Such a peaceful experience over all! There are "unsavory elements" haning around. They are however, easily avoidable. If you enter from the main gate and choose to turn left instead of right most of those "unsavory elements" seem to stay in the right side of the park. They are also few in number. Blessington Park is very well maintained. You can see some ducks and swans in the pod. There are two fountains to enjoy and hopefully the little Cafė is open now from the 19th of July 2021. Coz COVID. There is also an exit to a green structured like a lane with massive trees, benches and grass to enjoy some nature in and calm your soul. I will be frequenting this spot to get some writing done.
The park is small, but it has a children's playground and a basketball/football court. Like the basin, this is a great place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You can almost walk all the way to Phibsborough road without having to cross the road. The basin is a very welcoming 'green' space full of life and away from traffic. Local and migratory birds spend time in the basin, and neighbours walk through or soak up the sun on good days. Well looked after, specially in spring and summer months. The attached pics are from January.
A tranquil urban oasis, it feels like you've stumbled into a secret garden. An old reservoir converted into a large pond, Blessington Basin is lovely to walk around, get away from the noise of the city, enjoy the flowers, watch the ducks, maybe sit and read a book... Only a small little park, but a true hidden gem nonetheless. There's also a longer park walk and playground areas available just outside the basin area.
This small but beautiful pond was a reservoir for Dublin city that supplied homes until 1885, then Powers & Jamesons distilleries until the 1970s. An artificial island has been developed in the centre to create a refuge for the ducks and swans and other birds that use it. It's quite small but here is a lovely fountain and small decorations everywhere to catch the eye.
Lovely little path around a water reservoir with the sound of fountains, quacking of ducks n ducklings. 1 lap of the path is 400m; 5 laps makes 2km; 10 laps-4km. Benches along the path, paintings on the stone walls, little fairy doors, swans in the water, colourful flowering shrubs all around, little bronze sculpture in the walls
Secret garden of aquatic birds complete with island and 3 fountains and a very Quaint Park-Keeper's home. I didn't find a coffee or ice cream (bird food?) shop but there may be one, if not, it could do with one, possibly in conjunction with an "open house" of the beautiful cottage? Of the most serene birthday afternoons ever!
A small park with a big lake and ducks. It is in an area close to the centre but in a peaceful area. A good place for a quick walk and some duck watching. There seems to be a more fancy type of duck than in the St Stephens Green. Unfortunately it has little space to sit or stay for a longer time so it's best for a short walk.
Good place for relax, meeting with friends..this park is small but it doesn't matter, because he has many beautiful flowers, in lake are ducks.....after rainy u can see the rainbow in Fontaines.. Next this park is playground for children. The park is in guite area, but if u need shopping u are close to shops ;)
Great for a dog walk...lovley scenery....wish it was a little bigger and that oeople didn't leave a ton if bread on the pavement for swans! Apart from that its peaceful and atm always busy with people getting out of their homes fir a walk during lockdown! Summer its beautiful Glad its in my doorstep
This is now a beautifully transformed & tranquil park. I used to walk here sometimes during my lunch hours from school & college to feed the ducks. The plants & fountain have completely altered the park. It is a credit to Dublin City Council Parks personnel.
As always, a beautiful little haven in the heart of Dublin city center. The weather was glorious which helped, and people were out in force to enjoy it. There was even a lad practising his guitar. Gave me a feeling of normality in these uncertain times.
Lovely little space to spend your lunch break in. You wouldn't know you were in the city once in here. It is so peaceful. It was lovely to see the family of swans, various ducks and the big bird, is it a heron? not sure, and plenty of gicknahs(pigeons).
The park itself was lovely, but was a little disconcerting the three men drinking cider that started chatting with my 2 year old. They ended up being friendly enough, but still an unsettling experience with some rough people loitering nearby.
My wife and I walked through the Blessington Street Park (The Basin) to get to another touristy location. We saw many people walking through the park to get to work; children lead by their teachers through the park towards a playground. A
Lovely calming and relaxing little oasis in the middle of the city.. Wel maintained and lots of lovely bird wildlife.. Spoke briefly to one of the guys who maintaines the bacin.. Very nice guy seems to know about his plants also …
Sweet little park. If you are in this area, definitely pop in to see the flowers. The plants are all blooming for spring already and the ducks are fun to watch. The walled garden is just a nice place to visit and obviously well loved.
