membership access if you are a part of the Active & Fit program. Save yourself the hassle, go to the Point Loma location (people rock btw!), they will sign you up, and then once your 30 days are up come back. Not sure what benefit turning away patrons seeking fitness and overall wellness accomplished but my hunch is it's sales related. This location is snooty, save yourself the initial frustration and sign up elsewhere. See you in 30 days! Or sooner if I come during business hours.
I want to thank Andrew for going above and beyond to get me sorted with gym access. I had to attend an event and came a bit earlier than when the staff came. Unfortunately I had to leave and was unable to get a pass in person, and he actually gave me his personal phone number and helped me get set up over the phone. I live and breathe the gym, and he helped make sure I'd be able to get my workouts in early in the morning. Thank you again, and looking forward to getting my leg workout in tomorrow. Just a very kind soul and helpful person. Definitely made my day.
So happy this Anytime finally opened! They have free 2hr parking (huge plus in this area!) Lots of free weights to choose from and awesome trainers to help you if you need a little help and confidence with your workouts like me just getting back into it and 24/7access with my key fob is super easy and perfect for my crazy schedule… it really helps with sticking to it knowing I can go anytime. Infrared and tanning is also the perfect relaxation with a good workout to really give you that glow and wind it down. Love everything about this place!
Was visiting from out of town, and saw this location was near my hotel. I really enjoyed this location. It had a good size, good selection of equipment, friendly management staff. I walked there, so I can't comment on the parking. What really impressed me was that they have tanning beds, multiple shower restrooms, lockers with real digital locks on them, and they had a room with traction tables in them! They even had Hypervolt massage guns in the traction room! Definitely one of the better AF locations in the U.S.
***updated review*** I'll update since I decided to give this one a try again. I'm not giving 5 stars cause I still had this trouble in the beginning. Parking garage and getting here is still complicated. But the facilities are very good, good environment. I guess it was worth the wait. **old** Sheesh you advertise you're open. I walk 20 minutes so I don't have to drive to rosecranse or el Cajon but you're not open till the end of May you might be the reason I cancel my membership...
Good gym, can recommend. It's got bumper plates and a mix of skinny bars and 32mm stiff bars. You'll get a decent session as a powerlifter/ Olympic weight lifter. It's also passable for bodybuilding, as the machines cover most areas. I found it lacking a good horizontal row, lateral delts machine, and hack squat. The hammer strength chest presses were good. Decent range of dumbbells. Day passes are 20 USD, staff were nice.
Unbelievable gym state of the art facility! So many weight machines to choose from. It’s 24/7 which is hard to find now. 2 free hours of parking in underground parking lot with security. Great bathroom so nice and clean. My favorite is the sauna and the tanning bed. They have excellent trainers too. So nice to have a gym like this in downtown San Diego. It was woth the wait
So excited for this location to open up!! It's going to be one of the biggest gyms in Southern California! I'm most excited for the tanning and sauna. This location also comes with parking-unheard of in Downtown! With my key fob I can access the gym 24 hours a day and even use all the other locations when I travel. Thank you Anytime for finally bringing what downtown needs!!
Closer to a 4.5. Clean restrooms, and I am not sure if it’s the layout or the sq ft., but seems spacious. There were more equipment and cardio machines than I am used to. I ❤️ the big rack this location has. The location was convenient b/c I am a visitor in a nearby hotel. But the central location and the steps you have to take to enter are different than most AFs
Best Anytime Fitness I have visited. Brand new equipment with beautiful people. They have an infrared sauna and unlimited tanning for an extra fee. Parking is also free for 2 hrs. Just make sure to validate your ticket and to actually leave before your 2 hrs are up. I went over by 1 minute and there was a parking fee. This gym is highly recommended.
Anytime Fitness downtown SD is a great gym if you live downtown. The facilities are clean, members get validated parking. Also the trainers are great especially Ryan. Management is great. Sabrina always helped me whenever I needed something. This gym has a sauna and a space for recovery. I highly recommend. Been a member for 6 months.
The gym is fine in terms of equipment and the staff is friendly but it’s getting crowded and way too hot inside now and it’s a small gym. They’re now keeping the temp at 73 degrees likely to save a buck and it’s making the gym unbearable to work out in. Gyms should be kept 68-70 degrees inside. Not renewing after my year is up.
Wowwwwww is all I can say. The wait was worth it. Downtown SD needed a gym like this. Free parking, safe , clean AF, fully equipped with hammer strength & life fitness. I even meant the owners and they were down to earth and great people. I signed up right away when the opened. Come by and check the place out
Just joined the gym after an injury and having to cancel my powerlifting sadly. The staff was very friendly and parking is safe and secure. The gym is clean and a decent size with all the essentials you need. Plus there is a blue bottle cafe a floor above which is a plus if you’re a coffee drinker.
I’ve been to many Anytime locations all over the country and this is *by far* the nicest Anytime I’ve ever been to. Plenty of options and new machines. It can get quite busy but usually not too bad. Only downside is the parking tower sucks and is a pain to get in and out of but the gym is worth it.
Great gym, I was in town on business and needed a gym to visit. The entire staff was beyond helpful and showed me around their facility. The equipment and locker rooms were impeccable, very well maintained. I wish this gym was in my hometown! Will be coming back when I’m in town.
