I had been a customer of this shop for 3 years. This year alone, I spent over £150 at this shop getting a bike serviced and bought various accessories. I recently bought a new bike from an online shop. I took the bike in to Bike Trax, hoping they could offer some advice and double-check the bike. When I told the man in glasses I bought the bike online, he immediately made me feel guilty by saying "the bike was not put together properly" and hence needs to be serviced for £50. He also said: "the saddle needs to be adjusted so it's safe to ride." This to me is non-sense, because I have changed saddles myself before and I know how easy that is. Later I found that Halfords does a 20-point new bike check for only £15. Then I asked to see some mountain bike pedals to replace the clipped ones that came with the bike. He tried to sell me these pedals with studs on them. After I told him I don't want studs as they can damage the shoes, he became very annoyed and said: "Leave, go away, we don't want you here." I was shocked by this rude, appalling behaviour from a shop assistant. I have two bikes, and over the coming years could spend double the money to get them serviced at his shop. But instead of gaining my trust, helping me with my new bike, he made me feel guilty and unwanted. To me, this is **stupid** customer service. In fact, no service at all but rudeness intended to drive away customers. I want to support my local bike shop. However, after this awful experience, I will certainly take my business elsewhere.
I went to Wanstead to purchase new bike due to their access all top brand bikes. After internet searching bike reviews for some time my decision was entrenched. I met Martin when I went the store and he could have easily sold me what I thought I needed - and probably up-sold me on specifications! Martin was convinced I should compare and contrast different bikes, and took me out on a demo ride around the local forest. I was able to test different bikes, while he adjusted the ride set up, and played devils advocate with my thought process. This enable me to decide on the right bike, then ordering the right frame size was the next decision as I was between a L and XL. No internet search could answer this question! Martin managed to loan a XL, so I could sit on both the L and XL. The XL was ordered, bike was put together (Which I was able to swap some of the stock parts for upgrades). Yes I could have ordered the bike online, but the service and customer focus on getting the right bike made it both fun experience and saved me a load of money through getting the right model and spec first time rather than ordering the wrong bike, or spending money on future upgrades to get it right! Bike shop run by riders!
Left my bike in for a service before I took part in London to Brighton bike ride. Was supposed to get a call on the Thursday to pick it up, didn't get any call at all despite working from home to be able to. Ended up going in the day before to pick it up. Found out they'd given me a different front wheel to the one I'd agreed to because the other one had "disappeared" but still charged the same price. I was told before the tire i picked would be slightly more expensive but ended up with the cheaper one (only a few pounds but still). Then I got a puncture in the first couple miles of the ride (it's possible it was just a puncture but makes me think it might have been pinched) and then I went to change my tire and realised that I no longer had a quick release bolt on the tire. Fair enough I should have checked but would have been helpful if they had mentioned because I didn't bring a rench with me on the ride so had to walk to a rest stop to get it changed. I've been before, and the staff do know their stuff and are normally nice hence not a bottom rating, but I guess they are extra busy in the summer months and standards might slip.
Hello Tom from BikeTrax here! Just a quick comment re "Wendy Creed" giving us 1 star. This customer came in for a service and I assessed her bike and noted a number of parts were worn, customer was made aware of these parts and agreed to replace them, also I wrote the prices for the parts and the labour on her paperwork and a copy was given to her and the original was attached to bike. When the bike was collected the customer got very angry about the payable amount even though we had agreed on it previously and no more parts were added. Not sure why customer lost it really, it is regrettable that my PART TIME colleague (ie not the manager) was rude to her, but he has to be pushed pretty far to get to that sort reaction! People have bad days sometimes I understand this, and I thought she would pop back in and apologise for her moment of madness, and we could apologise for giving up on the conversation... but nope we get a 1 star review. As a side note the bike was not booked in under the name given by the reviewer.

I've never had such a bad experience as the one recently received whilst servicing my daughters bike in this shop. We also experienced the snobby comments around the make of bike & components when first visiting the shop - 'not a good bike, better off buying one for £500. It's a Decathlon bike so not Olympic level but good enough for a growing teenager. Very poor in terms of customer expectation. Aggressive over the phone when informing us that we would not be able to pick up the bike. Aggressive in the shop when we came collect. As London becomes more and more bike friendly; commuters, doctors, nurses, teachers, delivery services , the need for a service they can rely FOR THEIR WORK without going through the above experience will become more important. I can accept people make mistakes, or things sometimes run over, people have bad days, but the aggression stands out as a red flag. Good at bikes? Maybe, Outstandingly BAD people skills ? From my experience - YES.