A short circular paved area with park benches overlooking a reservoir, which has been restored into a very attractive public amenity. The fountains in the lake are amazing! Lovely place for a quiet stroll, lots of bird life
Small but beautiful park with a lake. There are swans, ducks and other birds in wild environment. The park allow feed the animals (only specific food such corn, oath and bird grains) so it's a great experience for children.
Amazing place, great vibe. Perfect to chill, sit around or walk, although there's less walking space. The views are amazing it's a nice place for taking awesome photos. Fountains, swans flowers ... feels really peaceful
Always beautiful regardless of the weather. Maintained by creative hardworking friendly staff. And a bird sanctuary right here in town. Then there's one of those posh markets on Fridays. Lovely buzz about the place.
Marvelous park! It’s so relaxing the sound of water so peaceful! Different kinds of birds and trees around! It’s nice for a walk or just to sit down and read a book or just watch the birds and water! Loved it!
I used to walk through here every morning on my way to work and it acted like a tonic to help me face the day. Two more water sprays have been added so it is even more soothing now to sit and unwind.
There was a wonderful selection of spring flowers including daffodils and crocuses, I could smell the hyacinths from the bottom of Blessington street. Always lovely for a walk on a sunny afternoon
Beautiful little park and lake in the Phibsborough area of Dublin. It's well maintained and a real haven for wildlife. There's a pretty little gate lodge at the main entrance to the park.
Lovely park. Good smell. Actually today was very nice. Beautiful weather. Everyone was enjoying and was excited. It’s like a secret in the middle of the city. You have to discover it.
Lovely walk around the pond with plenty of birds. Could do with a few more benches as no grass to sit on around the pond, but if you go out the back door, there is another little park
Had a walk around, it was a lovely day and there are lots of seats. Got to see the water fountains working briefly. Strong gas odours near the gate lodge. A little oasis in the city
An absolute hidden gem. Not very crowded and very beautifully maintained. There are good few nice cafes around as well. Specially two boys brew. Definitely worth checking !
Lovely park on my doorstep. Picnic benches have been put in. Lovely ducks to see in the pond. A water feature that lights up in the middle of the pond. Recommend a visit.
Beautiful lake, lots of ducks, swans & other water birds. Very nice for a quiet walk, lunch or even a date ;-) A quiet and pretty refuge in the middle of town. Love it.
A beautiful little place with a walkway surrounding a small pond with ducks and a few swans. The place is perfect for a evening stroll or a quiet read beside the water.
I love this little park, a hidden gem amongst the concrete jungle of Dublin. There is a huge amount of wildlife for such a small place and it’s quite beautiful! …
Stumbled on this little aquatic park by accident but what luck. It's a tranquil spot with a wide path around the basin and lots of benches. A good spot to relax.
There is a lot of ducks swinning peacefully in the water and a small island with bushy trees just in the middle of it. There are benches for sitting and resting
It's a lovely place for a walk. In a round the pond is great for taking photographs. Some fantastic plants and a lot of beautiful flowers
Absolutely gorgeous park! Lovely water basin area. A lot of birds - do bring food! Be wary of the pigeons that show up out of nowhere!
Beautiful little park, very well maintained, brongs a dash of colour to an otherwise grey area of the north inner city
I grew up near the Basin and have lots of happy childhood memories playing in the park and feeding the ducks.
Cute wee park great for take away coffee catch-ups. Small little haven for birdlife within the city scape.
Lovely park in Dublin, I sit here for a few minutes while I'm walking through every week before my course.
Very atmospheric park! Everyone will find their favorite place to relax. Don't forget to bring duck food!
Beautiful who ever works on this goes above and beyond every turn a different flower or something
Pretty nice park overall, stayed there a while just watching the birds and the fountains thingy.
Beautiful Oasis. I just love this little place, wonderful to stroll or just sit & listen.

In the city centre lies this magical park im44 born in dublin never knew it existed
Hidden gem in the middle of the city. Beautiful place to relax and feed the ducks.
Northenden secret garden. Well worth a stroll to see the ducks and the islands.
One of my favourite spots in Dublin. The grounds are beautifully maintained.
Great for a quick walk around lake to get out of the office...
Beautiful oasis in a busy city, dont need to say anymore
