Just bought my second mountain bike (Fatbike) from BW and some 27+ carbon rims for my other bike, great advice and deal; exactly what I needed. I've dealt with Paul at BW for 20 yrs, he is always supportive and ensures you're making the right choice in equipment based on your needs and wants. He won't oversell and ensures you are satisfied with your purchases. Since he and his staff ride various bike types and several times per week all year round, you can be sure the advice is sound and factual. As a testament to his support and customer service, today on my first ride with the new Fatbike, he drove out to repair my chain after it broke unexpectedly. He also organizes a weekly group mountain bike ride for all skill levels, so you can learn the local trails and sometimes test a demo bike. Thanks Bicycle Works! Keep riding! 3/30/18 - a follow up to the Carbon Fatboy I bought last year - great recommendation! I was able to ride more this winter considering the added traction on the snow and frozen terrain the fat tires provide. A great addition to my fleet of bikes. - lots of fun. Also the 27+ rims were also a great recommendation, rock and root climbing capability with great cornering. Thanks again Paul!!
Went there to put a down payment on a bike they told me was available to order from Kona. I drive from Hamilton and get there. This kid working there and he didn't want to take my deposit because he was too lazy to check for availability. Instead he tries to push a different bike on me that they had in stock. I tell him I'd rather go with the bike I came there to order. Told him I want to put a deposit on it so it can be ordered, he tells me "he needs to help other customers" and takes my name and number down. Doesn't bother to call me. I call back and now the bike I wanted is out of stock. Talked to somebody else there and they told me I'm out of luck. I went here because of the good reviews but their customer service was terrible. Maybe they're good to their friends and people that go in all the time but they treated me like crap. Places like this give bike shops a bad name. *Oddly enough I just called The Bike Zone and magically Kona seems to have the bike I wanted in stock and they can order it in no problems. So Bicycle Works bare faced lied to me. - Bernard Barwell
Bicycle works, the only place to buy/service your bike. My dad found this shop years ago when starting his search for a new mtb. After visiting many shops, the staff at bicycle works stood out the most. Paul, Jim and the crew at BW are extremely knowledgeable, qualified, humble, great guys that will take the time to match you with your dream bike. After approximately 15 bikes we can still say the same thing today.... these guys are fantastic and I can’t say enough good about them. Not only are you buying a fantastic bike, along with that comes amazing customer service and friendships that last a life time. We will be buying many more bikes in the future. We recommend this shop to all friends and family! Thanks guys. Keep up the great work. One of my favourite places around!! -Matt Silvestri
To make a long story short, if your a friend of Paul's, or a friend of a friend of Paul's then this is the place for you. Or if your a local resident of the small town of Waterdown then it might work out better as with all the positive reviews. Otherwise i'd steer clear, better options out there for Kona's which is what led me there in the first place. They seem very apprehensive of new customers, and offer zero deals or incentives even if your dropping 2 grand on a bike. extra 10% nope, extra water bottle nope, a fridge magnet nope. Did get a receipt though.
Cannot say enough good things about Bicycle Works. I bought my Kona Stuff from here when I was 14 and after the bike was stolen in '18, I wanted to give Paul the business again 20 years later. Due to pandemic supply constraints, it took 1 year (to within the week) after first calling looking for a Kahuna in July of '20. But with touching base a few times a month and Paul keeping his word, I finally got the call a few days ago. Now I've just got back from really putting it through it's paces for the first time and could not be a more satisfied customer.
Sorry this is a little late.... bought a Kona Kahuna a few weeks ago and I think we found our bike shop! It's been a different experience shopping for a new mountain bike in these times and the staff at BW were awesome. They were laid back, personable, helpful all while following the proper measures for retail during this time. I've called back and received great service on the phone and again in store. We will now go to BW for all our cycling needs... thanks : ) Ride on guys!!
Customer service I have ever experienced let me tell you something young people have money as well and when they come into your store asking questions you better act like you want to work there because coming from someone who works in the sales industry I know what it means to treat a customer right when they're looking to spend upwards of thousands of dollars in your store towards a bike would never recommend this place to anyone
Young fellow took his time showing me a variety of gravel grinder bikes, test driving them, and answering questions I had as a newb. We were shocked to find stock after visiting a handful of shops around Cambridge & Hamilton. Down to earth and not too intimidating or snobby like some shops. Thanks Bicycle Works. I had it out that afternoon on trail and it was so much fun. Highly recommended!
Hands down the best bike shop in the area. Passionate about cycling and passionate about customer service, friendly, unpretentious, and accommodating. They don't just sell bikes they ride them too...road, CX, Mountain, and downhill. If you're not sure, come in for a chat and get your questions answered...you will leave with your questions answered, on a bike that is right for you.
My husband and I came in looking for some new mountain bikes. We had Paul helping us who was very friendly and informative he made sure we were happy with our purchase and that we had everything we needed to go with the bikes. He also helped show us how to put the bike rack on the car and the bikes onto the rack which we really appreciated. Great shopping experience thank you!
These guys know Fat Bikes. Ran into an issue with my Bluto collapsing, after a quick call they suggested I bring the bike in the next day. Took the bike in this morning and was riding this afternoon with a fresh set of seals, a lower weight oil to handle the cold temperatures, and a rebuild. Works like a charm. Thanks for the quick, efficient service.
