The latest addition to the original Richardson Bike Mart, The Trinity Trails Bike Mart boasts the same high level of competency in bike maintenance and repair as their mothership at Coit and Campbell Road in Richardson/Plano. I lived in Houston for 30 years but would still drive 5 hours to see my Bike Mart wrenches for high performance cycling and tandem cycling needs. Some bike components/designs are rare enough that you simply can't take them to just any mechanic. On top of that Bike Mart has enough critical mass amongst locations that if they have a problem they aren't familiar with, they can find someone who is. There is not a bike shop company I could more highly recommend in North American than the Bike Mart stores in DFW and I was thrilled when they took over this location from another less experienced competitor (who tried to send me and a bike to Houston for repair). I have worked with them for over 30 years. If you are unhappy with them, you either don't understand your bike, the supply chain, or the global economy anyway, and no one will make you happy. Bike Mart KNOWS your bike. (I've even seen them do simple assessments and adjustments for walkups at no charge, but don't tell anyone I mentioned that.)

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience with Mellow Johnny's. It is unfortunate that the manufacturer (BMC) had to be contacted to get truthful information and resolve an issue that your employees were incapable of handling. When a customer asks a question several times because he continues to get conflicting information, an employee should not reply with "I've already told you 3 times." And nothing says enjoy your brand new 6k mountain bike like a creaky bottom brack with absolutely no grease. I will NEVER step foot in this shop again even to buy a pair of socks! Oh and save the canned response. Update: Thank you for your response, Woody! I've been back several times since Bike Mart acquired MJs and have been very pleased with the service. Aubry and Kelly provided great service to my bike and exceptional customer service. Always had a great experience as a customer of your Richardson location and I look forward to bringing my bikes in for service in the future.

After much research I finally decided to purchase my bike here. I am relatively new to biking and was looking for a comfortable hybrid. Kyle was super helpful in helping me make a decision. He was very patient and answered all of my questions (there were a lot). He was also very honest and straight forward, and I feel like I learned more from talking to him and some of the other guys in the shop than I did from hours of online research. It can be very intimidating to start looking at bikes, as there are a lot of different types with multiple components. Everyone at Mellow Johnny's is knowledgeable and really helped point me in the right direction. Even better, the shop is located right off of the Trinity River Trail System, so it is super easy to test out bikes properly without fear of cars being around you. You can take the bike right onto the trail, no testing bikes inside a store or in a parking lot. Highly recommend.

I've been meaning to provide this review for a couple months but have a crazy travel schedule. With that, I find myself in a different state every week across the U.S. for my job and the only way to stay on the road or trails as an avid cyclists is to find a local bike shop and rent each week. I happened to find this shop during my week in Ft. Worth. I met with the shop manager and employees who outfitted me with a great road bike, fitting, and directions and explanation of local rides. They also invited me on a couple shop rides but unfortunately my work schedule got in the way of that. Bottom line this shop provided exceptional and friendly service that was as good as any and better than most across the country to an out of towner. If I lived local they'd have my regular business and if I return for work they will have it again.

During a gravel ride this morning I'd forgotten my helmet and I'd heard that the previous shop had changed hands hoping for some improvement in customer service, arrived in store some gentleman standing at the counter I don't know who he was didn't even say hi ,didn't acknowledge my buddy and I. Not that he was there to roll out the red carpet but basic pleasantries is usually a place to start. (Well just like the other shop) it's unfortunate the reviews online were good but this is just my opinion take with a grain of salt hopefully this is helpful. FYI ended up going to REI on my ride and even though they're a big box store at least they cared enough to ask me if I needed anything and check in on me just basic customer service stuff. If you can't get that right I struggle to justify spending my hard-earned money there.

Great experience!! Visited Fort Worth from Florida for the weekend with my son. Called them to get some clarification on the bikes they rented, but used their website to make and pay for the mountain bike reservations. Picked up the bikes & helmets...they even gave us 2 repair kits just to be safe (which we didn't need)...and the drop off process the next morning was just as simple and easy going. More importantly, the mountain bikes were great Specialized bikes...more bike then we expected...double shocks, disc brakes, light aluminum frames, etc... You get the idea. They handled the hills and rocks of the toughest trails we could find in Dinosaur Valley State Park! Thanks for making our weekend so much fun! Definitely going to make getting bikes from them a part of our future trips to the DFW area.

I made an appointment with Mellow Johnny's about 3 weeks ago to put my bike together that I received on Amazon. They put my bike together and I didn't see any problems until I saw my friend's bike (who has the exact same bike) the shop forgot to put all of my reflectors on and also did not secure parts of my bicycle. My handle bars are so loose they will not properly turn my front wheel and it is currently unusable. They also left my mud guards so loose that they move left to right with every bump. I now will be finding another shop to fix their mistakes. I had such high hopes because my friend's bike was put together very well at this shop. I guess it depends on who is assigned to put your bike together. Very disappointed.

