HORRIBLE experience all around. We had 2 back to back month+ long rentals while we were shopping for a new car. After 3 weeks, the first rental wouldn't turn on one day when my husband went out to drive to work. Seemed like an electrical error of some kind. It was just completely fritzing out when pressing the push start button. We had to call roadside assistance to get it towed. My husband had to leave right then to go to work, so he didn't have time to wait and and go pick up a new rental and we had to borrow a car from a neighbor. The next day we called roadside assistance to have them send an Uber driver to take us to get a replacement vehicle for our rental which they said had to be picked up at JAX airport even though the San Jose office was supposed to still be open. No compensation was offered for any of this hassle, not to mention losing a day on our rental (which was prepaid!) When the vehicle was towed away, I forgot to remove our house keys off the ring and our garage opener. Retrieving those from lost and found was an absolute nightmare. Hours upon hours spent trying to get through on Avis phone lines, then on the website and in person. Won't go into all of that here because it doesn't pertain to this store specifically and rather Avis overall, but I actually had to call the tow company directly to get information that was helpful in tracking down our items. Ridiculous. Finally retrieved our lost items, after several weeks of phone and in person discussions and searches. Back to the rental experience. My initial reservation was for 32 days and I paid in advance. But our rental agreement said to return on the 31st day. I called this local rental office to ask about this and Moe said I had to return it on the 31st day. Then when I went in that 31st day, he said I had an extra day but since I paid in advance I would lose it if I returned it early. So it was a wasted trip to go to the rental office that day even though I CALLED to specifically ask about this several days in advance. I had another rental reservation starting because we still had not purchased a vehicle and needed more time and we wanted to rent a slightly smaller size SUV to save some money. So I came back the next day to return the 1st rental and pick up the 2nd one. This time I didn't pay in advance so I would have flexibility on my return date as we were planning to buy a car. After I purchased our car, I called in advance to get quotes on what the price would be for various return day scenarios and chose a date that was 4 days prior to my reservation based on convenience and pricing, trying to get the most value out of the rental. Upon returning, I was told I would be charged 1247.10 and emailed a receipt. When I checked my email after returning home, I was charged an additional 89.58 on top of that. I called today to inquire since I returned it with a full tank of gas and was told the system updates automatically based on the return time. I was charged only $20 less than my original quote for returning 4 days early! Unbelievable. I'll NEVER rent from AVIS or this location again. I believe that every time I called and was in the office in person, I was speaking with Moe.

Worst experience ever with a rental company! I had my trip planned , I always rent my vehicles through Enterprise so going with another company made me nervous. I had feeling something was going to go wrong. I called before my trip to make sure I could rent with my debit, as I did read on their website. I was advised by the lady that they did take debits but it's best to use a credit card and less deposit hold, I said I was concerned about the amount of the security hold, I don't have a credit card and want to make sure I don't have any problems with my debit. She said yes they take debit cards and pretty much repeated herself. I wasn't feeling assured by her answer to I did prepare myself for something to go wrong. Trip day went to pick up my vehicle and was advised that since I was using a debit card I couldn't book it with a luxury car like the mustang I reserved, I didn't care what type of car it was and nor do I think a mustang as luxury and why was I not told this when I called. They didn't have any other vehicles available, she offered to call me back later if something else came in. Nooo I have a planned trip and leaving in the next hour, of course she didn't care. I said cancel everything and I walked out never to return. Road down the street to Enterprise where I had no problems, drove out with a car less than 15 minutes. I should've stayed with them anyways as I will going forward. Avis was open Monday Memorial day and Enterprise wasn't that was only reason for going to another rental company. My experience was awful with Avis, it was worth paying an extra day just not to do business with their company. I was happy to take my money elsewhere! Avis totally sucks!

Terrible customer service!! We had scheduled an appointment for pickup at 6pm (we understand this is closing time) because it was the only time available for us. We were running 2 minutes behind due to traffic so we called 15 minutes prior SEVERAL times to tell them we were running a couple minutes late….no one answered. We arrived at 6:02pm, the door was locked and the lights were off. As we were knocking a blonde lady pulls up behind us in her car to inform us they were closed. And told her we had a confirmed reservation pick up time at 6 but she proceeded to tell us, “it doesn’t matter we are closed,” and drives off to park her car. After she parks her car she WALKS INSIDE, ignoring us, quickly locks the door behind her and runs off. The time was then 6:05pm. We had to leave town before open the next morning, so we had to quickly scramble to find another rental place. Again we understand closing is at 6pm but why make reservations available at that time if no one is going to be available?! Also, I would like to note, the first time I posted this it was REMOVED and was followed by two new reviews that basically said the exact same thing, “customer service is great, employees go above and beyond.” Please don’t be fooled by fake reviews, employees do not go above and beyond they will ignore you.

