Amazing independent veteranary clinic. I’ve used them for years with my dog who lived to be 23 and my cats. I saw a vet at very short notice on Friday 2nd to look at calming options for my cat for bonfire night which lasts a week where I live. After a recent very bad experience at Vets for Pets (more like profit) Colton (I was confused about my cats annual booster date, and couldn’t get in to see a vet at Beechwood that day) I was worried about taking to the vets again so soon but I needn’t have. The vet I saw was so kind and gentle with my boy, stroking him, talking to him, reassuring him and having a lovely nurse assist him so I could just concentrate on tickling my boy’s sweet spot and relaxing him. Special tablets were made up for me very quickly, charges were minimal and claw cutting cost 50% less than the previously named lousy practice. Reception staff are always so helpful and friendly, offering to call me a taxi and chatting to me as I waited for his tablets. I’ll never make the mistake of going anywhere else ever again. The difference in the quality of care between these two practices is night and day. Beechwood really cares for animals and their owners, the other cares for inflated fixed rate charging and profit margins. I’d recommend Beechwood to any pet lover. You aren’t rushed during the consultation and questions are welcomed, answered and helpful suggestions (like how to give a reluctant cat a tablet) are offered freely. A wonderful practice.

Had a horrendous time at this vets with many animals. The last one in particular being that they administrated an injection to my rabbit. No mention of a second one until we rang back saying he wasn't better, and they said oh well you had to come back for a second one (despite no mention of it on appointment cards or notes on system), that we would have to start again and pay again for the first injection to then have the second. When I tried to complain as we had not been informed of a second jab the owner simply said we're not a charity, to which I replied yes I know you are a business and I'm reporting a fault in how you have sold us something. So not only have they done something wrong with no evidence to back them they are rude and entitled in the process. They never take responsibility even when they have no proof on their side. My older dog also had what they referred to as fat lumps for years up until we took her to another vet for a second opinion to find out it was cancer and at the point to far gone to do anything. They are useless I have a million other incidents that have happened. All round a terrible vet. Would never use again, and advise so to others.

I have used this practice for over 20 years, however I have lost all faith in this practice and would not recommend them to anyone. My dog recently died 48 hours after a very minor operation, despite me taking her back to them three times and their emergency vet twice in those 48 hours to be told, there was nothing wrong. I emailed them to complain about the poor treatment my dog had received. The response was dismissive of any failing on their part and frankly showed a lack of genuine concern for me or my dog. I think this practice has too many vets, a high turnover off staff and no continuation of care. I have moved my remaining pets to a different practice.

We took Harry this morning to the new Seacroft Hospital branch for the hardest of visits and to put him out of his discomfort. Considering our enormous stress and grief losing our 15 year old beloved Cocker Spaniel the experience could not have been better handled. The place and staff oozed sympathy, dignity, professionalism and real care putting Harry front and centre. We were led straight to the quiet room and had everything explained with such care and clarity. For the most awful of circumstances we cannot speak highly enough of Beechwood.

I recently had to put my cat Ricky to sleep at Beechwood Vets Crossgates. The staff (Nicole in particular) were absolutely amazing. So sympathetic, kind and caring. We were given as much time as we needed and they were very sensitive and supportive throughout. Nicole gave him a dignified send off which made a difficult decision as easy as it could be. I can't thank you enough for how you handled everything. (Also thank-you to Katarina who helped with his illness previously, she too was incredible) x

Friendly staff, always put the welfare of animals first. The waiting room can get a bit noisy with all the various animals if it's busy so keep in mind if your pet has a nervous disposition, but still better than other vets in this regard. Prices compare favourably to other vets in general area and the vets and nurses have always gone the extra mile to make sure our pets get the attention and care they need when they need it. Highly recommended.

Have used this vet for a number of years but unfortunately in the last two years have noticed that you never see the same vet twice so every time you attend an appointment you have to go over everything about you pet again, also on my last two visits I have been overcharged and when questioned the vets always blame the receptionists and I have received a small refund on both occasions. will now take my pet elsewhere for treatment

  • Danielle (Munchkin)

I would like to thank you again for helping my mother in laws little Yorkshire terrier out. They were visiting us and Charlie had become very unwell. And without the help of your wonderful vet and the onwards help given. We wouldn't want to think what may have been or what could have happened. You are a truly amazing people. Thank you. Richard, Danielle and Liz. And of course Charlie

  • Patricia Goodall

The receptionists were very pleasant and welcoming. The waiting room was nice and clean and I felt safe in there. The vet listened to my concerns about my cat and genuinely seemed to care about her. She explained everything to me in a way I could understand. I feel my precious cat is safe in their hands I came away from the surgery feeling much happier than when I arrived there.

So kind and considerate vet this morning took time to explain my cat would be better been put to sleep rather than suffering was so kind and patient throughout the whole process thank you so much for been kind and patient towards my baby although feel devastated also feel relief that she is not suffering and had such a calm last few moments of her life x

These are a great vets compassionate understanding and lovely they took great care of us especially when we had our beloved molly put to sleep our other dog alfie recently visited beechwood and they were fantastic even though he was being vocal alfie loves going if he has to, the staff are all great friendly and helpful would highly recommend them

  • Charlotte Proud

Appalled at the service and lack of organisation from this vets. Too many mistakes been made, give my dog a wrong injection, given someone elses post op form for my pregnant cat, not given the aftercare information needed which cased swelling of my cats leg, Absolute disgrace. Avoid! 1 star only for the neatness of the operation wound!

  • Dean Read

Very professional and friendly vets. We were kept well informed of progress during the day (our Yorkshire terrier Radley was in for a possible heart condition and fits). We were treated as a valued client, caring and well informed staff made a difficult time quite a bit less stressful than it could of been, many thanks to all.

  • Gary Worthington

Always treat my mutts with care and attention. I take my 3 dogs here at least once a year and they always get top notch treatment, the vets taking time to understand each animal and make sure they leave the practice in tip top condition. Multiple surgery locations make getting an appointment a dodddle

  • Lynn Martin

I highly recommend Beechwood Veterinary practice in Crossgates! The reception staff are so nice and a cheerful welcome is always there. Max’s Vet looks after him well, I am deaf and she makes sure I understand all Max’s needs, thank you for going that extra mile with your excellent service.

Visited Crossgates surgery, staff very friendly and professional. Although the rooms are showing their age, everything looked clean and smelt fresh. It was also nice and peaceful as we were the only customers in that timeslot.

  • Tony Joyce

Poor service from counter staff, dog still not cured after last two visits over a six month period, very exspensive too,i won't be going back again since finding a very good and friendly vet and would not advise beechwood.

  • cherryhead

Great vets (although it's the only one I've ever used). Convenient evening appointments if you need them and understanding staff (for when your cat figures out where they're going and goes AWOL).

  • andrea lally

The receptionist are extremely welcoming and friendly. The vet Caz was fantastic, very thorough n patient sorting out meds for my many animals, all round lovely experience …

  • Holli Morrison

Absolutely awful vets waited 3 weeks for blood tests for my sick dog, and only got them because I asked for them. She had to have emergency surgery and has now passed away

  • Deborah Hunt

Lots of vets who all gave a very good approach to the animals. Conveniently situated with easy parking. Never have a problem booking an appointment for my dog

  • Neil Main

So helpful and caring, and always conscious and non-judgmental that people might want to spend to help their animals but can't afford to in current climate

  • Ami Kilner
