"Nice place good food and cold beer"
Decided to try this place before a show one night downtown. When we arrived there were a few people there, but they weren’t busy. We ordered our food right away and found a table. Not long after, they started to get busy. As time went on, I see food coming out of the kitchen to other tables. Several that ordered after we did. Finally I ask about the status of our food and the girl checks on it then tells me “well the cook just yelled at me, but it should be another 5-10 minutes”… like okay it’s already been about 40 minutes for a burger and a Philly cheesesteak, but we wait. 20 minutes later, I go to ask again and hear another lady taking a To Go order. She tells the guy his order will only take about 20 minutes to make while I’ve been waiting over an hour. Finally the food arrives and we have no time to eat so we ask for it to be boxed up. When we get it to our car a few minutes later, we have no condiments and the food is so over cooked it’s inedible. I called the next day to speak with a manager. After telling her my experience, I don’t get a single apology but she does agree to give me a refund “if she can find my order”, and says she’ll text me once it’s done. Never received a text but will definitely but making sure a refund goes through. As someone who works in hospitality, I try to be extra patient and nice to other hospitality workers because I know how tough it can be at times, but this was just ridiculous and didn’t seem one bit like they care about their customers.
Never been treated so poorly by bar staff and owner before. Came in with large group of friends for trip Senior year of college. IDs were checked at the bar, then after we had all been served owner came by asking to see all IDs again. He proceeded to keep all 15+ of our IDs claiming “over half of these are fake” and called the police. We had to wait over an hour while being refused service to have police come and confirm that all of our IDs were indeed real. In that time we were repeatedly yelled at by an indignant bar tender (dressed like a wanna be train conductor) who had no clue what she was talking about. If fake IDs are such a liability/problem for owner, train your staff on how to spot a fake ID, buy a scanner or figure it tf out. Unbelievable.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Sat at the bar for 10 minutes before we could get bartenders’ attention and was told we need to get up and walk over to his computer to order because he doesn’t write things down. Ordered mozzarella sticks and only two had cheese, rest were empty. My boyfriend got a Philly cheesesteak.. barely any meat and all bread. I got a chicken Caesar wrap and asked for grilled chicken as that’s what was advertised on the menu.. was told they only have fried chicken. Cook wore no gloves. As we were eating, we overheard a girl bartender talking to the customer next to us about how she and the other workers drank a whole bottle of alcohol at work the night before and she’s always drunk. Idk why people rave about this place.. maybe because it’s the only food option in town. Would never return.
This is a good spot if you are into cars!!! Like what the new management is doing!!! Can't wait to what happens in the future!!! Edited 9/23/2023 - I have visited this location recently during a Jags game and unfortunately, if you do not fit the perceived profile (car guys and Bikers) when the establishment is busy you will most likely not be served. Sat for 20 mins and not a single bartender, 2 on duty who passed me 6 times each, never said a word to me. Strongly recommend customers stay away, unless regulars, during game days and other potentially high capacity events. If you go during potentially high capacity events, and are not a regular during non-high capcoty events, expect that if they do not know you, they will not serve you.

Nice place good food and cold beer. It was NYE and multiple college bowl games were on. It had a pretty good mix of people. Not sure what it’s like on a normal night but it was definitely buzzing on New Year’s Eve. There were lines of people ordering drinks and food. The bartenders that were there were hustling getting everything they could. They were just understaffed for the influx of people they had during the games. It emptied out a bit after the Ohio State win. When it was over and you could see the relief on the bartenders faces as they got a minutes break. I would definitely recommend a stop to grab a cold one. Going to try to stop by next time I’m in town.