I want to start off saying, Mo is the best representative that works for Avis!! This review isn't about my store experience at all!! I've been a faithful customer with Avis for the last 3 years due to Mo's excellent customer service. Jan 18, 2019, I returned a car and was told I was unable to re-rent, after renting with this company consistently for months! I called customer service and loss prevention for 2 weeks no response! Basically, Avis overcharged my credit card & refuses to contact me with a reason why. I'm also unable to re-rent with Avis and no one has contacted me about that issue either!!! Calling the Customer Service or Reservations Dept, you have to speak with Reps who are from India who only repeat 'EVERYTHING' you say! They do not resolve any inquiries, once they get frustrated because they cannot understand your request, they transfer you to God knows where or disconnects the call! Again, I've been a loyal customer for 3 plus years, and Mo (avis rep @ San Jose) can vouch for that!! I want to be contacted by someone at corporate level because this situation is absurd. I shouldn't be asked to email about a major issue someone should've had the decency to call me back after 2 weeks of calls and voicemails!!

Do not rent any car from this place! I have never written a review for an establishment before, but I felt that this one was needed as a public health warning to all who might consider doing business here. When we rented a vehicle from AVIS, we were originally told that we could rent a Ford Explorer, but when meeting at AVS, we could only rent a Dodge Durango as it was a "Ford Explorer or Similar." Once we received the car rental, it reeked of tobacco and all the car mats were taken out of the vehicle. It was VERY obvious that this car had not been given a basic cleaning prior to our rental. There were foot marks on the inside of the windows, liquid splash marks on the leather seats, and duct-tape in between the upholstery. The receipt from the previous renters was even left in the car! This is EXTREMELY CONCERNING given that we are in the middle of a COVID-19 Pandemic! When the concerns were brought up with the owner, he was very rude and dismissive about the situation. FOR YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONE'S SAFETY, PLEASE RENT FROM ANOTHER ESTABLISHMENT!

I wish there was an option for a zero star rating. I booked online for pickup at 5pm. My wife used her discount through the state. She works downtown and gets off at 5pm. Due to extreme traffic on San Jose Blvd, I arrived at 5:20 to pick up my reservation. I was told by Sadik that my wife needed to be present or he would have to charge me full rate. I told him that she was halfway across town and would get here before they closed at 6pm. He was less the sympathetic. He also told me that he was leaving at 6 because he had been on his feet all day, and that was if my wife couldn’t get here in time, I would just have to book at full rate or come back tomorrow. He did not show any compassion or care to help. I will not be using this Avis again. Also, this location charges a $300 deposit for their rentals (note the SAF sign). On the website, it said $200.

Rented a car from this location for a weekly rental. Within a hour or so I received a email stating that my rental car was returned to another location and my card was charged 1649. When I called about it rhey said they would work on it. Took 7 days to get fixed. When I finally returned the rental the advised me that they were sorry for the inconveniences and that they were not going to charge you for the rental. The lady advised me that Mo had redid the contract to make the car legal to drive and made it to where there would be no charge. I checked my account and week later and I was charged more than the original price of the rental. I called multiple times to speak with a manager at the location and no one ever called me back. Terrible customer service. Don't rent with them you may end up paying more than you agreed to.

My beloved minivan literally died on me the day of our planned trip to see my 90 year old grandpa and I was a wreck. The whole family had taken off of work and school, and the repair shop couldn't fix my car same day due to parts. So we either lost a day of our trip or had to figure something else out that would fit the whole family. I called around and Avis had a vehicle and such a smooth reservation process. Kristine and Moe really put me at ease by answering all my questions, helping me figure out what to rent based on number of carseats, etc. and the vehicle was super clean and an easy drive. I'm so grateful they got me on the road and the rental process was quick and painless after a long and stressful day. Cannot say enough how happy I am! Made it to see my grandpa!!! Thank you again, Kristine and Moe!

