I am new to the area and was nervous about finding a new vet, and AAH exceeded my expectations in every way! I first brought my husky in with an upset tummy and they were so great and helped put me at ease (without costing me a fortune). The staff here was very kind and also very helpful with fitting me in for a last minute appointment. They were very upfront with their pricing and are probably the least expensive vet I have ever been to. They did not push any unnecessary tests on me and while they validated my concerns, they also took a more reserved approach to upfront treatment, rather than suggested a ton of expensive tests just because. My next visit here I brought my 9yo small dog who is suffers from really bad anxiety and has a history of anxiety-induced seizures. It makes it VERY difficult to manage her health when sometimes simply going to the vet can spark a seizure so I am extremely apprehensive about when and where to bring her. When I called and told them about her they again fit me in very last minute and were understanding when I explained her eccentricities. When I got there, despite being out directly into a room she immediately was NOT okay, and I was worried she would have a seizure. The staff was 100% ON IT and suggested I take her outside in their backyard and wait there instead in case that helped calm her. It did and then to my complete shock, they came out and suggested they just do the entire visit outside instead since she seemed more relaxed there. I was so impressed with the way they not only listened to me; but also trusted and valued my input with how to care for my dog. It’s very rare to find a vet so willing to listen and cater their care specifically to your pets needs without any semblance of judgement or rolling of eyes. I am fully aware that my dog can be ALOT and without knowing her full medical background I can seem like ALOT and very overbearing so I am used to being pushy and having to fight to advocate for my pet. That need was non existent here, and I wish more vets + their staff were as compassionate as everyone I met here at Avondale Animal Hospital. I would (and have) recommended this vet to anyone! I could go on and on and on (and also have to anyone who’d listen) about how impressed I was with how they managed my small dog and I during that visit. This vet truly seems like a hidden gem and I am so so lucky to have found them. I can sleep easier knowing I have them close by. To the staff at AAH: THANKYOU a million times over! You’re kindness and compassion are unmatched!

Our dog has been a patient at this office for approximately two years; it is the only vet that we've ever taken him to. We have had a generally positive experience with this office, however there were some red flags over the months that were concerning. First, if you need to bring your pet in for a non-scheduled appointment, this is considered an emergency visit. If the office is even able to see you on the same day, you will have to pay an emergency visit fee. In one instance, we were unable to get a same-day emergency appointment, and so we had to wait until the next day. Our dog is prone to hotspots which can come on suddenly, and so it was difficult to watch him suffer through that because we couldn't get a same-day appointment with our vet. Aside from that, the prices are high compared to other practices in our area. I also feel that there is a tendency to be prescribed more medication than is necessary; you can easily come out of an office visit with 3-4 medications, sprays, etc. for something. The most recent incident is what has caused us to seek a new vet. Our dog had another hot spot, and I wanted to bring him into the office for treatment. I called at 9:56 AM and left a message explaining the reason for the call, and that I wanted to get him in that day. At 5:44 PM, the office called back and left a message saying that they were now closed for the day, but if I wanted to get my dog in for an emergency appointment the next morning, I could call back that next morning to schedule the appointment. The next morning, the office called me to ask if I still wanted to schedule an emergency visit, which of course has the added fee, to which I responded that I no longer needed an appointment, and that I had to call another vet. Without any hesitation, the office simply asked if I wanted to have my dog's records emailed to me so that I can forward them along to the new office. There was no attempt to understand why I had scheduled an appointment with another office, nor any concern about losing a patient, nor any attempt to get us to stay on as a patient. That has me seriously concerned about the future viability of this practice, and confident in the decision I made to switch to a more established practice in the area.

If I could give Avondale Animal Hospital and Dr. November more than 5 stars, I would! Dr. November and his staff are friendly and make you and your animal feel very comfortable. The office space is super clean and spacious as well. Dr. November is exceptional at his job and is so amazing with both my kitty and pup. He is calm, patient and very transparent with his explanations. I can trust that he always has my animals best interest in mind and that makes for a stress-free, and smooth experience. The online app makes it so easy to make appointments, get reminders or just communicate with your vet. Dr. November does such a great job making my animals feel comfortable and safe. I appreciate his kindness and ability to make "going to the vet" a little less stressful.