We went during happy hour. I looked online and found what I thought would be a good deal. Turns out, it’s not. If I go somewhere I’m going to try it anyhow if I sit down. We Walked in expecting to spend $20 and walked out spending about $50 after the tip. 2 baskets, 2 beers and a mixed drink was our check. Not to mention the $10 chicken tender basket came with 3 measly half a Publix boneless tenders. We also got the grilled cheese with cheese sticks on it and it didn’t have any flavor. No butter, no seasoning. Service was good, but the bland overpriced food and “happy hour” drinks we were served was not close to worth it. Atmosphere was pretty chill. We won’t be back. I’m really surprised by the reviews.
Went there and asked for a rum runner, the girl didn't even know what it was so when we she googled it she said they don't have blackberry or banana liqueur so I got a Long Island instead. Well after the girl walked away I looked down behind the bar and literally right behind where she was standing was a bottle of blackberry liqueur and right behind it was a bottle of banana liqueur. So when I pointed it out she said oh we must have just got those in...The banana one was unopened but the blackberry had spout on it and was almost empty. And then the kitchen messed up my food order so I sent it back paid my tab and left. They have a bad tippers board... Now I know why there's so many bad tippers.
Stopped by Wildcat records tonight for dinner while in Jacksonville for work. Max and I ordered the chicken and shrimp basket. And also the deep fried chicken Parm . The chicken and shrimp were great . The chicken Parm was crunchy and very tasty . Lots of sauces to choose from. Very entertaining night as there was a show next door .

Nice little place. A little understaffed when I was there, but service was friendly. Standard pub food fare secured quickly. More than a dozen beers on tap and a section of bottles. I got the burger with the fried egg on top and tots. Quite good.

Not kid friendly. It's a dive bar.
Giving this place 1 star is more than they deserve! We arrived at 6:00 and ordered our food and a couple beers. Our appetizers came out fairly quick, but the cheese sticks were warm, at best. They weren’t very busy! At 6:45 the couple behind us, who ordered their food before us, went up and canceled their order. At 6:50 another couple went up and canceled their food! When 7:00 rolled around, and we were still waiting for our food, we cancelled our order! We had somewhere to be! It shouldn’t take an hour to cook 2 burgers! The staff didn’t seem to care one bit that people were leaving! The beer was cold and refreshing, otherwise I would not recommend this place for food!
This place was horrible for food. I ordered the chicken “Thumbs” which are said to be hand breaded. The bar tender said they had changed the oil in the morning. I didn’t ask and he explained this. Basically apologized and justified the poor food before I could send it back. I think he just didn’t want to deal with the cook. I saw another review where the food came out like this. This was terrible. Should have never left the kitchen. The back area of these restaurants are sometimes on the news for raw sewage. It’s really just a place to go get beer and drinks and play pool and listen to live music. Don’t try to eat here and think it’s going to be anything special.
Waiting in a line for 30 minutes to get a beer really makes for an awesome night. You'd think when there is an event next door they could get some extra help for the few hours before a big concert. This place is a joke. Will never return. Neither will the others in my party. Edit: for the response from the venue left below. I would expect a sarcastic remark from the service that we received. Also, upgrading the review to two stars from one because once we were finally able to order food and drink, although my wife's burger was overdone and tasteless, the club sandwich I ordered was well above par. Place could be so much more with better systems in place.
A very laid back bar with a locals feel. The food is mostly pre-frozen standard bar snacks with the exception of the burgers which were fresh cooked and juicy. They did offer some dessert selections which looked interesting but we did not have time to try due to time restraints. The thing I would go back for is the games, they had pool tables, darts, a pinball machine and even a free Nintendo emulator on the big screen TV! The staff was nice if a little overwhelmed, we never received one of our appetizers and our food took some time to come out of the tiny kitchen. Worth a look and I will try it again when my theatre tickets aren’t pressing me for time.
When you get service, the wings and burgers are good. I'd probably rate it 4/5 on a good day. But last I was here, I went to the bar at 8pm and sat there unattended for 10 minutes while I watched the bartender take a shot with another patron, then crack open a White Claw, then pass by me to go outside to smoke, all without a single bit of acknowledgement. I don't care what you do on the job, but I at least expect to get service when I sit at the bar. There were only 5-6 people at the bar, all being attended to - it was not busy. Unreal. I won't be coming back.