While visiting family in Jacksonville I needed to rent a car. After an exceptionally frustrating experience at Enterprise (on San Jose) I ended up here, and I am so glad that I did! Christine did a wonderful job of explaining everything I needed to know to get me started. When I picked the car up Moe helped me out, and he went above and beyond to make sure that I was completely satisfied. I ended up getting a great car at a great price. I wish more businesses had staff with the level of professionalism, courtesy, and enthusiasm for their job as this one! They took what was initially a miserable experience for me and turned it into something extraordinary. I can’t say enough good things about my experience here! I will never rent another car from anywhere else when I am in town.

This is my first and last time using Avis the rental that I requested was a convertible which I did get the car was not clean I had to take and get it washed and vacuumed. The service engine light was on I had to put air in the tire and it had no windshield fluid. When I returned the car informed of service light car being unclean had to put air and was given attitude. The next day I get another invoice for a charge of 150 dollars called to inquire of the charge was told that the car had a heavy smoke smell I don’t sample so there is no way there was a smoke smell so now you trying to charge me extra fees disputed charges from now on I will stick with Enterprise where the employees provide excellent service and not try to get over on their customers

I used Uber to get to this location as per usual I was feeling nauseated from riding in the back seat. Once inside a gentleman named Mo was on the phone being yelled at by a customer. He was very polite and tried to explain the situation to the female but she wasn’t listening. When Mo hung up he immediately apologized to me for being on the phone. Mo was very nice and said that very few of the vehicles that came in were up to his standards so he upgraded my SUV. I could see what he was talking about about the cleanliness but how’s he supposed to clean the cars and work the front desk at the same time ‍♀️. I had a good experience and he even boosted my mood and nausea Thank you Mo!!

A few weeks back, I had to return a car to this location during an extremely chaotic and busy day for me. Luckily Mo was working that day because he was so patient with me even after I got lost on the way there and showed up late then letting me unload all the things out of the car as he waited, even after his shift was over on a Saturday. I can’t promise I would be as professional and cheerful as he was if the tables were turned, so I really appreciate his service. It’s been weeks since I dropped that car off, but I still remember that I left that place wanting to write a review about my great experience. Mo is a great associate who is really great at his job and deserves the recognition!

Moe and Christine - I can’t thank you enough for your incredible customer service ! It started with Moe Tuesday morning when I called to confirm my reservation. He went above and beyond to help me and find the perfect car for what I needed ! Today I picked the car up and it was spotless ! And scent free ! And I met Christine ! She was also top notch customer service ! These two are a dynamic team ! Quick , effective, friendly, professional and incredibly helpful!! They were committed to making sure I got the car I needed for the weekend! I now have a favorite car rental place and it is 6 miles from our home ! Thank you Moe and Christine ! Huge red flag for this location. The guy behind the counter was extremely rude, dismissive and doesn’t have any training on customer service. While I was trying to explain to him what I had on my reservation on my end, he didn’t want to give me any attention or try to understand the issue or let alone help to solve it. The moment I expressed my dissatisfaction and I didn’t want to do business with them anymore, he treated me in a very dismissive way, like I was wasting his time and I was garbage. All this right in front of other customers. If you work with people, you should treat everyone courteously and equally. I’m never ever doing business with these people.

I just left Avis on San Jose Blvd. please let me tell you what a GOD SEND Rachael was . She helped me every step of the way. I had no idea they did credit checks , I wasn’t approved . But she was compassionate, waited on me to call my credit card company, helped me enter my information on the web site bc I left my glasses at home!! It’s so rare to see someone go the extra mile in customer service anymore , but Rachael far exceeded all expectations, and went more than a mile !!! What a pleasure to deal with. I’m an avis customer for life now just bc of this extraordinary employee. Thank you so much Rachael for making my life a little easier today !

Car was dirty, staff member Named Mostafa was rude and unprofessional! I am a preferred member and was treated like garbage. I tried explaining the message that I had on the rental car and why it stopped me from plans to leave out of town and he blatantly cut me off and asked if I drove 5500 miles in a day because that’s the only way I’d get that message and continued to patronize me when I tried to explain the message just appeared. He refused to address me by my name and said he was done talking to me in front of other customers. I will be calling corporate about his manner and lack of customer support.