We’re brand new to the area and planned to establish routine, geriatric care for our dogs here. However, both of my dogs experienced life-threatening emergencies shortly after arriving to Jax and we established ourselves with Avondale during an emergency instead. Dr. Antar and the staff undeniably saved my both of beloved dogs’ lives in one single morning. I am particular in who I entrust my dogs’ care to and my standards are sky-high. Their compassionate, transparent, empathetic, and seamless care and coordination by the staff here exceeded these standards by miles. I look forward to continuing their long-term care here for our time in Jax. I am truly grateful for the team at Avondale Animal Hospital.

This place is amazing! I love all of the staff and both of the doctors. They treat my babies with such love and compassion. Both doctors are extremely knowledgeable and personable, I never feel like a number. I moved from Jacksonville but refuse to take my babies anywhere else, so we travel a 2 hour round trip commute for the amazing care from this facility. When an emergency situation arose, I called them and they quickly got me in contact with the nearest emergency office. They called the emergency vet to let them know I was on the way and faxed over my babies records. Then checked on my baby afterwards to ensure that she was okay. This place is hands down the BEST!

Dr.November and his staff are wonderful. Their office is beautiful, clean, and welcoming. Mandy was so helpful with getting our pups in as new patients and was super helpful with getting their records from our previous vets. Hilary was our vet tech and she was so personable and got right down on the floor to say hello to our pups while explaining everything we were in for that day. Dr.November is incredible. He did very thorough exams on our dogs and explained everything in a way that was so easy to understand. He listened to, and addressed, our concerns and truly does care about his patients. We are SO happy we stumbled on such a fantastic facility and staff.

This practice busted every preconception I have about vets . Our 60 lb vizsla ate about 30 pieces of gum containing xylitol . They got us an urgent appointment , immediately took the necessary measures , and they asked the right questions . They didn’t charge us for wildly, unnecessary work. The exam conducted after the triage was complete was conducted within the room with us and the dr. was very personable and cares about our experience with our animal . They called us twice afterwards to check on the pup, and gained our business for as long as we live in the area . We walked out paying ~25% of what we anticipated based on previous vet experiences . Kudos.

We met Dr. November at another clinic before he opened Avondale. We brought our two month old golden retriever puppy, Sedona to him. When he opened Avondale we followed him over there. I trust him explicitly with our girl. We were there today and I thought maybe she needed an x-ray, he said he didn’t think she did, if I wanted him to do one he would but he did not think it was necessary. He could’ve done the x-ray and charged us more money but he didn’t. My husband and I think he is kind, truly cares about the animals, and treats his clients fairly. We are so happy we found such a knowledgeable vet to take care of our pup. Shelley and Joe Antonucci

Absolutely fantastic service and incredible staff. My wife and I took our two cats and two dogs for wellness check-ups and to get them up to date on their shots. Unlike many other places we’ve been, Dr. November and his staff genuinely cared both about the animals and were very transparent about the prices (whereas places we’ve been before, you just get a huge bill at checkout without having a clue beforehand). I learned more about my animals in 2 hours than 3 vets over 10 years ever taught me. Would highly recommend this place for both your annual shots and checkups, as well as any and all emergencies your furry loves ones may have.

Dr. Antar, Dr. November, and all the support staff are very knowledgeable and also very caring. It's obvious they all love animals. We followed Dr. Antar over from her previous practice, despite the half hour drive, because she is so caring and our cats all trust her, as do we. We recently lost one of our babies do to a sudden devastating stroke and everyone there was kind and caring. They also are very clear about costs and always give us options based on what our pet can reasonably handle (or not) due to prior issues or age, as well as what we can afford. So many vets offer a take it or leave it approach instead.

Very friendly doctor and staff. Doc sat on the floor with our pup and everyone took our concerns seriously. Our pup Tiffany wasn’t doing great. The visit was quick and efficient, and it wasn’t a selling show like you can get at many vets - we were ready to do X-rays and tests, whatever was necessary, but the Doc assured us that if our pup’s condition improved, that wasn’t necessary. She got a shot, and we were sent home with meds. She improved and almost back to normal a day later, started eating and was very lively. So happy! Got a follow up call next day. Price was good, and appointment within an hour of opening.