Most of my party got wings. Those were pretty good and came out in a reasonably timely fashion. I however got “the win” sandwich, and boy that was disappointing. The meat was fatty and chewy, my “cooked” peppers and onions were still very crunchy, and they put the wrong cheese on my sandwich, and the cheese wasn’t even warm enough to be melted like it should be. The sandwich wasn’t even warm when it came out. The whole experience was very disappointing for me. It wasn’t even busy, there were only two other people sitting at the bar when our food came out. I can’t imagine how bad it would be if it were.
After the Game Sunday, we walked to find a place to eat/drink. Bay Street was rated high on Google- not sure why. The staff has no concept of hospitality, telling you to get in line to order. Why have a bar if you don't want to serve people? The blond was only concerned about leaving, the brunette didn't say anything, and when the 3rd bartender- overalls & red hat, came in, they grabbed water, and red bull and hung out. No one seemed to want to take care of anyone. I get game days are busy, but staff should be able to serve those waiting.

It is counter service kind of like McDonalds but not done nearly as well but they still expect a generous tip (they even have a marker board calling out names of bad tippers)? Do you tip at McDonalds or any counter service establishment? If you sit at the bar you still have to get up, get in line at the register, then order a beer and return to your seat….. Anyway, the food was terrible, counter service was slow, and the beer was, beer. Was mostly empty (yet still bad service) on a Friday night happy hour time frame, that should tell you all you need to know.
Zero service or hospitality; and, then they put your name up on a board to shame you if you don't leave big enough of a tip for them. They even posted a guy's phone number on it. Also there's this weird psudo-leftist (these people are nothing like actual hardworking communists) vibe to the place. Reply to reply by owner: No problem lmao someone posted your restaruant on reddit. You seem like a good sport. Changed 2 Five stars. Damn the algorithm

Food was okay, however the service was absolutely terrible and quite literally did not exist. We walked into the restaurant, used the bathroom and discovered there were no hand towels or A TOILET SEAT. There is an open drain with water 6 inches from the floor in the mens restroom as well. (See attached photos) The restaurant is overall unsanitary and visually disappointing. I cannot believe my experience here was so horrendous and the only reason I rate Bay Street Bar and Grill as 2 stars instead of 1 is because the food was okay.
We ordered the burgers. There was way too much bun for the 4 oz burger. The tomato was one end piece that you would not normally use. We each received the same end piece of the tomato. Spent more time standing at the bar waiting to order food, waiting to order drinks and waiting to pay then it took us to eat. There were only about 10 people total in the place. The music was horrible trance type music. It was definitely not a rave. Will not go back.

While doing a staycation at the nearby Marriott, we ventured over to this spot and had dinner. We gave the food a four because the wings weren't cooked as crispy as we would have liked them to be and to send them back after the seasoning had been added, wouldn't have been idea but they were good. The loaded fries are about the size of 3 large Idaho potatoes cut into fries. They were good.

We had a great time here on New Year's. We started with a couple of drinks and dinner. It was pretty standard bar food, but it was delicious. The bartender was immediately friendly and super-welcoming (she even did a Pickle-back with us and some other guests). As the night went on, we had an awesome time singing karaoke, enjoying a few more drinks and the company of our fellow bar-goers. All in all, we had a great time and would recommend this place to anyone looking to have fun in downtown Jacksonville.
Customer service was great. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and made to feel welcomed. Unfortunately, it doesn't make for the lack of cleanliness. The bathroom was nasty and the stench extended to the whole place. Ordered chips and salsa, and when I was brought the hot sauce to the table almost threw up when I saw the ring of crust around the opening of the bottle.

We visited from out of town on 06/14. This place was the closest in terms of walking distance to our hotel (Hyatt). I'm genuinely so glad we chose this place. Dorian was nothing but awesome. The atmosphere was so comfortable. Food was out in 15 mins or less and amazing. Our cocktails were poured so generously. My boyfriend and I wished there was a place like this in the Sarasota area. We already determined if we ever come back to Jacksonville we will absolutely come back! Thanks again Dorian!!!
I was recently in Jacksonville for a work conference and needed a quick place to grab lunch that was close to the hotel. This place might not look like much on the outside, but the food was FANTASTIC. Best french fries I’ve ever had in my life, hands down. The workers were all very friendly, and this would definitely be a regular stop for me if I was a local. A fun, relaxed, and welcoming atmosphere.