Best car rental experience. Scheduled to pick up my rental car on Friday morning at 8am. Two other people were ahead of me also there for the same reason. Christine was the only one there but she was on it. She was on top of everything got the other two taken care of and out the door within minutes of opening, and then so was I. No issues what so ever. Christine was also very friendly and answered all my questions. Bringing the car back was just as easy and simple as well. I hope Avis/Budget realizes what a great employee they have. Will definitely use them again!!!

I was given a car with a low tire warning light on towards the end of the business day. The tire went flat 15 minutes later (too late to return to the shop). To add insult to injury, I was charged an additional $220 for an Emergency Roadside/Towing Cost! When I objected, I was told by AVIS that this was what was in the rental contract. I will never use AVIS again. I am happy to report that after this review was viewed by the owner, my problem was resolved. Thank you, AVIS, for standing behind your name!

We had a great experience before so we reserved here again, but what a mistake!! An Elantra is NOT a full size. The employee admitted its not the same category, but basically said “it’s the same thing and we don’t have anything else unless you want to wait” even though we had reserved this a week in advance. The car is scratched all over and smells! What a terrible experience overall. There are other car rentals agencies in the area..save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere.

I do not recommend this location at all. I went to this location 07/08/23 for a 30 days rental. The guy behind the counter is very impolite and not helpful at all at the first issue that poup up he canceled my reservation without telling me the reason why. I went to another location the lady was very helpful and explained to me what happened and i got the car. I wish google have 0 star because that’s what this location deserve!

I waited til I returned the car to post a review of my experience. We rented from this AVIS location in Jacksonville for a 5 day rental and had a smooth experience. I was literally in the counter for 3 minutes before I was handed the keys to the car. The rates were reasonable. Car rental return to the airport was also a breeze. I was happy with my decision and will continue to rent from Avis location in Jacksonville! Thank you

This is our go to Car rental with Avis/Budget. I can’t say enough good things about this location and specifically about Moe the agent. Moe is always helpful And does the best he can to try to accommodate my requests. If more employees were like Moe in the service industry it would be a great place! I've rented multiple times from this location and have ALWAYS had a good customer experience. The service is quick (in/out in no time), the cars are clean and the staff is always professional and friendly. I LOVE that they are also open on Sunday. Most other rental agencies are not open on Sunday and I resent having to keep a car an extra day when I don't need it. Thank you Avis of Mandarin Square!! You rock!

I was very dissatisfied with the service I received from the avis employee Moe. He did not show me the damaged car before handing me the rent agreement, and he was rude and dismissive when I asked him questions. He tried to void the agreement for no valid reason, and he acted in a threatening and coercive manner towards me. I do not recommend this company to anyone who values customer service and honesty.

This location is the worst place to rent a car from. We have rented from Avis for many years and never had a problem before. The people here are very unprofessional and unwilling to help in anyway. Customer service says one thing on the phone and these people apparently have their own rules and choose what they want to accept. Three groups of people came in after me and none of them were able to get cars.

Erika and Moe are the best! They always greet you with a smile. They also get to know their customers and treat them like family. I rent several times a month, so I know their top notch customer service is consistent. Now even recently returned an item to my home after I left it in my rental car. I’m glad my corporate account is with Avis because this location near my home provides great service.

If I could put 0 stars, I would! I don’t know what happened to the owner or the older guy who used to work there a few years back but the person now is completely rude, condescending, and cocky. Made smart remarks and kept trying to be funny for the female associate. Highly unprofessional. Good luck, they try to "read people" off their looks and that's no right way to run a business.

My son rented a car while he was here. And he uses Avis all the time, but this was not a great experience. A huge complaint is that the guy told him that the gas tank was full. And it was at the 3/4 mark. And my son did not think about saying anything, so he had to put more gas in at the end. So that was kind of annoying.

Small but mighty team! Christine and Moe at the Avis on San Jose are amazing. I travel frequently for work and have picked up and dropped off at various times of the day. It doesn't matter if you're the first customer of the day or the last; they consistently treat every customer with kindness and professionalism.

Absolutely one of the best experiences in renting cars for sure! I’ve been renting from Mo for at least 6 years and wouldn’t rent anywhere else. With the pandemic Mo takes the time to ensure the cars are sanitized and cleaned before renting. I have a bad back & had to get a different car with no increased cost.

It is ridiculous that you prepay for your rental and only need it for a few days, but they won't let you return it until the day of your scheduled return flight. I only needed it for three days but wanted me to pay an additional week when my return flight was scheduled. Will find other options next time.