So I visited the store today and couldn’t have been more impressed with the service I received. I was excited that, even with the current pandemic, the store had a bike in stock in the size I thought I needed. When sitting on the bike, the member of staff (didn’t get his name) said that it didn’t look right for my height and advised that I got a bigger size. Unfortunately they didn’t have a bigger size so my search for a bike continues (I’m a complete novice in this area). I would have probably brought the bike in the size that websites recommend but thanks to Bike Trax, I’ll be looking to buy a bike from them once they have something in stock which is suitable for me. The guy could have easily sold me the bike and I would have happily purchased it but he was honest, knew his stuff and didn’t feel right about selling a bike to me unless it was right for me. Amazing service and hope to buy from them in the future and support a local business. Thanks.
I would have given a five star review if it weren't for a particular employee here. Most of the staff are very knowledgeable, polite, and effective. They get the work done quickly and efficiently and are always happy to help. There is, however, one young guy working there who is very rude. My wife took her bike in today and was constantly insulted about the quality of her bike. She rides MAYBE 5-10 miles per week. He told her that her bike was rubbish and she needed to get a new one even though it is perfectly serviceable. I can see recommending ONCE that it may be time for an upgrade, but constantly commenting on how 'rubbish' her bike is and trying to flog her a new one goes beyond what is appropriate.
Would rate zero stars if possible. They take on a job without giving a quotation. Then quote a massive price over £200. I told them I'd like to think about it due to not expecting it to be so expensive, will collect the bike back from them, only to find they've already broken the chain off and they say its not refittable so I will have to buy a new one. Then they say they have also gone ahead with a service which I will have to pay £45 for. So I've gone in with a working bike, come out with a bike without a chain and money worse off. Terrible service, don't seem to care for customers, not everyone is in a position to spend £200 just like that. Would not recommend.
I was recommended this bike shop by a work colleague who had a positive experience there recently. I visited the shop in Wanstead and requested a bike fitting which one of the assistant kindly assisted with. He adjusted my stem and recommend a shorter stem for better comfort. He also noticed a safety issue that I had which he also adjusted. The assistant also was able to explain upgrades questions that I needed help with quite comprehensively and without rushing. I got a better understanding of my bike and left feeling very much assured of the service I received without no charge for his time. I will be using this shop in the future.
Several interactions with Biketrax have ended the same way now... I am a reasonably competent bike mechanic so if I call or drop in asking for a specific part I probably know how to fit it. Instead it is insisted that I book my bike in for them to do the work because it's complicated or needs specialist tools. Not only is that not true in some cases, they are so dismissive that they do not bother to ask if I maybe have the said tools! 'Condescending' is the politest language I can use.
Brought my son's bike for repair and they spent a lot of time trying to up sell a brand new bike while my seven year old was present, which is fairly unprofessional. The bike repair, front brake, ended up being £47.50 as he replaced both brake levers. Won't be going back. The repair, done the same day, has worked though hence no less than the three stars. This seems to be a place for bike enthusiasts who like to spend a fortune. Reading other reviews confirms this opinion.
A great bike store and workshop in East London. I used them for the first time several weeks ago to rent a bike for a friend visiting me in London. They got us a nice Trek road bike at a very competitive price and the overall rental experience was great. Today I had my bike serviced at Biketrax and the service was second to none. The guys are helpful, polite and the quality of service is very good. Highly recommended.
"Everyone knows the cost of everything but the value of nothing" These guys are really good. They know their stuff & provide honest advice. Really good to see young guys running a business and being passionate about bikes. I have tried two other bike shops which were cheaper on servicing but I dont think I would go back, as the saying goes u pay peanuts and u get monkeys.. Give them a try you wont be disappointed.
Reasonable selection of bikes of a good standard, and the staff definitely know what they're talking about. BUT, they will definitely let you know as much! Expect to be berated and ridiculed for your choice of bike, etc. I'm an amateur and don't pretend otherwise, but friends that ride at a higher level have had similar experiences. Imagine dealing with computer geeks in a PC shop in the 90s, but with bikes.
I really don't understand the 1 star reviews on here other than that the Internet gives all kinds of random nutters a voice. Just started using this shop. The guys are really friendly and helpful. Replaced a faulty inner tube I bought last week for free, without any quibbles. When I asked about buying a new bike the lad said, why?, nothing wrong with your bike. Now my local bike shop. Would recommend.
I came here to fix my bicycle brakes, they refused to fix it and spent all their time convincing me to get a bike from them worth around £350. Never going back. Plus they ignored me for the first 10 minutes I was in there even though I was the only customer and they were free. They only care about selling expensive bikes to people coming there to fix their old bikes
If you want a folding bike repaired don’t go here. I was told by a not very pleasant “mechanic” that he did not know anything about folding bikes and didn’t carry any spares. The least he could have done was look at it after all the only difference from a normal bike is that it folds. The one star is for the fact that they were open,I repeat, don’t bother going.