I would have given this dump a negative rating if possible. It is pretty nasty and dirty, restrooms are disgusting. We were a party of 7 and only 5 received their dinners after waiting 2 hours! We were told several times the 2 missing dinners would be out shortly, when they did finally appear they were cold. The bartender was rude and the manager wasn’t much better than she was. He grudgingly refunded the cost of the dinners. Stay away from this place unless you’re desperate.
Came here for hangover food on a Saturday morning. I should have known the food was going to be terrible by how they make you pay up front. After I paid, I received the worst looking breakfast of my life. Black greasy eggs, undercooked hash browns, and I even found a hair that was cooked into the eggs at the end. My friend and I didn't even finish eating because it was so gross. If you have to walk an extra mile for food, do yourself a favor.
Great spot! Hubby & I stopped here after a workout session & the food was great. We had wings, the morning burger & onion rings. The atmosphere was cozy, not upscale more like a cool bar but very comfortable. My only con is for what we ordered the price was slightly high considering that we had no alcoholic drinks (not for a night out but if you're just in the area & need a quick bite it's sort of steep) ....but the food is well worth it
The food here was great! We had the jalapeno poppers, lemon pepper wings with mild, Buffalo sauce, and the bleu cheese burger. The local, craft beer on tap was good. Most importantly Beth, our server, was a gem. She was attentive, friendly, and funny as sh*t! Honestly the best part of our weekend trip to Jacksonville was hanging out with Beth. Swing by and check this place out if you're looking for a casual place with good food.
I usually don't give bad reviews, but my best friend was in town for a conference, I was just there on vacation. We went here to get dinner, about 6:40 pm. We walk in ,sit at a table, people behind counter don't greet, don't say, you have to order at bar, not someone will be with you shortly....NOTHING..and no it wasn't busy. After a few minutes, we took our black selves out with our GREEN money and spent it somewhere else.
As a former kitchen manager from a former wing spot great wings an flavor bartender Chris was awesome lady taking inventory had a great vibe an was awesome too I will always come here when in the downtown Jax area being a local.THANK YOU DUUUUVAALLLL

On the advice of a friend, I stopped by for supper here while at a nearby conference. You order at the bar and they bring out your food when it’s ready. I got the black and blue burger, which was great, as well as the steak fries which had just the right amount of softness in the middle and crunch on the outside. They do have a reasonable selection of beers on tap and the service was good. Stop by if you’re in the area!
The burger was defintley not frozen . It was juicy with my choice of cheese. The fries were fresh . The bartender was full of knowledge and was quick and nice . I I definitely going to try one them fried chicken sandwiches and a craft beer.

Solid dive bar. This place is mostly basketball/sports focused. I went in to watch the hockey game and they where nice enough to change one of the TVs to the game. The real highlight was the bartender, he was absolutely one of the funniest people I've ever had the pleasure of speaking with. I recommend this location if you can snag the right bartender.

I'm rating this place 3 stars only because I was over charged did not realize it until I left I had 2 burgers and 4 beers and my price came to $52. But the beautiful young waitress named Chris with purple hair is worth 5 stars. She is not the one that closed out my tab it was the manager and I believe it was an honest mistake But I definitely overpaid 4 beers should not come to 20 bucks
This place has good food but falls short on customer service. It has potential to be great with pool, darts, and a pinball machine. Decent beer list. Problem is when you put money in a juke box ask if they can turn it up and are ignored for thirty minutes. The bar backs went outside to hangout with more regulars and ignored other guest. Won't return, hope they get thier act together.
Didn't like the fact that you have to stand in line to order food to only have it just tossed on the table with very little interaction from workers, then they EXPECT a tip at the end of what I would call a very mediocre experience. I will NEVER be back