So I was riding on the trinity trails today with my bike Club. The 1.25 inch bolt that holds my saddle to my seat post snapped in half. My seat fell off and I had to ride a couple of miles with no saddle to Mellow Johnny's. When I got there I showed what happened and after a half hour they told me they didn't have a bolt to temporarily hold my saddle in place to get me to my car. I had to ride 15 miles standing up because they didn't have the ability to square me any. Mind you I wasn't looking for free service, but I wasn't about to buy a $200 seat post for a $2.59 M8 bolt! Thanks for the professional service, I'll make sure no one in my bike club use your shop...ever!

I had issues with my bike lever called ahead and spoke to a Bike Mechanic, expressed my concerns and he gave me some valid advice. I decided to try them out and they exceeded my expectations! The employees were friendly and outgoing. Turns out my bike lever was a recall so nothing out of pocket for me. They did have my bike for a week waiting on parts and let me borrow a loaner so I could still ride on the weekend with my friends. When I brought the bike back my bike was complete with new levers put on. The customer service was so great that I went ahead and purchased a new helmet and some Fox gloves. I highly recommend them!

I really wanted to give this place a chance since they receive such great reviews, however I felt like they were very short with me over the phone and in person. Maybe I didn't fit their typical customer profile by the way I was dressed when I visited, but they acted as if I was a bother to them with the questions I had and they seemed put out by having to talk to me. Not the experience a new cyclist wants to have when trying to get help. There are plenty of other truly "mellow" bike shops in FW. This place definitely didn't fit their name. Next time I go I'll dress nicer and I'm certain to get treated better. Shame.

I brought my 20 year old Cannondale in to have a broken cassette replaced. They said it would be a week or so before I would get it back. Knowing how these things always seem to go, I expected two weeks. I stopped in one week to the day later and the bike was up on the stand. I was told they were just finishing it up and to hang out a few minutes and I could take it. I was happy to see the accurate timeline. Each time I was there, the employees were super friendly, and chatty. Mellow Johnnie's is my new favorite bike shop. Love the location as well. Super convenient for biking to.

I’ll never spend one cent of my hard earned money at this establishment. I walked in looking to make a sizable purchase for a bike. I walked in with a mask as noted on the front entrance. Not a single associate said a word. Although they stared at me then looked away. I even walked slowly by the desk area, the associate looked my way then quickly turned the other direction. Then another gentleman walks in and 2 associates stand up and ask if he needed service. Not ONE SINGLE TIME did an associate utter a word to me. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

  • Seth Stewart

I went in there to rent a bike and this had not been the first time I had rented from them. The gentlemen takes my identification and proceeds to inform me that I am restricted from renting a bicycle at this establishment due to "destruction of bikes". I thought to myself "This must be a lame attempt at wit or sarcasm". But alas it was not. I had been betrayed by those who I believed would be there when I needed them to rent me a fine method of mechanical transportation. So all things considered. They ight.

I can’t believe this store is associated with the Austin location. Apart from the MJ clothing and the sign everything else is so different. Austin location treats you with respect and are very helpful. Every time I have walked into the Fort Worth location, the employees are very short with you and act like the could care less about earning your business. I have had two major issues with FW MJ location but will not go into details.

  • Kellan Parker

Phoned before coming in. I like it when business answers my call with a Thank you for calling. Know that I will have a great experience. Came in and was greeted by Reed. He helped me pick the perfect first bike I could ask for. He was informative, helpful and nice as well. Definitely recommend Reed if you were to expect good customer service. Took my new bike for the first ride and that felt great! Thank you very much!

I have used bike maintenance services at Bike Mart Clearfork and have had great experiences. I just purchased my first bike (Specialized Globe Haul ST) from Bike Mart and worked with Celso P. and he and team have been incredible! I am so happy I purchased the bike from Bike Mart instead of purchasing it directly from the manufacturer. I am thankful for the team at Bike Mart and Erik and Celso have been so helpful!

  • 50Calx2

A year ago I bought a new Specialized Rockhopper bike from this store and all was good, today I called to ask if they could help me find out something about another Specialized bike I own and his answer was “I’m not going to use my resources on something like that”, all I needed was to help me determine the submodel of my bike. I guess customer retention is something they dont care about.

  • Parker

The inventory, the staff and the over all feel of this shop is superb. You can tell the employees enjoy their jobs and the interactions they have with the customers. Anytime I've had an issue or question the staff have gone above and beyond to help me out. If you're looking for a LBS that you can trust to always have your back, look no further. Mellow Johnny's is where it's at!

  • Russell Bainbridge

I have come here a few times and I have always been happy with the service. Never pushy and always willing to help. I haven’t had my bike serviced here though, so I can speak on the mechanics. I did go in once and asked to buy a box to ship a wheel in and they gave me a old box one of their wheels came in with the packaging free of charge. To me that is a great shop.

  • Austin Craver

My first experience with the highly knowledgeable staff was via a quick phone call. I'm a novice bicyclist and has several beginner questions. They set my mind at ease and when the call ended, I felt considerably more well informed. If you have any questions, I am confident that a quick phone call will guide you to the answers you need.