Really good friendly service and when I saw the bike I thought it was a new one-it had been cleaned and it sparkled and riding home it felt so good, everything working like a dream after months of slogging around with my gears not working properly I took the bike up at the weekend and it was done on Wednesday and no extras added to the original estimate
Had new drivetrain fitted by another shop who just couldn’t get gears working right. After 4th unsuccessful visit went to Biketrax 12pm today. Explained problem Mark the mechanic put bike STRAIGHT on the rack. Within 10minutes he had fixed the problem bike now shifting like its ready for the World Championships. Thank you biketrax Andy
Great customer service when we came to hire mountain bikes, and the bikes were pretty much brand new. Friendly staff, very reasonably priced (£15 for a half day) and five minutes cycle from the bottom of Epping Forest. Worth figuring out the route in advance if you want to get to the upper bit of the forest as we got a bit lost!
Im a NHS doctor who bought a cheap bicycle online because thats all i can afford at present. This shop refused to help me assemble it as its a cheap bicycle not bought from them. I bet they stand in their back gardens clapping every thusday. Might as well just pat your own backs im afraid. Poor service. Poor phone manners.
Fast, friendly and efficient service! The guys here are very knowledgeable and have a genuine care for bikes and what’s best for yours. I have a BMC Team Machine and it’s running incredibly smooth after my service. I will always support independent bike stores and with the excellent service here, I will continue to do so.
Keep the 'Local Bike Shop' alive!!! I've used BikeTrax several times over the course of the last year for some maintenance & upgrade work on my commuter bike and high- end carbon racing bikes. Great value, great advice.....and will be using them again in 2019 without doubt for some more tweaks and upgrades.
Great little place, open later than the norm. I called ahead to see if they could repair a tyre and were happy to help. Despite having other jobs on, the team fixed it then and there while I waited. Very well priced, knowledgeable and helpful with a wide range of products. Would definately go again. Thanks!
hi Guys I travelled from Loughton Ig10 to your shop as i was impressed with your telephone presences and attitude, i then spoke to Tom who's was equally as helpful and ended up buying a new cassette chain and pedals. will be back for other bits and a new mtb for the new year. highly recommend. regards chris
I just had my bike serviced, great staff, bike now runs smoothly and came back gleaming - thank you! Also I am grateful to one of the guys who noticed my battered and old cycle helmet. I just never got around to replacing it, now have helmet that will actually protect my head, should I ever need it.
A proper local bike shop with knowledgeable and super friendly staff. I've found them to be really helpful with quickly obtaining anything they don't carry in stock and they've always been quick to call before doing anything to my bike that we haven't agreed beforehand. Support your local bike shop!
Extremely friendly and helpful guys. They were quick to sort out my purchase and I couldn't have asked more from them. They went above and beyond what I believe I would get from a more mainstream bike dealer. Will definitely be using them in the future. Would recommend to anyone. Thanks Biketrax!!
Hi Guys, just wanted to say a BIG thank you for fitting me in last Saturday to replace the rear cog and chain on my road bike. Without you guys sorting it out at short notice I wouldn’t have been able to take part in the Ride 100 and raise money for the London Air Ambulance. Neil
What can I say the staff never helpful and always condescending everything in shop is over priced including the work they do on your bike the servicing is terrible and they are upselling all the time will never go back for all repairs I now use E A cycles Romford Rd Manor Park
Friendly and extremely well informed staff. I don’t think there is anything that Tom doesn’t know about bikes. Passionate customer service. Well stocked with top of the range and affordable bikes and accessories. Support your local cycle shop and have a nice chat with Tom.
Brought my bike in 2 weeks ago to get my pedals removed as they were stuck and I didn't have a pedal wrench. I got charged £3 for a 1 minute job which I think wasn't appropriate as for the same service, my local bike shop at Paradise Cycles didn't charge a single penny.
Really great helpfull staff. Fitted my new fork and sorted the tapered conversion. And showed me how to set it up in future while readying it for a ride out!:) Also sorted my new tubless halo wheel. Awesome! Had its first ride today! Loved it!:):):) Ill be back
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. They patched up/repaired my ancient bike (1930s cast iron etc) until it eventually bit the dust, and now I'm riding one of their gorgeous new Dutch-style bikes. Very good service. Amazing shop - please don't ever close.
I don't usually leave reviews, but these guys are great. Super friendly, very knowledgeable, and carried out repair work quickly for a fairly cheap price. Thanks for getting my bike back on the road and keeping me sane during lockdown Biketrax team!
I've been going into Bike Trax for about 5 years now and the guys there are always quick to try and help out and give sound advice. Repairs and servicing is always very competently carried out and well priced IMHO. Very much trusted and valued
Unpleasant experience with the manager who used foul language to me in response to a query I raised. Wish I could say my experience had been as positive as it was on previous occasions. I guess he would rather not have my custom any more.
