Beware!! I purchased a used 4WD vehicle from Concord Car Sales, paid $19,500 for it (top dollar, considering that Redbook valuation is only $12,990), because the dealer ASSURED me that he used to be a mechanic, that he checked the car and that the car HAS NO ISSUES. On my first trip out of the city I got stuck (but naively I said to myself, it is only a one off, the dealer said the car is fine, right?). After I got stuck with it again on my second trip, I took it to a Diesel Systems specialist (Cornell Diesel Systems) who got recommended to me by my mechanic. After 3 hours thorough inspection, they produced a detailed diagnostic report that outlined major defects, with an estimated repair cost of over $16,000! (82% from what I paid for the car less than 3 months ago! and hardly driving it) I contacted the dealer and provided him all the reports , and he basically washed his hands off it, saying "it is because you didn't drive enough with it during these 2 1/2 months.."). really?! What a joke! Only after I applied to VCAT, the dealer started showing interest... He took the car for his own "inspection" and said that his "4Wd specialist" couldn't find any major issues (even though I asked, he never provided the name of that "specialist", their company name or any report.. ) I asked him to take the car back and refund me but he refused, saying that it is an old car and repairs should be expected ( It is not that I don't expect that repairs will be needed at some point, but $16,000 repairs only 2 1/2 months after purchasing it for $20,000 ?! and this is after he said "I checked the car, I used to be a mechanic, and there are no issues..' ) I am frustrated with myself for trusting the dealer, but lesson learnt. Hopefully my experience will save you having a similar one.. I am now waiting for a VCAT hearing . Beware!!!

I would not recommend even setting foot inside the Car City compound unless you have someone with you that has good experience looking at/buying used cars. The majority of the "dealers" that rent space here are unfortunately lacking in basic customer service skills. The salesmen hover out the front of their lots and descend on you like vultures as you walk past. They are dressed in casual clothes and don't even look the part, most of them will claim they have a suitable car for you and also claim they can get you a good deal on finance. The finance part is through a company that ALSO has an office inside Car City, all the dealers appear to use them - no doubt getting some kind of referral fee. I was originally going to purchase a car from a dealer here however I changed my mind after getting advice about the unreliability of the car. I contacted the dealer and said I will evoke the contract termination clause. Instead of trying to be helpful and maybe even ask if I was interested in anything else the owner got flustered and told me not to believe the advice I had received. This same dealer also refused to allow my mechanic to inspect the car at his own workshop. At least I got part of my deposit back, legally the dealer can keep 10% if you cancel the contract, unfortunately.

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM HERE, Mine had major problems within the very first 70kms of driving it, they said the problem was going to be fixed and replaced under warranty when I went and picked it up the exact same problem happened again, engine was shuttering loosing power and making a wierd fluttering sound everytime I accelerated,, Took it back, picked it up , took it back, picked it up.. they never replaced or changed anything, if they did they didnt have any paper work or anything, In the end I just drove the car until that problem caused the whole car to just stop dead in peak our traffic. Purchased a car from Simple Cars, not only were they pushy towards taking out warranty but they sold the car with flat tyres. Rear tyres were 14psi and front were 22psi, instead of the standard tyre pressure of 33psi. Two tyres were unroadworthy and the front wheel alignment was that far out that everytime you turn the vehicle, the tyres squealed on the road. Would advise anyone going to Car City to avoid Simple Cars! 6 months on... had to replace left and right tyre rods and bushes. While this was being fixed the mechanic noticed that 2 rear shockers were broken and may as well have been non existent. Had the car on the road for another month, it has now blown the rear diff. Over $5000 in repairs needed in 6 months. Mechanic has questioned how this car passed a roadworthy!

Good range if dealers with cars for sale. For the reps that approached us, all respected we were just looking, unless something jumped out. Those we engaged, seemed knowledgeable for their reasons to avoid what we were thinking and how their deal was better value (not better price). Met one older fella up under a huge undercover parking section during a smoke break. He was fairly frank about what we should look for and about being realistic with our budget. He was ace! More looked like a mechanic than a sales rep, but he was the kinda guy I'd trust in a deal. Felt like the kind of guy that would say, I could take your money but sounds like you really need to shop around for....