I cannot say enough about the care provided at Avondale animal hospital. I’ve tried other local places and none have demonstrated the genuine empathy present here. Dr. November is down-to-earth and takes an incredible amount of time explaining all treatment options, and answering questions. As a ‘people doctor,’ I have high expectations for the care of my cats and Avondale animal hospital exceeds these expectations every time. Thank you for caring about my cats as much as I do — being able to fully trust a local vet is one less thing to worry about! PS —- they go above and beyond in fitting in urgent care apts.!

We have had two incidents with our older dogs being attacked unprovoked by a neighbors aggressive dog, one of the incidents Avondale was able to fit us in that day and help save our pup from the pain. He needed stitches and antibiotics, we were in shock and Avondale helped guide us on what to do and how to report. The other time they followed up with us after we went to an emergency vet due to it being late at night and insured our dog healed well/had proper care during his weeks of recovery. This facility is amazing, the pricing is reasonable and the staff is very knowledgeable. Highly recommend

I love them almost as much as my dog does! They're welcoming and warm from the reception area to the follow up phone calls. Also, I REALLY LOVE their app! It's very convenient and helpful in so many ways. I can check on my dog's appointments, order meds, or buy shampoo for her any time I want. That's really helpful since I work odd hours. I've also never been to a vet that's completely honest about their charges and even suggested other clinics that may offer certain services less costly. You won't find more honest people anywhere! Five stars isn't enough to rate Dr. November and his crew!

I’ve been taking my pets here for a little over a year and I have had the best experiences with Avondale Animal Hospital. They’ve cared for my 2 cats and 2 dogs and every encounter has been extremely positive. In fact, when my last dog passed unexpectedly I received a hand-written card from the staff. It was an unexpectedly sweet gesture that I deeply appreciated. The docs are informative and helpful, the staff are awesome with the pets, the appointments are easy to make, and the clinic is clean and close by. I couldn’t ask for anything better!

I initially chose this animal hospital because it’s close to my house and I was curious about the beautiful renovation. I’ll continue to take my pets here because of the amazing staff! When I’m my cat was very sick, they were so kind and helpful. When his blood work came back, Dr November called with the results and spent about 30 minutes on the phone with me explaining everything even though it was 5pm on a Friday before a holiday weekend. When my cat eventually passed away, they sent a handwritten note that whole staff signed.

We’ve been coming to AHS for a more than 2 years now and I can’t say enough great things about Dr. November and his team. We have only ever received great care for our animals. The vets genuinely take their time with each one and patiently answer all of our questions; on top of that, always making sure we have more than enough information to come up with a game plan for our pet’s care moving forward. The staff truly cares about what they do here and treat our babies as if they were their own. If I could give 10 stars I would!

I called them with a minor cat emergency. Even though they were actually already booked they did let me make an appointment for the same day. The animal hospital is very new, clean, bright, and welcoming. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, both on the phone and in person. I got to see Dr Steven November, and they did an exam. They explained the medical situation very well, and offered several treatment options. I think pets are really well taken care of here. Overall, I'm very happy with the experience!

I made Lily a check up appointment because she is technically elderly. She’s 13, grumpy and can be a nightmare to deal with when it comes to vet appointments. The whole staff was wonderful. I don’t think Lily bit or scratched a single person. Which is shocking. Dr. Antar is probably the sweetest and most patient vet Lily has ever been to. I highly recommend taking your furbabies to this office. The staff and Dr. Antar are amazing. *the photo does not portray her feelings about the vet. She’s just always grumpy.

We took our 8 YO labrador retriever to Dr. November for the first time this week. He is so personable and calm during the exam. Our pup was at ease during her vet visit and the examination. The prices are competitive and reasonable. It's great to know there is such a reasonable, professional vet right around the corner. I would recommend Avondale Animal Hospital to everyone! They also did a great job renovating the historical building. This business is a great addition to the neighborhood!

