I went to this post office for the first time in 15 years this week to do a mail redirection. It took 3 visits to get it done. On all 3 occasions, I was the only person in the tiny hole in the wall post office but I still had to wait a few minutes to get the attention of the one worker who was shopping on a tablet online & sending text messages on a phone around the corner of the room! In my first visit, the guy told me he couldn't process my form because I had printed it from the Australia Post website (which I had been told to do by Australia Post telephone customer service) and it didn't have a barcode in the top right hand corner for him to scan. After 5 minutes on the phone to someone, he finally found out how to enter the code manually that he would otherwise have scanned. He was a one finger typist and it took 40 minutes for him to enter the details from my form into the computer, make a mistake at the end and have to do it all over again starting from the beginning. In the end, I didn't even get any kind of receipt for my $1,000+ purchase as he stapled his internal processing note to my copy of the form and sent my receipt/tax invoice off with the original form to be processed at another Australia Post facility. When I returned 2 days later to request a copy of the receipt (because Australia Post customer service said to go back to the post shop to get them to reprint it), the lady was extremely unhelpful and insisted that I was given the right piece of paper and that there was no receipt to be issued for this transaction. She said she was the owner of the shop and she had bought it 5 years ago. Back at my office, after 30+ minutes on the phone with Australia Post customer service, I now have someone who is trying to find the original form at the processing facility in Alexandria in order to get me a photocopy of the receipt that was mistakenly attached to the form and sent there. I don't think people should be allowed to buy & run a post office without proper training from Australia Post. She appeared to have little idea what she was doing and more interest in online shopping than in serving customers and her employees are exactly the same.
The woman working at this Post Office has shocking behaviour. I had bought a Post Office sim card but because I'm a tourist and do not have any Australian ID, I was told to go into a branch and have someone manually activate it. When I went into this branch and ask the woman working there. She said no, that's too much hassle and that she was too busy. She was sat down on her phone when we walked in! She also said that the sim card was $2 and its not worth the time. I explained to her that the package I bought is actually a lot more ($2 was just printed on the pack). She didn't want to do it. I said that it was outrageous and she told me that outrageous was bad language. I had remained claim and never at any point swore to her. Eventually, we had to apologise to get her to cooperate and do her actual job. I couldn't believe it. Her attitude on the phone to her Post Office colleague was very poor and in the end, she told me everything was activated - it turned out later that she activated the wrong sim card because the sim card activation key was not communicated properly. I had spent about 30min altogether getting to this branch and trying to sort things out, I then had to spend another 20min or so later in the day to sort it out at another branch. I think her work performance should be reviewed by her employer as she was clearly shirking her work. This has created a very bad impression of Australia for me.
DO NOT purchase a money order here!! My money order was bounced due to the bad handwriting (the "0"s) of the attending lady. She refused to refund the issuance fee saying that she's done nothing wrong and she never refunds service fees in her 6 years working there (I had to go to another branch and buy a new one). Auspost says they can't do anything as this branch is privately owned. Pretty sure this is against Australian law as the goods/service they provide doesn't serve its intended purpose. Kind of sarcastic it even sits within the Parliament House complex. I've raised a transaction dispute with the bank.
Not often I would write reviews about a place but I was gob smacked about how rude the lady working behind the desk was so I said to her “the way your speaking to me is coming across as really rude” and she said “you white people don’t know how to speak to other people your the rude ones” I said “there is no need to be racist” and she told me to go away. Looking at the rest of the reviews if you’re thinking of going to this post office I would avoid at all costs.
I would highly recommend this post office! The staff are incredibly friendly, warm, and offer personable service for all ur postal needs. I actually had no idea that this was even located within parliament house- but that’s the best bit! It’s a hidden gem right in the heart of the city, but because not many people know of it’s location, there are no long cues! For fast and friendly service, make sure you make this switch to this post office.
I was overcharged on parcel postage but the man working here refused to acknowledge any mistake when I tried to politely discuss the matter the following day (with the parcel and receipt in hand). He was rude and condescending. The experience was very upsetting so I called Australia Post customer service, who found in my favour and refunded the money. I will never return to this post office.
It's located within Parliament House Literally a counter / one man shop so don't go there if you want to do anything complex like a passport application You will also need to basically go through airport security to get in which is a bit of a hassle
Personally I'm alright with the service, but this place gets randomly closed whenever the parliament is in session or whatever political reason it is that the building got closed down so the opening hours can be fairly unreliable sometimes.
Great post office with wonderful, friendly service and a range of services. Best part for small businesses like me is the fact that I have my own business account (am supplied goods on credit). They deliver to all parts of the Sydney CBD.
DO NOT use this post office for passport applications. Despite being an accredited post office for passport applications, the passport photos that were taken here were deemed invalid by DFAT.
7 floor. It’s hard to find the post office. The lady is neither patient nor kind. I’m not sure if the postcards I leaved here will finde the way back home lol.
The old lady working here is shockingly bad, rude and incompetent. Australia Post needs to review and take back this franchise. Horrible human beings.
Security screening beforehand adds an extra process. It was though rather delightful compared to the terrible service inside.
I find their service has improved out of sight. ONLINE TRACKING AND EMAIL ADVISORIES WORK GREAT!!!! Keeep up the great work.
Woman who answered phone failed to provide information necessary to contact the main post office information line.
Abu, the licensee, just gave me excellent service !! I would highly recommend this post office . …
The service was terrible, the lady didn't know how to use the camera and the pictures were terrible.
Staff are pretty rude and not very helpful. It's a nice location, though, in the parliament.
It’s mostly empty and a good excuse to visit the Parliament House. Service is almost ideal.
disgustingly impatient. Shame to have such a rude person working in such a beautiful place
Unfriendly stuff, the lady didn't seem like she wants to do anything with people.
To date no one has given this a 3 star rating - so I have.... !!!
The service here is so bad it almost becomes charming
Happy with the service provided. Never had an issue
This is no post office. It's the parliament house.
Its a small post office so great for quick things
It's a Post Office but inside the Parliament!
Can't take a basic passport photo
Horrible rude service! Avoid!
rude person with rude service
