I love the Calhoun Village location it is the closest to me but I go because I like the whole store. The size is perfect a cozy feeling sale items are arranged so you can't miss them and the staff is great I have gone there for years and the sales folks are just the best. They are friendly knowledgeable kind have pointed out savings for me and they talk to me! The staff go out of their way to accommodate the customers and even told me I can bring my dog into the store. It's a wise decision because they are about 1-2 blocks from Lake Calhoun and folks have dogs and walk them. Also it's a well to do area and the people that live there like to take their dogs everywhere I know I work at a pet clinic less than a mile away!

A good selection of newer Sci Fi/ fantasy..and most importantly for me DOG friendly. Just off the Cedar lake walking trail and just across the parking lot from Chuck and Dons. Small rant... The Internet and Google are almost complete failures at identifying dog friendly establishments...either they have outdated or incorrect info..or so few businesses identified in my area as to be useless ( I'm looking at you Bring Fido and Sidewalk Dog) or no info at all. One of the conveniences of the Internet is to quickly Google info like this without having to call ahead... For some reason Google and the Internet in general is mum on this. Businesses won't post and Google doesn't ask.

We live next door in uptown and this Barnes & Noble has been an institution in our family and raising my daughter who from as far back as she could walk has loved to roam the store or be left alone to sit on the floor and read. A few years ago we were terrified when there was talk of the store closing, we would have missed it terribly. There is something about sitting in a clean bookstore with helpful staff and physical books that Amazon can never quite replace, and visiting this store, especially with kids as they grow up, will put this value in anyone’s soul and hopefully make all of us pitch in to help them remain viable.

I may be biased, but this Barnes and Noble is the most fun. Ask these booksellers for recommendations and they will bend over backwards to get a good book for you! If they don’t know, they’ll ask a bookseller who does. And if that doesn’t work...well they’re pretty resourceful. They’ll tell you how to find it. No, they don’t have a music section here, yes they can order it in for you. No, they don’t sell Pokémon cards/dice/ or “collectibles” at this location but if you’re on the hunt for a rare POP! Figure, it may be hidden here!

Pretty much just like every B&N. However, while I was looking at the Barnes & Noble Classics collection they have near the front of the store, one of the employees, seeing I had my 10 year old son with me, asked if we'd be interested in children's versions of the classics. I did not know they had this. He directed us, and my son found a few new tales to dig into. I wish I'd caught the gentleman's name. Well, anyway. Super helpful and friendly store.

Barnes and Nobles a classic bookstore chain. This one, nestled between Lake of the Isles and what used to be known as Lake Calhoun is an excellent example of a warm place to come and select a book or a game or even just brows greeting cards on a lazy Saturday afternoon. Highly recommend stopping by even if you don't plan to buy anything. It is very relaxing not to mention one of Minneapolis premiere Bakery coffee shops is just steps away!

A bit on the small side for a Barnes and Noble. The parking is a nightmare in this strip mall. It's hard to get in and out and because so many businesses share the lot: you will likely have to wait for a spot to open up. A lot of kids biked to this location and unfortunately many people in the store did not mind having full, loud conversations with each other and on the phone while shopping.

Smalk print on star rating hope I clicked loved it 3216 lake Street mpls Extremely helpful might be because I have disabilities or people in multiple places are topically so much better than (most multiple disability services and government-forcing their way with no reasoning getting upset if when I topically ask questions!!!!!!)

This location is quickly becoming my go-to Barnes & Noble in the Twin Cities. I was fortunate enough to work with Will and Ryan on a large purchase, and both of them were accommodating and helpful in locating hard-to-find products. I appreciated how friendly and understanding both of them were during my tedious check-out process.

  • Michael Maki

Never seems to have books I'm interested in reading. The staff is super friendly and helpful, but if I wanted to order a book, I'd do it myself from Amazon and save 25-50%. It's no wonder brick-and-mortar bookstores are on their way out. If I never get another gift card, I can't imagine any reason I'd visit again.

  • Troy H

It is a nice location, kind of tucked away. I would call it "cozy." There seems to be a smaller than usual selection, but it's also a smaller than usual location, and the staff are of course more than happy to order what you need. I think due to the size of the venue, they do not have a cafe at this location.

  • nicole jackson

I cannot say enough good things about the staff at this Barnes and noble! They were amazing this morning on black Friday, so helpful and welcoming! They deserve recognition for all their hard work and dedication. Above and beyond excellent customer service!!! I would give them a million stars if I could!

  • Vivian Duarte

A very good bookstore, where you can find different kinds of books, from babies to elderly, from fiction to real stories, from peace to war. You can also find some toys (a little more expensive than other specialized stores) and gifts. The attendants are very nice to help you there.

  • LENNY KUKURUZA

Needed a new Nook tablet. The person helping me explained the differences between the models (besides the prices) and what to expect. There was no pressure to go for the more expensive model. I was able to make my decision quickly. My experience was painless and hassle free.

  • Matthew H.

This is a perfect in between size Barnes & Noble. They don't have any place to hang out and read, they don't have a coffee shop, but they have a great load of books and other things. Parking is easy and usually nearby. The staff is always very helpful with finding things.