Super clean, I can tell this location is brand new. The employee Joe didn't want to activate a guest pass for me or my friend since we were visiting from out of town. It would of been a nice addition if we paid for a day pass that we could of gotten a few days for free. 4/5
I LOVE this new location. I’ve been a member of Anytime Fitness for years because of the 24 hour access. This location is so clean and the equipment is brand new. Felt good to work out at a location where the members and staff are so friendly. I definitely will be back!
I have been a member for over two years with Anytime Fitness. Every location has treated me like family. After reading the previous review I was a little confused about the gym. Everyone knows it's not open yet. But anywho, hands down the best gym in San Diego!!
Massive delay. First projected opening date was for May 2022. Pushing almost to July now with almost no transparency to what's going on. If you're looking for a gym RIGHT NOW, please look elsewhere because this location likely won't open until after August.
New. Dumbbells to 120. 2 power racks. 2 stairmasters. Lots of weight machines. Plenty of room for stretching. Private showers. Could be more clean - try vacuuming once a week Not a big gym, but has what most people need. Bonus is you can come 24/7/365.
The gym is awesome! Open floor plan, huge fitness rooms to stretch / functional train, 6 squat racks, tons of machine, plenty of cardio, and the location is snazzy! Definitely going to be my new home base gym for Anytime. Come check it out!
When is this gym going to open? Give me a date. This whole few weeks thing keeps being said with no opening date. I thought I read somewhere opening day was 07/02/2022. You are losing business cause everyone is going to The Boxing Club.
Perfect spot if you frequent/work downtown. Parking is validated for the hour makes the flow of people perfect and doesn't get too crowded. Great selection of equipment and its located in a secure place with great healthy food options!
24/7, the staff was very friendly and great pricing. I work downtown and I can’t wait to go in right before or after my shift. (Ask about the team training option, you save in the long run) Oh and the place is huge! Thank you Anytime!
Awesome gym! Love the free parking and 24/7 access. Suck a clean gym not to mention tons of top quality free weights and machines. New gym smell and bathrooms are what u would expect out of a high end hotel, nice touch!
Absolutely love it here! Brand new equipment and very clean. It’s something about the atmosphere in there thats very motivating to just get in a really good workout in. Also smells amazing …
I can’t say enough how awesome the Anytime Fitness downtown gym is. It has a variety of equipment, clean, free parking, and the staff and trainers are so friendly. It is such a welcoming environment!!
Staff is awesome! Gym is super clean and has all the equipment you could need including a recovery room with Theraguns and various other recovery equipment. Also want to note the 24 hour access!
Pretty small and not great ventilation. Has all the equipment you need but you're probably gonna have to wait for it because of how many people there are in the small facility. Overall decent.
Great location and overall gym for your money! However, the training stuff here is phenomenal - highly recommend training here 1:1 or their team training classes are amazing!
No one answered the phone all day. Door is locked. Staff hours are listed on the door but that knowledge would have helped before I walked half a mile to get there.
Beautiful location and going to be the best gym in Downtown San Diego! And the ONLY 24/7 gym down there! Free parking, brand new equipment and tanning - I'm sold!
Incredible Facility, open 24 hours, an BRAND NEW EQUIPMENT! Also, super engaging team training program with UNLIMITED classes! So happy with this place
Six squat racks, three cable machines, every free weight you could need and brand new machines. This place is the best Anytime I've ever been to …
New gym that just opened downtown. As someone who is downtown everyday for work, appreciate an affordable gym with parking and showers. Cool spot.
Solid gym. Enough equipment. Good price. Bit dark down in the basement but really a small price to pay for a good workout at a decent cost.
Been trying to get a key so I can work out early been almost a week was told I would have to wait for tell Monday now I am done with them
Great club, great machines that run very smoothly, I went there during peak hours and could comfortably train. The staff is very kind!
This gym is great, everything is new and clean. The staff is extremely helpful and positive. I train with Andrew and he is amazing!!
24/7 gym Tons of free weights machines Free 2 hour parking Nice bathrooms Great trainers Infrared sauna Tanning All club access
Brand new gym in downtown that offers parking to its members! Brand new equipment and experienced staff that offers training!
Still in construction. Stated they should be open for working out in May 2022. Can't wait! This was written on 4/2/22.
$20 for a day pass isn’t bad. everything was clean, staff was super friendly and helpful, and they validate parking!
It's a rip off they charged me $47 bi weekly and tried to charge me a third time in one month for $53. Scam artist.
Excited to have a gym downtown with free 2 hour parking and 24/7 access Looking forward to opening day! …
Great gym, well located for those staying in Gaslamp. All the equipment is new and in tip top condition.
This gym did not respond to my email inquiry. That speaks volumes of their poor customer service.
Love the location and people! It’s been a great first few days, thanks for opening!
I am very glad I found this gym. It gives me the opportunity to train at any time.
Super nice clean gym, the 24h pass was 20$ which is in my opinion reasonable.
Beautiful new gym! Great location and free parking! Best value in downtown.
This gym is awesome! Clean, friendly staff, and good equipment.
Beautiful layout, parking great and brand new. Highly recommend
Great gym! Has everything you need to get any type of workout!
I don’t think this gym is open yet 06/27/22
Great place great workers can't complain
As of 05/05/2022 the gym is not open.
