"So many errors, including what I feel is dishonouring the dead! This is what they did to only one individual: 1) Buried her relative under the wrong name! 2) E-mail an incorrect yahrzeit date for the individual's spouse every single year 3) Transformed a sister-in-law into a brother-in-law in in the obituary they submitted to the newspapers 4) In my opinion, Michael Benjamin's attitude after this individual fell and had to be transported to hospital was unconscionable and he continued to make matters worse"
"If I could post this as no stars I would"
"Upon going onto this site to look at obituaries, a message pops up warning people about Covid rules and that you can only attend inside their premises if you are fully vaccinated"
"I want to say thank you to the staff at Benjamin’s"
"Way too many people involved"
So many errors, including what I feel is dishonouring the dead! This is what they did to only one individual: 1) Buried her relative under the wrong name! 2) E-mail an incorrect yahrzeit date for the individual's spouse every single year 3) Transformed a sister-in-law into a brother-in-law in in the obituary they submitted to the newspapers 4) In my opinion, Michael Benjamin's attitude after this individual fell and had to be transported to hospital was unconscionable and he continued to make matters worse. 5) I read that there have been many investigations of Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario and they have been forced by that body to change some of their questionable business practices under substantial threat, including, I believe, loss of license; however, there is still so much room for improvement. Caring (not only about the money), compassion, less sloppiness and errors would be a good start. 6) There are other horrific tales, however I believe that Benjamin's would likely try to deny them all.
If I could post this as no stars I would. At a funeral a couple of weeks ago, I was stunned at the tone and verbiage used by one of the Benjamin's employees to one of the guests. The Benjamin's employee in question was rude, aggressive in his manner and words chosen. He even stormed off in frustration, parting with the words "I'll just go find my supervisor then to deal with this" Be clear, there was no provocation here and no excuse for his behavior. Interestingly, a supervisor never appeared nor were those in question further approached by anyone else from the company. The employee's behavior and tone was more befitting a bouncer at a rock concert. Disgusted by his demeanor and utter disregard for the occasion. If this were my employee and he treated any one of my constituents like this, I would terminate his employment without hesitation.
Upon going onto this site to look at obituaries, a message pops up warning people about Covid rules and that you can only attend inside their premises if you are fully vaccinated. I had asked what happens if a first degree family member is not vaccinated and their response was, "that person can attend at graveside which is outside. Therefore if the service is inside, they could not attend their parent's funeral. Imagine you have passed away and your own child can't attend. They said no exceptions made. Therefore, I would stay away from Benjamin's and give my business to Steeles who does not have this rule. They don't care about extenuating circumstances. Also, their costs are exorbitant ! It's a huge money making business for them and they charge whatever they want, BECAUSE THEY CAN ! Such a shame. Stay away !!
I want to say thank you to the staff at Benjamin’s. As a fellow funeral director I had some special requests for them in serving a family. Especially during this pandemic it would be easy to understand if they could not meet our needs. Instead they accommodated all of our requests and gave me every courtesy I could imagine. From first contact with Jacqueline Shnayderman I knew this family was in good hands. Angelena Nadajewski was incredibly compassionate and worked hard to achieve the families wishes. Sam Nash was a consummate professional at the graveside service and extended every conceivable courtesy to the family. Thank you all for going above and beyond in your service and making that day as special as it was.
Way too many people involved. No one point of contact. The morning of the funeral they called to tell me we either had to move up the time or pay for overtime at the cemetery. So we had to make calls to let those attending know of the time change. They should have paid the extra cost themselves and not bothered us at this already difficult time. Not professional.
We had an added complication of burying my Mother in another city but wanting to do eulogies in Toronto so people didnt have to drive for hours to stand graveside. Everything was handled professionally and with tact and sensitivity. Yes it was expensive but I will be using them again when the time comes. Their Post Funeral Checklist has been very helpful.
I understand they lost my friends fathers video for his wife to view as she is in s nursing home and couldnt attend funeral . Devastating in less than 48 hours . The costs were out of line, and up sell on the view finder despicable. No I would not use these people ever.
Thank you to the amazing folks at Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel! They made the service seamless, and everything leading up to it so easy, manageable and respectful for my family. I can understand why they have been such a crucial part of Toronto for so many years.
how can a funeral home lose a graveside video especially at this time of limited attendance ? Well Benjamins did . How traumatic for the grieving family especially those unable to participate. It is inconceivable that they could be so careless
Benjamin’s was a great comfort during a tough time. They were prompt and respectful during my mother’s passing and made everything very easy for me. I will never forget. Thank you
10% surcharge for handling charitable donations is simply a slimy thing to do. They already upcharge at every opportunity in my opinion. Take your business elsewhere.
Have been many times. However this review is based on Google ASSUMING I WAS THERE RECENTLY. I was not I only looked up the #.
From beginning to the end the Benjamin family took care of every detail perfectly.I can not thank them enough. t
I wonder how many previous customers are unaware of the 10% “administrative fee” on donations.