We were highly disappointed in the food we received last night! Our burgers were burnt so badly that they were inedible, no amount of mayo & mustard could cover the burnt bun that held my scorched burger, and my corn fritters were so over cooked that there was no longer creaminess inside. We spent $100 on food here for our family and could’ve received better from Burger King!
Food was subpar. Spent $13 on a BLT that the toast wasn't even warm. You would expect if you spend $13 on a BLT it would come on some really great bread not your avg white bread/toast. The only good tut hing was its proximity to Florida Theater which was where we were headed. Once is enough for me.

The food is okay but the customer service SUCKS! I called to rectify an error made on my order (ordered hot honey wings and received Buffalo wings) the young lady refused to admit she made a mistake. I will not be ordering from this establishment again. This is the second time I ordered over the phone and paid and my order was incorrect taken by the same person each time.
We wanted to eat downtown tonight, decided to try it here as never been before. We ordered our food and an hour later still not even the appetizer. At an hour and ten minutes, one of the burgers came out. Still no appetizer, hot dog or the other burger. Would of of been nice if we were told would take over an hour to cook 2 burgers and a hot dog, would of gone elsewhere.
A great bar and grill in the downtown area. The staff make you feel right at home, and the weekly specials are always great!

Employees very welcoming and polite. The place was very clean and a pleasant atmosphere. This was my first time here as I just moved in around the corner was very happy to find this gem! The food was hot and high quality and very good was ready and served quickly. The prices are extremely reasonable. Will frequent Bay Street Bar Grill regularly
Visited Jacksonville from Chicago and this was one of the closer eateries near my hotel. Doesn't look like much but...the food is freaking excellent. Had wings, onion rings & jalapeno poppers. They were all great. The wings were flavorful and crispy and you could tell it was fresh. It's a dive bar-ish place with great food.
This is nothing like it used to be. Service was mediocre at best, the atmosphere completely soulless. It wasn’t exactly cleaned either. Not sure what changed but it went down the hill.

Easy to find, very chill environment with EXCELLENT wings and other food dishes. First visit was on a Wednesday for $0.50 Wing Night, and I make a point to stop as often as I can when I travel up from Orlando before heading home. Awesome, friendly staff as well. Great place to bring friends or chill by yourself.
I was hoping to have a few drinks and then maybe enjoy a cigar outside on a nice evening. What I got was less than generous pour of whiskey in a plastic cup and a weird amount of attitude when I asked if anyone had a book of matches. Didn't feel welcome so I left.

Love the atmosphere here. Beer selection was great and there's just a good vibe in there. The food good, but it is pretty standard pub food so nothing like super special and it's kinda pricey for pub food, but it is a downtown place so I figure that's kinda part of the deal. But the beers were great.

Okay beer selection, decent amount of craft brews. They also offer canned/bottled commercial brews. The food was below average i.m.o, and I had to ask for ketchup for my fries. Wanted to get another beer at the end of the night, was mostly ignored so I went down the street to another bar.
Larry is an amazing chef. We go out of our way to stop in when he's working to get a burger that Larry cooked. His burgers are magical and you can taste the love. Paired with a decent beer selection of local and craft brew...What more could you ask for. Props to Larry. He needs a raise.
Bar has a lot of potential good setup Long bar two pool tables, hardly no service, they give you numbers and some big guy screaming out numbers which drowns out the terrible new wave music. Sometimes they actually bring the food. Food just okay, probably wouldn't go back.
4 adults with 2 young boys wanted lunch not far from the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena around 1:30 pm. If you like the smell of weed when you walk through, then head on down. Their reviews say they regularly sanitize. Maybe a whole building fumigation is in order.
Only had two people on staff. Sunday night, very busy. Waited 20 mins for food. Could not get more drinks , because of staffing. Waited in line so long that my food got clod waiting in line to get my dripping sauce when I got my food. Will not be coming back.

