This is more of a shopping centre than a mall, in my opinion (and probably why you don't pay for parking) . There's just simply not much to do other than shopping, and that's if you want the stores they have there specifically, for example - i often go there when i want a Crazy store because it's one of the few malls with a branch. But their variety of stores is not bad actually. They also have branches for the big 5 banks, can be packed during the day but nothing new there. And when it comes to restaurants, you have about 4 choices - chicken licken, wimpy, sausage lagoon and some pie stall. So again, unless you want those ones specifically, try going elsewhere.
Although Balfour Park is not a huge mall, it has a variety of stores (franchise & outlet), stores which I believe accommodate shoppers across all income levels. One is certain to find what they are looking for, if not, an an alternative choice that is close enough. I also appreciate that I don't need to wait in long queues in any of the popular stores, considering that I'd been there on a month end. The mall was also very clean. The only disappointment is that Checkers closed, Shoprite is the new alternative yet there is a Shoprite (Savoy) about 500m from the mall.
This message is for Checkers Balfour Park. If you want to introduce customer flow control to your store then do it with signage that is visible and clearly marked so that the customer does not have to look for it...A4 signages next to other advertising signs is a big No No. iow Entrance and Exit signages must be clearly marked and placed strategically. I was told in no uncertain terms and tone that i should use the correct entrance.Shopping should be pleasant and with as less stress as possible.... mine was definitely not today at your branch.
Fnb- I waited for more than an hour to be helped..that is a definite no no especially if its a bank..a simple transaction that needed card pin reset took more than an hour to conclude..the machine used to reset pins kept on having connection problems.. I had to wait for the next consultant to make available their pin reset machine and moved to their side..a lot of customers who needed assistance ended up leaving..the consultant indicated that they were short staffed..not acceptable at all
The standard of the mall has dropped drastically. At least Truworths is still keeping the oomph. I truly dont understand those other stores.Anyway. If Balfour Mall management does not make an effort to recruit investors alternatively change the place into "Fun entertainment Centre", that will include banks' food stores like Chicken licken' Pizza places ' I personally don't see Balfour mall's future. It might soon turn into another taxi rank area.
It is not the best place to spend your day no security the only place worth going to is the Checkers or the gym and definitely not the banks i honesty rather be prepared to spend a little more and go someplace decent where people don't harass you for money however you won't have a problem like that if they had a proper security company looking after the place it's a pity because it used to be a nice place once
It is a good mall with free parking for now. However, it is sprawling and if you do not want to walk long distances please avoid it because it is not a kind with escalators/lifts but one where you have to walk distances to get from one shop to another. It has limited shops though. There was a revamp and maybe it is still going on and i believe more shops will be coming if they have not done so already.
Good range of banks and extremely convenient range of discount and economy clothing retailers. However, major retailers keep poor ranges of stock compared to the major malls. Service levels across stores is generally poorer. Most of the shops serve a lower LSM target market and maybe employees don't think they need to try as hard? Good for quick trips if you know what you already want/need
Most popular shops are disappearing. The entire place has become depressing. Though security is visible, you can't help but feel uneasy with all those "metres taxis" and mini bus taxis parked in the customer parking lot near the main entrance. The banking mall is a different story. Perhaps because I was served very swiftly there. I didn't get to notice if all the banks are still there.
Went to the mall looking for Postnet (which was closed probably because it was a public holiday). First thing I saw was that the mall has lots and lots of parking. Felt a bit uneasy as I did not spot any security personnel around the parking area but there was plenty inside. The mall generally looked clean but the interior just looked a bit dull.
Nice shopping experience at Checkers and the party shop. The banks are always full and there are long queues for the atm. Other than that you can get everything from your meds, cellphone repairs, clothes l, groceries and even family planning.... the car guards are genuine and friendly so please support them when you take a trip to the mall.
Large mall revamped a few years ago with higher ceilings and more natural lighting. Wide walkways and huge selection of clothes shops. Huge Checkers as one of the main attractions. Virgin active gym with heated pool upstairs on the banking level with all major banks and postnet. Lots of parking both upstairs and downstairs...
A smaller mall or a larger shopping centre (depends how you look at it), in the Balfour area. It's the go to place for those that reside in the area to get what they need. The mall houses your basic stores and services, from food, pet care, medication, shoe repairs, hardware, etc. Exercise caution, not the safest of places.
Was fair but very boring The shop mix was 90% clothes shops and the balance were no places of real interest MTN store staff unlnowlegable Checkers as usual good Capitec service excellent Staff there very helpful polite and caring making one happy to be an client of theirs Wimpy was fair No bookshops Very boring and dull
Feel at home. Wimpy staff very friendly. As you enter Balfour Mall the entrance nearest to Checkers, there is a new clothing shop just opened opposite Checkers it is the shop just before the Health shop. Cannot remember the name. Very nice clothing, not expensive. I bought 2 tops and 2 dresses under R200, nice quality.