Paul and his team have been very supportive of my cycling needs. Everything from the purchase of my bike, maintenance of the bike, providing accessories from Helmet, tires, shoes, shorts, hydration fuel. It is your one stop bike shop. I have never had a bad experience at this shop. I support local whenever I can, bicycle works makes it easy.
Bicycle Works is the only shop we will go to because they are so loyal to their customers and have the best service around! With online shopping it is even more important to support our local economy to make sure they are still there when you require the much-need service piece that online shops can't provide. That and they make us laugh!!
Was new to the area and Paul and his team have treated my wife and I like gold over the past several years. I will continue to recommend and use the shop for all my bicycle needs. Paul and other staff have been friendly and knowledgeable while giving advice which often reduces their bottom line but keeps me coming back. Thanks.
Good shop, great selection but...... customer service could be better. Person on front desk was friendly and nice, and opposite, guy, who does repair, was contemptuous and snobby. It is second time my husband attended this shop, and second time he has this experience. Don't think it will be third time. Helena
I purchased a Kona this past week from Bicycle Works. Great price and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly! They have always taken the time to answer my questions and make me feel comfortable on the bike that suits me. I would recommend buying from Bicycle Works. Thanks Paul and crew!
Such a great bike shop that shockingly had stock in the midst of COVID. Good safety measures in place and really friendly and knowledgeable staff! I was able to do a test and get my brand new Kona Rove on the road all within 20 mins! Definitely worth driving down to Waterdown!
Bought two road bikes from Paul. Very satisfied, excellent customer service. Extremely knowledgeable and takes care of his customers. Would highly recommend anyone buying a bike to visit bicycle works. We drive from out of town to deal with Paul and his awesome team!
Was in the market for a e-mtn bike, most shops wouldn’t return my call or have any available bikes to try, BW invited me down to try one of theirs and then took the time to source me a bike and make it all happen. I’m sure this won’t be my last bike from BW !
Thank you for your professional and caring attitude and expertise in repairing my Turbo Levo ! Your no nonsense approach with no drama is refreshing! Thanks again Jim you have a new customer for service and purchasing my next set of wheels Stay well guys !
Incredibly happy with my recent bike purchase at Bicycle Works. Paul and his team we're incredibly professional and friendly. Its a great feeling knowing your supporting a local business who also gives so much to the local cycling community.
Paul is a one of the best bike shop owners, not to mention shop owners in general, that I have come across in a long time. He says it how it is and doesn't B.S.... something that is be coming hard to find in the cycling community. As a
Would highly recommend this place. Got my bike fixed here few days ago and the owner was super helpful and friendly, he even tuned my gears and did a great job with that. Very fast turn around too. Definitely going back there again.
Staff was very helpful in making sure I got the right products for my bike. They took the time to look at options with me, order what I needed, and make sure it was mounted correctly. Thank-you so much for your help!
Been purchasing bikes from Paul for over 15 years. Just picked up a Kona Libre on Paul's recommendation. What a great bike! Thanks Paul and Jim for setting it up. Go see the team at Bicycle Works, they are the best!
Paul and his team are helpful and patient to your needs . They are very knowledgeable, kind and easy to deal with. They walk the extra mile with you just to treat you right. Thanks Paul- I will definitely be back.
purchased 3 bikes from here Good support and help. Fair assessment of what bike you need, instead of just selling you the most expensive unit because that's all that is on hand during a pandemic. Will be back.
Knowledgeable, helpful, and polite -- even for casual riders despite how busy things are this summer. The storefront and shop are clean and their service department does good work. Great experience.
I have purchased my last 3 bikes from Bicycleworks. Their knowledgeable staff have always helped ensure that I purchase the correct bike for my riding style. I wouldn't buy a bike anywhere else.
Great bike shop! Answered all the questions I had about getting a new bike and even wanted to throw in some extra stuff to get me to buy it that day. If I wasn't so broke, I probable would have!
Exceptional customer service. Every time! I drive 45 minutes to come here and It's worth it. Paul is a knowledgeable bike guy (so are the mechanics) and a good businessman. Buy with confidence!
Paul is a great person an a great rider. Understands the business an people. Knows bicycle an is great mechanic. James is also great guy. Recommend this shop to anyone looking for a bike.
Had a great experience this morning! We drove down from KW. Joe did an excellent job explaining things to beginners and we walked away with 2 new Kona Rove's. Very happy customers!
I'm a big supporter of supporting small, local business however the owner of this business has on more than one occasion come across as angry and rude. No interest. Go elsewhere.
The guys are always knowledgeable and helpful. I bought my first mountain bike and its accessories there. And I look forward to joining their group trail rides again this summer.
Bought a bicycle on the specialized website for “ click and collect” and Paul assembled it. He was extremely helpful with any questions I had. Very great experience!
Got a great deal on a 2020 Specialized Stumpjumper 29er, the bike was ordered with no deposit either. Great shop with experienced riders as shop mechanics.
Paul and his team offer the best professional advice and service in the area. This should be everyone's first stop when considering a new bike.
Awesome customer service super helpful over the phone. Mechanic fixed my wheel quickly got me fixed up ready for the next ride in 20 minutes