Good stop for a beer, but don't expect service of any kind. "Menus are over there".... "Knives and forks are over there". They have a sign up for bad tippers. Funny at first until the abysmal service... I felt like I was at the DMV. Good music though!
Great place. Food was great the best for the price. We fed the three kids and two adults for $30.00. Of course we shared fries. I would definitely go there again but leave the kids home so we can have a few drinks and quite conversation. Was very good
Chris at the bar is condescending and unwelcoming. Also a shot of Jameson is 10 dollars. Extremely overpriced drinks

Stopped in to have a cold drink on a hot summer day. Great service from Kris the bartender! She has a great personality, makes great drinks and keeps a conversation. We didn't try the food however we plan to stop in again and try it soon!

Have been here twice so far with my husband and 2 small kids for dinner. Very nice and chill spot. Food is amazing! The kids love the cheese crunch boy and corn nuggets! We will be back often! Can’t wait to bring family from out of state.
I find the place to be quite cozy for a bar. It has pool tables and darts. A great selection of beers on tap. But the food was super greasy. I felt like I ate more grease than food. But other than that I do enjoy coming and shooting pool.
A nice and comfy dive bar and grill in the heart of the elbow. The perfect place to grab dinner and drinks before heading to myth, underbelly or 1904! I personally am a huge fan of the hotdogs, but everything I've had here is amazing!
Staff was friendly and the environment is nice but the chicken was no good. I ordered two types of wings (Asian & Buffalo). There was barely any sauce and the meat tasted like it was pumped with chemicals. The French fries were ok.
This spot was amazing....quaint, fun, dive bar atmosphere with the best bartenders! Chelsea was AWESOME! Drinks were excellent and not too pricey. Definitely not cheap but won't break the bank! Hubby and I will definitely be back!
Awful. Bar full of both Cowboys and Jags fans. Sat at the bar for 15 minutes and was ignored by 3 bartenders. Disappointing because they have Cowboys flag outside. Thought they would welcome these 2 Texans. Nope. Do not recommend
Best. Bar. EVER. Staff is so friendly and cool (shout out to Kelsey and Dory to name a few). Atmosphere is chill and the food is awesome. The drinks are strong and on point. Awesome place to chill after a long day. Thanks y'all!
Took my BFF for her birthday we had a nice time.

Don't expect service. Orders for the same group or table do not come out together. Took over a hour to get my sandwich. My friend was done. We allowed 2 hours to eat and I had 10 minutes to gag mine down. WILL NOT BE BACK.
Food was greasy and lacked appeal. Basic frozen food dropped in some warm grease. Drinks were strong and staff was coo.

They are playing "Vogue" by Madonna, is this a "bar & grill" or a gay bar? Never mind, one of the patrons just spoke... Definitely a fruit bar.

Food was quickly served and tasted great. Our bartender Jordan did a great job of making sure we had all the condiments we wanted and asked if we had any additional requests. Would definitely go again!
We were in town for a conference and boy am I glad we stopped here. Clearly a slice of local culture and a great place to relax and not have to put on airs. Their signature Burger is worth the trip.
Cheesesteak was a little dry. Service and beer selection great.

Food was great and reasonably priced. Staff was excellent. Only needed one drink. I'm just mad our game ended after they closed, the hostess was gonna buy us a round if we won. Great experience!
I went here on lunch for work and got the mushroom burger. It came out fast enough I got to chat and hang out. I really enjoyed talking to the girl behind the bar with pink hair, and the prices.
Good bar with cheap deals on beer and food. Food was great.

Bartender was great to me and my wife when we went for lunch. They have really good food for a bar in my opinion! I would have given a 5 star but the bathroom was kinda ghetto.
What a cool place! Great beer selection, atmosphere, and food. Trifecta! Will be back many times for years to come.

College football Saturday and 4 tv’s are on roku screen savers, draft beer tastes like the lines aren’t cleaned (thanks Jon Taffer), and wings are flavorless
These people really have the audacity to publicly shame people that don’t tip. How about pay your employees so they don’t rely on donations instead? …