  • Corey Peterson

All books are way overpriced. They Don't have some books on release day, but have some books a week before release date. Didn't have Stephen King's newest book on release date. Everything is cheaper on Amazon, what exactly is the point of this place anymore???

  • Molly D

The employees are in your face, overly concerned or helpful?! Rude demeanor and didn't allow me to exchange holiday gifts. Complete BS. No tact, uncouth at best. I'm a long time customer of B&N, however, will never go back to the Calhoun Village location.

  • brennamarie

Great selection and an amazing staff. Specifically, Susan was amazing. She sat and talked books with me for about 20 minutes while I shopped after I asked for help finding something. She gave me so many recommendations and I had a great time with her.

  • Sam Rose

this location is so pleasant and sweet :) staff go above and beyond here and i genuinely enjoy having conversations with them when i stop in. would definitely be a regular if i lived a little closer, but it’s also pretty easy to get to by bus.

  • Paul Schmeling

We came in to get a book for my niece as a birthday date and Pete was not only pointed us in the right direction but truly made our experience a great one showing different types of books and areas to look for special selections! Thank you!!

  • Robert Rivers

Easily the best B&N around. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in customer service. It seems everyone who works here has unique sensibilities and tastes, and all will go out of their ways to help you find something you’ll be satisfied

  • rori o

I wandered into this Barnes & Noble store earlier this afternoon in search of a notebook when the store was totally empty- as someone who worked at a different B&N location a few years ago, I was excited to check out the store.

  • Julie Schmidt

Staff attentive to customers needs, finding a book. I think I'll search myself but give up,staff usually ask me. Have fun stuff in the store. If they don't have product, will search other stores or order. Friendly staff. …

  • Sheena Curry

As a bibliophile, bookstores will always get 5 stars unless their service isn't great. Barnes & Noble might be a big chain, but their staff members are always friendly and they have a wide variety of books and other gifts.

  • Garrison Kizzier (Garry)

One of the smallest B&N stores I've visited, but very cozy. Staff was friendly without being overbearing: I wasn't constantly asked if I needed help finding something- they asked once and left me to browse.

  • ILZE Klavins

I love this bookstore! They always have what I want, and items I didn't know I wanted, too. If I can't find something, the staff can find it for me. Or tell me right away that they dont have it. Amazing!

  • christopher wagner

I really enjoy Barnes and Noble, but I don't need a million receipts, and to be asked EVERYTIME if I want to be a member and how much it would save me. That's why I like automatic check out lanes

  • Reuben L Correa

Great neat as a pin book store tucked in an inviting strip mall, ( where you don't have to strip.) Helpful staff, they have a nice selection. Inviting restaurants and useful shopping in the mall.

  • Graham Slover

This location is one of the smaller Barnes & Noble book stores I've visited, though each one holds to me a certain atmosphere similar to a library. The staff is always friendly and welcoming.

  • Maria Moran Flores

Love this Barnes & Noble. It has a small bookstore feel to it. The employees are always super helpful and give AWESOME book recommendations. I'm always adding more book title to my TBR list!

  • Lala Lew

One of the last places I tried to find a guest sign in book for a memorial service! Should have been the first, had a perfect selection and was ready extremely quickly for same day pick up.

  • randy nelson

  • Bob Maplethorpe

Very helpful and friendly staff. They didn't have what I was looking for but they offered to try and find a store nearby or help me order them. Very happy with my visit

  • Kari Kounkel

Had a great visit with a friend and then enjoyed my browse time. We had to go visit at Punch; there's no little shop or seating areas in this Barnes & Noble.

  • April Fleck

We always find what we need. Its fun to browse. This store, plus a stop for pastries at Rustica, located next door, makes for a great outting with the kids.

  • Sally Marciniak

This is not my favorite Barnes & Noble. There's no Cafe and only a handful of chairs. It's also a very small store, so the selection of books is limited.

  • Karen Kimbrough

This is what I expect when shopping. There were two ladies here who were very helpful. Asking if we needed anything while always in a good mood.

  • Alex Diaz

Love to stop by every once in a while. Pet friendly, workers are helpful and if they don’t have what you’re looking for they’ll order it for you

  • James Klein

  • Elsa Mendez

Excellent service they find me a book at last that a minute they tennager that help me too find me the book has good memory for find books

  • Robert Kenyon

I love B & N but this one simply lacks chairs. Others use their space for the customers and the Cahoun store maximizes product placement.

  • Elisa Lobo Neese

Very friendly and well informed staff! It’s nice to shop here and support a real store with the “feel the touch” excellent book variety.

  • Char Terrana

Everyone is super helpful here, and if they don't have what you want they can get it for you. Online prices are comparable to Amazon.

  • Adam Peterka

Always a treat to walk into B and N. Puzzles, Books, Games, Legos galore! Don't forget to get your B and N card for awesome savings!!

  • Michelle Müssle

It has discounts on books of different genres, super organisation and a remarkable atmosphere. One of my favourite places to visit.

  • Sarah Lyle

The books are over priced. I cant believe it cost me 50 bucks for three childrens books. And the book club membership is a joke.

  • Patricia Klinger

Great customer service, B & N member, large selection of books, always go in looking for one book I always walk out with more.