Dr Antar and her staff are Absolutely Amazing!!! The facility is soo clean and Ive never had to wait. Dr Antar listens to your concerns, she's super patient, never rushed and they all give 110%! Ive been to many Vets in my lifetime and by far this one's the best. Journey (my Mal with special GI issues) loves them and doesn't ever want to leave, its cute, I've never had a dog love a Vets office like this. Very comfortable and welcoming environment Overall, the staff was professional and attentive. Nurse explained all the prices and reasons for each treatment. The Dr took his time with Nikki and I felt comfortable that he attended to all of her issues. At times and at other clinics I have felt rushed or that the staff may be overbooked and not always enough time for through exam. Very nice clinic. I'll be back, and I hope they thrive here as I've heard this is a new practice

I have owned SCORES of animals over the last 70 years, so I feel well qualified to say THIS IS THE BEST ANIMAL HOSPITAL EVER!! So clean you could eat off the floor; friendly attentive staff and doctors that both ASK and ANSWER questions. Very little wait time but you are not rushed thru the appointment at all. AND they follow up the next day to check up on your pet! (Makes me want to get a few more pups just so I could visit more often :-) ) HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Even though this location has yet to open, I can personally attest to the best veterinarian duo in Jacksonville, Dr. Steven November and Dr. Jordi November! They have been fantastic in keeping Maureen Porcelli's and I's dog, #PupitaPepper, in the best health possible. I have no doubt that when this location opens we will continue to receive the same 5-star experience! While you wait, you can see Dr. Jordi November at Monument Road Animal Hospital! :)

I went in after speaking to Dr. November the previous night in a panic. I thought my baby Naddy would need surgery or have some issues I wouldn't be able to help with. They reassured me she would be just fine and after the checkup and meds she is better than ever! I really appreciate the kind service and the love they have for all animals. It's truly the best experience I've had at an animal vet/hospital. Thank you so much for making my girl better!!

Dr. November is the best vet I’ve ever been to. He listens and takes the time to answer all your questions. He understands difficult circumstances and is empathetic instead of judgmental. His staff always work to get my cats in ASAP if there is an emergency. They even text and call to follow up the day after services. The office is clean and prices commensurate with the level of service. Sad to be moving away and losing this wonderful practice.

The staff are super informative and competent, as well as understanding and compassionate. And they respond in a timely manner, which has been a rare occurrence in my experience with vet offices. My dog seemed pretty at ease compared to most other places I’ve taken him. They also did a great job decorating the whole clinic! I felt comfortable throughout my whole visit and will definitely be making this my regular vet clinic

Had a wonderful vet experience. They were able to schedule me day of when I needed a new vet for my rabbit Samoa. Turns out Dr. Antar saw my rabbit at another vet in 2020. She's awesome with pets. The entire staff was welcoming and attentive. We were put in a room right away, and I was able to ask questions and be present for the exam. My rabbit is improving greatly. What a relief.

Dr. Antar and the staff here are absolutely wonderful. I have a German Shepherd who gets anxious at the vet and they are always sooo patient and gentle with him. I never feel like I’m being sold unnecessary products or services and I always leave feeling confident in and grateful for the care Odin received. I would absolutely trust them with any type of care my animals needed.

American eskimo dog with skin allergies for years. other vets have given my dog a once over 5 minute glance, a shot and some papers. this vet actually seemed to care about the issue, and spent 25 minutes or so talking with us about what to do. im glad i trusted the reviews and visited this place. i wont be going anywhere else from now on. excellent and wonderful service

What a fantastic vets office!! From the moment we requested an appointment to the time we checked out, everyone was so kind and helpful. Our pup is spunky and they did everything they could to help her before having to sedate her or do anything invasive, which we obviously appreciate as this made the bill reasonable! We will be using AAH for all our pets’ vet needs

We have an office kitty at our Edie Williams State Farm Agency. She was a stray that we adopted. Her name is Cheryl and she's an adorable calico. She was having some digestive issues and they team at Avondale Animal Hospital got her in same day, treated her and even followed up the next day to see how she was doing. Very friendly, caring, professional and kind!

We spayed our dog here. Our experience was very positive, the staff was friendly and caring. Dr. November listened to our concerns well and took the time to answer our questions without rushing. We appreciate that they gave our dog a good pain treatment plan for home after the surgery. They also clipped her nails for free while she was knocked out.

We brought our anxious reactive dog for an initial visit and the staff could not have been more understanding and accommodating. They made every effort to reduce stress on all parties involved, both human and canine. Dr. Antar was so awesome. Love this vet and all its staff!

As new patients, my dogs just LOVE the doctors and staff, as do I. They are kind, knowledgable, and efficient. You can tell they really love animals and want the best for them. I was able to meet with both doctors during my visits. I highly recommend their services!