My new local bike shop which is very fairly priced and efficient. Great value for money. I've had a couple of punctures repaired in under 10 mins and a full service bringing my classic Raleigh Banana back to life after lots of road use.
Great experience at Biketrax today. Staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Gave good advice and even discounted the labour charges as less work was needed than anticipated. Would definitely recommend. Thanks for everything!!
Honestly these guys are the best! After being forced off the road by a hot head, these guys trued my wheel for me even in this busy time. They saved my skin and I owe them all a drink once this is over. Friendly lads, keep pushing!
Brilliant service from my local bike shop. Supplying premium parts and high quality work at very reasonable prices. Martin offered some very useful guidance to repair my road bike, going above and beyond. Highly recommended.
In line with other reviews, staff have a sound knowledge and deliver a good quality of work. However, if an amateur rider be prepared to be almost ridiculed. A fine line between honest advice and a poor customer experience
Really friendly staff, more than happy to help and chat over what they thought the problem with the bike was and an incredibly speedy repair after! Will definitely be going back for any service or repairs in future!
This is the best bike shop in the area, full stop. Don’t waste your time anywhere else. Even for small transactions they have always offered comprehensive advice and they don’t overcharge from my experience.
Always happy to help. Sound advice both on technical matters and value for money of any purchase. The longevity of this shop is indicative of the quality of service. I would definitely recommend them.
Great bike shop...with really friendly and helpful guys working there. I’ve taken both my winter commuter and my high end carbon road bike in for work. They know there stuff. Support your LBS !
Just had my bike serviced at Wanstead and it's like a new bike....smooth and silent. Well looked after by knowledgable and friendly staff. Will definitely be going back. Thanks Tim
This has been a disaster for me I’m afraid. A routine service of by daughter’s Islabike Beinn has been returned with a sizeable and marked dent on the frame. I’m not impressed :(
Really great shop! I've used these guys a few times and they have always been really helpful, friendly and provided a great, knowledgeable service. I no longer go anywhere else.
Mediocre bike shop. Dropped a tubeless wheel last Friday for a repair, requested a cal when it was done. I cal them 3 days later to ask if it was done. Poor customer service.
Bought a bike lock here. It cost around 50 pounds. The staff was kind enough to install it because I dont have tools at home. You can also bring your bike inside the shop.
They are great bunch of bike enthusiasts abs really did a great job on upgrading and bringing my old Raleigh bike to modern times - one of Best bike shops in East London.
Great shop with capable mechanics. They sorted me out with cheap parts which were going spare around the shop when I was in a bind. Couldn't recommend them highly enough.
Captive audience and lack of competition have made them very rude and dismissive. Refused to look at my son's bike as they deemed it "not valuable enough to save".
Great shop! Great staff! Had them install and set up my new fork and front wheel for my beloved mtb. Great service and did a reasonable cost on it:) my place!
I used a bike from here once to go riding in Epping Forest. It was good, the chap in the shop adjusted the seat to my height and whatnot. Friendly bunch.
Took my bike in due to derailer issue. Thankfully the gentlemen fixed it for me there and then. 5 minutes later back on my way. Great service!
Repaired kids bike within half hr. Reasonable cost. Very informative staff. Tons better than halfords and other independents in local area..
Always helpful and friendly. Good level of service and range of products in store, always happy to give advice. A great local bike shop!
Great product, price and service. These guys packaged up and express delivered a lovely Bobin cycle in time for my daughters birthday.
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Great customer service. Nothing is ever a problem. I'm not local but I rarely go anywhere else.
Great local bike shop. Always have everything you need spare parts wise, the staff are very knowledgeable & willing to help.
All staff very knowledgable helpful and repair service very punctual regardless of how many things need to be done.
Really helpful, efficient and reasonable in their pricing. Extremely knowledgeable and much appreciated advice.

Knowledgeable friendly staff, with good and helpful advice. Nice to experience when shopping locally!
Lovely Bike Shop. Staff Very helpful there was some nice Tops on Sale I treat myself buying two.
Could have been a bit more helpful - would have led to a sale and some return custom. Oh well.
They were very helpful and friendly, they fixed my bent rear wheel and made it as good as new
One of the best bike shops local to Epping Forest, they've also started doing bike hire too.
Really friendly and knowledgeable staff, they always try their best to get my bike perfect.
Super helpful and friendly. Were able to fit my new wheels then and there. Great service.
Fantastic shop , greate experience , perfect service . Me , my son and family happy
Knowledge and very helpful, didn't purchase anything due to lack of hybrid bikes.
A proper bike shop, with excellent advice and great service. Fully recommended.
Great service every time! The staff are very friendly and are absolute experts!

Very friendly and helpful staff who genuinely know their trade well.