It's been a while that uber and bolt taxis started operating. I haven't been there for some months now because they scared to drive in to the shopping centre's ground floor parking because if other meter taxi drivers fighting with them. It was still the same today and I'm really considering to go there again very soon
Pretty sure while parked here, my vehicle was hit by someone. Waiting for security footage to confirm. Post office staff are pretty great though as far as post offices go...revision of post: centre security reverted and could find no footage of anyone causing the damage. The mystery therefore remains unsolved.
I love this mall, it's very peaceful and so so busy, or maybe i visited in favorable hours. I think its one one the safest mall in the area and the fact that I got my Matzo which I could not get anyway else its a big bonus for me. Thank you Checkers for stocking them up, hope you will always do so.
How do you rate a mall? Parking is still free, which is nice - ticket machines are installed but had been disabled. Good. Keep it that way. Over the years I have seen the mall been upgraded and changed. It somehow never reached high appeal to me, admittedly it is too far for day to day shopping.
20 years ago this was an actual mall. Then all the most frequented/ popular stores started leaving and we've seen the mighty Balfour tumble, the place is currently hanging on by a thread. Currently the only restaurant thats there is Wimpy. One star for wifi and the other for what it use to be.
Its fine . I like that its a smaller mall so easy to navigate and shop quickly. Dont like the food court there its practically non exitent. But always clean and welcoming and convenient. Free parking is also a plus. Ample parking anytime of year. Love it. But no cinema or entertainment
Nothing much to do, it's boring and has no life how about movies and an arcade for kids..... Balfour is such a drug mall there's nothing to do there its annoying, we need more fun places and more restaurants in that place, hence my kids and I go to rosebank or sandton. I hate it
Balfour Mall is close to me so I get most things done there. I love going there but due to the pandemic allot of the shops are closed or closing down which is very sad. The Staff at all the stores from PEP to Checkers are always friendly and helpful. A fair place to shop.
Clean place with decent amount of parking, multiple functioning shops with lot's of variants. They cater to multiple different bank users. The only issue is the functioning hours end quite early during the week so it's difficult to get shopping done after work.
Their is nothing good, no good eating placese. Clothing shops have same old stuff, it's just mainly for old people. Food outlets are limited, and what ever u do, don't ever buy from chicken licken, u will regret it, and male stuff, in drastic need of education.
I was pleasantly surprised on my visit, it's a good centre with variety of stores, and a generally pleasant experience. Word of caution, certain parking locations might be safer than others, this will be apparent to the vigilant motorists among us.
I think this mall has not been updated with the more recent shops and its very dull. Rather go to eastgate because you'd be wadting your time for any kind of shopping at this mall. I wish they would clean more. I will not be going this mall again.
. One general comment about Google Map : We should have an option to get the last vocal message from the trip advisor to be 'repeated' if we couldn't get right the normal message because big noise, disturbances and other facts. THANK YOU !!!
Parking upstairs by the banks and gym is not easy to drive in and out. The presence of guards armed with AK47's does contribute for a friendly shopping experience. The mall is on a great location but sense of unsafety makes it a no go
Great mix of stores & banks. Easy access & fantastic FREE parking still! Need a really nice restaurant & coffee shop on roof..which has spectacular views. Belive they building mini soccer park on roof..fantastic for youngsters.
Virgin active and free parking available which is great. Generally a safe mall. Clothing stores aren't all that varied. Cash converts is also available. The mall doesn't have a large food restaurants selection available.
It's nice place but it's now dying most of the stores are closing and now the biggest that we had is also closing the end of the montb(CHECKERS) so we hoping they might bring bring another grocery store
A lot of rebuilding in progress. The stores I stopped for are no more. I felt lost roaming around hoping to find them in another area of the mall. Hopefully the in coming stores will match or surpass.
This is slowly becoming a ghost town as most popular stores have left this center, like woolworths, checkers, etc. I still go because my medical doctor is located here. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother.
Very quite mall, not a busy place since most of the big shops closed.Wollies closed,Foschin closed,Miladys closed etc.Edgards is there but not busy.Only go there by chance but not my favorite place!
It's my hometown. Some shops have closed down due to COVID-19 but you can still have breakfast at Wimpy, go to gym at Virgin, shop at Checkers, see two doctors, get medicinal stuff @Clicks etc.
Not too busy ,not too noisy, not too crowded enjoyed shopping esp at checkers, and had hot wings at chicken licken really enjoyed even parking space was there and the car guards were so friendly
Once upon a time it was THE mall in the northern suburbs. Today it’s a taxi hub with many commuters doing grocery and lower end shopping. It doesn’t feel like a safe place to be . Not for me
There can be a few more stores that are in other malls in this mall. This is a place to just grab a few essentials and leave. I only saw Chicken licken and Wimpy in the mall. So we left.
OMG the place is dead, leaking when it rains. Minimal shopping stores for food. During pay days it's really quiet and empty. Good marketing plan is needed and also revamping the place.
It’s really convenient, most of the stores that offer essentials are available. The service is good in most stores that I’ve been too especially Capitec their service is exceptional.