Do not trust Simple Cars, do not buy from simple cars all round bad experience. Bought a golf from Simple cars and have had nothing but problem after problem. I go to them asking what they can do, “not my problem you signed a waver” after walking away they relent and offer me repairs at trade prices at their mechanic Silverwings garage. I call, get told they are busy then my calls are rejected and cannot get thru, I tried calling on different days 7 attempts. So I have booked the car in at my own mechanic, this all before my first service. I am now stuck with a unroadworthy car and have had to get a hire car in order to keep my job. Thanks a bunch Toby…

TERRIBLE - bought a car from Eastern Direct Cars in this yard and in just 8 weeks the engine blew. I have lost 9k straight away. Mechanic said it was sold to me with a faulty engine. AVOID this place at all costs it is horrendous and the staff are very unprofessional. When i rang to explain the situation to them at Eastern Direct Cars, they told me to go away and sell the car privately and hung up. They spoke to me in a horrible manner. DO NOT buy a car from here especially from Eastern Direct Cars, they are cowboys that sell bad cars. They are the worst type of people I have ever done business with.

I can not speak highly enough of COAST TO COAST car sales. Eighteen months ago my husband bought a car off this dealership and it has run like a dream. We have gone back and bought a later model Mercedes and again the car is brilliant. I asked to have a dint removed from the bumper and a small scratch touched up from the door and both were done by the time I came to pick it up. The guys there were quite helpful and let me drive a number of cars before I settled on the one I did. This complex may get a bad wrap on SM but there are definitely still good sellers in there who will do you a good deal.

I recently travelled from Yarrawonga in regional Victoria to visit Car City Ringwood. Many of our family in our town had recommended many of the dealers in the complex. After being a little anxious in making the trip, I soon was at ease the moment I arrived at the complex. It had a lovely friendly, family and professional vibe to it. The vehicle we had shortlisted online at one of the yards was ready for us and waiting in prime condition. I bought the car on the spot, he gave me the best price ever and also a top price on my trade in. The transaction was so easy and relaxed.

I purchased a car from autocourte a dealer on your lot. As by law the car was ment to be transferred and ready to go. It has not been transferred and the guy is ignoring my contact attempts I am now unable to get to work or go anywhere else. This has impacted my income and caused a great deal of stress on my family especially with a newborn child. Over all terrible experience and I hope once my consumer affairs case goes through the guy will be fined substantially. Do not buy from him

Deals that at this time was not for me except for one that could have but I looked else were . But after looking through some very well presented vehicles with different dealers I did see.that if you are looking for a vehicle it does not matter if you are upper middle or lower class prices vary with different dealers from $5.000 to $80.000

Do not Buy from Eastern Direct cars - they are misleading and dodgy, tricked me into thinking and verbally told me I had an extended warranty then when my car needed $2000 worth of repairs laughed at me and said extended warranty is not free ! I said you told me this car came with an extended warranty I said this is the reason I buy from car dealers so I am protected from this .... so awful the way they are so misleading and take advantage of women. Great place to shop for a used car. Lots and lots of choices as the place is huge with thousands of cars. Everything is in the open so if it's a really hot, really cold or rainy day it can be quite uncomfortable. There is a central Café and toilets if needed. We've bought and sold several cars here and it's always worth negotiating. There are also quite a few other car dealerships around Car City where you can also look at New and used cars.

Undoubtedly THE destination for purchasing cars in Melbourne. Great range from commercials to classics and from "price-range" to prestige! The Cafe is also excellent, offering some of the best coffee I have tasted anywhere! Specifically, my experience with Ringwood Haval was outstanding. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, without applying any sort of pressure. Congratulations to Chris for building such a wonderful team!

One of the easiest processes I’ve encountered when purchasing a 2nd hand car. A huge range of cars from a variety of dealers meant I had a lot of cars to choose from. All the staff at the different yards were extremely helpful and not pushy at all (I would have walked away if they were). Final choice was easy in the end and the staff at the yard helpful and professional.