  • Martin Bate

Friendly staff, but I came here to get a bike helmet over a month ago and still haven’t gotten it. First one they ordered was too small, so they had to put in an order for a size up. Zero communication or updates on the order, super slow. Wouldn’t recommend ordering anything through them, only buying what’s actually in stock.

  • Living In Clip

What a great buying experience I had. James was exceptional in pairing me with the exact bike that fit my needs ( a bike I was purchasing in order to "get the girl") without matching me with something that was beyond my aptitude or price range. Service was congenial, kind and comprehensive, right down to the water bottle.

  • James Henry

I took my bike to get serviced here today, and the customer service was good and store was nice. People at the desk were polite. I was a little apprehensive when I saw the bad reviews until I realized most were written in the past few days and were politically motivated, probably by people who haven't been to the store.

  • Derek Nutt

I was the only one in the store with 6 employees standing behind the counter on the computer looking up cars online and not a single person asked if I needed help or even acknowledge I was walking around in the store after I pasted them multiple times. I guess car are more important than bike customers …

  • Robert Kisselburgh

Great bike shop. I took my bike in on a Sunday morning to get both tires repaired. They did the repairs right then and we left with my bike after only 20 minutes. And the price was very reasonable. Top notch repair service, professional staff and a great experience. They are now our go-to bike shop.

  • david hafer

Kyle was my salesman and was terrific. He walked me through the different trims of the bike I wanted and made sure I got what I needed. The diverge is epic and special ordered in my size. They even set me up with a great rental until mine arrives. So great my buddies bought a bike as well.

  • Phoenix Samurai

I have taken my fixie to 3 different shops in the DFW area and none of them have fixed my problem. One morning at Mellow Johnny's not only was it fixed I was friendly and they helped me out with the price as well.... now it’s the only place I trust. Great shop, and friendly service.

  • Harry Tomlinson

I went in to redeem a gift card purchased when it was still Mello Johnny’s. Told as of November 15 these are no longer valid. Not understanding the logic of ceasing to honor these? It’s a small gesture that could built new customer loyalty. Disappointed at this business practice.

  • L Harris

Mellow Johnny’s is the quintessential modern cycling shop! The service and expertise are phenomenal! High quality merchandise fills the shop. They are very service oriented and want to help you in any way they can. We highly recommend this fantastic cycling shop!! Hayden & Linda

  • Mike Mills

I got my bike home from a hub overhaul today, 2 days earlier than promised. I can't believe how freely my rear wheel spins now (well, a bearing was seized after all). But what I really wanted to say was thank you for always taking good care of me and my bikes. You guys rock.

  • Dan S

I stopped in Monday 2/15/16 to buy some chain lubricant. The guys behind the counter went out of their way to help me get the chain lubed up, checked my shifters and answered all my questions. One of the best customer experiences that I've had. I highly recommend this place.

  • Robert Juarez

Great place. Helpful people. They let me try out some bikes. They let me ride them in the parking lot and trail. Told them my needs and they pulled another bike that worked better for me and it was even more affordable. They told me to stop in for a tune up at no charge.

  • Erik Peterson

Flat tire. Board shorts and shoes only. No wallet. They fixed my tire immediately and let me come back to pay. Stand up guys in Fort Worth. Sorry REI. You would have blamed the flat tire on me then told me it will take a week to fix. Thanks for the help fort worth.

  • Dave Hein

Absolutely the best customer service in the bicycle industry hands down. They are focused on their customers, working with you and giving 100% of their attention no matter if you are buying a water bottle or a new bike they treat you the same and it's amazing!

  • Enjoy Life

Several months back my wife and I bought a couple of bikes from them ( I believe we were the first bike sale for that store) customer service was Awsome and they took the time to answer all of our questions.... Some cool folks work there....

  • Joe White

My all time favorite bike shop. The staff makes everyone feel important whether you're buying a $8,000 s-works bike, or an entry level Rockhopper. It's no longer our local shop but we still go here when we need work done, or a tune up.

  • J.Scott Moose

Ideal location on the Trinity Bike Trail. Specializing in Specialized, this bike shop is top notch. The friendly capable staff knows their product. The mechanics don't play. They are serious and fix your bike correctly the first time.

  • José Carrión

This ship has a very loose interpretation of the word "reservation". They have no qualms about selling a bike you specifically ordered through them to someone else (and not even calling to let you know, after having you wait for it).

  • Nick Eugenio

Steven helped me purchase a new bike for my God Daughter and I couldn't be happier with the entire experience. PLUS he has the best prices on bikes and accessories. Great shop and really NICE guys! I'll definitely be back!

  • Ross Taylor

I didnt buy a bike cause im still shopping but William was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and helpful in giving me detailed information about what kind of full suspension MB might fit my needs and wants.

  • Sean Butler

I took them a major headache for a project and Rigo was courteous and my functional suggestion to get the job done. Then today I bought in my main bike for a bit of TLC Rigo handled it like a champ...

  • Matthew Pallone

My bike tire had a leak so I stopped by Bike Mart. They were able to fix it on the spot and did not overcharge. Very thorough and answered all my questions. Will be returning in the future!