Mall with the essentials. Love the look and feel of the mall. One shop with the best Roast Chicken....ROAST, next to Checkers. I can recommend the food. Healthy, tasty and yummy.
Nostalgic moments here and free parking yay! Good stores and lovely shopping Centre, just needs a bit more on the entertainment side of things, a bar could do the trick …
Convenient location with lots of variety. Security is excellent. Plenty of parking choices. Car wash facility now available. Checkers a very easy grocery store to navigate.
Turns out a lot of foot traffic was due to Checkers. It is very quiet now, hope they find a tenant for the space that Checkers occupied. Maybe customers might come back.
Half the stores were closed down, went there on a Sunday peak time to get something to eat but there was hardly any options. Very disappointing to even call this a mall.
Basic... Like the shop up the road. Nothing to write home about. Add some excitement? And at least one popular restaurant? This mall has copious beautiful space...
It's a nice mall. A lot of banks with not a lot of queues. Clicks is great. Good cake stores. Wimpy has nice staff too. Parking is free, not too bad on safety.
Well ke Balfour mall? Security should be more visible around the parking areas. Boom gates are not working so which means free mahala parking …
What a disgrace. I understand see now why most shops have left and it is a white elephant. I will never go back there again! Safety reasons.
It’s quite okay, nothing too exciting , it’s convenient for in and our errands , the checkers there needs a make over but overall, okay-ish
Balfour Park Mall needs more shops, too many empty shops It needs to become grand like it used to be. It still has such a Geat potential ❤️
Safety at the under parkings, nice and cool. clean not so congested, easy to locate all the shops. There's gym and crèche inside the mall.
They have all the essential stores needed. Lower LSM stores which means great prices. This mall is great for the area with all you need.
This was my first visit and it definitely wont be my last. A mix of retail and shopping outlets , Great dining Options and entertainment
Best studio in Benoni with great and amazing staff, hard an amazing results for my baby's 6 months photoshoot the photos looked amazing
Quiet and cozy mall, when I went there it wasn't crowded or too busy and it's quite clean. Most major shops can be found there.
A lot of closed stores; we did not find any store that we were interested in. Otherwise, it's pretty clean, though a bit dim
I like the spacious internal streets. And, of course, the presence of outlets such as, Shporite Checkers, is always a boon.
This mall is so easy to connect to. Easy to locate and you can't get lost while you're inside. They also have free Wi-Fi.
This mall has lost its ground when it comes to being one of the beautiful places around gp, but that can be sorted
It's really an old Mall and not as interesting and on demand as before. Help out with investors and new business.
There's very serious leaks when it rains, most shops had to close and move stock around to avoid water damages,
Nice and clean shopping centre. Pick 'n Pay looks topnotch. Will shop there anytime again.... Keep it up....
Very clean place with plenty of space for parking and you can leave your car in a car wash while shopping.
I am metal fabricator(Welder)and very experienced in this job. Manufacturing and REPAIRs and installation.
I spoke to the manager after being re-given my order. A bad service on the day twice. Ma Kwaaande™
There's only wimpy to have something to eat, which is so disappointing and most shops have closed down
The mall is getting desert more and more as time pass by. Not everything you need you will get here.
It was neat, clean and not crowded but most of shops are closed eg Woolworth, Edgar's, fishing, etc
They are doing a lot of Renovations at the moment but if you ask for directions the people helpful
I got what I went looking for on time as the mall wasn't crowded. They have back up power supply.
Very friendly and helpful people well done . Though Shoprite lady on lotto till was so agresive
Very good and lively but the currupt cops from Norwood and around are becoming something else.
I appreciated the service from the team at chicken licken , friendly and polite to customers .
Pleasant mall, can get a bit busy, great parking, most of the shops are vacant at present
I go there only because of the banks and clicks otherwise there is nothing in that mall.
Ahhh the bitcoin machine is the only highlight for me the rest, "it's giving Zimbabwe "
Checkers and chicken licken are no more. Just shoprite inside but it's clean …
It is okay except for the taxis that are mixed with consumers who came shopping.
I dropped into the mall to draw money , plenty of parking and security was good
Few shops for clothes, no restaurant or food court, there's enough parking area
This mall has deteriorated so much. Really not a great shopping experience.
It's so peaceful, you can take your time when you shopping no long line
It's no longer a clean place ,bigger shops are moving out of this mall
The closure of checkers comes at the cost to the community of Balfour.
good parking nice and clean mall taxi rank all bank atm amazing exit
Balfour Park has changed now and more shops are opening now …
The mens toilets are disgusting No running water, terrible smell
Most stores have moved, like Checkers, Edgars, Jet and Woolworth
Mall is very quiet and poor Many banks and shops are closed.
A lot still need to be done . Rental space is available.
The mall is very empty in terms of the variety of shops.
Standard bank atm had a problem the one next to clicks
Clean and litter free. Great deals at Fashion World
Not a pleasant experience at all. Won't recommend
alway shop there but why did they remove checkers
Checkers must be brought back, finish and klaar!!
