I was a former student from Berala Public School, it was good. I don’t remember a lot since I left in year 2. The teachers were decently kind and caring. I’m sorry if I offend anyone, but I don’t remember a principal named Mr. Stelzer., but from what I read, he was a great guy. When I was here, the Year 6’s would welcome the juniors to play with them, and that’s a really great feat since nowadays kids just isolate themselves. I read that everything went downhill fast when the new principal came because she brought in tech. I can’t say much about that since I left this school, so I just want to say that maybe she was trying to do something nice? There is this one teacher who I remember vividly and it was Miss. Clarke. (I’m not sure how to spell her name, apologies). She was my kindergarten teacher and she was really nice to me. The library at this school is alright. There is quite a selection of books there. The students at this school were strange, they made rumours about a door. The computer room is really brilliant, from what my memory says, there was a green screen in the computer room; that was really fun! There are a lot of computers there. The fake grass is (in my opinion) great, since I’m terrified of ants and little insects in the grass. There was a huge tree in the middle of the playground and benches were on each side. I don’t remember if Berala Public School had handball courts, but if they didn’t - that’s terrible. What I do remember if that the whole school did stretches at assemblies! That was enjoyable. (I don’t know if they still do it now, but it was relaxing to do stretches).
I may have liked this school when I was in Kindergarten to Year 3, but it got worse when Mr Stelzer had officially retired. With the new principal here, the school was all about 'technology' and 'fun', and even kids from Kindergarten there right now aren't learning much. My tutoring teacher says kids there, like Kindergarten to Year 2, CAN'T EVEN GET ABOVE 40% in her tests! Oh, and Year 5 and Year 6 classes mix? That was absolutely dumb, I tell you. The Year 6's there were learning literally nothing but rather the same thing they learnt from Year 5! I hope this school becomes better later... But I doubt that.
I've been to this school since 2016 and honestly this has got to be one of the best schools in NSW. Berala PS has had so many wonderful excursions and programs. Gardening club, band and chess are other best programs I've ever attended. I've made so many friends and the learning environment is amazing. They could improve on the toilets and homework, but in conclusion, this school has given me the best memories and this is the best school in NSW. Also, shout out to Ms Tran, Ms Craven, Mr Sandwell, Ms Charrouf, Ms Johnstone and Ms Bell. Best teachers ever.
The school failed to deal with injustice in my time there. An instance where two children were blatantly throwing rocks at each other during assembly, I was a bystander, eventually one got hurt. When asked who did it, I was picked for some reason. Sent to detention and forever traumatized. Till this day, when an injustice occurs around me I take on the role as a lawyer. I never let things go anymore. The teacher responsible for this was Mr. Fisher. The school itself is nice. We had a lot of subjects. A few good excursions.
As a former student of the school, I am disappointed at the education here. The racism and bullying is ignored in the school as well. The education is terrible, and we were being taught almost nothing on a daily basis. A male teacher, who had taught the class I was in for 2017, was terrible. He did not help students with anything and would not pay attention to the class. The racism and bullying in the school is horrible, I was bullied my whole time there and the teachers just ignored it. This place was literal hell.
As a former student of the school, I am highly disgusted at what the school has become. Things have already been going downhill from the principle change when I was in year 6, and teachers have no control over the kids who have gone rogue. No homework was ever given when I was still there nor was there any given ever since I have left. Bullying is still common according to some friends that have not entered high school yet. Honestly, just go and find another school in the area to enroll into.
This school has been on the decline since Mr Stelzer retired (Ex Principal). Students are poorly behaved and their actions go unpunished, they get away with way too much. Year 6 Mathematics & English is not up to standard and doesn't prepare kids for high school well enough. I'm glad that my kids only have to endure another 6 months of Berala Public School before they leave. It was a poor decision on my behalf to send my kids to this school.
0 stars for me to be honest my daughter was bullied and I told the principle and teachers and they did nothing and she learnt absolutely nothing , wasn't given homework or any books to read !! One time i was running late to pick her from school and the teachers threatened to call the police next time wth i was shocked, Im glad im taking her out and enrolling her into a new school this year , worst school ever .
I went to Berala Public School from 1955 to 1962 and was in 6th class when the first coeducational class, just 8 girls plus 30+ boys. At that time teachers were feared or respected and there was very little multicultural influence. I found it to be good, although many photos here are all but unrecognisable, including the absence of milk crates or the coal bunker used for heating in winter.
I have two grandchildren going to this school and I have to say it's failing them as well as the rest of the students. Their sports day was a complete mess with multiple injuries and so badly run, I could not believe it. The education standards seems quite low and children are being severely bullied and the teachers do not seem to be concerned. This school is very poorly run.
The education is pretty bipolar, and the teachers have absolute no control over the students and their behavior. The schools educations uses a lot of repetition and students barely learn anything new. In conclusion I personally think that Berala public school has the potential to become a better school
As a former student, the school looked like a good place to learn a lot. The teachers are all ready to teach and nice to students but don't teach the children that much. **also the canteen is too expensive**
A well known school with about 800 students The school has grown over the years and most of the land have been used to build new classrooms to accommodate increase of students.
If I can give it 0 star I would. This school used to be good under Mr. Stelzer management. The new principle is making the school worse!
I used to go to this school and i would always get bullied and the teachers didn't even care about it
good school no bullying , all most all cultures, free to be yourself.
