Six months ago, we purchased a vehicle from Shaun Moonen at Ringwood Motors via Carsales.com.au. Since we were interstate, we purchased the vehicle sight unseen due to travel restrictions. Our experience with Mr. Moonen and the vehicle purchased has been an immense disappointment. The following are key points of our disapproval: Major Issues: -Catastrophic suspension failure - The front suspension gave out completely while driving on a light four-wheel drive track. Luckily, we were traveling at a slow speed and no one was injured. Had we been traveling faster, damage and physical harm could have been worse. After speaking with the mechanic, he had informed us that the lift kit was installed incorrectly. The repairs entailed replacing the entire suspension front and rear resulting in almost $5,400 total, along with the vehicle being out of commission for almost two months. -Tires - While discussing the vehicle purchase with Mr. Moonen, he had mentioned that he had the mud tires that were pictured in the Carsales.com.au ad swapped out for a different set of all-terrain tires. We were okay with the swap as we didn’t really want that type of tire for our driving needs. The tires that were put on had minimal tread remaining (including the spare) and lots of nails and screws in all of them. Surprisingly, I did not suffer any flats. All five tires were replaced at a cost of roughly $2000. -Questionable Shipping - After purchase, we were informed by Mr. Moonen that the vehicle had been shipped, but was given no shipping information(even after requesting it several times). After a month’s wait, the vehicle finally arrived unannounced. By that point, we were considering seeking legal help as we began to believe that we had been swindled. -Inspection/Registration - While having the vehicle inspected for registration, it was pointed out that the indicator lights in the bullbar did not work, and neither did the horn. The MVR was hesitant to let the vehicle pass inspection. - Climate control knobs not working - Although the A/C works well, the knobs can not be turned all the way to turn on the defrost. We were unaware of this until we found ourselves driving in a heavy rainstorm. We had to pull over and wait out the storm because we were unable to defrost the windscreen. Taking responsibility doesn't seem to be a strong suit if you look through the reviews.

Actually giving Ringwood used cars a star for sales and customer service is probably too much. Shaun sold a car to my daughter and it has been nothing but a pain. After buying the car shortly afterwards it needed a battery change and that was just the start of the problem. My daughter needed the car for work so was totally reliant on it but it soon developed a fault and the car became unpredictable on whether it would start or not. She had the car for less than a month and then returned the car with engine warning lights displaying "Engine Malfunction". The ever so helpful Shaun agreed to take the car back to investigate and repair the fault. He and his mechanic had it for 3 weeks!!! and said it was fixed. She took the car away and it started to breakdown again. She paid Shaun a visit to vent her frustration and to resolve the problem. After a heated discussion Shaun ordered my daughter off the sales pitch or he would call the police. I was on the phone and could hear his threat. Great after sales service Shaun I must admit. She had spent all her money on the car and couldn't afford to do anything else. The car was a dud and he must have known about it. My daughter managed to get the car running and had no option but to take a chance that the car would keep going. Sometimes the car fires up and sometimes it does nothing. Eventually the car broke down again and the recovery guy said that the electrics didn't look right but he managed to get it started. Eventually with no option the car went into an auto-electrician to try and sort the fault. The auto-electrician said it needed to go into a Ford Dealers for some serious electrical work. He valued that work to be around 2,000 dollars. My daughter couldn't afford that so the car is currently stranded and constantly displays the "Engine Malfunction" message. Well done Shaun for ripping off a young woman who just needed a car to get to work. You took her money and did one. My advise to anyone is be cautious when buying a car from Shaun at Ringwood. If you are a new buyer and don't have much knowledge like me about cars, my advice is to give a second thought before being their customer. I bought a Toyota Echo, the outlook was very impressive, they said it was in excellent condition but later found problems one by one. Since I had very little knowledge about cars, I didn't understand they sold the car with existing issues, like one seat belt didn't work, one door lock malfunction, electrical issues, poor tyre condition, rusting inside engine etc. Couple of weeks, they had excellent response and behaviors. After few communication they fixed only the seatbelt and then turned their back. They suggested me to take the car to an auto electrician and a mechanic. Anyway, later I assessed the car with an individual inspector and came to know it was having an average condition. From my experience: When you bargain, they may say " you are the 4th person who have asked this price", please don't trust them. After purchase if you try to contact them, chance of response will be "I am overseas now will come after...." a method of delaying. If you ask them to fix your car problem, they may say they don't have any candy at the moment! I feel like they are business people, not service people. In my opinion, they are experts of selling garbage in high price.

Terrible experience. Bought a car that survived 4 months before expiry. I asked Shaun why the "check engine" alert was on after day 2, and was told it was an automated servicing alert that I could ignore. I had to replace the transmission the air con and the radiator. Congratulations on taking advantage of a female customer Shaun. Another advantageous and opportunistic salesman. I do not recommend this business!

Shaun at Ringwood used cars made the whole process of buying a car so much easier than I ever thought possible. From the first phone call he directed me to a great finance broker and together they made the process seamless from start to finish. The car is fantastic and I can't recommend them more if your looking to purchase a car. Well done Shaun. You'll be my first port of call when looking for my next car.

In Covid times, buying a car via click and collect/deliver is very daunting. However Darren eased my mind, there was no pressure and I received excellent service. The car was driven to my home nd then I got to test drive alone to my satisfaction. Easy transaction and within 90min the car was mine to drive home!

Horrible experience here. Was interested in taking a car for a test drive, with a view to buy it that afternoon, and the guy had no interest in taking me. He did himself out of a sale! Very very poor customer service. And reading some of these bad reviews I'm glad I didn't buy it now!!
